Pulia in Southwark

Welcome surprise and find in the neighbourhood. Quality beautifully presented dishes. The restaurant felt sophisticated, the right atmosphere (not too loud) minus an eye-watering bill. Would very happily take clients and friends there again.

One of the most mediocre italian food you can find :( Plate of cheese and salami had only three slices of cheap cheese, one not even italian, octopus portion was 1/6 octopus and 5/6 patato

I had the lamb rump it was so fatty and dry and very badly presented like the Chef had chucked it onto the plate we were late arriving but I don’t think that’s an excuse to serve the food they did.

Good spot for an enjoyable meal. Good service and well looked after by Vanessa, Luciano, Svitlana and all the team on duty.

The portobello mushroom lasagne with truffle oil was simply (I) the best lasagne I’ve ever eaten (2) the best vegetarian option in an Italian restaurant I’ve been offered beating a margarita pizza or spaghetti pomadoro and (3) the most memorable dish I have eaten in a restaurant this year with a lovely glass of Prosecco. We commended the chef and asked for the recipe. We will return simply for this mushroom lasagne!!

My boyfriend and I recently had a disappointing experience at Puglia in London. This restaurant is severely overpriced, offering average food that doesn't justify the steep prices. Charging £15 for a Burrata is an absolute rip-off. The pasta was decent. The most disappointing part of the meal was the desert: a chocolate cake – it was dry and clearly had been heated up in the microwave. It's a shame that a place that markets itself as an authentic Italian restaurant has such poor quality. To top it all off, it’s June and they still have Christmas decorations up – maybe they're just getting an early start for next year? I expected much more and was thoroughly let down. Save your money and dine elsewhere!

I think the place is overrated for the quality and price that offer. I’m from Italy and I know London is more expansive and that’s completely fine, but a 15 pounds for a burrata I think is insane. The pasta was good at least, but again when I order the cake it was hit it from

Had spotted this place before but never got around to visiting. Good memu, friendly and attentive staff, nice atmosphere. We chose the lunch menu at £19.50. Both starters were good size and great tasting. We both had the cod for the main, excellent, right size for lunch. A couple of soft drinks to go with the food. £56 in total. Worth it.

Out walking and looking for decent restaurant. Remembered this restaurant looking very inviting from previous visit to the area and promised ourselves to look it up next time . Great food and very attentive service and very good value

Visited after work, wasn't difficult to find and even though it was busy we were never waiting long for anything. Had a good sized meal, no room for pudding, probably a good thing! Food was great and the staff were lovely. Would absolutely come again.

just had a lovely relaxed family meal. waitress was so lovely and very tentative especially as my father (82) kept loosing his napkins. food fresh and tasty. best tiramisu ever. wine very smooth. So happy we managed to find a restaurant that was not a chain. highly recommend eating here.

Locale molto carino a 2 passi dal london bridge. Ho mangiato dei gustosissimi broccoli con ragù di braciole. Ottimi. Invitanti anche gli altri piatti del menu, tutti di tradizione pugliese.Conto molto onesto, personale gentile.

Arrived at 5pm on a Sunday evening. Lovely warm welcome, the Fiano from the wine list was superb, orders placed. The starters arrived, not so great. The mains followed, and it was mostly downhill from this point. The adapted meal to accommodate the vegan diner was great. The Scialatielli con Salmone had no salmon to be seen. A distinct taste of anchovies in a cream sauce that had not a hint of pink peppercorns, was a complete salty inedible mess. The Zampina Pugliese was a combination of dry and overcooked sausage and chips that even the lovely wine wouldn't wash down.Off day, relief chef from the local chicken joint? Don't know, he wouldn't talk to us.Shame...

Ero stata in questo ristorante in passato e la qualità era nettamente migliore. Buono il capocollo e l focaccia (anche se la pasta era leggermente cruda). Gnocchi che nuotavano nell'olio e non avevano sapore, insalata servita con foglie marcite. Personale gentile ma un po' disattento.

So we booked this restaurant for our annual Christmas lunch and specifically did so with a £30 budget in mind. We selected appropriate menus and booked accordingly with a continued emphasis on the budget we had. When we arrived we reminded the staff of our budget and asked that if at any time we went over this budget we would be alerted or told. We ordered accordingly and were slightly agreeved when our forward main course order which we had placed weeks before had been forgotten completely and we were asked to order again. To cut a long story short, the food was ok - not amazing but ok but we were shocked when chasing our bill for the third time that it came in well over the 9 x 30 pound max we had agreed. We queried they bill much to the disgust of the waiter who decided it better to have an embarrassing argument with me who was simply trying to have a happy arranged and agreed budget Christmas lunch. We ended up paying 50 pounds over what was agreed and left feeling aggrieved and embarrassed in front of my staff. I would not recommend this restaurant as they do not stick to their agreement instead fleece you for every last penny - beware! J

Food was great, service and experience very nice. I really liked authentic design, and restaurant felt super clean. Definitely will be back with my friends.

