Pug Uglys in Belfast

Not much in the way of atmosphere. It's basically a sports bar - grand if you like that kind of thing but not my taste.

Love this place. Great atmosphere.

A good bar but spoilt by the poor bar service and the rude and obnoxious bar staff who don’t appear that they want to work there. Plenty of other great bars in Belfast.

Food not very good standard and cold when served. This was on both occasions at two quite different times and dates.

Great selection of drinks and the food menu looked good. Nice big bar. Friday nights live music was great.

Booked the upstairs function room for a surprise 30th and just wanted to say a big thank you to the girls and guys behind the bar. They were a great help with setting up decorations, serving the food and the clear up after too! Would definitely recommend for a party!

It's great to be able to have a bite to eat and a glass of beer with your pet by your side, I really don't understand why more pubs and restaurants won't allow pets, we have moved on landlords from the 80s it's about time you all did the same, pet's and owners are well behaved and very responsible.

Go get a Guinness draft beer! Very pleasant staff! I don’t think there’s any need to order food! We only order Guinness beer. Two glasses of Guinness draft beer came to about £12! I think it would be nice to go and have a drink. It was very good

Booked a table for myself and my two boys and brought our little miniature dachshund pup along too, was her first time being out with us in any restaurant/social setting. Staff were amazing, food was lush, cocktails were lovely. all in all a great experience for our family pooch included she was super chill.

Website needs updating, out of date menu/event info. Burgers are good. Sriracha chicken burger very big. Would recommend for a mixed group if some eating and some just drinking- would not recommend to come just for food though, limited options.

I visited here on a recommendation, and I'm glad I did. The service is excellent. Great customer service. The food is tasty. The atmosphere is lively, to say the least, especially when there is a football game on, be prepared to be croaky the next day after having to shout if you wanted conversation.

Hadn't been thru the doors here in years...visited again at the invitation of two pals...glad I did..!

Friendly staff, good food and atmosphere

Held a private function in their lounge and it was fantastic- just the right size for what we wanted, (just under 80 people) we had three excellent and very attentive bar staff. They have a selection of food options ranging from finger food to sit down meal options. We went for a buffet- pizza, chicken goujons, sandwiches- just a selection for our guests, they were great, everyone enjoyed the food and the bar manager did a really good deal for us on the price and was really helpful. Would recommend and would book again!

The Sunday roast wasn't the best, they put supper in the gravey. It didn't say in maniu and beef was tough

Nice wee bar. Good food for the price but 6.20 for a pint of Guinness? What is this London prices for a so called "capital" 😂😂and I assure you it was not the best Guinness in Belfast. Have one and then move on. But the guy Eoghan behind the bar was great! My guyyy

I don't say this lightly... Pugs does a better Sunday Roast than my Mum. There, I said it! It's a great place with an awesome atmosphere. The staff are fantastic and very attentive. I also don't think that I've ever had a bad meal here, it's a rock solid choice for a good night out 👌

Came in to order some food and drinks and watch the football. Went up at half time to pay and enquired about student discount that was advertised, and was told yes that I could get it after presenting my student id. The server took a good few minutes at the till which I assumed was sorting the discount, but upon paying and seeing the receipt I realised the discount wasn't added. I asked another waiter could it be looked at as I was charged full price. About 15 minutes later I was given cash as the difference, even though I paid by card. I advised that I would prefer a card refund as I don't use cash and I paid for card so the money needs to go back to my card. A man came down who I assume was management and was extremely rude to me, he said they don't do card refunds and that they don't have to give student discount, even though it's clearly advertised. He then said he didn't even see my student card, so I offered to show him and he said no he didn't want to see it. He then said I was getting cash and that's it and walked away. I obviously got the difference of the money which is the main thing, and to be honest I didn't care so much about the money, it was the service of trying to pay, them offering student discount and not knowing how to apply it, and then the rudeness of management. A card transaction should be refunded to the card being paid, any POS system is capable of this, the man just decided that he would be rude for absolutely no reason. Won't be back.

