We had a lovely meal, food great but having Jade look after us made the evening! She is so friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming! A credit to the business.

Disappointing visit. Poor service. Unhelpful staff. Definitely won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Easily the worst dining experience you can have in Norwich.

Lunch today, 2 courses for £24 representing great value in today’s world in my opinion. The starters were especially technical, the food and service was good and we will definitely go again!

I visited Prime in Norwich with my partner over the weekend after booking in advance, and sadly, we left feeling quite disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we were sat in a very dark corner of the restaurant despite pre-booking. One of the biggest issues was the overwhelming smell of steak smoke as soon as you walk through the door. Unfortunately, the restaurant lacks an effective extraction system, so the smoke clings to your clothes. Even after leaving, the smell stayed with us and has triggered a health issue for me as a result. I completely understand the concept of cooking food at your table and the smoke that comes with it, but there really needs to be a solution in place. For the prices charged, I’m shocked this hasn’t ever been addressed. Speaking of price, we spent just under £200 for one cocktail, a beer, a wine, a soft drink, a small starter each, and a main each. My partner had the surf and surf, which was £65 for half a lobster and a fillet steak—smaller than my portion, and although the quality was decent, the price just doesn’t feel justified. In fact, we both felt the prices were steeper than high end London restaurants we’ve been to. We had to ask for our drinks to be topped up, and when I requested for my food to be cooked in the kitchen rather than at the table (to avoid more smoke), the waitress simply assumed my partner didn’t want to cook his himself either. The waitress came across quite upset when we tried to give feedback rather than accommodating our requests. All in all, for a restaurant positioned as a premium experience, it really missed the mark for us. We won’t be returning anytime soon.

Great food and service but hit and miss as they do book large noisy birthday tables and sit you by them with other table free further away.

We recently visited Prime in Norwich for dinner, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had the best experience possible. They guided us through the cooking process, offered recommendations, and made us feel welcome throughout the evening. The ambience of the restaurant was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for both a special occasion and a casual night out. If you’re a steak lover or simply looking for a unique and memorable dining experience in Norwich, Prime is an absolute must-visit. We will definitely be returning!

Absolutely blown away with our meal on Valentine’s Day. 🩷 @primenorwich - Neither of us had been to this restaurant before and was intrigued to give it a try. Prime steak house has been a brilliant experience from as soon as we walked in. First time where we cooked the steak 🥩 this was a very nice experience, different from your normal Restaurant. - very fun we both enjoyed the difference. We also ordered the Mac & cheese 🧀 and Chips 🍟 with Parisian and herbs, the sides was also very tasty, lots of flavour and came out hot 🔥 They also knew it was my birthday on Valentine’s Day to - they surprised me with a birthday treat and wished me a happy birthday - it was so heartwarming ❤️ Prime thank you so much for making our night special 🫶🏽 Very good food, lovely atmosphere and the staff was so helpful and friendly for our first time experience, we will be indeed adding this place on our date nights in the future. 10/10 recommend - 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ from us

Delicious and such a lovely venue and service

Absolutely love this place. Some friends and I thought we'd come back to check out the roasts that are 'from 12pm' so we booked at 6pm. As we were ordering, we were told "All roasts sold out by 1pm, They are very popular!" . Why offer roasts from 12pm if you cant offer them all day?. I was really annoyed as everything else on the menu is A LOT more expensive and we had budgeted to come for the roast. We decided to stay and order the closest thing price wise on the menu. It wad a shame to have this experience as I love it there, so thought i'd warn anyone else who wants a roast!

Fantastic food and great atmosphere. This place is the best steakhouse in town - bar none. Offers a variety of food but steak is their specialty. This place is great for special occassions or romantic date-nights too but just as good for a nice family meal. Food can be pricier thna other places but its very high quality and worth the cost.

The food was definitely good but the only thing I would say was I think there should be more extras to choose from for example: Mushrooms, Spinach & Asparagus

We always love going to prime, the food is excellent and is the service. We have been going since day 1 and will continue to support and visit regularly. Prime is a top level dining experience!

Had a Sunday Roast here, nice just be better with more veg like Brocolli, Parsnips, Cauliflower, Sprouts etc! Roasties and stuffing nice, yorkie bit cold. Plare was filled with carrots, must be on offer at the market! Beef very pink and hard to cut, best say that it is pink on menu so at least know before order it. Also thought be able to do glutine free yorkies as not hard nowadays.

