Lovely spot for a vegan Sunday lunch and drinks. Highly recommended. Great staff and atmosphere. The Tofu 'fish and chips was nice, as was the Burger and Roast Dinner.

Wanted to post a review because this was our second time here and we wanted to thank the really nice lady with the Lucy and Yak jeans and blondy ginger hair who has always been super lovely to us! The music was a bit loud as the evening wore on, but the food was amazing! The fajita burger is the best burger - vegan or no - I have eaten in ages and the service was friendly. This is a very cool spot. Will definitely be back!

Me and my partner was in Nottingham for the night,we find it hard to find good vegan restaurants.Well Prickly Pear pulled it off,very welcoming and nice vibe.You can just pop in for a drinks.We ordered the fish and chips minted peas and curry sauce,my partner had the kofia ans salad,we was both very pleased when the food arrived.I would definitely recommend it and prices were very reasonable.I would return when I next in Nottingham 🙏

Absolute vegan scranage in a sick little pub, wicked staff, you’d be foolish not to check it out

Great vegan options that will keep you happy. The chips were amazing. I went for jerk style chips and was blown away. Lots of selection of drinks available. I would highly recommend this place if you are vegan and want lots of vegan options to choose from the interior is also very nice and they have a seating area upstairs.

Visited here for tea/dinner earlier today with a friend. First impressions where good, we where kindly greeted on arrival and told to find a seat to our liking, the place was clean, roomy and welcoming. A fully vegan pub well that’s a first! I got the tofu fish and chips my friend got the open burrito, the batter was tasty tofu was tasty but the chips where skinny... I didn’t see an option for fat chips which would have paired perfectly with that. The burrito looked awesome and very nutritious. The drinks selection was ok. They have plenty of pale ales lagers and ciders but only 1 stout/dark beer which was Guinness. So something else would be nice maybe something locally brewed? The location is good there are several bicycle stands outside and a short walk away from Nottingham city parks secure bike parking lot. Every city needs a pub like this. All of the people working here clearly have great pride in working this pub. I probably be a regular here as it's extremely difficult to find unique vegan food at a reasonable price elsewhere. I don’t usually write detailed reviews but a great deal of thought and effort has gone into this place.

Prickly Pear is based in The Golden Fleece pub, ten minutes walk from Nottingham City Centre. The Golden Fleece is a traditional 19th c pub that has established a good vibe with the resident student population. This is very tasty and hearty vegan food. In a menu that mimics recognised meaty meals. It works too.

Amazing food, amazing ethics. Tyler has done an amazing job in the kitchen both times we've been, and today he was stuck in the kitchen by himself with a very busy bar ordering food. While the food is exciting, it falls short of what you would expect for the price. The service is slow, taking an hour to receive your food and the waiting is ruined by the awkward placement of this pop up style eatery inside a local pub.

Went with my Rottie Vera and the people were so welcoming to us both so very dog friendly. Food was absolutely delicious and they did a special seasoning free plate of chips for Vera. Wish I lived locally!

Only 4 cuz i love meat. Didn't know was vegan. Mrs is not vegan and loves meat. She loved it and would go again. Only thing is not enough filling. Please add more. From the taxi driver in a red top. Thanks for a great service.

The vegan restaurant is in a nice pub, with good comfie seating options. Vegan food was really good. I had the full breakfast which was a good size without going xxl. Great coffees too. Very friendly staff. Nice place to hang out and get some decent food. Thanks for looking after us =)

Take note: The Prickly Pear is no longer in its own location as marked on Google Maps, but has moved into The Golden Fleece pub down the street on the corner. As far as I can tell, the Prickly Pear is basically just the kitchen of the pub, not really sure what the relationship between the two is. But whatever. The pub employees are super nice and I had a delicious Guinness and a nice chat while waiting for my breakfast burrito. The only interaction I had with the Prickly Pear staff (I think) was the waitress who brought out my food after a good 30-40 minutes and apologized that it took so long. The breakfast burrito was good enough, the sauce on top was quite yummy but the burrito itself was pretty heavy on the rice and otherwise nothing to really write home about. I did look at some other dishes on another group's table and they looked quite good, and due to the friendly banter I'm gonna be generous and round my original 3.5/5 (also due to the longish wait) up to 4/5. For a vegan in Nottingham, certainly worth a visit, and I'll visit again and try something else like the mac and cheese if I get a chance.

The best vegan food I have tasted so far and relaxing atmosphere.

I’m not sure if we just caught them on a bad day, but I was super excited to try the food here and I was left feeling really disappointed. Maybe it was the fact they weren’t in their own shop and actually in the Golden Fleece pub a few doors down, but our food took an hour to get to us and you couldn’t even state it was busy. We ordered a burger and fries, and the French toast. The French toast was cold when it got to us, the burger was barely warm and the chips were the only hot thing. The pub also didn’t really have any of the teas available. When we received our food another guy also asked when his food would be out as he had been waiting about 40 minutes. As soon as he said this his food came out to him right away. It made me think our food had been sat on the side for ages whilst they had a conversation as I could hear them chatting in the kitchen. I’m not really sure what happened today and why it took an hour especially when they weren’t at all busy (there were maybe 4 tables of people), but I was starving whilst waiting for my food and then became hangry pretty quickly. The food itself had some nice flavour, but i was so hungry I basically inhaled it so didn’t get to enjoy it. I will say the fries are amazing, I’m not sure what they season them with but they were delicious.

