I loved the restaurant, JJ was a good staff

2 for 1 Wednesday for our 1st meet anniversary! Excellently cooked meats with a lovely array of accompaniments. JJ our server was polite, soft spoken and very professional. We'll definitely be back!

Good tasty meat which kept on coming out until you were full. No scrimping on portions. Buffet had a good selection. Staff very pleasant and kind.

The food was absolutely delicious and the salad buffet is out of this world, the meat just keeps on coming. And the service was outstanding.

Always a nice experience, food is good and if you can eat a lot, you can make the most of it for the money.

PRICEY! Used to very good but they increased their price so much (£29pp for dinner) and nothing special has been added to their service/menu. The food quality has also changed- not the same quality anymore. So, it became a no-go place for us as we have so much better/cheaper options in Colchester/region.

Booked a table here for 5 and when we arrived we were put upstairs where it was freezing cold and looked like it was more storage than a restaurant. Terrible attitude from staff when we expressed our concern only to be told we’ll move you down later?! We walked out past lots of tables that were free! Avoid this place u til they learn how to Deal with customers and beware you might be put upstairs in the storage area! Shocking

Beautiful fresh food, especially the perfectly grilled meats, and the salads. Friendly and attentive staff. Good value, great location.

The food is very good, I admit, but the quality of the takeaway service seems to be a roller coaster. I have ordered takeaway services many times, but none of them is as exaggerated as this time. The amount of meat in each serving is pitiful. Do you discriminate against me or do you usually do the same? So lucky.

It's unfortunately just not as good as it used to be. Attended recently and majority of offerings were steak, now I love steak but during an almost 2 hour seating we were offered chicken twice and gammon only 5 minutes before we left which I had to decline as I was too full by then, likewise something I like is the garlic bread which wasn't offered at all. A little more variety would go a long way.

The food presented was only two varieties, when it is supposed to be wider variety; for a price of £16, it is definitely a rubbery. Requested for the food to be well done, it was served with blood oozing from the meat down to the plate. It is totally disappointing.

First time at Preto. Great selection of meats!

Great selection of sides, salads etc so something for everyone. We went on father's day and whilst it wasn't full they came round time and time again, some great cuts of meat on offer. The only downside I'd say was that our son is a bit of a fussy eater so would of been great to have the chicken thighs boneless as it was really the only thing he'd eat but apart from that minor it was great, definitely going again!

One of the best places to eat in Colchester by far! Amazing food all cooked to perfection. Both the waiting staff and chefs did an amazing job. The chef that served me I believe his name was victor told me he also cooks the food fresh and he deserves a lot of credit please give this place a try you will not regret it

I tried to book twice (Friday and Monday), but told both times they were closing early (9pm). Your own website states you close at 10pm, maybe it's worth updating it...or stay open until 10pm?

Really friendly staff, cooked meats especially for us. The meats and hit and miss, some delicious, some middling, but overall very good. The atmosphere was very quiet, but we did visit in the middle of the afternoon.

The food was excellent, as it always is in any Preto we visit. The meat carvers were chatty and pleasant, and our waiter, Gavrie, was lovely. He was very attentive and patient, taking time to explain how the restaurant worked (though we have been to Rodizios before). It was apparently his first day, and we were very impressed with him :). Would highly recommend fresh papaya juice! And the honey pork was a massive hit with our family! Thank you for a lovely meal

Food is great. Really tasty meat and a great selection of side dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks are a little pricey and I was a bit disappointed with the Caipirinha. But overall I had a great meal.

I ordered delivery and the food came out HORRIBLE, I couldn't even eat it, the picanha was impossible to chew because it was so hard. Really impossible!

They accommodated a table of 9 of us easily, made accommodations for us and even let us split the bill. JJ our waiter was incredibly patient and gave us fantastic service.

The food and service is very good, however it's incredibly expensive for what you get! The kids enjoyed the meat buffet so that's another plus. Overall very good!

My experience at preto colchester was amazing with the beautiful ladies Amanda and Lethicia that gave me a good service , and the lovely amazing boy Rui , very friendly and handsome , steak very well cooked and he treated us very well.

Great place for a leisurely lunch, good choice of salads, pasta, rice and breads. But the star is the bbq meats, all cooked to perfection and arriving at your table for your enjoyment. So difficult to pick a standout but the beef ribs were unbelievable. Cannot fault the friendly staff and warm welcome

Invited my sister with her husband and little nephew to eat, first time and we were impressed, not only with food and price but specially with their staff, a nice gentleman served us plus a lovely lady and the lady manager were so polite nice and amazing. Their computer were damaged!! some internet issue but that didn't affect us at all, we paid by card and when we gave cash tip to server he gave it to her manager. 5 stars

Very dissatisfying, i have been to the Chelmsford preto previously and it was amazing so I decided to take my 2 friends to show them how good it was at Colchester as the Chelmsford one had closed down. Tables were very much squashed together Salad bar was dry and selection was terrible Meat was barley brought out and when it was the wasn’t enough to feed our table of 3 None of the good meat advertised was brought out When asked how our meal was at the end we told the miserable waitress we was dissatisfied and she did not apologise rather she argued that the salad was fresh and nothing wrong with it and had nothing to say about the poor meat offered Meat was fatty so much so it got stuck in my throat and I was in a&e until 8am the following morning I’ve only just got home from a terrible night from this and now writing this review, If you think I’m exaggerating walk in the premises and just take a look at the salad bar yourself This whole experience was so bad we told them at the till we was not willing to pay for any of the food atall after she was rude to us. I have only ever done this once before in my whole life and I eat out a lot with friends.

The staff stopped at nothing to help & really made it one of the most delicious and memorable meals for myself and my partner 💍 10/10 recommend

It was our first time here for my husbands birthday. We had booked a table and in special comments put it was his birthday, you can also upload a photo so they can greet you on arrival, this wasn't acknowledged in anyway, so don't bother with this.That aside, the service itself was great, so we didn't mind paying the service charge put on our bill. The food was served hot and plentiful. We loved the cold buffet variety, I am fussy and found lots to eat. The fresh lemonade was soo refreshing and now a favourite all round. We will be back to enjoy again!

It was our 24th wedding anniversary and our first ever visit to Pretos. We was sat upstairs towards the back out the way from everyone else. Meat was lovely but didn't know we could use the downstairs buffet more than once. Things were not explained to us and after paying we were given the receipt that has a 12.5% service charge on it. Very disappointed as I feel it could of been so much better if everything had of been explained to us.

Happy place quick service and lovely food.
