Prezzo - Braintree in Braintree

It once was a nice Italian chain-restaurant with a good kitchen which I visited every few weeks. Sadly that has changed dramatically over the last few years. Gone from good to bad to worse. Unfriendly waitresses, soggy, overcooked spaghetti for £18, and a salat I wouldn’t dare giving to my hamster was the upshot of my last visit. It will remain my very last visit. The manager did his best but not even he could save the evening. The restaurant is a poor shadow of its former glory. It’s a shame what greed can do…

We were warmly welcomed and served by Joana P. Excellent service although it was clearly busy, the food was fresh & delicious. Joana had a smile on her face the whole time, very friendly & made our visit a memorable one. Looking forward to coming again soon.

First impressions were good. Lovely and clean, met with a warm welcome but sadly it went down hill after this. Service was very slow. Drinks not like any other prezzo we’ve been to.. I ordered a peach Bellini, the Prosecco was completely flat and all the peach syrup just sat at the bottom. Food arrived very quickly however the spaghetti bolognese was bland and I wasn’t offered any Parmesan. Our food was taken away very quickly and my husband hadn’t finished his meal. We sat waiting for someone to come along and ask us if we would like dessert or a bill but nothing. The waiter who served us then sat down along with the chef, manager and someone who had come in from outside and they all ate a meal together so I had to get up to ask someone for the bill. Overall this has been my worst experience in a prezzo and would not return. We go to prezzo very often but this has put me and my family off going to one again.

Woh, and Italian restaurant without any tomatoes. That was the excuse for not being able to serve bruschetta. Staff were ok, not too busy but only 2 waitresses and a barman on the floor. Food was fine but my wife's pasta was hot in the middle and warm in the edges. Sadly this branch seems to be on a downhill slope.

Great service, really friendly and attentive. A misunderstanding with a starter resolved in lightning speed. Food was mostly lovely apart from a rather disappointing Devon crab spaghetti, which I found very bland. (A dose of chilli oil did the trick...). I'm not a chef but I'd say a tomato based sauce would work better? Everything else perfect. Only other thing to mention is that it's a bit noisy, probably the ceiling design...

First I want to say what a great front of house team. I ordered a chicken ceaser salad. The chef needs a cooking lesson. A ceaser salad is not cucumber and lettuce. No croutons, no Parmesan , no anchovies hardly any ceaser sauce. Very very poor! It’s such a simple dish but yours was truly below average. All other mains were ok

The young man who greeted us at the door and served us was friendly and really attentive. That was the only positive. The food has really deteriorated. There were a tiny blob of caramelised onions on the ‘Carmelised onion garlic bread’, The calzone was nearly flat due to the lack of ‘meat filling’. The pizza described on the menu as - ‘roasted aubergine, creamy Burrata and sun-blushed tomatoes, finished with plenty of pine nuts and fresh basil’ arrived without any pine nuts or basil. The waiter sent it back and it arrived with 4 basil leaves and a scattering of raw pine. Really overpriced. poor quality food.

This is a mid-range restaurant. The food quality is good, as is the quantitiy. The service was a tad stretched this time, with all customers being hearded to one side, which spoiled the atmosphere a tad. It is a bit expensive - 2 hamburgers with chips, and 2 teas, came to over £40.

Sadly their heating was out of order, but they had electric fires dotted around. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere. The service was excellent, as was the quality and quantity of the food. It was a tad expensive, but you get what you pay for.

We stopped off for dinner after Christmas shopping it was extremely busy but we were served in no time at all, our Calzone was lovely we had a great meal followed by a lovely dessert and the atmosphere and service was brilliant we could not fault a thing.

100% staff are always super friendly and welcoming, food is aways hot and delicious, we seem to have same staff every time, place is very clean.

I would never pay full price to go to prezzo, the food is so over priced for what it is. The pumpkin ravioli came out iced in the middle. Totally unacceptable, clearly the chefs have no pride in their work. Every single time I've visited a prezzo it is dissapointing in one way or the other.

