When to king bracken 27thDecember. The prices shot up. Waited so long for the food the food came at different times My grandaughter had a rocky road Sundae the was no brownie in it . Overall very disappointed. Won't come her again .

If I could give it zero I would. The food they served us was sat there all day, the meat was so dry and they were happy to serve it until asked to change it! No stuffing, no gravy, will never go again. By fat the worst meal I have ever had out. That price of meat in the picture is beef its that dry!

Came for food with my wife and children on the off chance of them having a table. We were seated promptly. Even though we ordered though the QR code, Crystal came over and kept checking that everything was okay and made sure we weren’t waiting too long. Went for my daughters birthday meal staff was very welcoming the service was amazing food was absolutely delicious we gave them a birthday cake for my daughter they lit candles and sang happy birthday to her surprise overall experience was exceptional keep up the good work will definitely be. Had Christmas dinner booked here with 25 others on a Tuesday night 04/12/18. Table was well laid out and crackers were supplied. The starters were excellent. The Turkey dinner was good but could have done with more festive vegetables like sprouts and roast parsnips instead of just carrots and peas. Christmas pudding also very nice. My only complaint is it took over 2 hours to serve meals from starters to puddings even though most people had pre-ordered and there seemed to be very few staff spread out to serve us and others. A few extra staff could have helped cut the waiting time substantially. Overall, a nice place to eat and drink but could have prepared more in advance.

We booked for our daughter’s 1st birthday and had a lovely time at the King Brychan. There were 30 people and 1 dog in total and everyone had a fab meal and enjoyed. The staff were very helpful and friendly and informed us whilst ordering of something that was unavailable. They made a fuss and gave treats and water to our dog who loves being treated. All in all a great experience and we will be back again soon.

Lovely service here, after being let down by an unfortunate power cut at another booking we had to see Santa, we decided to come here to cheer the children up and what a lovely experience we had the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us our 'Chris' behind the bar what a lovely person very helpful and polite and the food was very reasonable and delicious, great gluten free menu for myself and a selection of desserts too which if your gf is always a disappointment, I will definitely be a return customer very pleased 😀

Can't reprocess an order when immediately after paying, I mentioned a TasteCard. I fully appreciate it was my fault for not mentioning it earlier, but I refuse to believe this wouldn't have been satisfactorily sorted in another establishment.

Warm friendly staff, food awful, went cold quickly, and steak was overcooked, tough and dry, I think I could see the marks where the jockey had been whipping it in the 3:30 at Ascot.

Extremely poor. My friend ordered fries and didn't get them. I had the chicken and mushroom pie which was awful, it must have been microwaved because the pastry was hard and not flakey at all. Peas didn't even taste like peas. The cup my tea came in was dirty, the spoon was also dirty. Absolutely awful experience.

Re: Festive menu. Mainly Starter/Dessert. Re: Starter. I chose the Pâté with onion chutney for starters. The Pâté and chutney was a satisfactory portion and tasted delicious however, I cannot say the same with regard to the French stick bread portion. I had 3 slices of bread, 1 of 3 was the first or last cut of the stick and was no bigger than a 10 pence piece and should not have been served. The bread portion in comparison with the Pâté and chutney was completely disroportionate. I still had half a portion of Pâté and chutney after I'd eaten the bread. Re: Dessert I chose the lemon tart with ice cream and raspberry sauce. It was served with a straw shape/length chocolate/wafer on top (the type of addition you would expect to see on an ice cream sundae or cone). It was certainly misplaced on a lemon tart dessert. I was expecting a fresh raseberry coulis however, what was drizzled all over the tart was, an extremely sickly sweet artifical sauce that can be purchased from supermarkets to drizzle over ice cream. In my opinion, the dessert would be best served with a fresh raspberry on top of the tart, fresh coulis (not drizzled over the tart) and served with fresh cream not ice cream. The sauce completely ruined the dessert for me, so much so I left 99% of the tart and just ate the ice cream but wished it was cream. The carvery had a good selection but parsnips with onions was a definately no no for me too. Both tasted fine but not together. The staff were professional, friendly and very attentive. The establishment closer to the toilet area had a damp smell in the air. The Christmas trees were both decorated beautifully. In summary, the starter and dessert did not deserve anything higher than 2 stars for me personally.

Absolutely disgusting popped in for a carvery never again £35 worth of rubbish, roast potatoes so hard couldn't even cut them, carrots rock hard would of rathered microwave meal probably would of been nicer and better value for money

Lovely spacious restaurant/ bar. Great customer service provided by a very polite gentleman named Chris. Chris went that extra mile for us and our dog who absolutely adores him :)

Very enjoyable as always Crystal is excellent and always makes us welcome and assists us with wheelchair access and spoon lol for our elderly father. Great carvery although sometimes a bit cold so that is disappointing And not keen on dogs being allowed in the eating area but other than that we come every 2weeks from Barry to take our 92 year old dad out who loves the food x thank you x all staff are good and accommodating

We came back several times over a three day holiday in Wales for a 40th birthday. We returned cuz the food was pretty decent for its low cost. Can see why the king is so popular with the locals. Only pub in Merthyr Tydfil where we can take the dogs inside. And they could have a dinner in bowls, amazing. The staff member called Crystal is warm, welcoming and friendly. In fact all the staff are lovely, courteous and made us want to return.

I booked a surprise meal for my mothers birthday the service we received was amazing! Very friendly, good atmosphere food was lovely too. 3 staff that did it for us and went out of they way and were amazing throughout the evening were Crystal, richard and morgan. My mam was so surprised and we all enjoyed our meals. Will definitely be returning. Thank you all x

We come quite regular to your pub for the carvery. Today was the best I was served by Crystal at the till very friendly and lovely. I don't know the name of the carvery guy who served us but it was outstanding the beef melted in our mouth so soft and the cauli cheese was brilliant 👏 Thanks we really enjoyed it. Lisa & Dan x

Went for the carvery, and from start to finish the whole experience was wonderful. Staff were efficient, polite and incredibly helpful and the service was very prompt (even though it was clearly very busy) food was delicious and had a very pleasant visit there. Have decided to make at a more regular stop as a result.

Couldn't ask for better. Turned up without a booking but was found a table despite being busy. Customer service was impeccable and Richard was very welcoming and helpful, carvery was fantastic and the children's meals were fair for value. All said and Done very pleased with food and service.

We walked into the restaurant, there was this man who showed us to our table, he looked liked he was going to a guns n roses concert? So I gather he was the manager or supervisor? Very scruffy looking for a manager i would say? Apart from that the food was nice?

I am coeliac and there is a lot of choice for me and the food is great.

The food in the main was lovely, I really enjoyed the Thai red curry. However, the mixed grill was not as good as expected. The steak was rubbery and the gammon was tough. I tried to order at the table but it wouldnt allow me to input the discount code. Despite this, the staff were very pleasant and helpfu and the portions were a good size.

Chris was lovely at The King Brychan, and service with a smile.

Richard, your front of house/team leader was exceptionally helpful in accomodating our party of three, one of whom is disabled and uses a mobility scooter. Gave us a warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble. An absolute credit to your company. In addition to Richard's excellent service I must also include Brent the chef who served our meals. So pleasant and helpful, a really engaging young man. Cannot fault the service from start to finish.
