Food was very oily at the time it feels like a juice of oil was just in your mouth when biting in the fish

Well and truly the worst you can get - even the seagulls refuse to eat it.

Horrible , chips wernt cooked properly , curry sauce was nearly cold , sausages was tasteless

Freshly cooked , so the service was a bit slow but we enjoyed the food. It wasn't greasy and would go again:)

New owner was very helpful and cooked all 6 meals fresh. Chips were perfectly done and overall great service from Uncle. Fresh salads and nice cold drinks. Thank you for accommodating all our requirements and for the extra sauces and salad box. We would definitely come again.

It was closed. We had couldn't have fish n chips on the promenade, we went to Papas on the high street.

The neighbours are quite loud and being on the seafront practically you would think they had a bigger menu, use to be so good But now you can’t pay card, could do with better quality control on the chips

Fish was lovely and white, chips were really nice too, just a real shame about the batter, it was far too thick and raw. Was like a fish in between two uncooked American style pancakes. Had to leave the batter but the rest was nice.

Went August bank holiday Sunday. All the other chip shops had a large queue. Uncle Gs only had a short queue, now I know why! The frying oil was old which made the food tasty of dirty oil and nothing else. Batter was a strange colour, with grease pouring through your finger tips. Has put me off eating fish and chips.

1 star should be none! Absolutely 🤢 rubber fish and need a jigger pick to get through the 8th time cooked chips kebab resembles dry bark only thing missing the vicar to give your food the last rites!

Tons of places to choose for fish and chips here but we were so happy we found this place! We had the cod and chips special for £6 each and we were not disappointed! Really nice fish cooked fresh, crispy batter and such a good size for the price!! Really made our trip to the sea side today!!

Visited today ordered fish and chips which were really nice, portion was quite small for the price though. Also ordered a cheese burger for my son, very pricey(£4.40) Just for the burger, he didn’t really like it, too thick and cheese wasn’t slice cheese was grated cheese and didn’t taste very nice. But overall great fish and chips

I truly enjoyed my fish and chips at Puffins. They were amazingly light and fluffy fish and chips; not at all greasy or stodgy.

Fish and chip lunch for six people during a busy lunchtime. Very impressed with the quality of the fish with crispy non greasy batter. Chips were pretty good and the girl behind the counter was friendly. The service was quite slow but in fairness they were cooking the food fresh to order. Nice to see the cook checking internal temperature of the fish with a thermometer. I wish my local chippie was this good.

Visited here on a weekend away, it was the best cod in batter I have ever had, I don't normally eat much of the batter, but there's was so crispy and dry, I eat it all, the cod was lovely too. Chips were good too

Could not fault our fish and chips, cooked perfectly. So yummy. 2 of us had cod and chips and one had the special which is Hake. We were all impressed with the Hake and would definitely go for that next time as its slightly cheaper. Cod was lovely though. This is our go to fish and chip restaurant in Weston now. We've tried a few and some more expensive but this was tastier than I've had in a long time!

Although I'm not a huge fan of fish and chips, but this place quickly changed my mind.. The chips are nice and a very tasty fish, the flavours danced on my pallet, it felt i was in heaven.

Arrived in Weston earlier today and thought about fish n chips by the sea....Waited for fresh food ..... thinking great however what was served was a covering of chips and a piece of fish all of which were nothing but grease the worse we have ever tasted. appalling, binned and went elsewhere

Ate here whilst visiting the pier. I'm sorry but the food I thought was average. The chips looked like they had been sat around too long and tasted dry and luke warm. The fish however was lovely and huge. The staff were nice and friendly.I was disappointed that after eating the chips we went back up to try the fish as my wife had spotted the size of them and thought it was too good not to try and I was charged £10.50 for just the fish. I asked if that was right and the lady said because I wasn't having chips (as I had already bought them 5 minutes ago) I had to pay extra. Bit odd?! To be honest though the fish was enough for 2 and my wife said it was delicious, so mixed feelings really. I would eat here again and I'm just going to presume that the dry chips were because they had cooked too many for the very quiet service and so wouldn't normally be like they were.Again amazing fish!

Food was good but only one waitress slowed everything down! They need more glasses as we had to wait ages to get 2!

