Proove Pizza OSQ Pizzeria and Bar in Sheffield

I visited Proove over the May bank holiday weekend. Will recommend the pesto pizza over the appetisers we ordered. All great though. Just the pizza would be my first pick. Hadn't tried the Thistly cider anywhere else so that was refreshing. :) The service staff were lovely and accommodating. 🙌🏻

Food was delicious, best pizza in Sheffield but the service was slow and lacking, especially considering it wasn't overly busy.

We ordered one GF pizza and one standard pizza during our visit. Despite the restaurant being barely 1/3 full we waited 30-40mins for 2 pizzas and 1 salad. Overall the GF pizza was incredibly disappointing, the dough was undercooked and the toppings were only on one half of the pizza. The standard pizza was just about "acceptable" but not great considering the price point and given our expectations were quite high. Ingredients were quality but everything thereafter was a bit shambolic. Our waitress was lovely but the rest of our interactions with the staff left much to be desired as they seemed completely apathetic and generally gave poor service from start to finish. Overall we were left disappointed and would not be returning and activitivly reccomending to avoid On the plus side the Proove pale ale was great, shame we won't be having it again. **EDIT** We have completely changed our minds and our new review scores to reflect this. After a return visit, our initial visit has been written off as purely a one-off. The gluten-free pizza especially going from one of the poorest we've had to one of the best we've had, the GF dough was very impressive indeed. Credit to the team as this was a completely different experience in the best way possible! Looking forward to a return visit!

Focus on Deliveroo drivers over restaurant customers. Went in at 6pm Saturday , booked 4 weeks before instructed to be off by 7.30. Waited for mains to arrive, told staff we had to be away for 7.45 theatre, reminded at 7.15, having waited from before 7. Promised 7.27 “we are next” - ridiculous, then told effectively our fault for having starters. Real shame as the food is nice, but Deliveroo drivers arriving and get priority - not great. Left hungry, was offered to take them in a box…… to the Lyceum, so safe to say didn’t eat main courses!!!! Won’t return in a hurry.

Birthday meal - We booked Proove pizza for our daughter’s 9th birthday. We dropped balloons and a cake off to the restaurant beforehand and when we arrived we had a lovely table at the back of the restaurant with our balloons on show, it was impressive and we were really pleased. Although the service was a little slow to begin with, I do think this was to give us chance to take photos and let us have some privacy so we didn’t mind and the great service which followed made up for it! The waitresses were attentive and nothing was too much, including dietary requirements which they were very careful about. Our daughter had the best birthday meal and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time at Proove, plus the food is lovely. I would definitely recommend. Thank you to all the staff!

Be aware that this place does the very basic (neapolitan) pizzas. No cheese topping unless it's a tiny bit of Mozzarella or parmigiano. Your topping will be tomato sauce and, e.g, a few bits of mushroom and some herbs. This caught a few of my colleagues out. I'd already seen the pizzas, so I got arancini, but that arrived as one large ball rather than several smaller ones, so I didn't like it. It tasted like a findus crispy pancake! And looked like a pokemon. The fries were nice. Very limited selection on soft drinks. The cola was strangely tasteless. Not a successful visit.

Excellent properly cooked pizza. Not overly 'full', no showing off with too many cheap ingedients flooding the poor base, just right. Pizza dough was spot on, before eating a pizza, lift it, if it's black with burnt flour, you decide if you want to eat it, Proove bottoms showed no evidence of flour over use. Draught Peroni available, always a boon. Friendly helpful staff. Pity I don't live in Sheffield although as a Lancastrian, perhaps not.

Ok hear me out. I came here for days in a row. As an Italian, I always get a bit teary when I finally find proper Italian delicious pizza. You want a good Italian Pizza, go Proove.

Absolutely rude staff. Arriving at the restaurant 50 minutes before closing and with a table reservation, we found the restaurant with some of the lights off and the staff cleaning up. We were the only customers and said we had a reservation upon arrival. The staff simply continued to clean the restaurant. Given the staff's lack of interest and taking into account that we only had half an hour left and part of that time would be food preparation, we gave up and left. Not the first time that the service has not been the best, but this episode was particularly absurd. Will not be returning nor recommend it to anyone.

Missing attention to detail and any wow factor. Poor flavourless and tiny side sauce that seemed like plain passata with no seasoning- plain lazy. Wilting side garnish that looked like it had given up on life a long time ago. Calzoni Pizza was decent but would have liked a sprinkle of parmesan or ideally a topping of bolognaise sauce.