Non-existent service, after waiting over 30 minutes at our table with absolutely no interaction from staff, we left. I spoke to the manager as we left to explain that it’s not acceptable to be left waiting without so much as a simple drinks order being taken and she couldn’t have cared less, her attitude was appalling. The staff have no idea which tables have been waiting the longest, it’s just chaos and the manager is failing her team by not being more hands on. The restaurant itself is noisy, the acoustics are poor and it’s not helped by parents who think there’s nothing wrong with their offspring using mobile devices to watch videos at full volume, on repeat. It’s horrendous! This particular Prezzo is surrounded by lots of restaurants where the service is much, much better. We won’t return to this particular Prezzo again!

WHAT A JOKE - don’t bother Arrived here for lunch. Got seated and then no one came over for 25 minutes. I then asked someone and said do we order via an app or do you come over to us. She said we come over. I the said well we aren’t waiting any longer would have been nice for someone to come and at least take a drink order. You had 5 members of staff in there and 3 tables so wasn’t exactly busy! Most of the staff were standing around! I then sent a complaint and it’s been 2 weeks and still no one has responded! DONT BOTHER. RIDICULOUS

We had been looking forward to a great night out and wanted a nice family birthday meal! This is possibly the worst restaurant I have ever been to! we asked to eat outside and enjoy the evening we were then informed half the menu was unavailable straight away including salad at 7.30 pm ???, we started eating what was available and then the Kitchen staff decided it was ok to sit ten feet away smoking, followed by the kitchen staff from a neighbouring restaurant who sparked up his cannabis joint !!!! we were then informed by the staff they close at 8.30pm, what a joke this place is !!!!!!!! do not waste your money or time on this place !

I've heard mainly good things about this "Italian " chain. Very boring limited menu, chicken burger definitely not Italian. Over priced and adequate service. Won't bother again.

My friend and I popped in for some dinner pre booked before the cinema. We had an hour and a half to eat so plenty of time or so we thought. Took ages to take our order for a drink. We must of sat 20 mins before asking but the drinks did then come quickly. We ordered our food both starters and mains and the starter was literally pitta bread and hummus which took ages to come. We then waited and waited and waited for mains. It got to 10 mins before our hour and a half cut off before we had to leave for the cinema and our food still wasn’t prepared and we were never offered any more drinks since come in. Eventually starving we had to cancel our dinner. They proceeded to bring the bill over for what we owed and I said I wasn’t happy as we are leaving hungry with no dinner and you’ve not even given us something off the bill and she replied with screwing up the bill and saying no payment. That’s great but no sorry and had I of not challenged it when she come over with bill and machine we would have paid that with no sorry or discount. Sad as previous experience in different branches have been good however I won’t be back in a hurry. Not enough staff on and not enough kitchen staff to cope with orders. Sort it out prezzo.

Drinks and food came out very quickly with amazing service from Paulina. She was very attentive and very polite and helpful. Food was great and possibly my favourite Prezzo experience yet! Thanks Paulina for the great service:)

Tiny portions, massively overpriced. Pasta maincourse had 5 small pieces in a bit of sauce, no side salad. Prezzo used to be decent value and portions, came away very hungry, will not return

Food was lovely but service from what we assume is the manager was awful. My friend wanted a starter for a main and we asked the manager if we can still have this on the tastecard as a main and she said yes. When it came to paying the bill she went back on this and said we couldn’t have the tastecard offer. If she had told us this at the beginning we would’ve just ordered a main. Complete computer says no moment. She could’ve admitted she was in the wrong and removed the dish from our bill but she didn’t. Instead she made us feel stupid saying that we misunderstood her and that we don’t ‘understand’ the offer. Yes we do, that’s why we checked with her at the beginning. We agreed to pay in the end because we had to be somewhere. What happened to the customer is always right? Awful and rude service especially for a birthday meal. Do not make promises you can’t keep in the future. Won’t be returning.