An evening of expectation with friends turned in to a disappointing one. From the start told that our choices from the food menu not available because “none left after lunch”. Why is it on the menu then? Why did you not tell us? As customers, it is not our concern that you cannot maintain your supplies.

We had dinner here, we shared 3 of the main dishes and the burrata. Nice to try regional specialities. Good service.

Il locale è accogliente, il servizio attento e i camerieri ben preparati sui piatti offerti. Ho cenato con 5 amici e abbiamo ordinato un primo piatto a testa e diviso in 6 un antipasto e una bottiglia di vino bianco. Per essere un ristorante Italiano mi sembra scandaloso dover pagare 2£ il pane, per non parlare dei liquori a fine pasto ( minuscoli, meno di un single shot di amaro, 6£) . Il mio primo piatto inoltre era crudo. Scegliete assolutamente alternative.

Vera cucina italiana. Tutti prodotti Italiani. Non sembrava di stare a Londra. Ho preso orecchiette alle cime di rapa, tipiche della Puglia, zona di mia provenienza, nulla da dire, BUONISSIME, come del resto tutto. Personale gentile, grazie a Carmelo per l'accoglienza. Da andarci. Raccomandato.

We had scamorza+asparagus bruschetta, cavatelli pasta with sausage, troccoli pasta with clams and meatballs along with Aperol spritz and some red.

I was expecting more but sadly, my pasta dish (turnip tops, anchovies, garlic, olive oil and chilli) was very boring - it may have partly been due to the fact that I asked them to leave out the anchovies, but it really was bland. There were 6 in our party & I think others found their dishes to be ok, but nothing special. The service was good, waiters pleasant & attentive. Overall, disappointing & very expensive house wine!

Average food for such an expensive bill, with clearly a scam. At the beginning of the dinner with other 7 friends, we have been asked if we wanted some "bread with olives" which we agreed to order. What arrived on the table were two focaccia boards (and not four as stated on the bill) with four little pieces of focaccia on them and two tiny bowls of olives which cost us a total of £35.85 (27£ of focaccia and 9£ of olives). As an Italian, I know that this appetisers are usually gently offered by the house (at least the olives) but, as the rude manager told to me, "we are in London, what do you expect?". When the bill arrived at the table, I was commenting with my friends that paying £6.75 for literally a bite of focaccia is not usual (considering that you can have an entire good pizza in London with just a couple of pounds more). The manager then addressed me in a very rude and inappropriate way to which I had to reply, as this was not the way to treat clients. Me and my friends usually leave tips for the service, but in this case there was no chance. We would have preferred paying £35.85 as a service tip on top of the bill, rather than receiving this kind of treatment and evident scam.

Visited with friend whilst a work trip. We were welcomed in and greeted at the table by Francesco, who was very friendly. Had a really enjoyable meal in a nice atmosphere, was a little bit loud with a large group. Food and wine was very good and was a good little find. Really enjoyed our evening was very chilled and relaxed with very good service. Thank you

Pretty little restaurant on the outskirts of Borough Market. The tomato sauce on the meatballs was very tasty! The other pasta dish we tried was terribly bland. The bruschetta was also lacking flavour. It was just "blah". The service was tremendously slow -- we had to ask twice for our bill! It's not bad, but in an area where there are so many other very quaint restaurants, this would not be a place I would recommend or return to.

This restaurant has so much potential - a lovely street and nice interior, yet the food was really disappointing and ended up being very pricey. Ordered pasta, bruschetta and a salad - we had to send the salad back. It said on the menu it was roasted courgette, spinach and burrata - but literally was a bowl of un-dressed spinach leaves, with a pile of boiled courgette slices on top with some average tasting burrata. They kindly took it off the bill as we'd sent it back, but even with just two mains & two soft-drinks - the bill ended up being £40. Won't be back, unless it drastically improves.

Came here for a work lunch, reserving a table for a larger group but we didn’t need to as it was very quiet. The decor was very light and open, emphasising the counters of food to buy as well, but the elevator style jazz music was a little off putting during the meal. The food was nice enough (pasta was very fresh), but the meatballs were only ok. The waiter did warn that they would be a little pink inside, which would have been fine, but they were still a little cold in the middle which wasn’t great. The chocolate pasticciotto was pretty good for dessert though. The prices were reasonable for the portions too, so while I probably wouldn’t return given the other options in the area it’s not a bad place if you want a quieter casual but sit-down meal.