Always have a great time here, you pay for what you get, the staff will do anything to help you and are all so polite and kind. I will always be coming back!

Been here multiple times now, every time just as good! I love the choices you get of meat, seasoning and sauces, making it very accustomed to your choices and on top of that having control of cooking your meat is such a nice touch which makes the experience all the more unique! Will always come back here when I fancy a good steak!

PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHAT NOT TO DO ! I don’t know where to start we had seated and then asked for id when it’s challenge 25 and you could clearly see they were a person of age as they were covered in tattoos and the young man (I assume) was younger then the male he had asked to id, so we could only have soft drinks , we had than waited 40 minutes for a burger but then as it was coming to the table was dropped on the floor as to which we saw and then taken away straight to the kitchen , we were going to wait about 40 minutes for a fresh one but the burger was out in seconds , we then didn’t like that the burger had been on the floor and served to us , we had constant members of staff ask if the burger was okay and we were happy with it making us even more paranoid after a waitress had told us it was made fresh again. They had then forgot our starters with the mains and tried to charger us for it , in the end we left the burgers and paid the bill and went , certainly my first and last time at “prime”

Booked to go here for a family meal. Upon booking noted dress code, smart/ no joggers sports wear etc. We have a family member who has special needs/ sensory needs and is unable to wear anything but jogger style material clothing. I phoned to inform the restaurant and explain the situation & his disability. He would be wearing smart plain joggers no logo. We were refused point blank regardless of his disability, I was also informed that we were going to be sitting in the middle of the restaurant and that we would be seen and other members of the public may see and complain. I Advised them that they where discriminating against our family member and other members of the public but this was not acknowledged and got told they don't change the rules for anyone. Extremely disappointed

Food was excellent, service some if the best I've had in ages. The hot plates make it quite warm inside which was the only thing that could be improved.

Gorgeous restaurant, attentive staff but sadly £113 for Chateaubriand, two sides and two drinks is overpriced for the complete lack of flavour. Bernaise was very runny and lacked any flavour. The steak was the main disappointment; no butter or oil to cook with so it stuck to the lava slab. It REALLY lacked any beefy flavour. The 'wild' mushrooms were button mushrooms, not worth £7.50. Drinks were great as was the atmosphere. A real shame.

Wow! How have I taken so long to come here?! Great atmosphere, amazing staff and the food is divine! As soon as we got there we were sat by a very loud, drunk table and I spoke to the host and he moved us no questions asked, we had the best waitress and enjoyed the food so much! Thank you for having us! ☺️

Delicious food. The staff are absolutely amazing and the biggest credit to place.

The steaks and chips were good, the service friendly enough. BUT the ambiance was obviously conceived by funky clubbers: oppressively dungeon-dark and, taken together with the Godawful infantile music, I half expected a hoodie to shuffle up and ask if I was a user. The creme brulee was a total fail: heavy and greasy to the point of inedible. The staff did not ask why I left it. I guess they already knew. We skipped coffee and fought our way back to the open air. I'm sorry to say we have no plans to return.

Wanted to take my girlfriend out who loves fancy steak restaurants but being Vegan it's tricky as most places don't accommodate. Called Prime and they managed to make me my own starter and main so I could enjoy the experience with my partner. The main was a little underwhelming but I booked last minute so I completely understand that. They said with enough notice the chefs would prepare a much more exclusive meal for me in the future. Staff are all great and really friendly yet professional. Will definitely go back again (coming from a vegan reviewing a steak restaurant)

Service was good, but I suggest not visit over heatwaves as the indoor temperature is much worse than the 30c outdoors. I never wanted to finish my food and get out as badly in a restaurant of this price range. I ended up refusing to acknowledge that it was a special occasion just to pay the bill and leave. The waffle(waffle and chicken) was quite soggy, though flavouring was 'ok', and the steak was a downgrade without the butter The decor isn't bad, but with the temperature it's just a horrible experience.

Been here for our first anniversary, staff were lovely, accommodating and were around whenever we needed them. The food was exquisite and the atmosphere was incredible. All I can say to some this up is to please go, it's an amazing experience and was well worth the money. Freya and Cat were our servers and delivered such a lovely experience that we'll never forget. Thank you so much to those two staff, they deserve to be acknowledged.

