Bannatyne Health Club & Spa Kingsford Park in Colchester

Firstly, I just want to say that everything except for the massage was great. Location, staff, facilities and food are amazing. But the massage was awful. We booked a couples full body massage and the experience I had compared to my girlfriend were vastly different. She got a full body massage where the lovely lady asked her about firmness, action areas and was relaxed. I got stroked, tapped and 10 minutes of playing with my hair (we checked, this isn't part of the massage). This is the first time a massage dragged for me. The masseuse seemed to not want to be there, took little to no pride and more importantly didn't let me relax. Every 15 minutes she'd ask a question in a loud voice. For example asking when I was booked in for, halfway through tacking me out of the little relaxation I felt. Icing on the cake was that I could see everyone else who left was guided back with a water to rehydrate. I was abandoned, kicked out the room to fend for myself and wasn't offered any water. My girlfriend loved it, I got stroked, poked and came out feeling stiffer... We did complain and to the credit of the lovely lady on reception she took down notes and agreed that it wasn't what I had paid for. Hopefully we hear from them and we can get a resolution. Issue is after this, I was in a pretty bad mood as we paid good money for 2 massages and 1 was shocking. My advice, go else wear just to ensure you don't get one person.

I had a lovely day at bannatyne I felt so realaxed when I got home the receptionist s at the spa area were so lovely tracey robyn and the lovely lady that did my facial we all had a laugh and staff all so happy and helped me alot carrying stuff for me the day was lovely and so was the weather we had lunch outside I'm a regular customer there the grounds are so lovely see you all next time it's nice having pamper days what I've been through

We regularly go to Kingsford Park to swim & use the hydro pool & the saunas, we’ve made some fabulous friends there, especially Tessa on the front desk who always greets us with a cheerful smile and a chat. It’s been our go to place of an evening to wind down & chill out since we joined 3 years ago, we love it 🥰

Pure relaxation, not overcrowded and lovely facilities

Not my first spa day at Bannatyne, and again, was not disappointed. Beautiful spa facilities (only downside was people taking their mobiles in and trying to take selfies in the pool area and changing rooms), Beautiful lunch, and a wonderful back, neck and shoulder massage by Olena, who honestly gave a memorable massage.

I moved to this club approx 6 months ago and I have found what a great team at Kingsford Park, Danielle. Colleen and Michele always smiling and welcoming. James, Emma and Patrick with energy, excellent instructions giving great lead for core, hiit snd strong classes and Kate and Emily taking pump and attack the get you moving, singing, dancing and feeling strong.I look forward to each class and feel great.

I am a member at Bannatyne Kingsford park and it's such a lovely club. I have been having personal training sessions with Patrick for & months now and he is the best PT! Pat is easy to talk to and is always super friendly. Pat always ensures that I feel comfortable with any exercise that I am doing and caters for everyone's individual needs. Pat is super understanding and will always allow me to take my own time and offer support if I'm feeling anxious. Pat has been super supportive throughout my whole fitness journey whether this be in the gym exercising or help with nutrition. Big thanks Pat !!! Beth :)

I attend the gym and classes would like to thank Patrick and Emma for their classes they are always excellent and are helping me in my fitness journey.

I have been a member for a long time . Last September I decided that I needed to make a change . I have had 2 knee replacements . I had started going to Aqua classes led by James Thompson so I booked a smart pass induction . Since September James encouraged me to go to B strong classes and I started Pt sessions with James . James has made me feel that anything is possible . He gets me "out of my comfort zone ". I have now lost over 4 stone in weight I am so much fitter,stonger and healthier . I have improved mobility ,muscle tone and wellbeing . Thankyou James i am really grateful to you and the fitness team .