Generally pretty good although a couple of errors impacted us a little (spilled drink and overdone starter of arancini), but Ok in terms of range of foods Seems the menu has changed since last attended and do not think it is for the better as range of options seemed less than normal. Calzone was pretty good though; drinks always a little over prices would have hoped to have been offered even a free drink, or something off the bill, after mistakenly having drink spilled, but otherwise generally OK

We came for a evening meal after Christmas shopping, the restaurant looked lovely it was all Christmassy and pretty. Our meal was lovely we both had Calzone and fries and a dessert. The service was perfect our waitress was lovely unfortunately we did not get her name, but nothing was too much trouble.

Food quality is poor particulary given price. Significantly declined since when wen we've been the past. Hummus starter tasted exclusively of lemon and ragu beef arancini balls tasteless. A pork and fenell ragu main was heavily overspiced. My wife ordered a cheese topped aubergine bake as a main. We were eventually told they had run out of the cheese and replaced it with a dollop of cold mascarpone. Didn't really matter as the dish arrived cold anyway after a long wait. We sent it back and shared the other main as didn't have time to wait as going to cinema. Won't be returning.

Very noisy restraunt not sure what they've done but can barely even talk to people your with. Very expensive food, had the burrata burger with chicken, priced at almost £18. The chicken was dry and there was hardly any burrata. I don't think I'll bother in future, food is not up to scratch for those prices.

Visited with friends for their birthdays, table booked. When we arrived the tables were so close together that the staff could not walk past without knocking my friends cardigan on the floor every time they went past. When staff were cleaning the table next to us they actually sprayed my arm and food with the cleaning spray!The noise was not of a bustling busy restaurant but so loud on a table of 4 you could not hear the conversation on your own table. Yes it was busy but the food order was incorrect maybe because the noise level was so high we had to point at the menu to help. My friends chips were stone cold and had to be sent back, staff begrudgingly did bring some more. Two of my friends ordered the same thing but one came out totally different, when she spoke to staff she was argued with. The pizza then came back from the kitchen cut in half. We weren't given the other half but charged full price plus for additional toppings! Drinks order was very slow with staff not happy about providing tap water (we did also have alcoholic drinks and soft drinks). My salad was very standard and definitely not worth the hefty price tag, brown lettuce and dry chicken bits. Toilets very dirt the plunger was in the sink so I went to the next one non toilet roll when to the next it locked for staff only. When it came to look at the bill we tried to explain to the ignorant and rude manager on duty what had happened, she was shouting at is that other customers were commenting about her attitude. It took at least 20 minutes to get the extra toppings removed from the bill to be honest we gave up trying to explain that we didn't get what we ordered. If the attitude had be different we would have put it down to experience and left. Shouting at customers, poor food, packed like sardines even with a voucher don't bother go to pizza express.

Booked a table for a small birthday meal. Ordered a pizza , I asked was this a small pizza and the woman said yes. When it arrived it was massive and not what my friend had. I explained I wanted the same as my friend but got the massive pizza instead . I was asked if I wanted it changed and I said yes but when it came back all I got was basically half of my original pizza and was nearly cold. When we got the bill I was charged not only for a large pizza but also extra toppings .We called the Manager over who was quite rude . The manager did say that we should not of been charged for the toppings and would take that off the bill but she just wasent getting what we were saying regarding my pizza..This is the second Prezzo I have been to where the Manager is rude, staff are not helpfully and if your not careful will slip on their shiny polished floors.Would rather go to Pizza Hut .

Took my granddaughter for a half term treat and I've never been so disappointed. We arrived at 11.25 and we weren't sure if they were open as there was a lady mopping the floors. The waitress said they were open and showed us to our table.Sadly our starters took 40 minutes to arrive....by which time the restaurant was packed ( the whole reason we arrived early was to avoid this ) From there on we knew it was only going to get worse and it did.Over an hour wait for the main course and another 30 minutes for desert.Surely if they know it's going to busy put on extra staff or restrict the amount of customers.The food was pretty average and nothing like he standard I get at my local Prezzo in Haverhill. Sadly very disappointing and wont be rushing back in a hurry :(

The table may have been central, but we feel it was a spare to fill up with numbers at the restaurant, it was not in character with the restaurant and wobbled, not from the usual base but from the top. The waitress offered to stuff paper on the base, but that was not going to make any difference. Not sure about this, the bill was reduced, but I’m now unsure it would make me feel happy to return. When you pay 100. Pounds you ask yourself would I do this again, would I recommend a friend. Who knows.. not impressed.