Took a trip down to Weston-super-Mare on Sun 30th with lots of family. We obviously had to have fish and chips for lunch as we were by the seaside and we are so glad we chose puffins to have our meal!! The fish was fresh and had a lovely crunchy, crispy, light batter, chips were absolutely gorgeous too! Also a family member ordered a cheeseburger and that looked stunning and tasted amazing also.....a lot better than going to mcdonalds for a burger trust me! Also couldn't fault the staff as they were friendly and polite and must of been a hot weekend for them! forgot to mention that the prices are good and reasonable.recommend to anyone who wants fish and chips that is in or comes to Weston to go Puffins! We will be back next time!!

Me and my bf came here for some lunch, I really fancied some fish and chips being by the sea. The service was very good, staff friendly and helpful. The food was lovely, the fish was very tasty and everything was fresh!

First and foremost this is fantastic value. These days fish and chips can cost close to a tenner per portion so is no longer a cheap option for a quick family meal but at Puffins the food is really well priced and delicious. The fish batter was light and crispy and the fish fresh. Nice chips too.The kids meals come in a bucket and spade which the kids love!!We’ll definitely return and recommend :)

i had a lovely mini fish and chips last saturday , they were rushed off their feet due to the airshow , they were very organised , the food was great and the prices were very reasonable , the fish was really tasty , i enjoyed every mouthful

I visited here for tea on bank holiday Monday. It was quite busy and there isn't much room to sit down. The waitress (young girl with blond & orange hair, braces on her teeth and red lipstick) came and took our order and returned a few minutes later asking us to pay which I thought was very strange. She was quite rude and abrupt and certainly didn't provide service with a smile. I paid for our order and when she returned with my change instead of passing it to me she slammed it down on the table and rushed off. Our fish and chips were brought out not long after and to be fair was delicious but the lack of good customer service certainly put me off wanting to come back. My advice would be, find another chip shop, there are plenty to choose from that actually care about their customers and want your business. The attitude of the waitress certainly spoilt our meal!!!

We went in here Saturday 25/5 we went in one door stood in the queue for a couple of minutes, then realised there was a sign that said queue here (which was on the other side) so we went and joined that queue which meant we were next to be served. They could quiet clearly see we were waiting to be served and had stood there for 10 minutes, when 2 people queuing from the wrong side pushed in and they continued to be served whilst we stood there, I was not prepared to move and start queuing again. So we went somewhere else, there is lots of chip shops to chose from so would not chose this again unless this was sorted out.

Tasty fish and crispy chips. Staff are lovely. Kids meals come in a bucket with spade. Indoor seating area is small but very nice

We had the seafood platter and at £5.95 was a brilliant bargain. It was cooked to perfection with a lovely fresh side salad. Lovely staff and very clean premises.

Visited today after searching Weston for a dog friendly restaurant. Stumbled on Puffins and so glad we did.Dogs welcome. Gizmo sat quietly under our table. Quite a small restaurant so we were lucky to get a table for 4 at 1pm on a Saturday. Ordered the cod and chips special with a free drink. Kids had their meals in buckets with spades which they enjoyed taking home.Chips lovely and fluffy and crispy. Cod nice and fresh and battered to perfection. Highly recommended to all. Noticed there was free WiFi not that we used it and also a toilet.Friendly staff with fantastic food. Well worth a visit

Dog friendly, bit tight to sit as tables bit squashed in. That said food service etc was brilliant, pie and chips, fish and chips fab.

Having looked at all the fish and chip shops on Weston Super Made sea we chose Puffins on the corner. What a find the fish and chips were cooked to perfection! Very impressed when the fryer checked the temperature of each fish with a temperature probe. Good size portions and batter and chips so tasty 5*+. Made our sunny day out at WSM a real treat..thanks Puffins!

Sat in the restaurant and ordered small cod and chips and a cup of black tea. It was the most enjoyable plate of fish and chips, delicious, tasty, plentiful and most of all not greasy. Staff were very polite and I would eat here again for sure. It is not expensive and it is clean.

I made the mistake of ordering a single large portion of chips from here yesterday. The staff were being very slow.They had a girl standing in front of a vat full of chips literally waiting for other items to cook for other peoples orders. At any time, she could have served the chips, but she didn't have the initiative to serve me. No I had to wait for other peoples sausages and fish to cook.I waited about another 5 mins and then I tried to pint this out, they got extremely aggressive so I demanded my money back. The owner came over and literally shouted at me to leave and not come back.Make your own minds up good people!

