Ordered some lunch and email said it would be 45 minutes. An hour and a half later still hadn’t arrived!! Paid in cash and the didn’t have any coins, neither did I so ended up paying £20 for a £18 meal Massive tip considering the service was appalling. I only ordered 3 items and they didn’t even get that right! Ordered pork balls but got chicken instead. Should have sent it back but I’d waited too long. Won’t be ordering from Purley Dragon again!

I order from here often and the food is usually good. Service however is really poor. I’ve been waiting over an hour for my food today and when I called to ask how much longer it would be after making a few poor excuses the person hung up on me.

The meat was all dry and the sauce was bland and the prices are very high for a poor quality meal…time for change!

I don't do many reviews, but this meal was lovely, cooked well and fresh tasting. Will try them again

I used to order from here and it was good, tonight it was awful, the food tasted of nothing, can’t believe how bland it was! Very very disappointed

Terrible food - we got prawns instead of chicken; the crispy noodles were oily and tasteless; the hong kong chicken was over cooked. They also sent us the wrong drink and, worst of all, have ignored my emails entirely when I alerted them to the poor service and poor quality food.

Ordered food last night and got food poisoning do not order from here also when I rang them up they did not care and said leave bad reviews if you want

No problems with delivery times but the wonton soups we order on a regular basis used to be a nice size with a decent fillling, now they are really small with more wonton wrapping then filling, very dissapointed considering they cost £5.99 each, please sort this out Purley Dragon, may be awhile before we think to order from you again.

King po chicken was disappointing

Don't order from this shop, they don't cook the food properly. I found hair in my food and when I called up and told them there was hair in my food they said yeah okay.

I have just ordered from here for first time . Order arrived quickly ..although they added complimentary prawn crackers ..I found the the food to be tasteless.. We ordered very basic Chinese food ..the sweet sour chicken was ok .. However the chicken fried rice was bland dark in colour and Looked more like couscous!! The chicken chowmien again bland , soft noodles Both dishes seemed precooked Not freshly cooked with that out of wok presence!! The spring rolls Probably frozen ,over fried..in oil ..again awful Sorry won't be ordering again 🤨

Time to find a new local Chinese! I’ve ordered from Purley Dragon many times over the past 5 years or so and it’s very hit and miss but never again after the weekend. Took nearly 90 mins for food to be delivered and when it arrived it was cold and one dish wasn’t what I ordered. Called the restaurant and was told that they would send the food again but it would take another hour or more. Not ideal when you’ve got hungry children so I ended up having to reheat everything in the microwave but threw away the starters because they looked awful and didn’t look like they could be saved. The prawn chow mein consisted of three prawns, noodles and loads of onions. Not very good. A microwave Chinese meal from the supermarket would have been nicer.

The beef chow mein hardly had any beef and the noodles were dry. Very disappointed although the spicy king prawns were edible, minus the old veg. No one compares to Yao Lee unfortunately.

They answer the phone pretty quickly and are good with service Originally delivered to the wrong address but then delivered to the right address upon calling. Delivered after nearly 2 hours. Chowmein was okay Kung po described as Szechuan but is watery and overly sweet. The chicken seemed like it was pre cooked and just added to pre-made sauce with vegetables. Not good at all. I don’t even want to eat it but it’s 10:30 at night and I have nothing else to eat. Won’t be ordering from Purley dragon again. 2/5 is generous.

Nasty food!! Had to wait over an hour for disgusting tasteless MUCK!!! Not even fit to feed to farmyard animals!! The duck (if you can call it that) was only fat & no meat, & the rice & prawns looked brown & inedible. Hardly surprising they give you a discount at checkout, they should issue stomach pumps as standard, so that you don't have to go to A&E. They are expensive, & I'll never use this place again - UGH!!! If I become unwell, I'll contact Trading Standards

Lovely food. I ordered via their website and they gave an estimated arrival time of 45 minutes and it arrived in 42! Accurate! The food arrived hot and was in great packaging. Definitely recommend.

We’ve had sooo many issues with this place being disorganised recently. They’ve forgotten food several times, refused to send it to us at first and been rude, told us they no long serve certain foods and then saying they do and they’ll send it? I shouldn’t have my food getting cold or having to wait for ages because of disorganisation. The food is really nice but I won’t order from here anymore unless they get there service together.

