Great food and fun atmosphere for our group of 12. Our waitperson Isla did a great job taking care of all of us efficiently. I had the Tomato soup appetizer and shared the Chateau Briand with a friend cooked to perfection. Would recommend when staying In Inverness

Well what can I say we had a reservation for 8pm and were told to wait outside, then we got the worst table crammed into the corner, ordered our food,and cocktails,we also ordered wine and RASPBERRY GIn to go with our meal,well we had finished our meal before they arrived not once did anyone come up and ask if everything was ok,we asked to speak to the manger about my Gin,which I was told it was definitely RASPBERRY, I said it certainly isn’t so she went to check with the bar staff,only to come back with a bottle of gin which was rhubarb & ginger, which I told the manger I was allergic to ginger,and I was getting very anxious as my mouth was starting to tingle,thankfully I had antihistamine with me to take but couldn’t as I asked for a glass of water but it still never arrived, so my friend and I at this point decided to leave and with her help we left and had to go round the corner to buy water so I could take my tablets.what an absolute disgrace…….

We are locals, having eaten here a number of times before. Eating here at the height of the tourist season the affects the experience. The portions were unbelievably small and the food wasnt cooked with as much care as it usually is. My breast of Duck at £27 had two pieces of duck that could fit in one mouthful - certainly smaller than when we have eaten here out of tourist season. Tables are too close - we felt we were having dinner with the couple next to us. On a positive the service was good

American tourists beware…the food is good here but they have the most unprofessional staff we experience throughout our Scotland travels. We had reservations, yet we were seated at one of the worse tables in an empty dining room…the worse table (was right next to the bathroom door) where the next American family was seated. When, we asked to be moved from our awkwardly placed corner table, our waiter James told us it wasn’t possible as the other tables were reserved…when we left 1.5 hrs later, there were still 4-6 tables empty in this particular section of the restaurant. After ordering drinks, we requested water and we were only offered bottle water at a significant charge…ok but the European family seated across from us…were immediately offered tap water…and the other Americans like us were only offered bottled water. It seemed like all of our request were met with No…including to have our salad dressing on the salad side. Throughout our meal, our waiter basically ignored us and our requests…he was way too occupied, fawning over two young girls, who were just having drinks and sides.

Arrived at 11.55 for midday booking. Noticed a note on the door saying to use an alternative door which was locked. Went in to be "barked" at by staff behind the bar that they didn't open for another 4 minutes! Explained our reservation was for midday. Asked to wait outside. Got to our table and asked about the lunch menu. Was told it wasn't available on the weekend despite the website saying otherwise. Agreed to us having this as "it was on the website". I have used Prime a few times over the last couple of months and this wasn't an issue. Also noticed other guests were getting the choice of both! Despite this we had a lovely female server who diffused my annoyance and as usual the food was good. However due to the first impressions and embarrassment as we had built this experience up as good to family who were visiting it will be a long time until I visit again.

A mid-afternoon late lunch. One couple in the bar area and only us in the restaurant. Lovely warm, sunny day but no-one enjoying the seating outside. Should have taken that as a clue! However, the greeting was very pleasant and the server was excellent. The front of house staff deserve 10 out of 10. Prime is no Brewers Fayre, it's a premium chain restaurant and charges as such so it's reasonable to have higher than normal expectations. The oysters were ok, could have done with more ice and the Tabasco bottle should be wiped clean before appearing on the plate. The steak was tender but appeared a little grey rather than chared on the outside. The big disappointment was the Sea Bass. A tiny, single fillet, a few blobs of I think a balsamic reduction, a smear of something orange, a sauce that had split and a pretty mediocre fondant potato. The samphire and tomatoes were good. Everything was served so quickly after ordering that little or nothing can have been prepared or cooked after ordering but waiting to be finished off or reheated. If that's not the case that is how it felt. So full credit to front of house but a disappointing £80+ late lunch.

We did a walk up to the Prime and it was very busy however we only waited about 10mins and they found us a table. It was an awesome experience, food was amazing, waitresses very friendly and accomodating. Well worth a visit when you’re in Inverness.

The atmosphere was great as we sat outside under the heated lamps. It was a great place for people watching while we enjoyed our meal. We got the oysters and I got the Cullen Skink - it was absolutely delicious! For dessert, we tried the sticky toffee pudding and it was exceptional! I highly recommend. The only downside was the service got very slow towards the end. Overall, we had a great experience.

i paid 34 for a serlion steak was absolutely bang average and for the price definitely not worth it won’t be back. my gf had the same steak was not cooked how she asked not great weatherspoons be a better option

Visited here for the first time, I was greeted by Csaba, who promptly seated us, great view from the restaurant even though it wasn't quite a window seat. Given menus and asked if we wanted a drink, Csaba was very knowledgeable about the menu. I had ham hock terrine very tasty but not quite as I expected it nevertheless it was very nice, my friend had mussels. Steak for mains, we were in a steak house after all. Declined on desert, but the thing that was outstanding was the service from Csaba, which was very friendly and caring. I would gladly return and hopefully I'll get served by Csaba again.