This isnt the first time we have been here for fish and chips. We end the day with food from here before sitting on the beach too enjoy the food.The staff were very helpful when taking our order. You may have a wait while they cook the food, but you can see them cooking. The time waiting doesn't bother us as the food tastes great.The food is served in food trays so was still hot by the time we had sat on the beach too eat, we will be back again.The photo is of the sun setting while we ate our food.

We queued up for a mini fish to keep us going and, at £2.20 for a small battered cod it was excellent value. The queues outside say it all - great food and excellent value for money.

What can I say I had to ask to have the table cleaned before I sat down as such a mess the staff were like zombies not smiling or talkative. I ordered fish and chips which took 47 minutes although there was only 6 people in there and they had all there meals already!Very slow service not very clean admittedly the fish and chips were lovely when I eventually got them! Was not impressed with the little rusty bucket they give you with your cutlery in! Looks like it was 100 years old and not clean.

I would not recommend this place at all! The guy behind the counter spoke little or no English so we spent ages trying to order....which at the end he got it wrong. The place itself is very small and not that clean. Plus, the one window they have that opens, opens right next to a smoking area so it's either you die of the heat or have the pleasure of inhaling loads of smoke. The food could of been better, the fish/sausages were ok but a lot of the chips were green or undercooked. Literally the only positive is that it's only 1 minute from the pier...but so are other cafes.

After arriving late into Weston we had to look for a quick eat for the large family.. cone of chips for a £1.. couple of burgers and lovely battered sausage.. everyone full and happy.. this is in a prime location and I'm sure they get very busy at peak times.. but staff were good and for a family of 7 they got everything right and quickly done.... Will use again

The place is inside a disco pub which is not very pleasant. The serving is very slow but at least is close to beach. Music is too loud for a fish and chips bar/pub. The food is decent even though you don't have too many options, especially for Jack potatoes

We called in here on a hot mid afternoon to sample the fish and chips. Their special was fish and chips with a cup of tea for £6.95 which was very good for the portion size. I ordered a tuna jacket potato with side salad and a cuppa and this was equally good. The potato was great value at £4.95. We ate in rather that having a takeaway and although it was warm in there, it wasn't unbearable. The service we had from the young waitress was delightful. Lovely friendly young lady who was a real credit to them.

Fairly priced for large chips Altho large was equivalent to a normal size. They were ok but had a large amount of potato eyes and black marks across the chips which was a little irritating. They were busy as it was the Weston air show but coped well despite the amount of idiots in there buying chips. Wouldn’t rush back to get more but adequate overall

Visited with my family for lunch. We all had just chips (£1 for a cone) they were fresh, hot and delicious. Good service. Will visit again.

Whilst the chips themselves were very good I was a bit upset that the regular portion I’d purchased at £1.70 didn’t look much different in size to the £1.00 cone of chips my friend ordered - if you’re going to charge significantly more reflect that in the portion size - felt like I’d wasted 70p

A day trip to the seaside means good fish and chips. The wait was soul destroying. I asked how long my order would take and was told it would be a while and was pointed to a sign stating all was cooked fresh. I then saw my pie being cooked in the microwave along with my peas. When the food was finally put on the counter the chips were hard and under cooked. I then asked for my money back and was was met with the comment don’t come back... trust me, not a chance..!!!

To be completely honest I wasn't expecting much when I first walked in. How wrong I was!!I had fish and chips. Both of which where freshly cooked as I waited. I have to say they where the best fish and chips I've had in years. The fish was obviously very fresh with lovely crisp batter and the chips where also nice and crisp on the outside. Loved them.

We ordered chips, sausages and curry sauce to takeaway. Sausages were cold in the middle, curry sauce was not heated correctly and chips were mainly half burned pieces of old chips. Dripping in fat. No one ate their sausages and we’ve all felt sick since. Avoid! We won’t be going back

Chips tasted of nothing but fat and had been fried in old oil. They were crunchy and dark brown. There are plenty of fish and chip shops in the area so do yourselves a favour and avoid this one!