I was planning to go with my friend and her daughter on a Thursday, however I’ve received an email today asking if I was aware “ that from the 1st of January 2024, due to recent health and safety concerns within the venue relating to our use of hot rocks we are unable to seat any children under the age of 10”. Since when this is my responsibility to be aware of such things? YOU should post it on your website. I couldn’t find this information anywhere, not even on the booking page. I appreciate that you have to follow H&S guidelines but to let me know two days before is a poor CS.

Great food and very curated atmosphere. Not interested in cooking the steak myself, but that's not necessary, just encouraged. Good selection of desserts.

Been here a few times now and this was the first visit I’ve left disappointed. The young girl who was serving we couldn’t fault- excellent customer service. However the food this time was below par- the steak no longer comes with garlic butter which meant it became overly dry when cooking, and the macaroni cheese was overly oily and generally not good. I don’t know if it was just an ‘off’ day or if they have changed chefs… but in my mind this is no longer the place to go for steak in Norwich. The only reason it didn’t get a one star was again the excellent service from the waiter and the good atmosphere provided from the general theme of the restaurant.

We love coming to prime. We only manage it a couple of times a year but man it's worth it!

This is my second time dining here, as I came to help my friend celebrate his birthday. Despite wearing the same casual outfit as my first visit, we were greeted very coldly by a man who informed us that we probably couldn’t dine there due to their "dress code" before walking away to who knows where. This immediately put me and my friend in an awkward position as we were unaware that casual wear was not allowed. Shortly after, another server came and asked for our reservation again, then led us to our table without even mentioning that our attire was "inappropriate," which left me feeling very conflicted. As I passed through the restaurant, I noticed many customers wearing similar clothes to ours, making me question why the first server deemed our attire "unsuitable." Nevertheless, our server was very nice and displayed excellent customer service throughout the dinner. I ordered the sirloin this time instead of the rib eye, and I would personally recommend sticking with the rib eye if you prefer something juicier, which is what I wanted. The food was undoubtedly good, from the appetiser to the sides. The ambience and decor are really modern and nice; I liked it a lot. I think my server's customer-centric approach bumped the rating from a 3 to a 4, as he compensated for the bad experience we had upon arrival.

Perfect spot for date night if you love steak. Food was great and so was the wine selection. Staff was amazing with us, even having a nice detail with us to make our evening even better. Thanks again

Always a warm welcome here and great food

We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had such a lovely time. My food was great, the steak was so tender. I like being able to cook it at the table so I can have it exactly how I like it. I love the way the restaurant is decorated, so modern and has a good atmosphere.

This restaurant does not only deliver exquisite food, the experience and ambiance was absolutely incredible. The staff were so lovely and polite, the food was an immersive experience and absolutely delicious. The toilets were also very clean. Would recommend what a luxury:)

Smoked out . Diners having steak grilled at their tables unfortunately generated so much smoke the atmosphere became toxic . Food was great , but dry cleaning bill huge ....

I was never a fan of the original Prime tbh. Too small and smelly but since the move to the new property this is definitely one of our family’s favourites. The staff are always very friendly, cheerful and helpful. I admit I have the same fillet steak every time but that’s simply because I never have a bad one. Little bit pricey maybe but on the scale of you get what you pay for the steak is worth it. Just keep the extract fans on and clean and we will return regularly.

The place is absolutely brilliant! The interior is modern and fancy but in a very comfortable way. The staff are delightful and the food is simply divine! It’s on the pricey side but for the quality and portion sizes you get, it’s a very fair price. We’ll be back for sure!

Exceptional greeting at the front desk on arrival. Ambience in restaurant was lovely, food was delicious and served promptly and politely. Drinks were also timed perfectly and there was no awkward wait for the bill. A very enjoyable evening, not cheap but definitely worth the money.

We’ve become monthly regulars 🙌❤️🙏 again an an amazing meal pushed the boat out with surf and turf for two and the team remember us. Is which is always lovely to be greeted by friendly faces, absolutely worth the money as the quality of the food is top tier in a really chilled atmosphere, thanks guys

Fantastic Steak, Fantastic Venue. What more do you need! Will definitely return.

