We went to London last MONDAY to renew our passport at the Embassy of Malaysia. We saw some recommendations of restaurant on the notice board and the name PUTERA PUTERI caught our eyes. We went there with high expectation and excited to finally have some authentic Malaysia food as advertise, but it turns out to be a TERRIBLE and AWFUL EXPERIENCE. The foods there were NO WHERE NEAR AUTHENTIC MALAYSIA CUISINE. The texture of the beef rendang was dry and NOT TENDER AT ALL. The soup of the Curry Laksa was spoiled (BASI) and we asked them to change a new one, but we were told that it was the last portion and couldn't change a new one, which makes no sense as we were the around 3pm and they close at 10pm, what kind of excuse is that? The mamak mee goreng was salty and had no other flavour other than salt. The fried chicken of the Nasi Lemak were salty. I ordered a TEH O LIMAU AIS what i expected was a red tea with some calamansi, instead of that i got a orange tea which taste like water. The staffs were very rude and arrogant and always give us a unhappy and impatient face. The price is vry expensive for this kind of poor quality and terrible staff attitude. A total of 84 POUND for 4 dishes and no apologies or refund were received. TOTALLY A DISASTER. PLEASE DONT SPOILED THE REPUTATION OF MALAYSIA CUISINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brought non Malaysian friends over to sample Malaysian food, including Daniel Schevenels from the Landmark Hotel who’d won the Bake Off Professional TV competition. There were only 2 waitresses this Sunday afternoon who were not equipped to manage 3-4 tables of guests. We’ve had to ask for our table to be cleaned, water & glasses, got our own cutleries, asked for our orders to be taken & followed up with our drinks whereabouts. It was exhausting and I was personally embarrassed for my guests regarding the service level received. Food was surprisingly just so-so. Our teh tarik was lukewarm. The mee curry lacks flavour. Koayteow portion was unusually small. Am totally disappointed. Truly.

Although listed as Putera Puteri Cafe, it is now Warung Putera Puteri. This joint offers meals and street food which can all be seen at the counter. Tried the Pulut panggang, Kue kochi/koci. The Pulut panggang is grilled glutinous rice with a desiccated coconut filling that tasted like the ginger puree that you get for Hainan chicken, overall it was a nice snack but it was weird because it was sweet and savoury. I would have enjoyed it more if it was 100% savoury. The Kue Kochi/koci was nicer, similar with sweet desiccated coconut filling but it was 100% sweet in a firm chewy glutinous rice mochi and smothered in coconut cream. Also tried the onde onde the previous night which was a pandan glutinous rice ball covered in coconut with liquid brown sugar in the middle.

The food is acceptable however it is a bit pricey compared to other Halal Malaysian eatery in London. The malay dessert are especially costly.

This was a pleasant surprise. The food was well presented and very tasty. The flavours were good and enticing. My favourite dishes were nasi goreng and the hainan seafood dish. The waiting staff were accommodating throughout and understood that we wanted to share our dishes. Highly recommended.

Food was fantastic, really tasty dishes that take you to Malaysia. 2 things to improve, first when I had to go to the loo the waiter sent me to the public toilet in the middle of the road. And Second, the dishes all came at different times.

Excellent food - wholly authentic, and beautifully cooked, but at relatively modest prices, too. Friendly, efficient service, and a great informal, relaxed vibe (cafe style). Highly, highly recommended for an informal eating experience - a hiddent gem!

I was immediately put off by the fact that there are no toilets inside - you have to use the public one outside, which while very clean had such tiny cubicles I had to contort myself just to open/close the door. Food-wise, quite average. The char kuay teow as lukewarm, like it had been sitting on the counter for a while before being brought over. The chicken in the laksa was dry. The kangkung belacan was good (my friend didn't like it but she's not used to the taste of belacan), though a smaller portion that we expected. Service was good though and very friendly.

Decent food, authentic, but nothing special. Service quite slow in my experience. Have tried better Malay and Indonesian food in London

We love Malaysian food after living in KL years ago. We tested the food and ordered some old favourites and then arranged a feast for close friends for wife’s special birthday. The food was delicious over a range of Malaysian favourites. The take out order was a little chaotic and I was pleased I went to go and fetch it rather than rely on the chef to get the order right. For what we had the price was a little higher than I had hoped. We will go back sometime

Having eaten at Putera Puteri, Queensway, London W2 before, I was keen to go back for some more of their rendang and roti. A free-standing sign outside the entrance read "please wait to be seated". Dutifully, I stood by the sign and waited. A middle-aged, English looking and speaking man in a white shirt (which I later found out from a member of the waiting staff was the manager) shouted across to me (he was leaning on a chair at the time by one of the outside tables); he had evidently assumed I was not hearing impaired and was English speaking. However, with the noise of the rush hour traffic (it was approximately 5.15pm), I miss heard him and thought he said to wait (apparently he had said "go ahead in", or something similar. He then spoke again, this time louder, with no attempt to come closer, and with an expression that came across as one of annoyance, saying "do you want to sit inside or outside" , to which I replied "inside". He then led me to a table saying "you can sit here", and left me. Shortly after, a young asian member of staff in a black shirt took my order; thankfully, he was very pleasant and attentive. While eating, the manager in the white shirt reappeared and gathered the waiters and waitresses together and spoke to them at considerable length and loud enough that it was impossible for me to ignore. Fortunately, I was eating alone and not trying to have a conversation with a dinner date. Sadly, although the rendang is good, it is not good enough to make me want to go back to this restaurant again. I do not appreciate being shouted at from across a restaurant so that I have to strain my ears to hear and raise my voice in response so as to be heard. Perhaps the sign "please wait to be seated" should be changed to "please wait to be shouted at".

We tried this near Bayswater station. The mee goreng and the hainan rice was good for UK standards but was disappointed with the eat tan hor which was too watery in my opinion and the full menu was not available. The sambar for 3 pounds was a very tiny portion too.

Visited on a weekday and would have liked to try the satay as a starter, but disappointed none available. Had the 3 pieces of curry puff which was tasty followed by Mee Goreng Kampung, Char Kuey Teow and Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang. All the dishes served were not piping hot and average in taste and presentation . No ice kachang or chendol on the menu. Service was friendly and cafe was fairly busy.

This is a bit of an obscure bar in a hotel with some really good food - especially Malaysian food. Quick and good service in a nice environment.

I think this place might have closed now. I tried 4/5 to order over the phone then I went down in person but the place was closed. Feel sad that they've closed. Used to enjoy their food

No volveré

I strongly advise to avoid this place...the staff are incompetent. No card payment facility. The ATM didn’t dispense correct cash. The drinks are awful and the food is terrible at best ! Carlton Lounge is much better for Shesha and food and is in a much better setting, this place is more of a make-shift smokers den at the back of your garden...

We went to Itsu in Victoria for lunch. First off, there was nobody at the counter. No staff to be seen.....they certainly weren't cleaning tables! When the staff member came to the till, our order was taken as we were told, 'stay there it's coming'. A few seconds later, our rice pots were brought out. Cold, hard, rubbery awful. We asked for the toilet code and got, 'it's not working' in a 'couldn't care less' manner. The tables were filthy, the floor was filthy, the whole place did not look cared for. I ate a few mouthfuls before binning it and leaving.