On a cold windy January day, we decided to take the dog to the beech. after trying lots of establishments only to be turned away we found Puffins. A sign on the door says "Dogs welcome with well behaved owners"In we went.There are about 6 tables inside. It is quite old fashioned but all the better for it.The menu is fairly small, however adequate. We ordered and the food came out in good time.The chips were by far the nicest I have had in a long time and the fish was lovely. A meal for two came in at just over £11 What a bargain. We will certainly be back.

First visit with pet dog New Year’s Eve. Weather not the best so was very grateful to be able to eat inside the Puffin restaurant with our dog Max.It’s quite a small place and very friendly atmosphere. Met lots of nice folk in there too!The cod fish was white and meaty and lovely batter. Chips are double fried which may not suit everyone but can understand the owner would not be able to gauge how many customers he would be getting to keep cooking fresh batches as he also caters for takeaway as well.

Though the meal was exquisite, it was not the highlight; a young dashing server caught my eye. Let me clarify something, my bread is not buttered that side, however this young man was a sight for sore eyes. His service was phenomenal, his charm alluring, and his character lit up the mood of the shop. I'd recommend this local shop on its food alone, but this young man Dan made the experience a whole lot better. My thanks to his impeccable service.

This was my second visit to this particular fish and chip shop as I knew that they had a good choice on their menu if you don't want fish and I wasn't disappointed. Yes, there was a bit of a wait for our food but it was hot and the chips were nice and fluffy inside and weren't loaded in grease. The portion sizes were good considering the price you'd paid and I'd happily return again.

Found this place by chance, brilliant choice on the menu, staff were really lovely & the food was great. My daughter loved that her food was served in a bucket with a spade! Decently priced food & everyone really enjoyed what they had to eat. Thank you.

Today we went to Weston and ended up in puffins had a lovely fish and chips fish just broke up and chips fresh and cooked great they do a kids meal which they can have in a bucket and spade and my three kids loved it it was such a novelty and I have never seen it like that any where which is a great idea being at a seaside resort we will defo be going there again in the next couple of months when we go there again can't fault polite service or the food

No, just no, with every other shop in Weston selling fish & chips you can (and should) go elsewhere. Tasted so weird i can't even describe and most of my fish went on the bin,such a disappointment.

Good price, friendly staff, only waited about 10mins for a seated order. The Cod was fresh, the batter was medium to light amd crispy. Cooked in fresh oil as was the chips. Can't understand the negative reviews tbh, I expect some of them have connections to other chip shops nearby, sad to see.Only negative is the young waitresses are wearing virtually see through leggings which are their uniforms. You can see their underwear, perhaps this to attract customers i dont know but its not the place to be seeing knickers. Cover it up girls

We went on a Sunday lunchtime, and the shop was busy with a constant queue. We did have to wait for our food, but it was worth it. There are a few tables outside where we had the most lovely fish and chips I've had for years, the fish batter was really crispy and the chips were nice and crunchy. Everyone enjoyed the meal immensely and we will definitely come here again.

Burger was red and bloody in the middle, and me and my son refused to eat them, the wife's fish's batter was very thick, heavy and over cooked, to hard to eat fish was very greasy, chips were edible, service was slow, don't recommend

The best fish & Chips we have had in a very long time. The place is very small but the service is quick and the food is so nicely cooked with ample portions. The staff were pleasant and efficient and the meal was excellent value for money.Next time we are in Weston-Super-Mare we will certainly pay them a visit.

By far the nicest fish and chips I have ever had, enjoyed our meal so much that we went back two days later and again really enjoyed our meal. Food was hot and not at all greasy. The staff were very friendly .

I have never enjoyed fish and chips as much as I did the meal we had here. The staff were friendly and chatty. Food excellent, reasonably priced and piping hot. Thanks also for telling us about bike night which we enjoyed enormously. Will definitely return when next in the area. Would highly recommend.

My partner and I often go to Weston Super Made for the day and we always eat in The Puffins fish and chip shop. The prices are very reasonable and the food is always 1st class. The shop is always clean and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend The Puffin's.

This cafe sits right next to weston peer and on the beach has a decking area around back sitting on the beach. Also has a side hatch to get your fish and chips so you can get drinks and food and don't have to go inside if you didn't want to. unfortunately I couldn't see if dogs were allowed inside or not but they are allowed on the decking so you can sit out and take in the sea views. Lovely cafe on a fantastic location.