Habíamos reservado una mesa para las 7 pm de un sábado para 2 personas, sin embargo, terminamos nuestras compras antes gracias esperado. Entramos y preguntamos si podíamos sentarnos antes, solo había otras dos mesas con clientes y, por alguna razón, se nos mostró sentados justo al lado de estas dos mesas.

El entrante Bruscetta estaba extremadamente seco, suave y difícil de cortar. Estaba muy decepcionado con eso. Tuve que agregar un poco de balsámico para darle un poco de sabor. Tuve que pedir cuchillos. La pasta estaba bastante dura y poco hecha. Tomó una buena cantidad de masticación, pero en su defensa sí menciona que la pasta se cocina al dente en el menú. Mi pasta al salmone tenía muy pocas piezas de salmón reales y de nuevo era bastante soso. Disfruté el postre. El vino de la casa fue realmente agradable. El servicio fue bueno y atento. Estaba bastante ocupado y otros estoy seguro de que estaban disfrutando de su comida, pero desafortunadamente no nosotros.

Visited for lunch with colleagues. Food was all delicious, including amazing burrata, charcuterie and sausage pasta. Wine also good and service was excellent.

Este es un restaurante de comida italiana realmente acogedor y de alta calidad en un lugar tranquilo cerca del mercado de Borough. El lugar está muy bien organizado, la comida, directamente de Italia, muy sabrosa. Y también apreciamos mucho la cortesía y la cálida bienvenida de Carmelo y todo el personal. ¡Recomendamos encarecidamente esta preciosa joya italiana en el corazón de Londres!

The food in this place leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered pasta, the orrechiette ragu, a Puglian classic pasta which I have enjoyed in Puglia and indeed made myself. When it came (in a chipped white pasta bowl), I could see the pasta was simply barely coated in a very basic tomato sauce and I counted approx 5 pieces of very grey looking beef sitting amongst the pasta. What a joke! I started to eat it thinking SURELY this can't taste as bad as it looks, but it did. How is this ever considered a ragu sauce which is traditionally a very rich meaty sauce I do not know. The tomato sauce was watery and had no flavour and the beef was like strips of old boot. The orrechiette was gluey and stodgy. To top it off, some bland cheese had been grated on top which was so far from parmesan, I did wonder if it was cheddar cheese! An embarrassment to the wonderful Italian cuisine. AVOID.

Et sent aftensmåltid blev indtaget på Pulia. Sød og serviceminded betjening. Pastaretter var gode (dog en smule underkogt), vine var for dyre ift smag og kvalitet. Musikken var en kende for høj.

We ran into this restaurant while taking a walk. It's a nice find with good italian food. The pasta was made fresh and the service was wonderful. Nice little spot near the river.

An attractively decorated Italian restaurant with excellent fresh ingredients. Yummy things are also for sale. One of the best near the market. Good selection of Italian wine by glass and bottle. The fresh smoothie drinks were excellent.

Ci sono stato due volte, entrambe ho mangiato benissimo. Pesce molto fresco e preparato alla perfezione. Ma il punto forte è la pasta artigianale, così buona è davvero una rarità a Londra.

I visited Pulia with friend on a Saturday afternoon. It was around 6pm and the restaurant was empty as it was probably between services.

Highly recommended for lunch but also for dinners with friends. Great atmosphere friendly and chill. The food is top notch ,delicious and good quality. One of my favourite restaurants.

A stunning meal. Wonderful antipasti followed by outstandingly good fresh pasta. This is a place to treasure. Delicious fare. Lovely helpful staff. One to return to.

Unsmiling waiters who desperately try to appear cool Italian are out of tune with today’s needs. No finesse and no charm. Food so ordinary it insults the palate. The meat with the pasta was tasteless and the sauce bland. My wife’s parmigiana was okay but ‘we don’t serve parmigiano as it doesn’t come from Puglia’. I have visited Puglia on many occasions and always been served Grana or Parmigiano on my pasta. The fresh pasta is okay and served nicely al dente but do something about the sauces. And a little charm from the staff might help.

Just a minute walk from busy Borough Market we found Pulia, a lovely authentic Italian restaurant with contemporary decor and traditional Pugliese menu.