Simple, tasty and inexpensive Ribs, Chicken Wings Buffalo, Self-made Fries, Steaks and Live Music

Cool pop music and nice waitress, but she said there will be no problem of making vegetarian option vegan and then I got the burrito full of cheddar cheese… please don’t force other mothers stolen milk on other when they ask for that…

Ducked in here to get out of the rain, ended up having food and drinks. We shared the deep fried lasagne bites - which were absolutely amazing! Parmesan fries and Mac and cheese were also very tasty. Nice friendly staff, although they were abit short staffed so we had a small wait for drinks initially. Would definitely recommend for food.

Really nice place. Dog friendly. Great atmosphere, lovely selection of drinks. The food was SUPER 🔥🔥🔥. I can't speak anymore. Ordered the chicken barbacoa tacos and the buffalo chicken goujouns. Both are still brining through my soul.

Stopped in for a Sunday roast and we were so happy. I had seen this place on Tiktok with great reviews for their food and we were not disappointed! We both opted for the turkey and ham roast dinner and it was absolutely delicious. Excellent hearty portions and everything was fresh, flavourful, and probably reaches in my top 5 best roast dinners I've had all time. I have to especially compliment the gravy for its richness and generous quantity, as well as the incredible turkey and ham which again was plentiful and so juicy and moist. Great selection with all the trimmings including stuffing, cauliflower cheese, turnip/carrots/cabbage and roasties. Amazing!!! Also it was incredible value.

Bald door man without tats is a psychopath. Ruining the ambience for everyone else because he's giving misery! Boy bye!

Great place dog friendly as well. Staff great and friendly. Attentive to dog to can be inside and give dog water bowl too.

Decent pub close to the centre of Belfast. Didn't eat here but the beer selection was good too.

Eoghan…… was nothing but spectacular all night long, i also should mention, I met him before i came to the bar and he remembered me, pretty impressive. His customer service is second to none!!! what an asset!!!!

Food was just barely warm and over salted, but the guys serving us were lovely.

Had a really enjoyable lunch here with some friends. Atmosphere, decor was really cosy. Didn't realise it was dog-friendly, so it was great seeing people come in with their little buddies. Service was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful. Only criticism was with the food. I'm not a fussy eater, but I ordered a southern fried/spicy chicken dirty fries. Taste was excellent. However, the coating was so hard in places that I couldn't bite it. It meant I had to carefully try each mouthful and remove the hard bits that I found. And there were a lot. I don't know if this was how it was meant to be or a one-off issue. My friends said their food was excellent.

I found this place ok nice staff but the toilets could of been a bit cleaner.

The bar was nearly empty roughly 20 to 30 people 3 bar staff on waited 12 minutes on being served when a couple came in wanting food the bar staff had no problem serving them waited another few minutes and then left so rude 😒

Have had lunch here the last 2 weeks in a row. The staff are all total sweethearts. The food is delicious. Not fancy, not posh, just yummy and ridiculous amounts of it. It's doggo friendly and my wee guy Murphy said is steak was 5 woofs!!! Right in the city centre, its great for parking. They have an astonishing array of spirits and when I asked what they had 0% alcohol (didn't fancy a coke etc) they had a great choice of those too.

Friday evening, live music was excellent. Nice atmosphere. Managed to get a table. Serve Guinness 0.0 from the surge tin things. Great! Toilets are located upstairs and quite a trek away but disabled facilities available on the ground floor, if you can get by the large step at the front door. Didn't get to have food as was in too late and just for drinks but menu looked good. Typical pub grub. It was a chilly night but the bar was a nice temperature.

Music blasting all the time or sports on TV turned up to 11. If it was a more club type bar grand but it's not. If you want to be able to talk to your mates go somewhere else.

Sports bar that needs table reservation as if you don’t reserve they won’t serve you food even if you wait patiently for a table. Bizarre for sports bar food!

