Prezzo Ipswich in Ipswich

This will be our last visit to a Prezzo. We have always had a variable experience at this chain and tonight's was a very unpleasant visit. The service was awful: 30 minutes before a drink arrived; (yes, I know, we should have walked out). No apologies or explanations. The manager was serving the busy room on his own and had to enlist the bar guy to help. Most of the customers were frustrated; food and drink just wasn't coming anytime soon. Tip to Prezzo Management: In my house the first thing you do after welcoming a guest is to offer them a drink. Your chain should follow that principle or you could be regarded as being very rude and unthinking hosts. The first course eventually arrived; it was the correct order and the plates were warm. After that it everything went south. Four small fried balls containing an unpleasant gloop sitting on some sort of sauce arrived; these apparently were the 'Arancini'. Apart from being vastly overpriced at £8.95 they just didn't have the right to call themselves arancini. Forensic inspection revealed zero risotto rice and 99% green mush. The other starter which went by the name on the menu as 'Calamari' and also priced at £8.95 is certainly one to avoid if you like calamari. Eight or nine small sections of a squid ring were deep fried to a very dark brown; tasteless, chewy and nothing like the calamari one should expect in an Italian Restaurant, even in Ipswich. By now we were extremely hungry and looked forward to our main courses with some trepidation. My partner's Chicken and Mushroom Rigatoni and my Spaghetti Bolognese arrived in good time; unfortunately I had ordered Rigatoni Arrabiata so back to the kitchen to try again. Anyway, fair to say that the Chicken Rigatoni was actually quite good; cream,tasty and a decent helping. Regrettably, we cannot say the same fo the Arrabiata. You should expect it to be full of rich tomato, garlic and chilli flavours. Well, the chilli certainly came through, not so much the garlic or the tomato, the latter being a very thin, reddish liquid without seasoning. Don't order this one unless you suffer from ageusia. Well short of being replete, we asked for the bill and the nice young man who presented it asked if we had enjoyed the meal. It was extremely average we said and he, taking this as a compliment, passed us the card machine. We noticed that he had cancelled the option for leaving a gratuity.

What a fabulous evening spent at prezzos in Ipswich this evening..although the restaurant was exceptionally busier than normal due to football and fireworks the staff were amazing..so friendly and welcoming big shout out to Korban who was seeing to us and absolute credit to the prezzo chain..professional..knowledgeable..welcoming..and great in his role..also the food was delicious and came out in a timely fashion..well done guys you were amazing and we are already looking forward to our next booking ..five stars from us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Staff are very good. Standard chain menu, we had deep fried mozzarella, burrata, and tomato salad. Then, caramelised onion garlic bread, one as a single portion (GF), one to share for the other members of the group.

The tone of the experience was set from the outset with no greetings, just one word "allergies?". Made us feel like a number. The back half of the restaurant was being used for a first aid event, however the front half was available with most tables free. The waiter offered us the table directly next to the entrance, a small table in an awkward location. We said we wanted to be seated in a different location which we were but seemed to annoy the waiter. He immediately asked us if we wanted to order drinks, we had not seen the menu and literally just sat down. After asking for some time, he then sent over a different waiter to take the order. We were happy to see meatballs back on the menu so ordered them as starters and ordered spaghetti bolognaise and penne with creamy chicken with mushrooms. At best the food quality was average. The bolognaise could easily have been a ready meal from a supermarket. The creamy chicken was better but quite bland. Overall the whole experience was expensive, unfriendly, low quality in service and food and once home our digestion suffered from the low quality. We have been to other Prezzos in the past such as Norwich and Witham and the experience at these locations was much better. Unlikely to be returning.

This restaurant is located in the buttermarket. Due to the furniture being made from hard surfaces it can seem abit loud when busy as the noise bounces around. Other than that it is a lovely venue and is always clean. Went out for a meal, we had the bruschetta and garlic bread with mozzarella for starter and a margarita pizza for main. Always enjoyable and well worth trying. Very enjoyable for a Monday night.

Quick pre theatre meal. Didn't anticipate all the local restaurants been so busy after a football match so ended up at Prezzo. Sat in the outside area. Food was served hot and tasty

We visited as a family and the food was fantastic. Service could have been a bit quicker but it was getting busy when we were in there.

I had a three course meal with my friend and it was fantastic. Drink - strawberry lemonade, non-alcoholic, delicious Starter - calamari, cooked perfectly and came with a very tasty dip Mains salad - best I've ever had. Full of a variety of fresh ingredients, including avocado. Chicken was cooked perfectly, and the crispy bacon was lovely. Pudding was a seasonal cheesecake that came with cream and berries. I will definitely be back, thank you.