After a busy day in London, Piccola and I chose Pulia to finish the day properly. And a good choice it was. I always maintain that Puglia is my favourite region for food in Italy thanks to the quality of ingredients and an uncomplicated cuisine. Pulia matched my predicament to a large extent. The room is spacious and well lit and the staff were very polite and prompt. Piccola started with nodini (sort of twisted mozzarella) with capocollo and her sudden silence was the best seal of approval. Orecchiette were on the menu but not in my preferred variant so I timidly asked the manager if there was a chance that I could have it with "cime di rape". The answer was "si puo' fare" (it can be done) which doesn't happen very often and after 15 minutes there it was: perfectly cooked pasta, tender greens, a touch of anchovy and toasted breadcrumbs - just perfect and a generous portion too. For main we both had "zampina pugliese" which is grilled open sausage with roast potatoes. The sausage could have done with a touch more grilling but we were happy nevertheless. In the end we were pretty full and satisfied. Good value too, definitely recommended.

Abbiamo cenato in questo delizioso ristorante italiano a Londra e devo dire che siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti per la qualita' del cibo, lo staff era gentilissimo ed il prezzo non era esagerato per i standard londinesi. We tried to get into Padella but the wait time was too long so were advised to try Pulia by someone in Borough Market. I have to say it really is a poor excuse for an Italian restaurant being Italian myself. The starter was bearable however the pasta dishes are mediocre and highly priced for what they are. We should have realised that the food wasn't up to much as when we entered there were only 4 people in the restaurant. Why is it so difficult to get something as simple as pasta or Italian food in general so wrong.

That’s for sure the most unexpected surprise of an Italian restaurant abroad. The restaurant is authentic Italian from Apulia: the meals are amazing and carefully prepared as any Italian mum will do... “feed for love”. The ingredients are fantastic: from the olives to the focaccia...

An authentic spot of Italy in London. We had excellent Orecchiette and a juicy Burrata with Cime di Rapa that was really fresh. If you’re out and about around Borough Market it’s an excellent place for a meal. Lovely friendly and. quick service was a plus.

Four of us, all vegetarian, went for lunch to Pulia. At 1.15 pm, admittedly on Easter Sunday, we were the first customers to the restaurant so were somewhat nonplussed. However, within a few minutes a group of seven Italians, all clearly visiting to eat food from their home region entered so we were greatly reassured.

I visited for dinner with a friend. The restaurant looks good, staff were nice. The food was good but not amazing. I won’t be giving it a second chance because I do not want to pay £45 for a bottle of pinot Grigio.

The pasta was a bit strange, I know what al-dente is but this was weird and rubbery in both mine and my wife's dish. The rest of the dishes weren't amazing either, the beef special was essentially shepherds pie with pasta. Deserts were very nice (would recommend the Tiramisu), as was the wine. They did get my friends order wrong, and we'd all finished by the time they brought him the correct dish.

went here for a birthday lunch with work friends as found the restaurant online as close to office. loved the simple white decor with decorated tables. menu looked inviting and a work colleague recommended the burrata with rocket salad and baked tomatoes which i’d never tried and a rosemary and olive mufffin which we shared which didn’t disappoint! had the sausage pasta for main which was tasty and a nice glass of prosecco. asked the waiter to bring out a gluten free carrot and pistachio cake which they bought over and sung in italian with a candle it which was a nice touch. definitely will return and erica are waitress was great.

After failing to get into two favourite places in Borough Market, we ended up here at Pulia. We were not disappointed, the meal was lovely.

Booked a table here due to the good reviews and that it was very close to our hotel which we were arriving at late evening.

We had high expectations and we were not disappointed, upon arrival we were warmly greeted and seated.

The restaurant was not busy but service was unwelcoming & slow, we didn't get a smile the whole evening from any of the staff. No apology given when the bill had 2 additional items that were not ours - luckily service is not included.

My partner and I came here one Friday evening. Lovely decor and super friendly staff. We both had pasta which was cooked to perfection! We had visited Puglia last year and found the restaurant very authentic and we felt as though we could have been in a Puglia town. Will definitely return.

I am from Puglia region in south Italy and I tried this place to taste a bit of home flavors. Indeed quality of food is very good and very similar to that one you can have in Italy. The chef accommodated all our requests. Despite the location in London bridge, prices are in the avarege. Athmospere is great. It is a cosy and warm place to spend a date or have an aperitif with colleagues. I recommend this place and certainly I will come back soon. 100% Italian !

The decor was good but the food and service were really awful. Portions were inadequate for the price charged and the staff had very little idea of their job.

