Pug Uglys in Belfast

The bar was nearly empty roughly 20 to 30 people 3 bar staff on waited 12 minutes on being served when a couple came in wanting food the bar staff had no problem serving them waited another few minutes and then left so rude 😒

Sports bar that needs table reservation as if you don’t reserve they won’t serve you food even if you wait patiently for a table. Bizarre for sports bar food!

The food was out of this world we both had the Guinness Tacos which were to die for. The best I have ever had. Service was lovely and it’s site a cool atmosphere . This was Monday lunch so it was not too busy but still nice.

Hired the room above for my 50th Birthday. Delicious food but I ordered too much as I did not realize how big the portions were. Excellent service from the staff. Perfect room which was also child friendly. Would highly recommend this for any party.

GREAT FOOD FOR A PUB! Really upmarket Northern Irish pub (that looks more like an American-style Saloon) - the atmosphere was good and it was a pleasant place to get some food and drink. Ordered some buttermilk wings and a Guinness and the service was really quick. Can't complain about the portion sizes either, they're massive. Only downside is that it's a bit pricey compared to other places around here, but other than that - you get what you pay for, especially on the food. Definitely worth checking out one evening!

Gin tonic glass is not right, and expensive with £8.6 with tonic and shot of Gin.

Has sport, beers, food and a good atmosphere. Dog friendly, kid friendly during the day. £10 lunch is bang on

On arrive our booking had mysteriously ceased to exist, now I understand mistakes happen but….the customer service was awful the guy behind the bar could not have cared less and desperately needs so training in customer service and a major change of attitude given he works in the SERVICE INDUSTRY. Don’t waste your time there are places all around who care about their customers. Go there instead.

Booked a table for myself and 6 friends on Saturday night for dinner, but sadly never got to experience it. I was unable to book a table online for our party due to the party size and advised to phone in order to book a table. I phoned pug ugly’s 10 days prior to the booking and spoke to a male member of staff. He took my details and confirmed the booking. When we arrived for our booking, I was greeted by a member of staff who informed me he had no record of our booking. He asked when did I phone and book it and I explained it was on the 10th Jan (10 days in advance) asked me who I spoke to, but I was never given a name. I even showed him the call record of my phone to prove I had phoned pug ugly’s. I was then told again I have no booking for u and I can’t get you a table.. sadly the member of staff did not appear in any way to try and facilitate us. We got no apology and he clearly didn’t give a dam, even though pug ugly’s failed to record a simple booking via telephone. The annoyance of this all, was that we had tickets to attend a venue close by and we’re on a tight timescale. So we were left to hang high and dry in regards to getting a meal before our venue. Don’t think myself or anyone from our party booking will be attending pug ugly’s again. 👎

Fantastic place, amazing food and the best part: dog friendly. We'll be back for sure.

I came here for some drinks recently on a Thursday night. The atmosphere was good and they had a live singer later on in the evening. We didn’t have any of the food.

We had the Yorkshire pudding wrap and a turkey dinner. The wrap was soggy and chewy. The turkey dinner would have been enjoyable only it was cold and the gravy was sitting with a film over it. Rather unfortunate as we were quite excited. Service wasn't great however it was a pub and we happened to book for during a rugby match so I won't rate too harshly based on that.

In the area yesterday (Friday) over from South Devon in England with a couple of mates ahead of the Crusaders v Linfield football match today. The plan was to have a Guinness in each bar we visited until it was time to get back to our accommodation to watch the England game on TV. Had one in The Points, one in Filthy McNasty's, one in Wetherspoon's then wandered around the corner and found what we had been looking for. I instantly liked the vibe in the place. Service was great from the bar staff, something that was lacking in our previous hostelries. We didn't eat, but the food on the nearby tables looked good. Music was just starting (5pm) and solo artist Micko was excellent. Liked it so much we stopped for three each! We will definitely be returning tonight. Can highly recommend. 🎶 🍺🍺🍺🎵

Staff very arrogant, unhelpful and unfriendly. Cheeky to customers for no Apparent reason. Very cocky attitude, and make fun of people who aren't familiar with the way it operates.

Visited the pub for a Monday lunch . One of the only truly pet friendly establishments in Belfast - we were very welcomed with our dog inside and he even got some water. The food was delicious- we got loaded fries and buffalo chicken roll. The portions are huge - could not even finish ! Definitely recommend !

Used to like good Ng here. But the bouncers say it's closes at 11.