I would say, without a doubt the best burger in weston. 6oz burger was perfect size for me, it was cooked perfectly with a huge choice of sauces and additional items. I had just bacon and cheese, then served in a fresh toasted brioche bun. Chips were amazing as well. Couldn't fault it! Will recommend to everyone I know.

Got back to hotel room opened my fish and poured about a shot glass of oil out of the box. Chips didnt look like proper chip shop chips, nor did they taste like it. Wont be going again

Visited on Wednesday 26 October as we were in the area on holiday. Ordered cheesy chips (very nice!), children's fish and chips in bucket (very tasty and lots of chips!) and two burgers and chips in brioche buns. Girls who served us very friendly and attentive. Cook was cooking our burgers to order (and did spend a considerable length of time making a rose out of a paper napkin - perhaps significant later!) Took our order then drove a mile or so away to eat. It was only when biting into my burger that it was clear that it was undercooked - red in the middle. It was too far to bring it back. I experienced a severe stomach ache for the next 24-48 hours, although I was not physically sick - thankfully. The other burger was cooked better and my husband had no complaints. Interestingly there was an article on the BBC news the following morning stating that more and more takeaways are cooking burgers so that they are still undercooked which is a clear health and safety risk as the burger does not reach a minimum temperature of around 75 degrees. Obviously, we will not be back and thankfully it was me that suffered, rather than one of my children.

Had lunch with the family. We had cod and chips and the children had bucket meals, drinks were included and it was £20 for four of us. The chips were really nice, fresh and made on the premises. The fish was good quality cod and it was also a very decent size. It's quite cramped inside, but don't let that put you off as the food is very good quality and excellent value for money.

We came down to Weston for the day and ate at this restaurant not far from the grand pier. The service was quick and the food hot. The chips were very crispy and hot and the portions are generous. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Choose the puffin as it looks more friendly .Good choice such fantastic welcome couldn't do enough . Waitress was very pleasant . Food came in go time Had the Cod & chips mushy peas bread tea, coffee The fish & chips was very good tea was very good too mushy peas was OK BUT here goes with the improvement your coffee tastes cheap and your bread didn't feel fresh these 2 things knocked your ratings Please don't go for the cheap options hope this improves as I will come again some day

Tried here when we popped into Weston and was so disappointed.Chips cold, and as if all the dregs left over. Fish was very greasy and tasteless.How hard is it to cook fresh fish and chips if your on the coastIt was very busy and was at lunchtime so no excuse!

We came on a coach trip from Worcestershire....Wonderful staff excellent tasty food.The staff went above and beyond to accommodate all 170 of us. They were friendly and helpful,swapping orders about and the meals that we had were absolutely delicious,and very much appreciated by all our hungry lot. Lovely touch of mini fish and chips served in a bucket with a spade for our children at an amazing price. Really added a lovely touch to our day trip. Thank you guys we will be back!

Went for something to eat while in western supa mare, my father in law always raves about this place so I tried it.Wife had fish and chips, I had cheese burger and chips.Fish was cooked to order very fresh, served hot and the battery very crispy, best chips I had ever tasted, my cheese burger cooked to order, served hot and when I bit into it, so moist and juicey and it tasted awesome.The staff where very helpfully and where will to answer any questions about the food.The shop is quite small but is always busy but as everything is cooked to order there is always a wait for the food, but it is worth the wait.

Waited at the takeaway section and watched 5 people who ordered after us walk out with their food before us. Shocking service.

We sat inside to eat, and there aren't that many tables so with all the business they get they should definitely think about expanding the space to accommodate more customers. Both me and my boyfriend ordered the cod, chips and a drink meal deal which cost around £5.50 so fairly decent price. Not long after we had sat down and ordered, our food was bought to us and looked delicious. Considering how busy they were, we didn't expect such a quick service and delivery. The cod was cooked to perfection and the chips were lovely and crisp, it was a perfect fish and chips! Worth every penny and definitely very filling, their dinner for £5.50 is fairly cheap when compared to other places near by and is so worth it! Anyone travelling to Weston for a short break, I would definitely recommend stopping at Puffins for dinner if you want to taste proper fish and chips by the seaside :)
