Cute pub with a good selection of beers and wine. Live music was a nice bonus.

What a banger of a Pub. Proper love and energy in the food from Chef Joe. Everything we had was beautifully balanced and break your face good. Best pub for food in East London right now. The food tastes as good as it looks.

Tasty Sunday lunch in a classic Hackney boozer with great ales on tap - took ages for the food to come even at 4pm, but it worth it

It's a lovely pub with good lager, a decent crisp selection (scampi fries are a pub favourite for me) and importantly funny, friendly staff. I only give no stars for food because I didn't eat anything. The couple next to us had some small plates of chips etc and spoke highly of it though.

Great service by very friendly barstaff, really nice cocktails (get there for happy hour!), good selection beers, food was tasty and quick if a little on the small size portion wise, all wrapped up in a cool trad dim pub decor!

One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had in London. Simple, delicious and fresh homemade tasting, great gravey, the potatoes where wonderfully crisp (which isn’t always the case with pub roasts!). The pudding was epic, fresh baked madeleines with lemon curd! Staff where friendly, the place is unpretentious & cosy. Book ahead because it’s popular.

Love coming to this pub, it's our local, even tho often they've run out of a couple of taps, the beer is always good, the staff are so friendly, Stuart is always so smiley and attentive, makes us feel welcome and always gives above and beyond service. Food is delicious, but would appreciate an obvious vegan snacky opition as the other half is one. (Would say food is a bit on the pricey side, so now only really eat on more special occasions)

Just rediscovering our old local area now with a 6 year old. We went here on a Saturday afternoon in December knowing it would be lively and we weren’t disappointed. Obviously a bit ambitious bringing our daughter but she loved it too and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. It was rammed, loud and Christmassy - so everything you would expect and it was great. Food amazing and shoutout to Stuart who made our daughter a “Stuartini” after our meal. Will definitely be back.

The best roast in London! We had such a special meal here, delicious wine, a lovely quite unique starter and a fantastic roast beef and pork! The meat was amazing, and served with excellent veg and crispy roast potatoes. Gorgeous wine and cocktail selection, with really fantastic service - a big shout out to Stewie for going above and beyond to really make it a special occasion for us, thank you. We will definitely be back!

The pub is beautiful on the outside and in. Lovely atmosphere and great beers on tap. Everything set up for a perfect Sunday roast. Unfortunately the roast itself was a big let down. The meat was nice, and the roast potatoes were crispy, but that's where it ends. You pay £24 for a roast, and it came on what can only be described as a side plate (have seen other reviews say the same). We had finished it in 5 mins. The gravy was so watery and had 0 flavour, and you had to pay £1.50 for extra gravy water. The cauliflower cheese didn't have any cheese. I had to make dinner as soon as I got home as we were still so hungry. I get the impression the chef is very very capable and the menu not on a Sunday looked delicious and I can imagine tastes great, but I really wouldn't recommend the roast for that price. If you make the portions bigger and make some thick rich gravy, you'll be on to a winner.

Great food and really warm and kind service!

Early meal before a local gig. Small unassuming pub, but some crazy capable chef out back. Fell in the door at 6pm. Real sense of community, and friendly staff. Nowhere near where I live, but if there is another gig nearby ... reasonably pricy food, but it was top end ...

Our favourite local !! Stuie, Anna and Eloise made our night, even sang happy birthday specially and of course the food is incredible - on par with any easy London restau - so good ❤️‍🔥thanks guys

Great traditional East End -end of terrace corner pub. Ample room inside serving decent pints and range of food. Has both inside and outdoors seating areas.

Super lovely local pub with wonderful bar staff. Feels a bit like a home from home. Stewart was super welcoming and amazing with our little one. Lovely new menu and can’t wait to go back soon x

Booked an outside table for 5 on Friday evening to try out the new chef (Joe's) new menu. Even though the pub was extremely busy both inside and out the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout, regularly checking back, offering more drinks etc. Good range of beer on tap, strong wine menu and great service from the staff. We ordered the whole menu between us, every dish arrived promptly, was well presented and clearly contained top quality ingredients. The highlights on the menu for me were the crab topped hash browns (which we ordered again), charred peaches with blue cheese, croquettes, raviolo and the ribeye. All of which were absolutely delicious and showed the skills of the chef. Can't wait to return and have it all over again.

Had a meal & some drinks here last Friday. Superb little old school pub. Bright & friendly staff. Decent Guinness. But the real magic lies in the food. Was in a group so we decided to try the lot, even the vegan dish. The small plates are spectacular, croquets, devilled eggs, cornbread & hash-browns were all incredible & fairly priced. Incredibly moreish. But finished off with the fish, vegan dish & a Ribeye shared with friends. Top notch grub, compliments to the chef & team for what was a lovely lovely evening. Was told there’s a new chef running the kitchen who has revamped the menu and will be updating with the seasons so will definitely be back!

