Warm welcome Morgan our server was friendly and is an assist to the company.

The wife and I had a great first time at the King Brychan. My wife is the carvery was great with plenty of options. My mix grill was also nice. Would have had desserts if we had any room left. We served by lovely chap called Aneirin, who greeted us with a smile and made sure everything alright. Would definitely come back next time we are in Merthyr Tydfil.

king Brychan is our go to pub for a quick meal on this occasion I was slightly disappointed with the quality of my meal . I opted for the 8oz Sirlion cooked Rare on appearance the steak looked great but on taste I found it to be really chewy and tough. This was the 1st time in numerous meals I have had at the king brychan m that I have not been happy with the quality of the steak. I ordered the ribs as a side they were delicious as always . The service is great as always and the staff do really work hard to ensure the tables are clean and food is served within a reasonable time. I did find myself waiting at the bar to be served as no staff in attendance maybe they need to add 1 or 2 more to the rosta on a Friday and Saturday. Thank you

My experience wasn't very positive- It was very busy but thankfully we booked a table for 11. Quite a few things missing on the menu, I ordered a baguette which was terrible- bacon was missing, cheese was lacking and two bits of chicken in a bread roll- was very disappointing but I did receive a refund. Toilets were very dirty and unkempt. The walls behind our table were filthy and made me wonder what the kitchen was like. The staff didn't really seem too happy and didn't really want to be there. The rest of the party had ok food and it arrived on time, although the chicken nuggets for the kids meal were over cooked. One of the party had a dairy allergy and the wrong burger was served to her, luckily her mum realised before she ate it. Could have been a disaster!! We also asked for some crayons to go with the colouring on the children's menu- the only ones that the manager found were being used by another child and so he took a few from him to share amongst the 8 children on our table - half term with no colours!! I will not be returning and I think this pub needs an overhaul...

Terrible service in here today, wouldn't accept a valid gift card because "it's a bank holiday" which is not part of the terms and conditions of the gift card or the pub. So just purely made up for some unknown reason?

Lovely carvery, all the staff were really helpful and friendly specifically Crystal at the till.

Generous amount of food for the carvery. Everyone attending was very polite even in a busy bank holiday lunch.

We had a little wait when we arrived before being greeted, but staff were courteous and friendly. The carvery was good as usual; we particularly appreciated the imaginative style of vegetables.

The service provided by Morgan was excellent. He is helpful, polite and attentive every time we visit. He is a credit to King Brychan always welcoming and friendly and a reason why we keep coming back :)

I pre booked and all my requirements were catered for perfectly. All staff are lovely and very efficient. The carvery was great and my partner was delighted with his mixed grill , steak cooked to perfection. Prices on the nail .

Came along tonight with my dog sat outside bought a drink and asked for water for my dog.. Richard straight away came with water in a bowl for my dog.. very friendly and happy place (Merthyr Tydfil)

I order the spicy burger for main. Hollumi fries for starters and a Pepsi. Very good price and the burger was packed but very neat, full of flavour honestly top 5 burger of my life. All the plasters and cutlery was shining clean and tables were very wiped down. The staff were so polite and never interrupting. Definitely would go again! Thank you

The staff were so friendly and welcoming. They took our orders with so much patience (we were a table of 11). All the food came out hot, delicious and at the same time!! The staff again were great checking if we had everything or if we needed anything else. Great service, and very nice food! All 11 meals!

Had steak and ale pie chips & peas waited 20mins tgen when came pie crust was rock hard and it tasted a bit strange on the way home I vomited the pie and peas I feel that there was something wrong with the pie chips were fine

Nice layout and atmosphere. Disappointed the manager refuses Blue Light Discount on bank holidays but allows it other days. Starter was great, main meal was ok but steak was overcooked for rare. Dessert was supposed to be hot but arrived luke warm after a long wait. Staff were very nice and polite.

I'm pre diabetic and the only sugar free drinks was from dispenser. Sugar free lemonade was crap. Tasted like sugary syrup watered down. Would not recommend. Dull atmosphere and pricey drinks.

The food, service and atmosphere was exceptional, i want to give a shoutout to Morgan who helped us to our tables and took our order as he was very friendly and helpful, Teigan is another name i want to mention as he made sure everything was okay with the food after we received it.

Excellent friendly service. Very dog friendly, the dog's drink arrived first. Lovely lunchtime experience. The Easter Bunny even put in an appearance for the kids. Well done to all the staff.

Service was not ideal. Food was good quality however half the menu was unavailable and the waiting time was very long. Wouldn't come back.

Under staffed on a busy Saturday so had to wait around 45 minutes for food, waited 20 minutes at the bar to get served. Unfortunately with places like this, never can quite get a steak right, my medium rare came well done. Only plus was we had a voucher for 30% off

They accepted our booking of 20 and said we would be on two tables put together. When we arrived we were given 4 separate tables totally apart. The staff were very unhelpful. The toilets were stinking and tables dirty and sticky.

