Fantastic little restaurant. All the food was really tasty and filling and the service was fast. Cant wait to go back.

We had dinner at this restaurant midweek in February and it was very quiet. The food is competently cooked and it is typical of Italian restaurants in Sheffield. Helpful prompt service.

Came here with some friends for food and drinks. The food was tasty. We had some starts mains and desserts between us all. The food was all a good portion apart from the ravioli, there was only about 5 big pieces with filling and I just feel like there could've been more. The service was on the slow side but it was a Saturday night. Our table was booked for 7:30 and we didn't leave until gone 10pm. I would come back for some more food

Proper old school Italian, with possibly the best steak in Sheffield. If you're after trendy decor and showy dishes this is not the place for you. If however you judge a place purely on how damn good the food tastes then once you've been you'll just keep going back.

Nice relaxed atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was top draw and presented nicely. Great value for money and I will be returning soon.

The house rose was appalling had to have lemonade put in as so bad. I had calzone that was so bland inside, large pieces of pepper, mushroom and onion. Little diced pieces of cold cheese on top, the bolognaise was dried up and the pizza dough was burnt black on the base. Absolutely tasteless apart from the burnt taste. Not a great experience. I should have complained but was embarrassed to as my partner's food was ok.

The proprietor should be congratulated on the high quality of his meat in particular, as well as the other ingredients used ! His portions were appropriate to the fair prices charged. The food was full of flavour. Top marks all round from me (Mr.Meanie). I don't normally do feedback, but this place deserved it. I've been charged a lot more elsewhere for an awful lot less. Well done.

Gear restaurant and the service, nice steak, lazania and those salad dishes , come with the house wine, the combination is totally Italian style. Its fine to park car along the street or parking in shopping plaza corss the street

My daughter recommended Maranello's so we thought we'd give it a try. The atmosphere, service, and esp. the food were all first class, totally faultless. We eat out quite a lot and I can honestly say this was the best meal we have had in a long time. Oh, and the portions are generous! Highly recommended!

A very pleasant but average Italian restaurant. Nothing to complain about, just not worth 5 stars

Salmon was terrible with bacon on it. Also the vegetables were a disaster.They are not toast potatoes. The deserts terrible the ice cream tasted like a cheap supermarket ice cream. Drink options hopeless.

Food is delicious, and seems a bit more traditional. Portions are big, and that’s a plus for us. Highly recommended!

Excellent Italian restaurant over two floors, both rooms quite small. Very good service and delicious food; between us we tried several seafood pasta dishes, and a Caprese starter (which oddly had rocket instead of Basil, but was still very tasty). Good value wines and friendly and relaxed service.

Absolutely phenomenal! I'm admittedly not Italian but my fiancée's seafood linguine was chock full of prawns and mussels and my lasagne was such a delicious cheesy monster I barely had room for pudding (Tartufo!)- Maranello's is a real gem, and great value too actually (£68.00 for 2 mains, 5 drinks, 1 salad, bread to share and 1 pudding): if you're reading this you can stop browsing Sheffield restaurants and just book a table here!

A lovely traditional Italian restaurant. Service was really good and atmosphere (Saturday evening) was great as all the tables both upstairs and down were occupied. Food was delicious. I had a Pizza Carne which really was superb. We booked last minute and they were only just able to accomodate us but so glad they did.

Food ok - tortellini with Parma ham what you would expect-, and ravioli with ricotta was nice. The only thing that really let this down was the lack of attention once the mains had arrived. The restaurant wasn’t really busy but staff didn’t have time to clear plates, ask about desserts or anything else. Wouldn’t go back in a rush simply because there are other similar restaurants nearby to try.

This is our third visit since Christmas. The food is outstanding. Freshly prepared , delicious ,tasty and big portions. We all had separate dishes the bolognese was full of meat I couldn’t finish it. The lasagnes was to die for. The chicken in Gorgonzola was so nice with fresh vegetables. My daughter said the risotti was the best she had ever had. Service was good. Prices very reasonable. We eat out a lot this is our favourite place.