I went with a large group of friends for dinner. The restaurant has a very seductive and stunning decor. Our waiter for the evening Jack was very friendly, attentive and patient, his service throughout the night was exceptional. There wasn't a sweet rosé wine on the menu, which is a shame, so we went for the least dry. The cocktails however, are lovely. I had the pork starter which was beautiful, melt in the mouth perfection. It was light and the croquette was filled with tender pork. I had the sirloin for my main course. The sirloin was a generous size and it was fun to further cook and season the beef, I also had peppercorn sauce which tasted great. The sirloin was delicious! Sadly, the macaroni cheese side dish tasted just like pasta out of a pan of plain boiling water. I couldn't taste any cheese sauce at all, which was a disappointment. I had the cheese platter for dessert, I was a little disheartened at the size of the cheeses offered and the chutney was flavourless. It is a very expensive treat, so a few tweaks to the wine selection, desserts and focus on the side dishes would make it perfect. An unforgettable dining experience overall, a very special contemporary restaurant, with outstanding service from Jack. Five stars 🌟

Been here twice now for dinner and both times were absolutely fabulous. Once came with a group of 8 and it was a pleasant experience for everyone. Great service, delicious food, tasty drinks, and amazing ambiance! Celebrated my birthday here and it was a memorable. Cooking the steak on the lava rock is an awesome experience and I definitely recommend it, although you can have kitchen cook it for you if you’d prefer. My only complaints are that they used fresh cherries on the Cherry Bomb cocktail the first time I came(pictured), and when I went more recently they used a candy cherry(not pictured). It made the glass sticky and wasn’t too appetizing. The cocktail was still delicious! And the half a lobster was a bit over done.

We have been before but that was when it was located in the Edith Cavell. So excited to go again at its new location (been there a while now) & take friends who have never been. It did disappoint. Booking is easy, go online select a date and time and size of your party. At this point you can put any special requests in. I love mac n cheese but they make theirs with blue cheese which I'm not a fan of so I request they make me one without the blue cheese. On the day of our reservation we received an email to check we were still going which I just needed to confirm. On arriving at the restaurant we received a lovely greeting, asked if we'd like them to take our coats and they popped them in a cloakroom duly giving us a ticket to retrieve them. We were then shown to our table. The decor is beautiful, so relaxing and spacious, they haven't tried to cram in as many tables as possible. We were promptly seen to at our table and drinks orders taken and the waitress confirmed my mac and cheese order without prompting. So this is my only negative comment, they had wine from the local Flint Vineyard for £52 a bottle, I sell that for £19.50. I appreciate it's always more in restaurants but that is some mark up! Knowing how full we'd get, we skipped a starter. Our guests had the chateaubriand and we had a ribeye and shared sides of chips, onion rings and of course the mac and cheese. The meal was divine, beautiful piece of steak, fluffiest/best chips I've had in a long time, massive onion rings and my mac and cheese did not disappoint. I had the jaffa cake for dessert and the others had the Cheesecake. The service throughout the meal was great, good balance of attentive without being overbearing and always with a smile. Don't forget to check out the ceiling in the toilets, no it's not broccoli it's covered in moss!

Beautiful setting and good service, but there is no excuse for giving a steak straight out of the fridge, this is steak 101 needs to be at room temperature minimum, no one likes a icy middle, and not what you expect at a steakhouse.

Great little restaurant based just outside the St Giles car park for great convenience. The food was of exceptional taste and quality. Staff were very friendly with bubbly attitudes. Highly recommended.

Terrible service traveled to eat here just to find out my booking for 7:30 was booked under the wrong name and made for 9:30 yet staff couldn't and wouldn't say nothing other than sorry. Very disappointing on a special night

Turned up for a birthday dinner with 8 people, dinner had been booked for a while in advance, people had been in to discuss dropping of a cake and lots more. To be told that we wouldn’t be allowed to dine as we had a child with us. Child that has been to the restaurant before!! Ruined birthday evening. Will not book again, please avoid if you have any birthday plans.

I've always wanted to go here (even when it was above the Edith Cavell) but hadn't been until last night. I have to say I was not disappointed l, in fact if anything it surpassed my expectations. The restaurant is relatively new so decor etc is still in fantastic condition. The food was beautiful. The fillet steak was so tender and cooking it on the super hot skillet was an enjoyable experience. The service from all members of the team was equally good. We had full three courses, lots of drinks (cocktails, wines, beers etc) and the bill was circa £100 per head (including service charge). That is high, but like i say, we had a lot of drinks. Definitely be going back. We'll done Prime for an all round great experience

Had a small post Xmas work meeting here. Pre-ordered food, had an additional guest who's order was taken quickly. Food was well.cooked and presented. Staff were friendly and attentive. We all want to go again.