Our go to for Chinese. Usually order through JustEat. Food always good. One time we have had issues with delivery/delays they took care of it professional and perfectly. Thank you for the excellent service!

I ordered from here via Just Eat. They missed items from my order and the food was dry & disgusting. I ordered the Special Chow Mein... Completely dry with no sauce. The ingredients tasted really cheap and I gave up halfway through the meal. Could MUCH make better myself at home. Please avoid and go to Wei Dao instead... It's much nicer.

honestly 2/10 ordered delivery, over £50 for unseasoned, bland food. got given the wrong sauces etc. ordered Singaporean fried rice because they claimed it was spicy- had 0 flavour it was terrible, special noodles had no flavour. waste of money. duck was decent, delivery took like 20 mins so not too bad but i wouldn’t buy from here again! so disappointing.

This was a takeaway. Good speedy service. It was a large order and they got it all right. I really enjoyed it along with my friends. Reasonably priced with a nice discount added on. Will definitely use them again. 👍

Vile food all dishes turned up stone cold one dish missing said replacement would be sent out 30 mins later still nothing ...ordered chicken in ginger with spring onions no spring onions one slither of ginger and packed out with loads of onions swimming in grease and no flavour apart from old oil ! Took 10 tiny pieces of chicken out and the pic below was what I.had left masses of onions in a dirty gravy! Will never get from here again...Singapore vermicelli turned up 50 mins later no taste no smell no flavour !

Awful food. Used Purley Dragon many times before and was great. This time food was inedible, curries swimming in oil, cashew nut & yellow bean sauce was like water. Complete waste of money, threw it all in the bin.

Would normally give it full stars but this time round I’m not due to having to phone up the restaurant to get a replacement for my partners food which was incorrect and having to wait again for a replacement isn’t ideal when we both work really early in the mornings . my chicken chow main was cold when I normally order from here the food is normally piping hot .love Chinese from here but this was a let down for us only Chinese place my partner says they do the best sweet & sour chicken balls as most Chinese are greasy plus no apology the driver who delivered the food was polite

Food was not good at all! So overpriced for what you get and not tasty at all. Awful! Won't be ordering from here again! Disappointed. I had to call 3 times and on the third call, was told they are having problems in the kitchen. Food ended up arriving 45 minutes late. I won't be ordering from here again.

Staff member was rude on the phone and just ended it. Delivery driver banged on my door.

Shocking service! Ordered at 7:30pm. Was told 45mins for delivery. After an hour I phoned back and they said 15-20mins more. Half an hour later still no food. Phoned back and they said 10 more minutes and hung up while I was mid sentence. After 1hr 50mins it turned up STONE COLD and we had to reject the food. VERY disappointed!!

Garlic and chilli chicken was great, as was the duck.

The King Prawn Rice was poor,just rice with a few peas and king prawns,no colour,no flavour.. I don’t think I will order from here again. I was really disappointed

I ordered food from Purley dragon at weekend, I recommend to everyone to have food from this Chinese shop. Although might take longer than usual to receive your food as they are busy at weekends ,but staffs are incredibly polite and food is absolutely fantastic. IT IS WORTH TO TRY.

2nd time ordering, hoping things have changed, unfortunately not. We ordered the Thai Red Curry, Kung Po Chicken, ribs and special rice. I don't know what to say. The curry was gelatinous, thick, tasted of curry powder and despite ordering chicken we got tofu! 🤷🏼‍♂️ Kung Po chicken well, it was like nearly set jelly in consistency with a few dried chillies to garnish. The special fried rice, well the rice was actually very nice and not greasy or under cooked but the slabs of meat and something on the top were tough, fatty and slightly indistinguishable to an extent. And the ribs, well, they were very spare! Mainly bone and fat, some without any meat at all on them but the meat that was there was quite nicely flavoured.... After the 45 min wait for this meal we actually ordered from another place as we couldn't bring ourselves to enjoy it. I don't think I will try "third time lucky" but just to say there are many better options locally.

Ordered on Uber eats over an hour ago and just kept coming up PREPARING 😡 Don’t answer the phone wish I never bothered. Taken my money and can’t cancel and haven’t received food. Never again

A good mixture of items. Things I have tried were done well. Will keep using - Currently loving the crispy noodles, best with vegetables but the beef seems to be back to quality. Beef in sauces work well and great value for quality food. Total recommendation.

We have order food many times from Purley Dragon. We love the Tai dishes and selection of starters. Food always taste great, fresh and is delivered quickly. Great team work! Absolutely recommended.