Went down to the soft launch of the new menu under chef Joe and his team. The food was sensational, executed perfectly and great value. Those sobrasada croquettes might be the best I've had in London and the whole John Dory swimming in samphire and butter has been in my dreams all week (no picture of that as we scoffed the whole thing immediately). The staff are so warm and helpful, proper old school hospitality that's all too rare these days. The whole vibe is great so will be my regular go to - so glad to have a local independent pub that does it all. Popped by on Sunday and saw a lobster roast that looked out of this world too. Sadly missed out as the kitchen had closed! Booked for next weekend already. Well done team 🙌

Came across this place by chance and I am so glad we did! The food was excellent (apparently they have a new Head Chef) which was a pleasant surprise considering its pub setting. The menu is well thought out and of extremely high quality (especially the steak and chips!) Coinciding with warm, friendly and knowledgable service - the Prince Arthur is now my go-to for a first rate meal out (the crab hash browns alone are worth the trip!).

New Head Chef Joe Couldridge certainly knows his food! We were a large party and ordered just about every dish as sharing plates from this exciting new menu. Stand out for me was the crab hash-browns, croquettes, soft egg ravioli, tbh I may as well recite the whole menu here, it was all outstanding! Reasonably priced, excellent service - a great new addition to the area. Congratulations to Joe and co for a fantastic start in this great venue.

Probably the best roast I’ve ever had! Roast pork was incredible, beautiful tarragon sauce! Staff are also amazing!

While I've only been here once, this might be my favorite pub in London, mainly because of its location in the middle of the residential area and the atmosphere outside. Service is great, food looks very delicious - however couldn't try it because it was quite busy and only made for the desks with reservations. Beer were great and they even had hacker pschorr (beer from Munich) :D

Original review: Hi, I don't usually leave reviews *but* I wanted to share my recent experience and provide some feedback about the pricing and portioning of menu items following my visit earlier today. Firstly, I want to say that the roast beef was absolutely delicious, and staff provided excellent service. However, there was one thing that bothered me, and I believe it's worth bringing up in this review. I was quite surprised to see that after ordering what believed was a sharing plate of carrots to accompany our roast, that we were charged £12 for a single carrot. I understand the importance of using high-quality ingredients, but I felt that this price was excessive for just one vegetable. We were later told that it was due to low stock of carrots - but I think this should have been communicated before ordering. Moreover, I'd like to discuss the recent change to a small plate system instead of the traditional Sunday roast format. I have to be honest; I wasn't thrilled with it. Part of the appeal of a Sunday roast is the hearty, generous portions that leave you feeling satisfied. The smaller plates didn't quite capture that essence for me. I believe going back to serving full plates would greatly enhance the dining experience and provide better value for customers. I'd really like to thank the staff member who listened to our concerns and took the carrots off the bill, but a bit disappointed that we experienced that after looking forward to it for so long.

We were aware that their roasts menu had changed to a 'small plates' system for the summer, which we weren't too happy about, but we were intrigued to see how this could possibly work. When we arrived we ordered and were told that the carrots (priced at £12) were a sharing portion, so we ordered 1x plate of carrots as well as 2x plates of potatoes and 1x plate of broccoli between four people, and our own meats each. However when the plates started to arrive, we received one carrot cut in half... We were then later told that the kitchen was running low on carrots, but we felt that this really should have been communicated to us before ordering. Having said that, the roast beef was really tasty, I would definitely recommend ordering it. The dessert was a peach crumble (£9) which sounded delicious, however I didn't order it as I feared it would be absolutely tiny.. There weren't really very many options on the menu in general, and it just felt like a lot of money, for not very much food. The staff were nice and removed the carrots from the bill, and they had given us some delicious pork crackling while we waited for our food. But considering the potatoes and yorkshire puddings were burnt to a crisp, on top of the carrot disappointment, we all just left feeling really dissatisfied with the visit. The small plates system does not work, and the food was extremely overpriced for what you get. I'm not sure I would consider going back to eat there.

HI, Came in a few nights ago with a few friends and was not only welcomed but also served several rounds of both cocktails and pints by a bartender called Stewart I believe. Have been to the Prince Arthur on many occasions but never seen him before so assume he's new to the bar. He was attentive to our group, provided great knowledge of drinks available and made us all feel comfortable, entertained and already looking forward to our next visit there. Also a shout out to the other staff there who alwaye make our visits there great. If you've not visited The Prince Arthur before - highly recommend. Hope Stewart is a permanent addition to the Prince Arthur team, well done Guys :)

Typisch englischer Pub. Toller Flair und sehr gutes Essen. Zu guten Preisen! Wir würden wieder kommen. Bier ist sehr teuer, aber das ist es leider fast überall hier.

Nice serving staff, decent beer - but food overpriced and not good. No vegetarian option, just leeks or a piece of cauliflower listed as a main - and the twelve quid piece of cauliflower was not "smoked" but burned, and so were the chips. They did explain that their kitchen was understaffed (temporarily?) but not sure that's sufficient excuse.

Fantastic food! Very adventurous menu, but still safe enough for a romantic dinner for two. Phenomenal smoked custard on the crumble.

Good quality pub not a boozer. Suits going with friends, date, introduction. Good burger and chips.