A restaurant and deli in one. The food was pretty authentic - pasta cooked al dente, with a good range of seasonal ingredients, well cooked and delicious. The wine list was pretty short, but the house red was lovely. There are a lot of tables in a very small space and so it's not the best place for a catch up as you are literally rubbing elbows with your neighbours, but a nice change from the majority of restaurants serving lacklustre pasta.

The food was delicious and it felt like a real Italian restaurant but don't expect to find pizza on the menu! I had the Parmigiana . The charcuterie board that we ordered was explained to us item by item. Delicious Italian deserts. Closes at 7pm on Sunday evening; we had booked online but it wasn't full. Only quibble would be that the main course plates hadn't been warmed.

Ristorantino pugliese ben arredato e accogliente. La cena, a base di antipasti e primi, è stata di nostro gradimento. I prodotti (burratina, prosciutto crudo ecc) sono freschi e di buona qualità. Tappa consigliata per qualsiasi italiano presente a Londra (anche se per un breve periodo).

Thursday night meal - good choice of pastas and salad and pasta is excellent cooked. Service was unfortunately a bit slow, they did however give us complimentary olives to apologise.

If you like southern Italian food and wine I absolutely recommend you try Pulia. The meat and cheese platter was quite original, my meatballs were as expected , the Malvasia Nera was amazingly smooth and service was excellent

5 italian friends from Andria (Apulia) that decided to eat something near London Bridge have been lucky enough to find this hidden gem!

In Primis voglio ringraziare tutto il personale per la gentilezza e professionalità..un locale ben curato con ottimi vini e un servizio abbastanza accogliente da sentirsi a casa. Cucina pugliese con piatti freschi e sapori abbastanza delicati al palato. Un saluto a Giuseppe una persona che ha dato molto alla nostra cena..precisione e eleganza nel servirci e ha lasciato un segno che di sicuro ci fará ritornare per la sua simpatia. Ottima organizzazione e un locale che consiglio a tutti.

Finally, I found a place in London where to eat real food from my Italian region ( Puglia). For the first time, I had tasty authentic buckwheat focaccia in London as I was in Puglia. All the pasta also is homemade and the menú offer real specialty from my region without messing around or create any funny combo (chicken pasta) that we use to see here in London. I really felt at home and that also thanks to Giuseppe ( the waiter) and Roberto ( the brilliant manager). I will definitely come back. The last thing also important. the place is not expensive at all and indeed absolutely affordable! ENJOY GUYS!

I’ve been to Pulias several times now, and have had a consistent and amazing experience each time. Most recently, 7 of my colleagues and I dined here on a Thursday after drinks in the Market. The ambience was so refreshing and friendly, it felt like spending time in someone’s home, rather than in a public restaurant. We had plenty of space, great service, and the appetizers/ specials and regular mains were delicious. Authentic Italian. More importantly, we could all hear one another and not be pushed around by customers in an overcrowded restaurant, nor did we have to scream to hear one another. The staff provided great recommendations, and let us all casually stay even 20 mins after closing while they cleaned up. They didn’t rush us and were very accommodating/ flexible. This service is hard to come by in that area of London, which is why I had to write a review!

Have eaten at many places around London Bridge over the years, but never at Pulia. My loss! Had a tremendous lunch here the other day: beautiful freshly cooked pasta, perfectly seasoned, burrata to die for and a very nice house red wine. Stylish, authentic and not overpriced given its location.

I’ve been to the restaurant in Brindisi (I’m from Puglia) and I was super happy when I found out there was one in London as well. I moved here a couple of years ago and finding real food from Puglia it’s not an easy task. Not to talk about the true apulian restaurant vibe. Pulia has it all. You can feel it as soon as you walk in. All the red pumi around, the tv screen that shows you amazing landscapes, trulli and prickly pears. It feels like you are back home. The food is amazing. We started with the focaccia board with capocollo and nodini. I then had the gnocchi with tomato mousse and burrata and my partner had the strozzapreti allo stracotto. For dessert we had the very reason why we chose Pulia for our dinner: the pasticciotto, my favorite apulian pastry. It was really good (so good that we bought two more for breakfast the next day).

A real Italian restaurant with the taste of south Italy, I got recommend from a friend about this place and yes I will definitely come back!! And the waiter Giuseppe provide us a great and fast service!

I was with my boyfriend at the Italian restaurant because we longed for a good plate of pasta and we did well to choose the Pulia restaurant. Giuseppe has done a great service. I recommend it and we will definitely be back.

Perfect restaurant for a lunch break. Food is delicoius and service is fast. The burratina al tartufo ad a stanted is to due for. I'll be back tomorrow...I can resist