Order was never delivered “lost”I suppose £52 worth of food refund also in the woods! Speechless

Have been here about 3 times.....and has changed my opinion on prezzo had visited elsewhere years ago and didn't care for it....Ipswich has definitely won me over...salute 🍷

Great meal, fabulous service. Visited before the theatre and the food was so good. I had the meatball starter and a Caesar salad. Both amazing. Mum had the crab and prawn ravioli. Can't praise this restaurant enough. Staff are wonderful.

I went here and had crab and lobster ravioli. (£17.85) A massive bowl came out... With no word of a lie .. 5 bits of pasta. I did mention that I was disappointed and the server said I know... It's how it comes as that's how we have to do it to compete with the market and that's what all the other restaurants are doing! I will not go back. I think I wasted my money and I left very hungry. I would not recommend to anyone.

Hot drinks need to be hotter, other than than that, great

Ordered a margarita pizza which arrived drenched in cheese and oil & was so oily I couldn’t eat it. Dont usually complain however did mention it, they offered to put it back in the oven to crisp it up, done that & come out exactly the same. No one come to check it was ok until someone asked how the meal was, I then asked to swap it, my friend had already nearly finished their food by then. They then bought out pasta, it was ok but by time it come out I wasn’t hungry and didn’t eat much. Waitress saw I hadn’t and said ‘I hope they sort something off the bill for you’ however they proceeded to charge me full price. Would never return here

I came I made a order for 60£ so he told me he only accepts card I don't have a card . Only cash I WILL NEVER EVER COME TO THIS PLACE , WHAT A WARST IF TIME

Birthday treat with my ex work colleagues. We had a booth at the back. Lovely attentive staff and really good food. Highly recommended for that quick, quality pizza and pasta.

Won’t be returning. My husbands salmon pasta had several bones in, my cannelloni was microwaved, boiling hot on coming out swimming in water in the hot plate, got cold very quickly. Garlic bread was very greasy. Took ages for them to take our drinks order, we ordered food at the same time as waited that long. Was never asked how our meal was whilst eating or at paying

A really fantastic experience all around. I've only been to prezzos twice, in two separate locations, but so far the food has been consistently excellent. Potentially a little pricier than their competitors but well worth it. I had the calzone and it was almost too big to finish which was a very pleasant surprise. Service at this Prezzos was incredibly good; both the waiter and the manager (who came over a couple times of his own accord) were polite and helpful. The manager in particular, upon seeing that I had saved some garlic butter from the starter, brought some more over for me which was very much appreciated. Given that it's in the heart of Ipswich and close to plenty of things to do, this restaurant was well worth the visit.

Food was cold and the drink was warm

Amazing food, really lovely service from the staff - one brought my boyfriend some more garlic butter for his main after noticing he saved some provided with our starter. Really nice atmosphere too - thoroughly recommend!

Update 2nd visit and food was superb! This is definitely one of the best prezzo we’ve been to! A great prezzos branch with very good staff! Very impressed with high level of service, good arrived quickly. Staff attentive and really engaged! starters and mains were lovely, wasn’t so sure on the dessert! 🍨 Recommend the calamari starter! Focaccia sandwiches were a nice change! Good value, convenient location and good food!

Service was fast however the food was just mid wasn't good by any means but wasn't bad enough to say something. Servers are there just to do a job, and when I went there it was closer to a daycare than a restaurant.

Driver decided to accept 2 orders. Collected mine, went to mcdonalds to collect another order, drove all the way up to Colchester Road and then came back to deliver my order. My food was sat in his car for over 30 minutes going stone cold.

Not the cheapest place but definitely would recommend. Excellent customer service. Lovely coffee and cake. Cosy surrounding.

My food was OK, unfortunately several dishes were off the menu, some of our party were disappointed. The restaurant was card payment only which caused a problem as there were 9 people in our party who each wanted to pay for their own food and drinks which meant we had to give cash to one person who then had to pay on his card

Excellent. Manager gave my grandson a chair to kneel on to watch our pizza being made and cooked. Everyone very kind.

Had dinner here tonight, very pleased with food. Service was fine, quickly had orders taken and food produced. I had the chicken, bacon and avocado salad and it was delicious. Nicely presented and colourful too. We had a taste card, two courses and a drink were £20. Happy customer

Lovely staff and food comes out fast, maybe to fast? The food tasted lovely although the garlic bread with a sit disappointing. Very expensive for what it is so will not be visiting unless I have a money off code.