Honestly expected better from this place as it seems to hold itself to a high standard. Booking ahead is required and upon our arrival, when informed we had booked ahead, the staff seemed confused. The server we spoke to just mumbled something and then walked off. We were left standing there for 8 minutes while others were served at the bar before finally being seated - keep in mind the place was almost empty; there were only 2 or 3 other small parties there. Food was below average for the area. Other pubs we visited had more flavorful food with more toppings. Live music was nice. The bartender when we arrived was very standoffish (one who walked away), but the other 2 servers we had were friendly. Relatively disappointing overall.

Always visit here when I'm in Belfast super food and staff.. would also recommend the Guinness it's very decent compared to other pubs in the area..

Turned up at 4pm on a Sunday with live football playing which I’d come to watch. I asked about food and was asked if I’d reserved a table?? As I hadn’t, even though I waited for a table and then secured one, I was then told they were no longer taking orders (4.30pm). The Very disappointing.

I was here to watch the rugby and each time a better seat became available the waitress asked us if we wanted to move.. We ended up with a great seat, and Ireland won. Staff friendly and beer cold.

The food was out of this world we both had the Guinness Tacos which were to die for. The best I have ever had. Service was lovely and it’s site a cool atmosphere . This was Monday lunch so it was not too busy but still nice.

We went for lunch here. There was a £10 lunch deal on qnd and a drink for an extra £2. I had the pasta and bacon with garlic bread. It was so good the portion size was big. My husband had the wings and lots of them with salad. Staff very friendly..

Went here to meet some friends and we were having a great time till we came to order food, my partner gets student discount in here which is valued at 20% however as there was 12 of us they added a 10% service charge on top but this was never mentioned when we ordered or even on the receipt. This should have been mentioned when we ordered and shown in the bar somewhere but it never was. Food was OK but I doubt we will be back again

Hired the room above for my 50th Birthday. Delicious food but I ordered too much as I did not realize how big the portions were. Excellent service from the staff. Perfect room which was also child friendly. Would highly recommend this for any party.

GREAT FOOD FOR A PUB! Really upmarket Northern Irish pub (that looks more like an American-style Saloon) - the atmosphere was good and it was a pleasant place to get some food and drink. Ordered some buttermilk wings and a Guinness and the service was really quick. Can't complain about the portion sizes either, they're massive. Only downside is that it's a bit pricey compared to other places around here, but other than that - you get what you pay for, especially on the food. Definitely worth checking out one evening!

Gin tonic glass is not right, and expensive with £8.6 with tonic and shot of Gin.

Has sport, beers, food and a good atmosphere. Dog friendly, kid friendly during the day. £10 lunch is bang on

On arrive our booking had mysteriously ceased to exist, now I understand mistakes happen but….the customer service was awful the guy behind the bar could not have cared less and desperately needs so training in customer service and a major change of attitude given he works in the SERVICE INDUSTRY. Don’t waste your time there are places all around who care about their customers. Go there instead.

Booked a table for myself and 6 friends on Saturday night for dinner, but sadly never got to experience it. I was unable to book a table online for our party due to the party size and advised to phone in order to book a table. I phoned pug ugly’s 10 days prior to the booking and spoke to a male member of staff. He took my details and confirmed the booking. When we arrived for our booking, I was greeted by a member of staff who informed me he had no record of our booking. He asked when did I phone and book it and I explained it was on the 10th Jan (10 days in advance) asked me who I spoke to, but I was never given a name. I even showed him the call record of my phone to prove I had phoned pug ugly’s. I was then told again I have no booking for u and I can’t get you a table.. sadly the member of staff did not appear in any way to try and facilitate us. We got no apology and he clearly didn’t give a dam, even though pug ugly’s failed to record a simple booking via telephone. The annoyance of this all, was that we had tickets to attend a venue close by and we’re on a tight timescale. So we were left to hang high and dry in regards to getting a meal before our venue. Don’t think myself or anyone from our party booking will be attending pug ugly’s again. 👎