Really nice chicken chow mein 😋

Food was good! Would have given 4 stars, however I felt heavily insulted and disappointed by my request to have no PORK in the food/ rice being ignored. The rice came with the "X pork" marking suggesting no pork , but it had pork inside. Total waste of my money!! Would like to come back, but if they will not value customers request it's not somewhere I can spend my money.

Not vermicilli... Ordinary noodles! Noodles! 1 scallop! 3 prawns! £9!!!!!! So disappointed. Finished with Purley Dragon...taking the mick!!!!!

I have tried A LOT of similar places, but nothing comes close to the quality and the deliciousness of Purley Dragons food. I order there regularly and will continue to do so. Food always arrives piping hot and packed with beautiful flavour.

Food took 1h30 to arrive. Deep fried starters were ok. Mains were tough, greasy and lacking in flavour. Wouldn’t use again.

Disgusting food. Tofu not even cooked properly and just drenched in oil. The food had no flavour at all and no sauce. Hard vegetables and again oily noodles with no taste. Never ordering from here again. Partners food was also bland and again, no sauce even know they call it "chicken in black bean sauce". Just a waste of money.

Most disgusting food ever don't waste your money i only ordered from this place because i got the name wrong. Special fried rice looked like an omlette Frisbee with rustlers chicken pieces plonked on top of the rice. Real Horror show. out of 7 people no one liked it .Noodles were swimming in oil. Not even the flies wanted it after 2 days

very disapointed in this take away service the food was taste less and chewy and in all honesty alot of it was fed to the foxes as no one in the house hold wanted to eat it we love this type of food normally but it was just so dry and not pleasant at all we had to order another take away from somewhere else as all they offered were the same dishes free next time and we were pretty hungry by this time no refund was offered As the food was that bad we will not be returning even for free dishes highly disapointing will not waste my money here again

Never disappointed. Some dishes needed more sauce from previously. But customer service is great , you just need to ask and everything will be perfect.

WE JUST HAD OUR FOOD AND I couldn't help myself to make few nice notes for this chiniese take away and give some respect to the chiefs and staff over there we phone them to place an order guy we spoke was nice and polite, FOOD WAS ON TIME AND AMAZING before we were oredering from different place so now we found the best one in our area singapore vermichelly was nice very fresh and hot cantonise style spare ribs was one of the best i ever tried it was meaty and delicious, house special chow mein was with amazing sause and i don't even know what they added but it wass so dellicious i cannot understand why they have so low rating this must be one of the top take aways in the area!!!! RECOMENDED !!!!!!!!!!

A very disappointing meal. We received a flyer through the door and the 'No MSG' statement was appealing. We started to place an order on Purley Dragons website and whilst doing so, thought that we had better quickly check the reviews online.......there are a lot of mixed reviews and a lot of the positive ones seemingly have little or no content other than the star rating..... We ordered beef chowmein, pad thai, vegetable spring rolls, spare ribs, battered prawns and recieved some 'free' prawn crackers. The chowmein and pad thai were extremely oily, the spring rolls and battered prawns undercooked, crispy on the outside and raw batter on the inside. The BBQ spare ribs were cold with some areas that were warm (presumably cooked earlier in the day and microwaved to reheat), with a coating of runny sauce that tastes nothing like BBQ. The prawn crackers were by far the best bit and they were cold. Half the meal was binned. Pleasant enough staff and reasonably quick (ordered then collected), but we will never visit again.

Took a chance on a leaflet through the door and had a good experience. Lovely food, not greasy, good portions, quick enough for me, 40 mins from order to delivery. Food arrived piping hot and delivery was safe and friendly. Would definitely order again.

The food was simply glorious! Clean and distinct flavours without the gloopiness that so often accompanies Chinese takeaways. All beautifully presented in the delivery boxes and delivered to the timescale stated. We will definitely be adding Purley Dragon into our contact list of favourite restaurants!

I wish I read these reviews earlier, on Justeat they have the most stars and I can’t fathom why. The prawn crackers were fabulous so we had high hopes but everything was just bad after. Food was late and very unimpressive. The crispy duck was inedible, seemed to have been forgotten in the warm oven and dried out completely. The prawn toast was think and full of oil, the satay overcooked and hard, the seafood noodle dish bland and watery. The rice was ok. First order and the last too.