You say the starter comes with the pizzas, this shouldn't happen. Even though it wasn't crowded, the pizza wasn't at the temperature I wanted, we were sitting too close to the oven. 😅 But Tiramisu is successful, I recommend it👌🏻

Went with two of my friends last night. We all felt sick when we’d finished eating but assumed we’d over indulged. When we all got home, my friends spent last night and the day so far feeling extremely sick and experiencing stomach pain, and I’ve spent the whole night and most of this morning actually throwing up. Highly disappointed because the first time I went, I really enjoyed the food and wanted to show my friends this incredible pizza spot. I’ve tried phoning up this morning to no avail. It’s a shame because the staff are really sweet, it’s great value for money, and the decor is lovely. Won’t be eating here again. EDIT: I have been in contact with the manager of Proove. I did in fact call them earlier and do have proof of that. They have apologised and it will be passed on. As I’ve said, service is great I just think this is a mix up. I still won’t be returning but I think this may just be a one off.

Great atmosphere and good food.

Can’t fault this place. We visited on a quiet Monday night with our two daughters and had a really good meal. The service was friendly and all of the food was delicious.

This small chain seems to garner a lot of good press, but for us it was merely OK - nothing special. Service is friendly (though when we went it was rather slow which, to their credit, they acknowledged). Starters were a bit mixed, with a good arancino whilst the tomato topped bruschetta a bit of a disappointment. Perhaps I should have known better - it is hard to source a decent fresh tomato in winter, and the ones on this dish were decidedly watery and tasteless. The portion was generous, and I would have preferred fewer, better (more expensive?) on the dish. Pizzas were OK though by no means best in class. Perhaps we chanced on an off night, given the praise elsewhere?

It's ok. Pizza dough is "doughy" and wet. Not crispy at all. Took a while to eat the pizza as heavy on the stomach. Calzone full of onion and not a lot else. £58 for 2 pizzas, 2 glasses of wine & 2 beers. Wouldn't rush back. Better & cheaper options elsewhere.

Very mediocre pizza place. I would recommend either Rudy's pizza 4 minutes away, or Napoli Centro like 15 minute walk Food- nothing impressive although dough is soft and nice Service- very very very slow.. sat there waiting for ages for them to take order and bill. Let me pay so I can go home SERVICE CHARGE- why put service charge when your service is very very mediocre.. and when I asked this to be removed it was very obvious they weren't happy... sorry your service was mediocre, average, and unimpressive 😕

The pizza and service were excellent.

Reasonably priced food, garlic mozzarella bread was lovely. Americana couldve had more cheese but pepperoni was fresh and tastey, marinara base was flavourful too. Atmosphere was great, nice background music and friendly environment. Service was friendly however took awhile to serve starters and main, but a group of 15 was taken into consideration so a long wait was expected. More frequent drink offers would’ve been better.

We went on a Sunday lunch time, the food was delicious and quick and the service was very good. Would recommend

Firstly we were the only people in the restaurant. We were asked if we wanted the vegan menu to which we declined but after I saw my limited (vegetarian) options on the main menu I asked to see the vegan menu. This clearly annoyed the staff as they start muttering amongst themselves. The food itself was just fine. Nothing particularly exciting. It was just okay. It was expensive though and for that reason I doubt I’ll be coming back

Went as a family, as an excuse to get everyone together. Service was brilliant. Food came out pipping hot and fast, with just the right amount of time between starters and mains. Deserts are great if you manage to leave stomach space 😁

We came for a nice Christmas meal after being recommended here. The service was appalling, three staff on but took ages to get their attention- we were really unimpressed

Not bad but not would have liked maybe a little larger portion (I had the melanzane alla parmigiana) and maybe some free pane would be nice. Service was good but thought it was overpriced for what we had. That said the food was good.

First time eating here and a really lovely experience. On a cold and wet night it was lovely and warm. Staff were great (Katy served us) and the pizza was excellent. Great atmosphere, music not too loud and very reasonable prices. Definitely one of the better places in Sheffield centre and not a chain!

Mixed feelings here, and probably more of a 3.5/5 review. The dough base was really good, the tomato sauce was average, but my main gripe is the top of the pizza seemed undercooked, as if the oven was getting enough top down heat. No one wants flaccid pepperoni on their pizza, mine wasn't even remotely crisped.

Had bottomless brunch, food nice-especially the fries! However never seen a smaller prosecco glass that was full to begin with but then topped up half way each time! Had bottomless brunch many times before where they have left the bottle on the table! Further to your response I never said the service was poor, quite the opposite and we did enjoy our lunch, however I stand by the point we felt we were being slightly limited on the prosecco front compared to other venues!

Food nice, we had bottomless brunch, pizza was lovely as was the fries! Service was good, however prosecco glasses were very small and topped up half way each time! Just about broke even money wise but there are much better value for money bottomless brunch around

We ate here last weekend and have to say the pizza was delicious, the fries were fab too and seasoned really well. The dessert pizza with nutella was a real treat too! We will definitely return when in the city centre.