Pizza is tiny. Looks like child’s portion. Won’t be ordering again. Really disappointed

Good food and great service. Had a table booked for midday with my son, we’re greeted promptly and shown to our table, couldn’t fault the service at all. Drinks were ordered and turned up quickly, we were slow in choosing our dishes due to the range of dishes available. Eventually we ordered starters of crispy fried mozzarella and king prawn gnocchi, followed by chicken Alfredo rigatoni and rigatoni alla rustica. Not long to wait and food was fresh cooked and hot, decent sized portions and very tasty. I had two pints of Birrifico Angelo Poretti and my boy a pint of Rekorderlig mixed berries cider, was a bit taken back when the bill turned up at nearly £71. Good food, great service but in my opinion on the expensive side for a lunch.

My son and I visited Prezzo, Ipswich last week. We have previously been a few times before as it’s our most local branch. We visited on a Friday lunchtime and it wasn’t too busy. I was able to use Meerkat meals which gives you 25% off. My son ordered Carbonara with extra Chicken and I ordered the Chicken, Bacon and Avocado Salad. The food was delivered to us within about 15 minutes of ordering, so super quickly and our servers were really friendly! We were so pleased with our meals. They were of a good portion size and were delicious too. We will be back again!

This particular Prezzo is good. Staff are friendly, however food can take a while to come out. It's a big chain, so expect good reliable classic Italian food– but not something with the quality delivered straight from Italy! Prices are a bit steep for what it is.

Lovely pizza and chips, refreshing beer and tried a blood orange cocktail all went down very well. Friendly staff with great service

Went as a group for a friends birthday meal. Service and food were good. I asked and they kindly boroughs out a piece of dessert cake and candle so we could sing happy birthday. They were happy for us to split the bill. In all a great experience.

The staff were excellent, greeted by a wonderful young man, and the wait staff were brilliant. Very friendly and helpful. Food was top-notch. Delicious!

Great food as always, took a little longer than usual but staff did look busy. Always have the pizza and it never disappoints! Would like some for beer options but wine options are good

For lovers of beige foods. I loved the idea of having family time and a treat of dining out. The food was ok and generic , bland beige, no actual flavour and well sad really the only thing that did have a taste or flavour was the lemonade that was so sharp set your mouth tingling ... the trends and flacid fads of healthy fast food is a no... this was not really accommodating to the various other diets I.e vegetarian or vegan.. The limited menu was pale .. the burgers were generic and the child pizza was ok.. the pasta dish was so bland that the baby ate it... shame it cost £80 to have a ok generic time... the best part were the staff . They gave you time to actually eat, didn't consistently bug you , however it did take 30 min to get a cup of water.. shame.... they do offer blue light discounts but if I am honest I paid full price as I couldn't get-out of there quick enough... sorry we we won't be coming back.. we would rather go to the Westfield railway inn , or venue 19 out of town as they offer significantly similar menus at the same prices but the food actually has flavour with great service.. Thanks to Tom and his team for another great lunch experience. The service here is so friendly, and I love the Truffle Burger! Lunch with friends here in relaxed surroundings is always jolly, and reasonably priced too. Highly recommended

Lovely family meal, really nice, a tad expensive but wad nice so it was worth it.

The only good thing about this place is the staff. They are polite and all hard working. This is not Italian food. Watery small stingy portions, poorly seasoned. Burnt garlic bread. So noisy, had to shout to each other to converse . Overpriced.

A really enjoyable time. Super service and excellent food. Will come again.

Fantastic service and food, try the new lager as it is a great addition to the menu. I found this place to be very child friendly, which is great with an active 4 year old.

Booking wasn't needed, was instantly given a table, the wait for the food wasn't too long, Very friendly staff, quiet and calming atmosphere, a nice place for an (expensive) chat with a small group or loved one

Called in after a visit to the cinema, as is our custom. Menu had recently changed and we enjoyed delicious lasagna and pasta meals accompanied by garlic bread. Pleasant welcome, helpful staff. We will return. Thank you.

It's a nice place to hang out with friends, customer service okay, nice food but the plates weren't heated up therefore the food got cold really quickly, otherwise everything okay.

Portion size was dreadful for a fully grown male. So my 3 year old had it instead and had it all. Poor considering it cost £15 Never again

Really like the quiet well serviced ambience, lots of room. Vegetarian Calzone was stunning. Waitress was excellent and attentive, though not bothersome. Recommended and we'll be going back for sure.

Food was very tasty but was only luke-warm when it arrived sadly even though the driver did not experience any delays in transit. Better facilities to keep orders heated in transit is needed I feel.

Nice lunch, especially with the free birthday Prosecco. Food was good and tasty. Service prompt and professional. Spotlessly clean and bright. An issue with the bill was quickly dealt with. Only things I’d add are that prices are on the high side (like many nowadays)...