Quiet Xmas day drinks in this rather excellent pub. Friendly professional couple running it. Straight out of a time machine this fine day. Probably dressed for the occasion. Interesting history. Slightly reminiscent of Amsterdam brown bars. Will return.

We went here for a Sunday roast, after got a suggestion from a friend, regarding the smokiness of their meals, and weren’t wrong! Best sunday roast chicken I even had! Also very nice house lagger! Suggestion to stuff: maybe get a bigger plate for roast. It’s very packed on small plates. Also steak knives would be good too. You can’t cut much with the blunt butter knife.

I been tonight there after few months without going and I have to say I used to love the food they had with hot4u but unfortunately they have changed the kitchen provider And the food tonight was 3 out of 10 ( and I think I been generous with that 3). I ordered a tomato salad that was very poor served with a old looking lettuce followed by a triple fried fries that were very soft and full of oil (not crunchy at all). We ordered some roasted beetroot that it was hard and a steak beef that it was cooked in in a low temperature so the beef ended up boiling instead of been sealed and medium rare in the inside. We ordered some oysters and broccoli that we cancelled due to the poor develop skills of the food. Not what I imagine it at all. I have to add that service was very kind, understanding and good with us and applied to us a 25% discount. Hopefully they can improve the kitchen situation and bring back the quality that they used to have.

This is a pub where young people run the show and try things. I love how they run it. The food is ace, experimental and delicious. We most of the time just drink, but that's easy given the nice beer selection.

the food is alright, portions are way to small and the service is not to write home about. spending 18£ on a 4 bite dish and then have the staff serving say: i dont even know what this is not what i hoped. its a nice pub but im very dissapointed

Great local with a super interesting menu thats not “typical pub” food. Highly recommend the KFC bites and the BQQ broccoli. Staff is super friendly and it has this beautiful local / chill vibe that’s perfect for a nice lunch out with friends.

Lovely neighbourhood pub on a nice quite residential road. Later in the day the sun hits the front on the pub and people sit about the pavement enjoying their drinks.

Lovely pub, friendly staff but the food is overpriced and the portions tiny. £15 for a few pumpkin agnolottis - sort of raviolis - is indeed difficult to digest. After diner we went home to cook a meal. Good for a drink but stay away from the food.

Delicious taste, wonderful atmosphère

Came here with a few friends the other day and we basically ended up ordering the entire menu. Probably the most fun I’ve had in a restaurant for ages - everything was crazy from top to bottom but some of the superstars were the smoked carrots with grilled cream and the skrei cod. Got to chat to some of the chefs as well who were really cool sound guys and all the waiters and bartenders were really friendly too. Start with a round of the hot sauce oysters - you literally can’t go wrong.

Nice pub but rather disappointed by the food. My husband has been following the Hot 4 U chef story through covid and has been dying to come here. We came for Sunday roast and ordered the mussels in XO sauce to start. I personally wasn’t a fan of the sauce (didn’t really taste like XO sauce) but the real issues was the mussels themselves as they were stuck to the shells and near impossible to eat. Not sure what was going on as have never seen mussels do that before. For mains my husband ordered the beef topside and I ordered the pancetta. The beef was good however the pork was incredibly salty, almost inedible (although my hubby still managed to polish most of mine off!) Sides considered of roast potatoes (lovely and crispy), mixed greens, carrots and celeriac purée plus gravy and a Yorkie. Very underwhelmed but hey maybe we caught them on an off day

Always loved this pub but the staff at the moment make it 5 stars. Bowled in last night and knocked my wine over and they were total relaxed babetowns. Best atmosphere and food is excellent

We’ve had a lovely experience. The staff has mastered kindness to an extend that we’ve never felt more welcome. Dog-friendly pub where owners don’t mind their pets roaming among the guests. And guests love the pets as well. Love, ze Germans.

Very nice back street pub, friendly staff, always been good, been coming here on and off for last 30 years under different managements, was a regular when it was Lady Diana when run by Alan and Dora. Would have given 5 stars if music wasn't all hip hop. Would have stayed longer if music was better.

Quiet, could get an outdoor table

Lovely boozer on a quiet street. Very attentive and friendly staff, great range of beers and a fancy food offering. Would make for a great date spot. Not all the tables are covered if it's raining.

Good beers and a nice atmosphere, current food menu is a little bit "fancy Dan", £8 for fried potato and some dip leaves a fishy taste in the mouth. You certainly can't be pigging out on the food when it's £18 for a small pork dish. But for 2021 London Fields dining it ticks a few boxes, can't fault the taste but don't get greedy on those menu prices Arthur!

At nearly 7 quid a pint no thanks im guessing these other reviews are the owners and family and friends Thanks for the speedy response prince arthur, I agree it is a great little pub to have in the area and I've been visiting on and off for almost 30 years so not my 1st time in the pub , appears to have been a mistake in both my comment and your charges I was charged £ 6.60 for a pint of 5 points pale which im sure you'd agree is steep but obviously a mistake was made it happens ,your prices look very average for the area

Lovely Cambodian influenced food here. I had the Khmer BBQ Chicken roast which was delicious and moist.
