Great Indian food at average restaurant prices. Good service and a clean place to be for an evening. Update in the last 7 years since my original review this place is as good as ever with superb food. Best Indian in Southampton, I drive from Eastleigh to collect takeaway as nowhere else is as good.

Genuinely don't know how this place has so many good reviews. just bought a takeaway and it was the worse we've ever eaten, layer of grease an inch thick on curry. all curdled. didn't taste of anything except grease. the picture was after scraping as much grease as possible off.Even the poppadoms were inedible as so greasy. Annoyed spent money here, and would give 0 stars if possible

Watery tasteless curry disappointed really for the money you pay .if u get a takeaway seems to be bad .but if u eat in their restaurant it's nice food .seems to be 2 different standards. Just taste the water init .

Had a takeaway from here. Much too much salt . Spoilt the curry completely for us. Also very expensive for 2 regular curries and 1 rice £25. Will not be returning.

Was in the area & thought I'd try this balti house, being a curry connoisseur from Brum (grew up on the curry mile) I would definitely recommend the Madras, very tasty dish with eye popping flavours, I couldn't comment on the lesser dishes as you can only judge a balti house by its vindaloo, Balti or madras, well done chef & thank you.

Hidden away but genuinely a lovely family ran r restaurant. Amazing food choices and so much flavour. The poppadoms etc were great and we're excited to return. Also offers a takeaway option. The establishment is small and it does get loud inside. Otherwise, spot on.

Always a great place for curry!

This place is a little gem. Have been going regularly and always had great service and great food. Lovely flavours. Mixed kebab starter is my go to and has never disappointed.

I phoned and ordered for collection for new year's, service was really good and easy, shame I can't say the same about the food, I ordered a lamb bhuna, which was bland and no spice what's so ever, chicken byrani, this had flavour but no spices and the chicken tikka masala had a very strong lemon taste and again no spice. The best thing was probably the onion bajji's and samosa's with the mango chutney. It was a little disappointing as this got recommended to me. I don't get Indian take away very often but have you got to ask for spice and flavour? Maybe it was an off day as it was probably quite busy but after spending £100 I thought it would if been a lot better

Had a sit down meal here in the restaurant. It was ok, no better than any other Indian I’ve tried. Couldn’t fault it, was just ok. Everything was hot which is good. Service was ok. Wasn’t very attentive or accommodating. The whole experience was just abit ‘meh’. I’d probably eat here again to grab a takeaway but not to have a sit down meal.

Lovely Indian restaurant. Been to this one and the one in botley. Their mint sauce is to die

Not a regular SE Asian foodie but needed dinner on a Sunday night and the Prince Consort Hotel recommended we try here. Very extensive but unfamiliar menu but made some good choices. DO NOT forget to have the garlic naan bread. It was so good I had a second order for dessert!

Staying on local campsite .. ordered takeaway to be delivered...arrived within hour ...Hot fabulous curry lots of chicken in it and great meat Samoas..along with other bits .lady who delivered very polite .thank you . Highly recommend

I have moved home, but if l want a real curry, l will go to Purbani Netley, worth the drive, curry excellent.

Booked this restaurant for the first time for a family Birthday celebration and was very glad that I did. Food was of excellent quality, portion sizes are quite large and the service was attentive but not annoyingly so. Will definitely plan to visit again in the very near future.

First time eating in, usually takeaway, weds night buffet night. So much food. It was very tasty and excellent value , will do it again soon

Recently in Netley I made order from this restaurant and was so good I went back for more the next day. Yep, they are that good!

We ordered a meal for collection, was estimated 30 minutes, completely reasonable. We ordered Chicken Garlic chili Chicken Jalfrezi Keema rice Cheese naan Chapathi Lime pickle Came to around £28 It was absolutely delicious, garlic chili was my favourite. So flavourful and the sliced green chilies were not too hot, just right. Lime pickle was devine, made my mouth water. We will 100% be ordering from here again.

If there was a 0 rating I would have opted for that. We arrived to only one table being occupied and thought we would receive fast efficient service, how wrong we were. Popadoms arrived quickly which were great but things went downhill from there. The order was eventually taken and food arrived with not too much of a wait. After a few mouthfuls of food a very long wavy hair was found in the curry, I made the waiter aware who went to the kitchen. He then came back to the table no apology but stated he didn’t know where it came from as the chefs were bald! We both stopped eating as we were put off and when the bill came we were charged £25 for the privilege of eating 4 popadoms, the few mouthfuls of curry and drinking 2 half pints of cobra. Never again will I be in there, no apology or real concern!

Had a lovely impromptu dinner after a long walk. Food was delicious and plentiful, service was great and we even had a complimentary baileys to round it off. We ordered a Lamb passanda, chicken tikka massala, pilau rice, garlic naan, peshwari naan, onion bhajees, poppadoms, bombay aloo and samosas. There was more than enough for three of us, the meat was very tender and tasty and every dish was good. Our food came out promptly, staff were attentive and smiley. All in all a very positive experience.