Called in for a Sunday treat after a day in Belfast. Ordered a starters of ckn wings (12 pieces to share) 2 turkey dinners and a burger and chips. Plenty of staff on duty but standing about chatting to each other perhaps that’s why our starters arrived at The same time as our main meals!! The turkey and ham dinner especially the potatoes were cold and the dinner was COVERED in thick tasteless gravy! What a disappointment we should’ve stuck to our original plan and went to Nandos!!

Great food but moved to watch the Ireland match as the atmosphere was a bit subdued.

Good atmosphere in here on a Friday evening. Live music, reasonably priced drinks. I did witness a member of staff who was supposed to be checking the toilet just open the door, sign the sheet and then close the door again, though!

A good warm hearted place with good bar food and drinks the atmosphere suits Belfast. Bar staff could be more attentive however we live in a changing world and customer service as we new prior to covid is gone.

Stopped in for a pint while touring the city by foot. Staff was great and recommended a Jameson and Ginger for me as I don't drink beer. Great service and loved the atmosphere.

Firstly I will start with the food which I won't complain about as it was very delicious and I want to mention the young waitress also who looked after us and was very friendly and polite, I didn't get get name but she was small with dark hair, she was outstanding so thumbs up to her and the chef but unfortunately the 3 stars are for the arrival in pug uglys. On arrival I went to bar and says to young lady with nose pearcing that I had a reservation for 7pm and she walked off to check but when she arrived back at the bar about 5 mns later she continued to serve customers and clean glasses leaving me standing there like a spare tool, it would of been nice of her if she came over to let me know what was happening. Both myself and partner felt very awkward and wanted to leave but unfortunately I had booked and left my bank card details online and if I hadn't turned up I would be charged a fee so I ordered drinks at the bar and stood for about 10 - 15 mns before another member of staff came looking for us, we only noticed she was looking for us when we overheard another couple saying they haven't got a reservation so we went over and asked if it was us which turned out it was. Taken to our table it was filthy of crumbs and some vegetables and wet also so we had to ask the girl who brought the menus over if she could wipe down our table please as it hasn't been cleaned. She did apologise and from then on the food and service from the new girl who appeared was great but unfortunately I don't think I'll rush bk nxt time I visit Belfast.

I love this pub 💚. I've been there for have a lunch some weeks ago, in my visit of Belfast. The food was awesome, the staff lovely and the Guinnes delicious.

Horrible staff and blunders, physically abused

Worst experience I have come across. Staff were rude and incompetent, dinner was cold although plentiful, I ordered a drink from three different staff members before I got my food but never got the drink, one member of staff behind the bar dismissed me by just saying “I’m busy “ there were lots of people around the bar counter waiting for drinks with 3ir 4 behind the bar, one decent barman would have been sufficient. I am a tour guide but won’t be recommending the Pug Ugly to any of our clients.

Vicky poured the crispest pint of Hop House I’ve ever tasted. 5* would recommend to a friend. Tony at the table beside us also knew a good few card tricks, called himself the dazzler

5.50 a pint is average in Belfast but they had very little draught that was working

Just moved in to belfast, and as I was walking around, I heard some lovely live music and decided to pop in, so ordered a drink and sat down for about half an hour, and thoroughly enjoyed my time there

Couldn't get served despite pub being half empty. Asked twice for ice for drinks and was ignored. Disappointed we left without drinking our drinks. Real pity as musician playing was great for the brief time we heard him. Maybe just an off night.

Called in for a cocktail. Good service. Great live music from a guy playing guitar. Asked a member of staff who was the singer but she didn't know.

Fab little place around the corner f on Wether spoons, food was lovely, ordered the tacos with pulled pork and they were delish for £10, food was fresh and homemade. Friends ordered loaded fries with chicken and gravy and they were stuffed! Buffalo wings were lush. Drinks were first class, Harp on draught and the black stuff. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. We went in about 4.30 so was quiet, but another time at about 7 is got busy and you can see why. Would recommend.

Cold tacos never works out ! But staff were aiming to please they took care of it nice pub but my food went back as it was cold

So, although the food was solid, and the drinks were fine, the bar woman was completely disinterested in being friendly, so no hi, or how’s it going, or smile or anything. She also abandoned making our drinks halfway through to do someone else’s, and walked off each time so I couldn’t order the food at the same time and had to wait for her to get back with the second drink. However, she did have time to talk and smile to her friend who showed up… Bar people are supposed to make everyone feel welcome, and we felt like a mild annoyance.