Regularly meet my friend for a meal here. Always nice atmosphere & food pretty good with buzzy atmosphere. Would be nice if they would just turn the music down as too loud when chatting.

All the toilets bar one were not usable and the one you could use had no seat (not good for the ladies) we waited ages for our food and we seemed to be left for ages ! service was not the best , before we got our food one of the staff was sat next to the bar having what looked like her evening meal . when we finished the meal which was a voucher xmas present they still tried to charge us £49 ? even though we handed in the voucher at the time we ordered our food

Extremely busy day at prezzo but helpful waitress found us a table. Quick to take order but long wait for food, understandably staff were flat out. We had set meal two courses for I think under £10 (can’t remember) pizza was huge we took half home. A good meal for the price.

Great food, quick service and great staff. Reduce the price of meal by using Tesco vouchers, but the food here is always very good and decent range of drinks also. Staff are always very good -attentive and very helpful, and accredit to prezzo and the management

I have eaten in prezzo countless time all over the country and this was by far the worst i have ever had.We ordered at 13.30 and received the cold food at 14.45 with one dish missing ,that i could see sitting on the counter, when i finally managed to speak to the waiting staff i ask if we could have my sister in laws food that had been sitting on the counter for 5 minutes, eventually it was brought over . I understand that it was busy ! Being a chef, but this sucked! The waiter came over after we were half way through our stone cold pizza and asked if everything was ok to the reply of the whole table NO he looked at us and said OH good.What more do i need to say avoid this restaurant at all cost maybe go next door to 5 guys for some hot food that will not take well over an hour !

Great service and fantastic food at a reasonable price. Large choice of dishes. Not rushed at all and no long waits between courses. Would highly recommend.

For a big restaurant,the service here was very quick.We were seated as soon as we walked in and didn't have to wait long before a very pleasant waitress came and took our order.The drinks arrived first and shortly after the food was there,nice and hot and was very nicely cooked.This is a very busy place with a good atmosphere.There was four people in our group and we all agreed it was a nice meal and good service and clean.

We visit Freeport at Braintree rarely but when we do we always like to eat at Prezzo.

We are here on Saturday 3rd August, in the evening, after shopping and on our way to Stansted airport.

Prezzo is the restaurant I eat at most often but on this occasion it wasn't that great. I had the gluten free pizza and the base was so tough I struggled to chew it and was unable to cut it so had to just pull it apart and try to chew my way through it. Shame as Prezzo are normally very good. Just unlucky on this occasion.

Went to Prezzo for a pizza treat for my little boy... we sat outside as it was a nice day and everything seemed fine. The waitresses were nice and attentive and the food was good. We even got a 20% discount by googleing a voucher code. They also have the option of serviing high quality lemonades, orangeades and raspberryades - as opposed to the cheap artificial rubbish you get in most places. The only thing I have yet to find is a pizza that look like it's worth the price these places charge.. They're wafer thin with not much topping, although very well presented.. Don't get me wrong, the kids loved it - maybe I'm just expecting too much in my old age.

Visited Prezzo for dinner before a film. As always with Prezzo the food and service was excellent. It was a busy early evening on Saturday but you would not have known this with the service friendly, fast and tasty! This restaurant is made even better for accepting Tesco vouchers.

As the weather has been so hot, we decided not to cook at home and went to Prezzos for a meal. Got there about 9pm, seated straight away. Lots of people seated outside, but we sat inside in the lovely cool air-conditioned restaurant.

I always enjoy eating at Prezzos as it is so relaxing.

We have not been in a Prezzo for some time and decided whilst visiting Freeport to shop we would give it a go. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the food, ambience, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. We would recommend this particular restaurant to anyone.