Great service and delicious food. My husband and I shared the chateaubriand. Delicious and cooked to perfection! The couples we dined with loved their entrees too. We even ordered dessert which we hadn’t done in the 2 weeks we had been traveling/eating out. It was delicious too!

Actually ate here 2 nights we stayed. Highlights were the buckfast negroni (don't knock it until you try it!) Amd the presentation of the food. Less good was slowness of food service on the Friday night (which they apologised for) but more critically everything tends to be slightly overcooked (scallops, steak, duck)....its not much but it makes a meaningful difference to taste and texture. Worth a go but could be better.

Never ever left a review before but on this occasion just had to leave one , we both had the seafood platter and it was by far the tastiest starter we have ever had , the pate was so flavored and tasty and as for the salmon in beetroot just wow. The chef responsible deserves an immediate pay rise ! The waiting staff are a credit to the restaurant, friendly and chatty .Overall a great experience .

This restaurant has a lot of promise, but ultimately it’s disappointing. The service is great, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The seafood platter looks attractive. However, the smoked salmon is beat red and doesn’t have much taste. The macro taste like it came out of a jar. And the crayfish has no taste at all And the bread was stale. We ordered châteaubriand. It came medium rare just as we ordered. However, it was tough and it didn’t have much taste. We did have a nice bottle of wine however. And we had a side order of cauliflower and we felt it was over spiced curry with curry.

Worst meal ever! I ordered the burger my friend ordered the beef steak. There was nothing Prime about either! The burger was so compressed I could hardly cut it! It also was extremely dry and over seasoned. It was served with good homemade fries and on a nice brioche bun. The beef steak was tough and tasteless. It also was served with fries. Skip this place if you are looking for an edible meal!

We went to the Prime Restaurant on Monday and had an amazingly good time. Ordering a lobster was the best decision, it all tasted perfect and delicious, and our server, Csaba, ensured that we had the best time, couldn’t have had such a great dinner without him. Thank you for the amazing meal and for the great service!

The food were over cooked and over salty. Not a good place to eat. Perhaps they don't care as mainly tourist in the restaurant. Non the less, we should all take pride in what we do. The steak was very chewy and dry, mussel was extremely salty and macaroni cheese was dried. Alas, few bottles of water were needed.

Had dinner tonight at Prime Restaurant in Inverness. The food and service were stellar. We had the trout, it was fantastic, the side dishes were perfectly prepared. We had two young ladies as servers, both were fantastic, attentive and made us feel very welcome. We would like to thank Samira and Ella, both were truly excellent representatives of this fine restaurant.. We are Americans and while I am very aware we have no problem calling out poor service, believe me we are just as diligent in rewarding superior service. These two servers deserve a great revue as does the restaurant for the quality of the food, the cleanliness and attention to detail.. Thank you Andy and Michelle

Mussels are absolutely the best. Trout as well. Came in 3 families with kids and everybody was just amazed with service and food.

I was told this was one of the better restaurants in town. I had the trout and it was fine as a meal. Nothing spectacular but certainly tasty. The wine list is good but only a few are available by glass and, as a solo traveler, I wasn’t going to waste money on a bottle when all I wanted was a glass or two. That seemed odd and was disappointing. I had the cheese board as my after dinner and you get to choose the 3/4/5 cheese that you want from their list. The service was a little slow and the kitchen was a little impatient based on the bell I kept heard being rung. Many places are understaffed and perhaps that was the case here. Overall, it was pretty average.

Full, busy and lively....and that was a Monday evening. Great staff, lots of atmosphere. Menu is seafood and steak. I had a venison shank but it was just too big...ridiculous really. Between us we had mussels and oysters which were excellent. It's definitely not cheap, food alone over £50 per head. Worth a visit.