We had a great time at pug uglys, Sarah Jane was great and helped us find a lost phone, absolute delight. Great drink, food and service.

Called in for a cocktail before making our way to our hotel. Superb Gin Brambles and Cosmopolitans. Music was superb even played our Kings of Leon request. All round superb visit. Keep up the good work !!!

Food was delicious I can't fault it at all, but the service was terrible. We sat down and 10 minutes later no one had come near us, so I went up to the bar and asked for a menu, the younglad gave me one I asked if I order from you he said I think you have to sit down and someone comes down to you. So I go back to the table sit down we pick what we want 20 minutes later we're still sitting there and no one has come near us. We had just got up to leave when a young girl comes to us and asks if we want to order. There was hardly anyone in the place so they weren't busy just poorly organised. Anyway the food was very nice hence why I gave 3 stars, your chef should be commended your staff need better training.

Absolutely loved this pub me and my family has a fantastic night and lovely dinner. Definitely go back on our next trip to Belfast.

Sat on a wooden chair at the table at the door and screws were sticking up luckily felt them before they ripped my trousers!

They don't serve food after 8pm, which is archaic, especially during summer.

Great venue, and dog friendly. Unfortunately didn't get to experience the food. Breakdown in communication between the bar staff and the waiting staff appeared to be the issue.

Great spot in the city centre of Belfast. Staff very welcoming , food and service excellent. My go to spot for dinner or just for a few drinks and watch the sport with friends. Can’t fault it.

Had a fantastic meal and a few jars to help wash the nosh down at Pugs. The food was excellent, staff were great throughout and the vibe was spot on. Only planned on staying for 1 or 2 beers and ended up having 5 or 6. Had a great time. Keep doing what you're doing 👌

We had a great time at Pugs, the service was great and the food bloody excellent. The atmosphere was cracking and we actually ended up going back 2 or 3 times over the course of our weekend. I highly reccomend to anyone looking for a few pints in a great atmosphere and some really good food.

Came across this place by accident while heading towards another pub. It was the Champions League final evening, we went in and got a drink downstairs. It was very busy so we asked if they have more seats. The lady behind the bar said they...

We just popped in before the concert in ulster's Hall to get something to drink and eat, and we were impressed by burgers and atmosphere there. The only thing that made us not sit in as we came with some friends was too loud music.

Booked and paid deposit of £90 in advance for a table for dinner for a hen party of 18. When we arrived they were putting a table together for us in the middle of the floor. 3 tables with chairs pulled from all over pub. We didn't all fit comfortably around the table meaning when dishes arrived it was too crowded for plates. The music was so loud I had to speak directly into the ear of person beside me. With the kitchen closing in under an hour the waitress (who was lovely) went around the table twice rather than take drinks and food order at same time which delayed things further. We were all disappointed with the set up given there were built in long couches that could have been used for us with only a few people scattered about the place and having booked almost a week in advance. The staff were lovely, the food was tasty and reasonably priced, just a pity about unusually loud music and the terrible set up.

We have had a good few Sunday dinners from pug uglys and loved the food.. this time we got our meal and weren’t impressed. The last time we would have preferred more gravy so this time asked for extra. We both got the yorkie wrap...

Tried to order drinks for at least 30 minutes, we asked the waitress to clean the table for 3 times, here goes pictures of our table (we just had 2 drinks), still dirty, we gave up to eat, just ordered a gin with blueberries and a pint, ONLY after the bartender gave me the drink, when I asked where were the blueberries he said there they didn’t have it blueberries. If there wasn’t any blueberry, why sell drinks with blueberries and tell the customer JUST because I asked? It was fine, I had the drink, but when I was going to pay and told the staff I was going to pay a gin with lemon only (because that was what I received) the bartender went to my table saying: “you are going to pay for this gin because you drank it and I told you there was no blueberry”! Terrible service! We waited 30 min to order drinks, didn’t have any food, our table was dirty until the end and I had to pay for something that I didn’t have, because the barman was rude and came with a threatening posture!

Always a fantastic experience at Pug's (formally Morrisons) great atmosphere, unbelievable food and a good selection of beers and drinks. Guinness zero on tap is great too. Great venue for any sporting event with lots of TV ans seats.

went out for a friends 18th birthday and wasnt allowed in for wearing “fancy dress” bouncers were far to serious for a friday night and didn’t understand a joke (we were dressed as golfers).