Excellent, what can I say ,. Good menu good service, very tasty Italian food. The owner / host was very helpful and nothing was to much to ask for, small portions available for 90 yr old mum .The decor is typically Italian and the place is spotlessly clean. Highly recommended

Went for dinner last night to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We haven’t been for ages, but we were delighted to find it’s still the best Italian restaurant in Sheffield. The steak was fantastic, making it the best steak restaurant in Sheffield too IMO. Fabulous food and service - we will be back soon.

I have booked the restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday surprise party. And everything was just great! Very welcoming and helpful staff, great food, lovely atmosphere. Owner has even allowed me to have a life singer during the dinner. It was great, thank you very very much once again!

Table of 5 people in total. Frozen soggy calamari to start, prawns were ok. Calzone for main which was bathed in a pool of water it seemed. Very soggy and no crust to the pizza at all. Beers only by the bottle and for £3.80 each royally not worth it. Poor food altogether will not be trying that again as the prices are quite high given it’s location. None of my party enjoyed their food enough to warrant the price, seems as though they can’t do the basics right in this place at the moment. My calzone was tasteless and just jam packed with vegetables which I imagine was the reason it was so moist, it was bland. Small steak portions. Pizza my partner had looked like a frozen pizza, nothing fresh or independent about this place. Service & atmosphere good.

My meal was nice the wife's lasagne was burnt that the cheese was black and to add insult they put extra sauce as to cover it up ,after removing the charcoal layer of cheese the underneath was tainted and barely edible ,not to give up we ordered tiramisu to try and make a disaster better but they came it just made things worse ,no taste in the sponge no amaretto taste at all and topped off with cocoa instead of chocolate powder total disaster never going back again ,and not even an apology

Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Minor criticism is lack of air upstairs but can't fault it otherwise.

Four of us went for dinner ,two courses each and two bottles of wine .The food and wines were all excellent as was the service and the ambience of the restaurant .Impossible to fault - a lovely dining experience .

Very good service and delicious food

Somehow never noticed this place on ecclesall road. Went with my partner and her family on a Saturday night. All thoroughly enjoyed our food and the free entertainment (drunk people on the table next to us) - staff were lovely and we had a joke at their expense after they left. Calzone was great and the meat ball starter was to die for. Great restaurant!

Went here in a date, the restaurant was quiet and I have no idea why. The food was amazing, especially the dessert we had the tiramisu and the profiteroles which were the best I've ever had! The wine was nice and well priced as well as friendly fast service. Definatly would go again.

Visiting daughter at uni! Walked down Eccleshall Road looking for an Italian! Found this amazing place. Walked in around 7pm on a Fri night and managed to get a table downstairs near the open kitchen! Lovely atmosphere, gorgeous food, great portions and reasonably priced! Food piping hot, we had pizza and pasta dishes, garlic bread to share and a drink each! Bill was less than £70! Boxed up leftovers for our student daughters as portions so big! Will definitely be back!

We wanted to try a different restaurant to the ones we've been to before or have been recommended. I, in passing, mentioned Maranello's, as its been on Ecclesall Road for as long as I've lived in Sheffield and,von the strength of that, booked it. It was a good choice! One of our party is gluten and (stemming from that) onion intolerant. They catered for them without issue. For starters, between us we had meatballs, garlic bread and scallops (not on the same plate). All were delicious. For mains, we had a fishy gluten free pasta dish, a bolognese, a seafood pasta dish and a chicken dish and again all were really really tasty. I think we've found a nice restaurant to return to. And we're picky! Above the standard.

Always loved this restaurant. As you can see my plate was cleared. Thank you the meal was beautiful and the staff excellent as always.

The food (i had the chicken and pancette tagliatelli) was ok and when your menu is a "me too" of practically all italian restaurants in sheffield you need to put some effort and investment in your wine list. I had the gavi di gavi at £26 and it was poor. I've had dozens of gavi and gavi di gavi wines and this is the worst I've had.

We had prawns & avocado and asparagus with Parma ham for starters, lamb and chicken for main, profiteroles and tiramsu for desert, washed down with a bottle of pinot and a couple of amaretto. £90, plus tip. Well worth the money

Went in on a whim at teatime. Lovely atmosphere. Compact menu (a good sign). Absolutely excellent, freshly cooked food served piping hot by friendly staff who don't rush customers. Definitely one to go back to. Good value too.