Great place for dinner, really friendly and welcoming staff, would recommend.

Really disappointed with the Prickly pear, we booked a table for my mum's birthday, my Aunt had travelled from Leeds and I had travelled as well, to find when we got there the place was completely closed. I left a voicemail and send a message on their Instagram page, but still no one has got back to me 4 days later. I appreciate things can happen that are unavoidable, but they're able to update their social media promoting people to book in yet unable to contact my mum who booked the table, or respond to my contact. This is extremely poor. I also had a similar experience almost a year ago when I tried to book a table for a Saturday, they advised they didn't take bookings on Saturdays and I explained we were travelling from out of area and if they could guarantee a space at the time of arrival. They confirmed it was usually quiet at that time with maybe a small wait but would be able to accommodate us, only to find that when we arrived it was closed. These two events have ensured we will never return. The natural food company and 13th element on the other hand are absolutely fantastic and each saved the day on those two occasions.

Had a meal with a pal here today, where we each had our own smoothies and shared 3 dishes: buffalo cauliflower wings, garlic fries and the fishy tacos. Lovely food, the food did take quite a while to come (around an hour) which was surprising considering that its quite a small restaurant. Nevertheless, had a lovely time there.

Small vegan restaurant but lovely atmosphere and very dog friendly. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. The hot weather had meant there had been a run on cold drinks so my first choice was not available but enjoyed my alternative

I visited here for the first time recently and was really impressed. The food was delicious and the staff were all really friendly.

The staff were really helpful and friendly, and the dining area was lovely with lots of great art on the walls. I had the Fishy Tacos and Doner fries, they were perfect. And they had a chocolate orange cake that was a great way to end a meal. This was great food and a great experience! Check it out, for sure.

The breakfast was super tasty. The scrambled tofu was gorgeous and there was a great range of hot sauce available ❤ The cappuccino was one of the best I've tried, so smooth and creamy! The guy gave us some free fries too even though we didn't order them. We will definitely be back next time we are in Nottingham.

My partner and I visited today and had a delicious meal! I went for the Holy Smoke and my partner went for the East Asian Pervasion, we shared Jerk Fries, I had the hobnob biscoff shake but was also tempted by the chocolate peanut butter, the caramel banana and the espresso vanilla shakes. My partner had the alcohol free tropical Tiny Rebel. We really enjoyed our meals! Delicious. She staff were very kind and the service was speedy.

Absolutely lovely food. The tastiest vegan burgers we have ever had and freshly made too. We will be back the next time we are in Nottingham.

I've eaten here twice (the second time with my wife) and was very impressed with both the food and the friendly, knowledgeable staff. My wife pursues a vegetarian diet more rigorously than I do, but we both agree that the food was absolutely delicious!

It’s so great to find a vegan paradise so close to our new photography studio! The atmosphere is warm and friendly, all the staff are lovely and you immediately feel at home as if part of an extended family. On to the food..! Amazing. Simply put, vegan delights. We sampled a variety of dishes across the brunch menu and main menu and was blown away by how delicious each of them were. BLT was out of this world, credit to the cafe for hunting down some of the best vegan bacon we have ever tasted. Accompanied by some Garlic fries, this was a seriously good combo. Tofu Scramble… wow. (See picture!) Hearty brunch goodness at its best - also highly recommended. We also had milkshakes, smoothie bowl to take away and a slice of cake made by another local vegan business. Vegan and omnivores alike - give this place a go, you’re missing out until you do. We’ll certainly become regulars now we’ve discovered it so close to our studio. Thanks for having us 🌱😁

Unbelievable food! Some of the tastiest vegan options we've had. Staff were super friendly and made us a special dessert which was the size of our heads 😂. My boyfriend had the "devil's avocado burger" and I had the "Holy Smokes" burger...both of which were delicious. The garlic fries were VERY garlicky- just how I like 'em. Thanks again guys!

Absolutely delicious vegan food! We come here regularly and it never disappoints. Staff are incredibly friendly and patient with kids. Makes you feel relaxed and very welcome. Can't wait to come back soon!

We come here with my non-veg friend every March when she is vegan for a month for Her beliefs and we always leave happy and satisfied. The foos is absolutely gorgeous and so tasty. The prices are a bit too much I guess it is what you get for everything fresh and prepared in the kitchen in front of you. Despite the service being a bit slow, the ambiance and the staff being so nice make up for it!