I quite enjoyed our visit to prime, despite being slightly forgotten about on the outside tables. Cullen Skink and Ham Hock starters were sublime, the Trout excellent, it was just a shame the steak was a bad cut, nothing the team could have done about it and really apologised taking it off the bill. As a highly rated steak house we were expecting perfection but we were a bit disappointed. It wasn't bad but we were expecting a bit more perhaps. It was a busy night and service was quite slow, we had to ask a waiter to place our order and had to wait for our drinks to arrive. Conseguimos un filete cada uno que estaba delicioso, sin embargo, las gambas que venían con el surf n turf eran insípidas y podrían haber estado congeladas. Los lados eran geniales, pero la salsa de whisky podría haber sido más fuerte. La decoración / entorno interior tampoco coincidía necesariamente con el precio de 90, es decir, sin entrantes ni postres y ¡solo una bebida cada uno!

Lugar encantador para almorzar con vistas al río hacia el castillo. La comida era excelente y el servicio excelente. Jamie nos sirvió, que fue muy amable y servicial. Fue genial ver que se estaba llevando a cabo una limpieza adicional y que se seguía el distanciamiento social. Definitivamente volveremos a visitar si estamos en la zona.

Comida deliciosa perfectamente preparada, la comida es increíble y el personal es una ventaja para este restaurante, el servicio es excelente. Tuvimos suerte de poder visitar dos veces durante nuestra estadía de cuatro días y no pudimos reservar una tercera.

Wallop - Ten out of Ten the food was amazing we both had ribeye steaks, they were cooked to perfection and the desert was spot on too. Friendly helpful staff. Clean plates all round 🍽️ highly recommend

We found this spot on a very rainy evening after traveling quite a bit all day and looking forward to a really great dinner. Prime fit the bill. Quite a funky spot with lively vibe, I think every table was booked. Wine, dinner (2 290g sirloins), dessert and coffee ran about $128. Service was excellent too.

Ok for reference this is the 4th time my partner & I have been to prime. The other 3 visits were fantastic. We booked well in advance & a few weeks later they called & let us know it’d be a set menu, then emailed it over.We were disappointed with the set menu. Prime proudly advertises itself as a steak restaurant, no steak on the menu. We made our choices & really in hindsight we should have just canceled. Drinks - The wine was nice, a large glass for £10. The two mocktails were ok, very sweet. Starter - I had seafood chowder. I couldn’t finish more than a quarter of it as it was very very salty, the seafood was very sad looking, and tasting. The server asked why I hadn’t finished it & I was honest. She just said they’d pass the feedback to the chef. My partner had a pepper soup, fine, a little uninspired. Nice bread though. Mains - My partner had feta parcels that were just literally 200g of feta in filo pastry. Totally unbalanced.I had beef brisket. The beef was really moist & well cooked. But besides a very small amount of mash & some kale, that was it. It was a totally one dimensional meal with no real flavour at all. Disappointing, but not inedible. Photo attached. Desert - (to be fair, at this point we were just keen to leave, so whatever came out we wouldn’t have been that excited) My partner had an apple crumble. All apple mush & no crumble. She ate about half. I had a large heavy sticky pudding with a quail egg sized ice cream scoop. The toffee sauce was great. Christmas crackers - Great quality crackers! TDLR -If there is a set menu on at prime, don’t go. It’ll definitely disappoint you. The total for the meal was £115, definitely a lot more than it should have been given the quality of the meal. (£10 of this was a large glass of wine) (If it’s any normal day, definitely go it’s normally great.)

Visité este restaurante junto al río y, aunque disfrutamos de nuestra noche en general, podría haber algunas mejoras. Llegamos alrededor de 10 a 15 minutos antes y nos pidieron que subiéramos al bar para esperar nuestra mesa, literalmente nos sentamos y pedimos cuando nos dijeron que nuestra mesa estaba lista, así que volvimos a bajar. Nos sentamos al lado de un radiador hirviendo, lo que significaba que estábamos insoportablemente calientes durante la duración de nuestra comida; pedimos que se apagara, pero tardó alrededor de 40 minutos en enfriarse, momento en el que terminamos. Si bien el servicio fue bueno, el amable camarero tenía la costumbre de culpar a todos los demás por los numerosos errores, es decir, la bebida equivocada se entregó a la mesa, la máquina de tarjetas se quedó sin papel y, lo que es peor, un sobrecargo de alrededor de 20 por dos bebidas que no hicimos No pidas. La comida era muy cara por la cantidad (quizás deberíamos haber leído críticas anteriores), así que probablemente no volvería, ya que hay muchos otros restaurantes para elegir.

A nice restaurant with a pleasant ambiance. The staff were attentive and helpful answering any questions.The menu, particularly the starters, offered a really good choice of dishes making it difficult to know what to opt for. The food itself was very nice and could not be faulted. That said my starter (pigs cheek with haggis) came on a plate that had not been heated so the sauce accompanying the food was quite cold. The disappointment with the mains were that they did not come with potatoes or the like so had to be bought as an extra. I had chosen a chicken dish which at over £18 was pricey for what you got. There was not a lot of veg so I opted to splash out on potato meaning the main really cost nearer to £22.00.I emphasise the food was nicely prepared and presented but was in my view overpriced.

