After getting off the train for a day Christmas shopping in Newport, the first priority was coffee. I always head to one of the arcades to find an independent coffee shop. The Plan is a cosy place with a good range of vegan dishes and cakes. We managed to get a window seat so had a lovely view down the shoping centre. with all the pretty lights. My sister and I both ordered pancake with banana, Ice cream and toffee sauce. It was a very generous helping and absolutely delicious, reasonably priced too. The coffee was excellent. The facilities are very clean too. A great place to visit , very relaxing and the staff all very friendly

Caerleon CommonI really enjoy getting baguettes and brownies from fresh start after I do the school run. Everything is freshly made , they fill the baguettes right up. I do find it’s a little expensive but that doesn’t stop me from returning. The girls are nice and friendly , there’s quick and efficient service and a lovely show of brownies, cookies and other cakes also

Mercure Newport Hotel, Chartist Tower Upper Dock StreetWas very impressed when we walked in, nicely laid out, sat in booth area. Both of us decided on fish and chips Friday offer, we were given a mug of tea each, we were not offered a drinks menu we had to ask for that. Fish & chips arrived fairly quickly, very disappointed reminded me of the home brand frozen battered fish, tasteless and batter soft, chips were no better. We were looking forward to this, overall not impressed. We might come back and try again in future.

Feedback would be slightly bigger portion size for the tots and maybe toast the burger bun slightly as the sauce made the burger bun a little hard to pick up ! Other than that top tasting food very decent burger and tots were very good 👍