Normally, we are very happy with the food; however, tonight we found the food to be too watery and therefore tasteless.

We've only had food here once, and it was to take away. It was lovely though, and the inside felt clean and welcoming. We plan to eat from here again and this time we might sit in. I liked the fact that they were generous with the meat, and there were obvious chunks of veggies in the curries. It wasn't just lots of sauce and a bit of meat.

We had a very pleasant meal here. The service was efficient and friendly. The food was very tasty. We arrived at 1800 and the restaurant was empty. It soon started to fill up after that. You could also see plenty of pick ups going on. Will come again.

The best Indian meal I've had in years. Flavoursome, you can tell all the ingredients are fresh and so nicely prepared. Clean white tablecloths and linen napkins. A little more expensive but excellent value for money.

Enjoyed a pleasant evening with friends. The food was good as was the service. The food is reasonably priced but be aware of £9 for a glass of wine (cheaper to purchase a bottle but they don't offer this) and to pay for the Chutney thst accompanies the popadums.

The food is really good and that’s what a restaurant is about first and foremost. It’s all made in-house and cooked to order. The place is clean and well spaced out. The server was nice and engaging and food was delivered quickly with a warmth and friendliness that made a good experience better. We had a few dishes, all cooked fresh and to perfection, apart from a pakora dish that was oily. Perhaps to the taste of others but not ours. The tarka daal - often a good gauge for judging a restaurant - was excellent. The food is made with pride by a decent chef and it shows. They serve good coffee with warm cream, an excellent way to finish a good meal. Other customers seemed to know the staff and the take-away/delivery side was doing steady business. I’d recommend this to you for the friendly service, cleanliness but above all, the fresh food. If I’m back in the area, I’ll be back in here.

Every single time we order from here we are impressed. We want to actually eat in rather than takeaway as the food is so good it deserves more than just eating it as a takeaway. If I could give them six stars we would. They set an example and standard that is hard to match. Following on from this, I’m sat here again and they are so busy yet handling everything excellent. Looking forward to tonight’s meal! :)

Purbani Netley was too oily for our preference. For example, I was very excited to see that they had chicken pakorahs on the menu. It was flavorful while eating it; however, VERY oily. In the end, all you could taste was oil in your mouth. Customer service was attentive. The restaurant seemed to do a brisk take out business as we saw many people pick up their orders to go. No outdoor seating.

Was delicious but pricey. I love the complimentary glass of Baileys they offer, that's a really nice touch. The waiters are all very friendly and patient with the kids too.

Just had the absolute misfortune of trying to order a takeaway from this restaurant that I have been using for many years! Call handler tried telling me that Biryani comes with a gravy! Explained that the vegetable curry comes separately but he argued that its part of the dish! In the end he apologised and said "I don't know why I kept saying that"! Finally got to the end of my order and said I'd like to pay by card over the phone. He said that they preferred cash on delivery and that I should make sure I had cash next time! When I asked why, he said there had been incidents where customers in front of them had used the details being given over the phone. I politely suggested that perhaps he shouldn't read the details back and his response in an aggressive tone was "I really wish you wouldn't keep challenging everything I say"!! What an absolutely disgusting attitude to have towards a customer.. Purbani Netley, you just lost yourselves a long term customer!

Wednesday night means it is Purbani Banquet Night! I have missed coming here for the last few months, but now dining has started again, I am a happy chappy! Food, service and decor are as excellent as ever.. roll on next Wednesday (other week nights are available).

Our local and favourite indian restuarant. Food is amazing and service very good..when the food is served its placed on the hot rack how its ment to be. A lot of indian restuarant have stopped doing that. If your in the netley area of southampton give it a try. It wont disappoint

Me and my wife, went in for our wedding anniversary. Sat down to a lovely meal for two. The staff were fantastic, along with the food, decor and drinks. The food itself was excellent, with a wide choice and decent portion sizes. The staff went above and beyond with their hospitality, giving us complimentary drinks and arranged travel home.

I have reviewed this restaurant before - giving it five stars for its excellent food. We have continued to order from this restaurant as the food is so good. The staff are very polite and the menu extensive. Sadly, we have had a frequently re-occurring error with items missing from our telephone orders. One mistake is something that happens - we are all human and can make mistakes. Two of the same mistake is a bit irritating. However tonight was the FIFTH mistake where one portion of pillau rice was missing. As each error has occurred, I have phoned and the restaurant has been very apologetic. However, they seem to not have put some form of checking into this issue they have - I feel incredibly frustrated by this. We are getting to the point that no matter how good the food is - this problem has not been fixed and is totally unacceptable. I'm sure many other customers have experienced this.

Went there on a Wednesday where they offer a special banquet meal at a reduced price. Unfortunately found the food to be bland and the service although good, the waiters need to cheer up a bit, they seem unhappy which is a shame. Not saying we wont try it again as it may of been one of their off day's, although if it is a family run business they need to step up. Maybe Gordon Ramsey should pay them a visit!