Im Rahmen einer Schottland Rundreise waren wir eine Nacht in Inverness zu Gast und haben unser Abendessen im "Prime" eingenommen. Es war sehr voll und wir waren froh über die Reservierung. Sehr zuvorkommender Service, tolles Essen. Alles hat gestimmt. Wir hatten (mal wieder in Schottland) Langusten und Steak.

I took my family here back in January, I shared a Chateaubriand with my cousin while his fiancé chose another dish equally appetising. I’ve never had steak like this in my life nor where ever else I have travelled in the world. When someone says the meat just melts in your mouth!! Yeah it does and from here at Prime! I simply can not describe the sensation, flavour and mouth watering richness that we had. I had to take my sister here at a later date. It has now become my favourite in Inverness. I will look forward to my next dining experience here. Service was second to none, staff are really on the ball extremely attentive and they don’t wait till your mouth is full of food before they ask if everything is to your liking that is commendable as any diner will appreciate. I’ve actually observed their staff pause patiently before approaching a table. Coming here to Prime will truly show you what dining out should be like. For those that are interested in cost... they say “you get what you pay for” here you get more than what you pay for and if you can’t see that there’s a kebab shop in town.

This used to be the Riva and was a very good eating place.

We enjoyed ourselves here a lot. It was fun and the wait staff were excellent. The food was okay. I wish I ordered what my wife did instead of the chicken. Still, I recommend going to check it out.

Without a reservation, we were initially turned waway. However, the chap came out on the terrace to retrieve us, after he had quickly worked out a table shuffle. The service was sharp and effective. The menu looked modern and sophisticated. The food did not fully match the exdectation but was very nice.

This restaurant was recommended however it did not live up to its billing or price range (fine dining). Our meals were very good. I had Salmon and my partner had mussels. Both dishes were served hot and were very tasty. This is where the positive in our dining experience ends. The restaurant was pleasantly adorned however it was unbearably hot. We noticed a number of customers asking the management to lower the temperature. Our server was disappointing. He only appeared once to take both our drink order and meal order. Our water glasses were not filled, he did not provide us with the nightly special, he did not enquire if we would like another drink, he did not check to ensure our meal was to our liking. All the things you would expect at a fine dining restaurant were missing. Due to the service or lack of service we felt the Prime Restaurant was over priced.

I was dining solo in Inverness and with no reservation on a Saturday night. A not so hot combo. But Prime had a few tables in the bar area that would accommodate two people and the tables were empty so I inquired and lucked out. The restaurant was packed. I ordered a glass of wine, ordered my food and waited.

Arrivés tardivement, ils ont tout fait pour nous trouver une table rapidement. Accueil agréable, les plats sont délicieux quoi que un peu chers. Les desserts sont un régal pour les papilles ! Que vous ayez encore faim ou pas ils valent le détour...

Ate here on a Sunday, we did attempt to get a table the evening before but they were full. Additionally the maitre d' was in the process of rebuking an Asian family who had just walked in and sat at a table - could not believe how rude he was to this family. The following day we went on a tour and was picked up next to the restaurant and it was apparent that Maitre d' was not working so we checked and was able to have a table. We were seated prompted when we returned at the time offered and ordered drinks, sadly the prosecco was a tad warm! Had the seafood platter which was really nice especially the smoked mussels my partner had the cullen skink which he enjoyed. For mains ordered the salmon which on reflection was a poor choice, I did think ?mushrooms with salmon but thought it would be OK and it just wasn't to my taste at all. Mushrooms overtook the whole plate, smelling really strongly. My partner had the halibut which he really enjoyed. We were not advised that we needed sides with the meal so a bit carb light. Ordered a pudding and my first choice was not available as they had had a very busy night the day before?

Had a brilliant family meal here. The food was amazing and the restaurant would have got 5* if the service had been a little better. The young waitress was delightful and very helpful (when you attracted her attention). However she was incredibly busy. Also just watch when you ask for tap water and you’re given an expensive bottle of water from Italy (when Scotland has the best water in the world). Also when I ordered dessert and only half of it came out without an explanation as to why the pavlova was missing. Kitchen definitely have to stock up on popular ingredients. Would recommend this place but it was a little expensive but we were celebrating so happy with the cost

Very good for a family celebration meal including a 5 year old. Excellent food, drinks and service, highly recommended.