Amazing steak, best I’ve ever had I think (I’ve eaten many over the years!) Loved the volcanic stone you cooked your steak on to your taste, service was great and ambience fantastic!

Poor front of house. Can’t understand their own booking system. ONLY booking they had this evening online was 19:30. Staff said “we are booked out all evening apart from 19:30” So- Poor reception; No attempt to check if busy (which it won’t be at start of service @ 17:00). Dismissive handling.

Very nice atmosphere and service. The food was good, however, the gimmick of cooking the food on the hot rock actually made the experience worse, as it takes a while to cook your food using it. I'd prefer to just have the steak cooked normally. The food is good, but quite expensive.

From the moment of walking into the building 2 the moment we left I can honestly say I've never been as well looked after as I was in here the staff was so kind despite it being a busy new years eve. Fantastic service at our table & the quality of food was excellent. I left totally satisfied & would 100% recommend this place 2 anyone who enjoys good food. To boot the waitresses found out it was my birthday & sorted me out a dessert. Top notch.

This is a really lovely space to enjoy special meal. The menu offered a great selection for three people with very different palates. The service was attentive yet discreet and the vibe is relaxed yet rather cool. Pricing is fair for the quality of ingredients, excellent cooking and impeccably presentation. Will definitely return

Had a very nice sunday meal there. Shared a sirloin roast platter, which was very well cooked. Vegetables, in particular were nicely cooked. Other member of party had beef Wellington and judging by the speed it was demolished it was as equally good. Rounded out by some excellent deserts. Service was also very good. Price is on the high side, but given the quality, we'll be back.

We came to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere was really good, great service, and the hot stone plate for steak is definitely a new experience for me. Came here for the two-course lunch which was £20.

Travelling from London to Norwich for two nights on business I thought I would dine out for the evening. I searched online, local fine dining restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel I was staying at and Prime steak house was available. All other restaurants were fully booked (should of realised then). On arrival the restaurant was not very busy and I was shown to my table. I ordered a drink and a few moments later a waiter took my order. I started with the oysters and to follow the rack of lamb. The oysters were mediocre and I'm afraid to say that the rack of lamb at £65 without no sides or sauce (just slices of meat that were also cold) was very disappointing to say the least. I ordered some side chips which was the only satisfying part of the meal. I made my concerns aware to the waiter who just seemed to look into oblivion. Fine dining, I think not, one could get better quality from a high street fast food restaurant and that's saying something

Booked in for an anniversary dinner, the staff very kindly let me turn up early to decorate the table with some flowers. They also decorated our dessert with a happy anniversary message which was lovely. Food was everything it’s hyped up to be. There were a few things that really soured the experience however. There’s a ticketing system for your jackets/bags etc. so you can leave them in a closet while you’re eating. It was a very rainy day and all of the umbrellas had been put on the floor without tickets, which inevitably led to our expensive umbrella being taken by someone else. The staff weren’t too sure about what to do, I could see them bickering amongst themselves when we bought it to their attention. They took some contact information and promised to look into it and give us a call. We had gotten dressed up for the night and it was pouring down with rain and it was only after we’d pointed that out that they gave us a pink, broken child’s umbrella that had been sitting there for a while. It didn’t lock open, and only after watching me struggle with it for a minute outside did someone come and offer to give me some money for a new one, which is a fair offer but didn’t really do anything to help the issue of getting home dry. On reflection, I think the most appropriate thing for the staff to have done would be to offer to call us a taxi. It just seemed like as soon as there was a problem the otherwise excellent service just broke down. The whole exchange took maybe 5 minutes, all we really wanted was to figure out how we were going to get home dry after the umbrella had been lost but we were being pushed out the door. There was also a really awful smell in the lobby. It smelled like an open sewer drain so perhaps that couldn’t be helped. In the end, a very nice meal ended with us soaked through in our nice clothes, with our umbrella missing. This all to say that the food, atmosphere etc. is just as nice as advertised (the cocktails were genuinely mind blowing!), but the negative aspect of my visit is something a prospective visitor would want to know about.

Lovely place, went here for a very special birthday. The steak was amazing! We don't normally spend that much money on food but as a one off treat it delivered in every way.

First time we've been here since they moved and what a difference! They deserve five stars purely for the service - not a single fault whatsoever and from the second we walked in, it was friendly and welcoming from everyone we even walked past! The food was also excellent and as was the wine.