Not sure if the other reviewers work for other Chinese takeaways or they have mistaken the Purley Dragon for a similar named take away in the area. We started using the Purley Dragon about two years ago and in that time we must have ordered over fifty meals. Every single dish we have ordered has been top quality. The best Chinese food we have ever tasted. Fast delivery and the food is always nice and hot.

CROWN AND PEPPER instead. It was late and had mushroom/carrot/broccoli in yuck 🤮.

Satay tofu, chicken chow mein and chinese chicken curry were all spot on. Prawn crackers are the best I've had. Dropped a star for long delivery but they could have been busy! Would order from again. Thanks!

PLASTER FOUND IN FOOD - AVOID! Ordered through Uber eats, have ordered from here previously and always enjoyed. Arrived within the delivery window. Unfortunately I was halfway through my meal when I found a round beige plaster in my mixed vegetable chow mein. Extremely unprofessional, not only for their kitchen (not even a blue plaster, not that that would have been much better), but also during the current pandemic you would hope that they would be extra vigalent regarding hygiene and safety. I have been told they will arrange a refund through Uber eats, however I will never order from here again and will recommend others follow my lead. Absolutely disgusting.

First and most definately last time i will be ordering from purley dragon. Food was cold, tasteless and disgusting. Totally inedible! Very disappointed. The whole family ate none of it. Only wish i had read the reviews first. Do not know how these people are still in buisness.

We've had takeaway on 4 occasions since we moved locally in Feb. Food has been great. Large portions, lots of meat, fresh taste. (No msg). The odd dish we've tried is not my personal taste but others liked them. We did have one order incorrect - but the dish we got is now one of my new faves! The battered chicken dishes and duck pancakes are always on our order. There are certainly mixed reviews below which I was surprised by. So worth trying out and drawing your own conclusions.

If I could give them less stars I would to prevent anyone else from ordering a take away from this restaurant, my meal was without doubt the worst Chinese meal I have ever eaten and in these testing times of people on lockdown with reduced fund I feel offended at have just paid £45 for a meal the dog turned his nose up at. Please avoid at all costs.

Whilst the food might be good they simply do not tell the truth About when it will be ready and you can end up waiting ages. I specifically asked when it would be ready - was told 15 minutes and yet again I’ve spent 15 extra minutes waiting despite me saying when I ordered please tell me an accurate time even if it is 30 minutes that’s ok but no.

It’s a newish place but needs some work on the menu. Salt and pepper prawns were tasty and Thai green curry sauce was good but the chicken in all our dishes tasted boiled and added to sauces so lacked flavour. A bit like a micro Chinese meal. Prawn crackers were good but that’s about it.

CHARGED TWICE! I ordered from you on the 31/12/2019 and when your delivery man showed up he had a bit of a problem with your card reader. Upon looking at my bank statement it show £23.40 from Purley dragon show up twice. I sent an email to them on the 5th of January and then phoned on the 9th and 21st of January and still haven't got my refund. BEWARE Still not resolved!

Ordered through Just Eat. However, food did not arrive. My wife and I were starving having had to go through Just Eat to get a refund after waiting for over 2 hours with no show. Called 4 times and not only could they not give me an explanation but was leading me on with an ETA of 10-15 minutes after it had been late in the first place. Was told it could be heavy traffic but drive is merely 12 minutes away. Do not order unless you decide that you want to have air for dinner. Edit: Turns out, they marked my order completed and delivered 25 minutes before I wrote this review as speaking to a Just Eat support rep had told me. This also meant that they could not provide me with a review and that I'd have to go through the HASSLE of CONVINCING the takeaway to contact Just Eat to go through a refund process... this was a complete nightmare. In the end, food came at close to 3 hours late after calling another 3 times. Starving seemed to be the lesser of two evils when comparing to arguing on an empty stomach over my refund. I will not be ordering from this place again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE 15/1/20 Just got a take out from purley dragon and the chicken skewers were completely pink and stone cold inside ! I will be reporting to trading standards and the food standards agency TOMORROW 16/1/20 This is disgraceful!

Food has really gone downhill and last night had phone call at gone 11.00 at night to ask if I had paid for the food! Bonkers. How would I have got the food if I hadn't already paid.

Have been waiting for an hour and a half, called them up and food isn't even ready yet. They have clearly forgotten our order and offered not so much as an apology. Disgusting service, will not be ordering again.