We took our family here for our family meal. Carvery was good for the four who had it two of us had Mac and cheese and fish and chips. Once again food was yummy and hot. a really lovely place to go.

No sirloin steak available to order. Opted for the carvery. Beef was lovely but the roast potatoes and stuffing were rock hard.

Large booking for my daughter's 8th birthday this evening and the food and service was fantastic. Richard was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

Richard met us at the door, the place was full, but he found us a table for 7. The meal was really good. All of us enjoyed. We were there just as a childs party was coming to the end. This was the only issue, until it finished you couldn't hear yourself think. Bar staff were also very friendly. The serving staff were also very polite.

Came in for some drinks as we stayed at the hotel next door, we were advised to order via the QR code online which we did. We had to chase three times and it took over 40 minutes to deliver 4 pints of beer. It wasn't even very busy. The table was sticky as well.

Served tonight by Richard, Megan and Morgan; an absolute credit to the business!, Entire pub was rammed and fair play the three of them could not do enough for us. There was a 45 minute wait on meals but it was absolutely worth it. Service and food both outstanding, will definitely be returning👍🏼

The food was delicious, with a great variety to choose from, and everything was served with a smile. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed meal with great service. I’ll definitely be back!

We decided to have a carvery and we were a bit late but the lady crystal was fine with it and showed us to the the table fair play the service she gave us was brilliant the carvery we was stunning and I must say it was better than toby carvery the price is ok but I understand with price rises

We had food for my sisters birthday and I cracked a tooth from eating the bacon of the top of my chicken.

Very poor food. Burgers burned around the edges. The salad which should have contained grains didn't so cost over a tenner for a bit of lettuce, chicken and bacon. Service incredibly slow.

Food was lovely and fast from ordering to table was only 25 minutes even on a major spot game being played. The staff couldn’t do enough to help. Crystal so so helpful at the bar took my order perfectly and relayed it to the team

I ordered fish and chips for £15 and got a small amount of chips and a piece of fish, the looks were deceiving as it was mostly batter over cooked and didn’t even come with a lemon to squeeze. My food took an hour to come for a not Verry busy pub the waiter had an attitude and when asked to do a simple task as part of their job they rolled their eyes and left promptly. I would not recommend if you are in the area you are better off going to McDonald’s .

Great experience at the King Brychan! Just popped in on the off chance by myself for a meal while the car charged round the back. Would really recommend the lighter version of the steaks!! Was SO tasty!! Huge thanks to Megan, Crystal & Morgan who made me feel so welcome & definitely contributed to my enjoyment!

I am coeliac and there is a lot of choice for me and the food is great.

Not really happy with the fact we only had 90 minutes for our table, felt like we had to rush our food. Did not have time to order dessert. Was mislead on app stating carvery not available yet it was upon discovery after ordering something else! Poor value for money!

We go there regularly and the food is always delicious and piping hot. The staff are lovely and always make us feel.welcome. They are particularly patient with our boisterous grandson ☺️

My partner Ordered hunters chicken and they threw the bacon on top as If they forgot it I ordered the cow boy burger which is meant to be a BEEF patty but for some reason it tasted of fish I think the chef needs to clean his grill a bit more often overall food is bland and burnt. Staff didn’t check in on us to make sure the food was good and were nowhere to be seen to complain to so had to walk out.

Absolutely shocking value for money ! Ordered a vegetarian curry which cost £12.99 . Absolutely pathetic portion sizes and didn't even come with a poppadom or naan bread ! Husband and son also had curries , again minimal portion sizes , but at least theirs came with a naan bread . When queried I was told I had to pay extra for anything additional to go with the vegetarian curry or 50p for a poppadom , I was surprised at this as the meal was very small and should of been offered free of charge during my query and disappointment . As mentioned in the reply, the lovely lad at the end offered a free drink and in all fairness apologetic. Think I was mostly upset about not being offered a free naan during the conversation with the lady when queried but appreciated the offer of a free drink when I was asked was everything OK by the waiter at the end of the night. Disappointed as it wasn't value for money but thanks for the reply.

Nice and friendly place to eat with a great atmosphere

We (two couples) stayed in the travelodge next door and hoped on the off chance to turn up without a booking, the staff here did their best to get us a table while we waited at the bar (we was ok with waiting 30mins ish) before the bar staff finished taking our drink orders, another member of staff arranged a table for us very quickly, from there on all staff were brilliant and helpful, the food was promptly brought out after ordering from our table, the menu was great with plenty of different options for all, we all very much enjoyed all the food as it was delicious, the whole place had a great warm inviting vibe, definitely would go again when we’re in south wales next time
