King Brychan in Merthyr Tydfil

Large booking for my daughter's 8th birthday this evening and the food and service was fantastic. Richard was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely atmosphere and great food

Both Amanda and Morgan were very good with service and were warm and friendly.

Great place .conveniently placed to the superbowl for food and fun in same park.

Served tonight by Richard, Megan and Morgan; an absolute credit to the business!, Entire pub was rammed and fair play the three of them could not do enough for us. There was a 45 minute wait on meals but it was absolutely worth it. Service and food both outstanding, will definitely be returning👍🏼

Richard met us at the door, the place was full, but he found us a table for 7. The meal was really good. All of us enjoyed. We were there just as a childs party was coming to the end. This was the only issue, until it finished you couldn't hear yourself think. Bar staff were also very friendly. The serving staff were also very polite.

Came in for some drinks as we stayed at the hotel next door, we were advised to order via the QR code online which we did. We had to chase three times and it took over 40 minutes to deliver 4 pints of beer. It wasn't even very busy. The table was sticky as well.

Asked to leave a review by morgan & I had a fantastic experience at The King Brychan. The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The food was delicious, with a great variety to choose from, and everything was served with a smile. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed meal with great service. I’ll definitely be back!

Service slow. Food overcooked. Issue with items on menu not as described when arriving at table

We decided to have a carvery and we were a bit late but the lady crystal was fine with it and showed us to the the table fair play the service she gave us was brilliant the carvery we was stunning and I must say it was better than toby carvery the price is ok but I understand with price rises

We had food for my sisters birthday and I cracked a tooth from eating the bacon of the top of my chicken.

Burger and chips was magnificent, had sausage and mash today, lovely

Very poor food. Burgers burned around the edges. The salad which should have contained grains didn't so cost over a tenner for a bit of lettuce, chicken and bacon. Service incredibly slow.

Crystal was kind, polite and very helpful. As was the young lad serving. We will be back again!

Food was lovely and fast from ordering to table was only 25 minutes even on a major spot game being played. The staff couldn’t do enough to help. Crystal so so helpful at the bar took my order perfectly and relayed it to the team

I ordered fish and chips for £15 and got a small amount of chips and a piece of fish, the looks were deceiving as it was mostly batter over cooked and didn’t even come with a lemon to squeeze. My food took an hour to come for a not Verry busy pub the waiter had an attitude and when asked to do a simple task as part of their job they rolled their eyes and left promptly. I would not recommend if you are in the area you are better off going to McDonald’s .

Great experience at the King Brychan! Just popped in on the off chance by myself for a meal while the car charged round the back. Would really recommend the lighter version of the steaks!! Was SO tasty!! Huge thanks to Megan, Crystal & Morgan who made me feel so welcome & definitely contributed to my enjoyment!

Not really happy with the fact we only had 90 minutes for our table, felt like we had to rush our food. Did not have time to order dessert. Was mislead on app stating carvery not available yet it was upon discovery after ordering something else! Poor value for money!

We go there regularly and the food is always delicious and piping hot. The staff are lovely and always make us feel.welcome. They are particularly patient with our boisterous grandson ☺️

My partner Ordered hunters chicken and they threw the bacon on top as If they forgot it I ordered the cow boy burger which is meant to be a BEEF patty but for some reason it tasted of fish I think the chef needs to clean his grill a bit more often overall food is bland and burnt. Staff didn’t check in on us to make sure the food was good and were nowhere to be seen to complain to so had to walk out.

Absolutely shocking value for money ! Ordered a vegetarian curry which cost £12.99 . Absolutely pathetic portion sizes and didn't even come with a poppadom or naan bread ! Husband and son also had curries , again minimal portion sizes , but at least theirs came with a naan bread . When queried I was told I had to pay extra for anything additional to go with the vegetarian curry or 50p for a poppadom , I was surprised at this as the meal was very small and should of been offered free of charge during my query and disappointment . As mentioned in the reply, the lovely lad at the end offered a free drink and in all fairness apologetic. Think I was mostly upset about not being offered a free naan during the conversation with the lady when queried but appreciated the offer of a free drink when I was asked was everything OK by the waiter at the end of the night. Disappointed as it wasn't value for money but thanks for the reply.

Nice and friendly place to eat with a great atmosphere

We (two couples) stayed in the travelodge next door and hoped on the off chance to turn up without a booking, the staff here did their best to get us a table while we waited at the bar (we was ok with waiting 30mins ish) before the bar staff finished taking our drink orders, another member of staff arranged a table for us very quickly, from there on all staff were brilliant and helpful, the food was promptly brought out after ordering from our table, the menu was great with plenty of different options for all, we all very much enjoyed all the food as it was delicious, the whole place had a great warm inviting vibe, definitely would go again when we’re in south wales next time

Small portions but highly recommended the staff could not be more helpful richard, louise and crystal we very helpful with me and my daughter while she was having a meltdown

Food was nice but very disappointed of having to wait over 45 minutes for our food to be served . They can't keep treating customers with this sort of routine. Going back to valentines night 6 years ago we got there for 7.30 and still waiting for our meal at 9.00 they were under staffed and the chef stormed out , We were compensated by having our drinks on the house and ended up going to macdonalds. As for the waiting seems nothings changed I've seen yogurt turn quicker

Great service. Attentive & friendly staff. Awful food. Ordered a spicy burger which was overcooked and the fries were stale and so cripsy that they were painful to eat. The mrs had a mixed grill, and said that the meats just tasted like charcoal with little to no flavour.

My empty plate is still in front of me 2 hours after I finished my meal and have been to the bar 5 times to get a drink. Such poor service as the staff are all sat at a table talking and only go to the bar when someone is waiting and jot clearing the tables. Shocking service

Felt as though staff were trying to rush us. Kept saying the carvery was nearly out of food (at 7pm?). Caused a few diners to change their order. We had booked a table for 15 with a week's notice so you'd expect there to be food available. The food presented was generally good but then staff started clearing the table as we ate. Finally staff were shouting goodnight to a colleague so loud as to be heard right round the bar. There were only our 15 people left in the venue but it was not even 9 o clock and we were made to feel as though we were keeping them up past their bed time. Even placed cleaning spray on the table while we were sat there to hurry us up.

Nice atmosphere as soon as went in, taken to a table that we requested be in a quiet area if possible, staff who served us was called Amanda, very polite, professional, food was served to us in about 15/20 mins, hot, presentation was good….. came to this place last about 5 years ago, all I can sway it it’s a million percent better than before and will deffo be coming back

When to king bracken 27thDecember. The prices shot up. Waited so long for the food the food came at different times My grandaughter had a rocky road Sundae the was no brownie in it . Overall very disappointed. Won't come her again .

If I could give it zero I would. The food they served us was sat there all day, the meat was so dry and they were happy to serve it until asked to change it! No stuffing, no gravy, will never go again. By fat the worst meal I have ever had out. That price of meat in the picture is beef its that dry!

Had Christmas dinner booked here with 25 others on a Tuesday night 04/12/18. Table was well laid out and crackers were supplied. The starters were excellent. The Turkey dinner was good but could have done with more festive vegetables like sprouts and roast parsnips instead of just carrots and peas. Christmas pudding also very nice. My only complaint is it took over 2 hours to serve meals from starters to puddings even though most people had pre-ordered and there seemed to be very few staff spread out to serve us and others. A few extra staff could have helped cut the waiting time substantially. Overall, a nice place to eat and drink but could have prepared more in advance.