We haven’t stopped talking about it. Best pizza I’ve ever had, in addition to all the other good stuff we ate there. The pudding was amazing too. Very filling and great value. The service was exceptional too. Can't fault it and can't wait to eat here again

The food was amazing, as was the atmosphere, and the staff were all super friendly and put effort into making sure our order was perfect. We will definitely be coming back again soon as we were really impressed!

2nd visit to Proove. Both times came away nicely satisfied. The food is great, authentic Napoli pizza. The staff are brilliant, just the right amount of attention without being intrusive but always on hand if you need them.

I visited the restaurant with friends for the first time. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with great service. The waitress was very polite and attentive. We all enjoyed our food. I had the best calzone ever. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely visit again soon.

I don't have a bad word to say about our recent visit to PROOVE! I have been dreaming about my Pesto Royale ever since. Our server was super helpful and friendly, we will definitely be back!! Keep an eye out for the perfect Instagram wall by the toilets! A fabulous addition to the area.

I can't stop thinking about the ragu arancini. They're the best arancini to ever exist on the planet no words can describe it. Service here is amazing everyone is super friendly and can't do enough to make the evening perfect. The pizza is gorgeous always go for a classic margherita and it never ever disappoints here. The bombolone dessert is deffo one to try absolutely delicious. Recommend to everyone

Very good pizzas, base is fresh and authentic! The arrabbiata base is amazing, definitely think of switching it out. All the staff are really friendly and inviting too

Proove, during my visit on a Saturday lunchtime, left me with mixed impressions. The restaurant was only at quarter capacity, which meant a relaxed atmosphere, but it also raises questions about its popularity. The menu had a decent selection of options for both regular and vegetarian diners, which is a plus. The restaurant's open and simplistic design was pleasant, and the friendly waitress added to the overall positive experience. However, the ambiance music was a letdown as it came across as too bassy for background music, making it a bit distracting. On the beverage front, it was nice to see Coca Cola served in glass bottles, and the fast drink service with ice and a lemon slice was a nice touch. Now, onto the food. The tomato sauce on the pizza was disappointingly bland and could use more seasoning. Additionally, the garlic on the marinara pizza was clumped together and not evenly spread out, which affected the overall taste. On a positive note, the pepperoni on the Americana pizza was fresh and had a good flavor. The Italian fries were enjoyable, but they were slightly over salted. The addition of oregano did add a pleasant flavor to them. In summary, Proove had some positives, such as its ambiance and friendly service, but there were also noticeable issues with the food, particularly the bland tomato sauce and unevenly distributed garlic on the pizza. They should work on improving the seasoning and consistency of their dishes to elevate the dining experience.

BE CAREFUL IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. Went out with friends last night and we really did have a lovely time. Drinks were great, food was great, waiters were very lovely. However our evening when was cut short when our friend who has a nut allergy was given a cheesecake they didn’t order that was smothered in Nutella. Our friend had made staff aware of their allergy when we sat down. Thankfully my friends allergy isn’t life threatening it just makes them really really sick so they just wanted to leave asap. I honestly don’t blame the staff as they were mortified once they realised what happened and they tried to help as best they could but the damage had been done. One girl even ran out to buy antihistamines with what I can only assume was her own money. They gave us the drinks and meal free once we left. I don’t want them to get reprimanded after this review because they really did try their best to look after us. Whoever manages this restaurant clearly haven’t trained staff enough to be vigilant when it comes to allergens or there’s a lack of a system to keep track of which table has the allergy. I would go back but if your affected by allergies maybe wait until the place has had time to find its feet a little.

So lovely to visit the new Proove in Orchard Square. We have been to their other restaurant so we knew the pizzas were excellent quality. The pizzas were delicious - they made a slight error and forgot to put something on my pizza but were very quick to rectify the mistake and were very apologetic. Service was fast and the staff were really friendly. I'm gluten-free and they do gluten-free bases and other GF options which is fantastic. Nice atmosphere on a Friday night. Will be visiting again soon!

I’ve eaten at the Broomhill restaurant many times and it’s great. I went for a drink with my partner in the new place in town (no food this time). I was charged £20 for 2 beers; I questioned the price as it’s more than I’d pay in London and the bar staff sneered at us as if we were tight. I work as a surgeon and so we are fortunate enough to have a good income; I’m not sure who the target audience are for drinks here. We are not struggling people and always tip but it seemed excessive. We just asked about the price for two drinks (thinking it was an error) as it’s more than expected. We don’t earn enough to drink here and so won’t be back however wish the restaurant the best. PS: The 5* ratings are because the reviewers were given 50% off.

We were going to a different pizza place but was fully booked that night. The front door recommended Proove. And I can recommend them by 100%. The pizza was omg so delicious 🤤🤤

Enjoyed the 50% off opening offer at lunchtime today. Great that Orchard Square is developing and we have a new independent restaurant in the city centre. Pizza was yum, service was good, didn't quite get the 5⭐️ for me but I'm sure I'll be back at some point 😊