My first time at this restaurant: Ordered the pollo gorgonzola - rereading the description this should have been oven baked (which it wasn't) and I had a night of terrible stomach cramps followed by serious diarrhoea for which I had paid £125 (plus £10 tip)...

Not impressed a great deal to be honest, nice enough piece of steak just drowned in sauce, and a few soggy vegetables and potatoes on the side, just really not worth the £23, put it this way will not be going back.

Me and my boyfriend visited the restaurant for a romantic dinner on a Saturday night . To our shocking realisation , nothing was homemade, felt like we were eating cheap frozen Tesco pizza , Barilla ready - to - eat pesto sauce and the meat in our pasta was very bad quality too. We strongly disapprove the place and we feel like we spend way too much for very poor quality food

We went for our christmas party , 25 of us we had to pre order and pay a dopposit witch is understandable for that amount of people. very cozy place , very homley and food was amazing, we all agreed on that even the few of us witch have never been before. The service very professional and jolley . This place has been here for a number of years and it seems to get better. They also cater for for people with special diet requests, as twoo of our colleagues are GLUTEN FREE, they where very happy with the help and options offerd. 100% recommended.

Tbh it's ok, food was across our table good but that's all and the children's food was just ok. One of my son's had pizza and pretty sure wasn't a hand pinned base. Drinks wise in my opinion was a bit pricey and just ok. It was really busy but maybe that's because of location more than quality.

I am reviewing today firstly to advice fellow individuals who have dietary requirements, but secondly in response to a very unpleasant and unprofessional response you have given to my partner when he brought this issue to light. The restaurant does NOT have a gluten free menu, i was advised I could have anything on the menu bar pizza. For start I ordered a stuffed pepper with rice spinach Parmesan and mozzarella, this was served in tomato sauce. I then ordered a lasagna (after being told I could have anything) to them be approached by a gentleman holding a menu saying no you can’t have that (maybe a gluten menu would be a good idea to clear this confusion up for staff and customers) I changed my order to a bowl of pasta with chicken and bacon. The problem started after I had eaten the starter, I started with pains in my stomach and knew instantly something wasn’t right. Not wanting to ruin the evening for other family members I made no fuss. By the time my main came I felt really quite uncomfortable and ill. This meant I hardly touched my main meal (which meant my partner and his dad could finish it off after their small portion hadn’t filled them). I was very happy when home time came. Maybe we experienced an off night as it was very busy and very loud. What I do not appreciate is the response that we have received from the management. At first they were very apologetic and admitted fault completely blaming the error of a waitress. Only to then completely change their tune and say that we are wrong and even suggesting I should go for more tests!!! I find that absolutely disgusting, the amount of time it takes for a diagnosis like coeliac is something that is very hard to cope with (clearly something they are very unaware of) It is also something that is monitored for quite some time after diagnosis, many routine hospital appointments and dietary meetings so each person is well educated on their needs. So after 5 and a half years of learning everything I can about this allergy I am fully aware when something isn’t right with food, for them to them suggest this sort of thing is PURE IGNORANCE to a very real condition. IF YOU HAVE AN DIETARY REQUIREMENT PLEASE AVOID.

Visited this restaurant last night and it was great. Lovely to find a genuinely high quality independent italian restaurant in Sheffield. So much better than all the fancy chains. The owner looked after us wonderfully. Cosy intimate and great food !

Visited this restaurant after looking at the really good reviews. Recommend as knowledgeable about allergies and being able to adapt food to suit. This was however not the case. My girlfriend ordered a starter of stuffed pepper and was assured it was gluten free. Yet after finishing the dish and waiting for her main could tell the dish had contained gluten as she began to feel unwell. Spoiled the night really and she was unable to eat hardly anything of her main course. Shame as the restaurant seemed to say all the right things and had a sign statement about allergies. We didn’t complain at the time as was out for my mums birthday and didn’t want to spoil it. Hope this place improves in the future and no one else suffers like this.

I love family run Italian restaurants and this is a really good one. Welcoming, friendly, buzzing with chat and good humour, and of course delicious food. All the ckasics from brushetta to great pasta, lovely chicken, decent Italian wines and friendly service. All at a sensible price.