Long wait for food but understandable as cooked from scratch and appreciated seeing in to open plan kitchen. Three of us and we all had different and all thoroughly enjoyed. Very tasty top quality ingredients. Unlike me to finish a meal which I did and can't wait to go back. Worked out around £15 each for four mains two sides and drinks - very reasonable

Amazing food! Staff are wonderful and very helpful and happy to answer any questions, it’s a great place for vegans to be able to order anything from the menu and great for anyone looking to try something new. The cafe is beautifully decorated with plants, cactuses and art and all in all has a great atmosphere

Not being residents of Nottingham, my wife and I asked our local vegan community for recommendations for lunch. Prickly Pear received most votes and it did not disappoint. The staff were welcoming and water was brought immediately. The menu was varied and we were tempted by several dishes. We chose burgers with hand cut chips. They were the most delicious burgers we had tasted and the chips were perfect. There were several diners in the café but the staff found time to chat to us. We found the cafe cosy and inviting and will definitely be returning.

My boyfriend spotted this cafe online and we thought we would visit whilst in Nottingham. The food certainly didn’t disappoint - we both had burgers and they were delicious! The staff are great and the food all tastes really fresh. We would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

Went for an alternative lunch with my daughter. The staff were super friendly and happy to squeeze us in despite being very busy. The food that was presented was visually appetising with lots of bright colours. The actual taste was tremendous. Great flavours and textures and generous serving sizes. I'm not a vegan but I would definitely go Flexi based on this experience alone. Worth every penny, I'll definitely be coming back. Thanks guys.

This was my first and last time visiting this establishment . Was really excited to try out a full vegan restaurant. When we got there we were told the heating was broken along with the blender taking off a lot of the menu like milkshakes and Mac and cheese. We then placed our order and waited over an hour and a half to receive our food , which was only a burger , Donner and chips. Along with a half an hour wait for two hot chocolates. For around 40 minutes if not longer , not a single person in the whole restaurant had any food ( which was 4 tables). When the food did arrive it was inedible , leaving us both feeling sick. Definitely don’t recommend.

Dined earlier on in the year and left a unfavourable review, returned again due to the quality of food and seeing that the chef had gone on maternity (glad my wife told me as I wouldn't have returned). So impressed with the new meaty beetroot burger! The service was fab, the new chef and the gentlemen had such an electric relationship, we sat on a table next to the kitchen and we even Joined In the conversation like we were friends. Their humour bounced off each other and us, creating a very unique service - couldn't recommend more! Can't wait to go back when we visit the in-laws again!!

We visited on a Saturday evening and had such a lovely meal, I'd definitely recommend Prickly Pear if you're looking for Vegan food in Notts. All the staff were super friendly and attentive. There was a bit of an issue with a broken blender delaying our cocktail order slightly but we were made aware and they (needlessly) apologised for the slight delay. We ordered from the Christmas menu and had Christmas cocktails to go along with it. The pigs in blankets burrito and poutine were a lovely combo and the best Christmassy meal I've had in years! Overall this is a lovely place with tasty food and a really friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Found this gem, across the road from where we were staying, the staff were so accommodating and managed to give us a table although hadn't booked and busy. The food was wonderful...freshly prepped & cooked.. my Aztec was delicious & other half's Devil's avocado burger...

The experience at Prickly Pear was so good we've already booked to go back. The food is all cooked to order and so fresh. The only difficulty is choosing what to have! I had the biscoff and hobnob milkshake, Aztec, and Chipotle Fries, followed a little later with a Golden Tumeric Latte. The ambience is laid back and the staff are friendly. We were never made to feel rushed at all as we got there at 6.30pm and didn't leave till much later. Thank you for a lovely evening Prickly Pear. Looking forward to next time to try the Christmas Menu.

Absolutely sensational! Cute little cafe just a short walk from the city centre. A little bit of a wait for food because it's a very small team and kitchen, but absolutely worth the wait for fresh delicious food and sweet service. Great for a chilled, cosy long lunch with coffee and cake. ✨

I'd neglected the Pear since before lockdown and what a mistake this was. So much did I regret this, I ended up going two days in a row. Breakfast was great, with portions just right and packed with some gutsy flavour. Great to get a more inventive vegan breakfast than sausage, beans and hash browns. Tofu scramble with avo and bangers was great! Staff are friendly, chilled and clearly dedicated. The cafe is small but always busy when I've gone, and there's a great vibe and clearly thr place attracts a clientele that's as diverse as the menu options. Special mention of the Biscoff Millionaire Shortbread, which was divine, sent my blood glucose soaring, and remind me that I can be an indulgent vegan but often a bad diabetic at the same time:) Absolutely top notch.

Simply wonderful food. Our server was friendly, polite and joyful. We were lucky enough to get to chat to the chef....and boy, does that grrrrl know her stuff. Came away with a full tummy and more knowledge on cooking sustainably. Finally, it's great to be in a place that isn't jumping on the vegan bandwagon or using veganism as a fashion prop. These people know their stuff and walk the walk

Food was great when it eventually turned up. Great food but extremely slow and disorganised service. I waited 50 minutes for a breakfast, with only 2 tables in the cafe.

My daughter and I visited pre a gig at Rock City, we dont live in the area, but had searched to find somewhere vegan to eat and Prickly Pear looked good. We weren't disappointed, the food was delish and the staff lovely and chatty and friendly. We will definitely be visiting again. We have actually contemplated driving 40 mins each way just to pick up a weekend takaway :)