Overall a nice Spa day with my daughter. Lots of positives but a few niggles.. Our therapists Aidee and Kareema were happy to change the type of massage we wanted/needed and altered the pressure throughout to suit our needs. They were polite introducing themselves and welcomed us with smiles. We were told we were in a double shared room though, even though I had not asked for this? It wasn't a big deal as I was with my daughter, (even though they didn't know this) I wouldn't have accepted it if I had been with a friend and I do think a double room should be used for those who request it, ( couples maybe? ) I was a little worried that my therapist was a bit poorly too, or going down with a cold? She was sniffing and coughing a little throughout my treatment, not something you want to hear in a confined space when someone is massaging you, however it could have been the cold air as my other criticism would be that the waiting room and treatment room was too cold. A member of staff came in the waiting room after us ( we arrived in the waiting room at 9.50am, as asked, ready for our 10 am treatments) and she was busy putting out candles and preparing the waiting room with the relaxing lights etc, I feel this should have already been done. Once in the treatment room I found laying on the bed it was hard to relax during the first half of my massage as I was just too cold and when you are cold it makes you tense, my feet were very cold as were my arms and hands. So please ensure the rooms are warmed for your first bookings of the day :) Also we were called in 5 minutes later than our 10am slot, then by the time you talk with the therapist, then they leave to let you get undressed you are well into 15 minutes of your treatment time, such a shame as it's the main part of a spa day where you relax and it's not a cheap day (£198 I paid for this day) The second half of my treatment I warmed up a bit as the towels were covering me as I needed to lay on my back and a nice heated eye mask was welcomed :) Overall a lovely massage but I felt it was not quite finished/time wasn't full? Lunch was very good, service was quick, food fresh and hot. Good atmosphere. Pool area and relaxation rooms were good. I was a little put off that a water aerobics class started in the afternoon with very loud music while we were relaxing around the poolside with our books. However we had the option to go to one of the other relaxation rooms if we wanted to. I'm aware that classes run as it's leisure facility too and can't be cancelled because people are having a spa day. Not sure I would return paying nearly £200 though . Thank you :)

It is always a pleasure visiting Bannatyne Kingsford Park. The staff are always warm, friendly, and efficient. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and food and drink options are varied and delicious. If the weather is good, there's plenty of outdoor seating with a lovely countryside view.

Booked my partner in with Kareema and the service was fast & efficient. She was helpful with guiding me to the right place and my partner said she was polite & ever so friendly. Best treatment she’s ever received and she highly recommended Kareema for her massage treatment. 5 stars :))

The therapist Karema was fantastic, made the atmosphere very comfortable, easy to talk to and did a fantastic job on my nails. Would definitely use her again and recommend her to everyone!

My favourite spa to visit had the most relaxing facial arm and foot massage with Pamela on Monday 7th April that left me feeling like a new woman

Fantastic day, brilliant service and hands down one of the best spas I’ve visited. From the start to the finish. The treatments we had were fab and the food was to die for! Highly recommend the steak salad! Every individual staff member that we came across throughout the day was friendly, welcoming and polite! From the waiter, to the reception girls, everyone was so nice making the whole day and experience one to remember. Already looking at returning soon!

Today myself and my wife visited for the frst time. We had a 30min treatment included with our stay... Wow what can we say! The whole experience was so enjoyable, Having never had treatments before, so wasn't sure what to expect? My daughter treated me to a visit here for Mother’s Day and I’ve been back a few times since – it’s absolutely brilliant! I had a Himalayan massage with Aqdee and she was truly amazing – one of the best treatments I’ve ever had. The facilities are just as impressive, from the saunas and steam rooms to the outdoor seating area, ice water bath, outdoor sauna and comfy lounges. The only thing missing is an outdoor pool for those hot summer days – then it would be perfect!.😍

Lovely spa! Have visited several times for a spa day with my friend, have always had lovely experiences and staff have been friendly and helpful. I have had both massages and facial treatments there and on all occasions experience has been relaxing and products used have been lovely and gentle on the skin.

We regularly visit Bannatyne Colchester for spa days, and usually have a treatment too. The treatments have been a little hit and miss prior, but today we’re absolutely amazing. Elle told us she was a trainee masseuse, but my mum said it was the best massage she has ever had! Elle was very thorough and got all of the knots out of mums back. Alisha provided me with a facial and shoulder massage. Alisha had a lovely personality, VERY bubbly and a breath of fresh air to talk to - not to mention she was very thorough with my facial and really talked me through step by step how I can recreate with the products. Great spa day. Relaxing atmosphere and lovely food for lunch. The treatment I had with Aidee was amazing. She was very professional and makes you feel so relaxed.

The entire spa was cold. The changing rooms were terrible with one toilet and a disabled toilet that had a tonne of water sitting on the floor. The bar area was cold and I complained with no radiators on. The restaurant areas were cold too. The only good thing was the food. The spa is very run down and is desperate for a revamp. Certainly not worth the money. The massage was good but my feet were freezing and the beautician said the heating had been off all weekend. No electric blankets!

Fantastic fitness team. They are so helpful when getting started and have been amazing at helping me recover from various health issues. I’ve had a plan tailored to help me recover from lung issues and try to keep the working bits of my lungs working and healthy. Can’t praise them enough

Great day at the spa with good food too!

My sister had a voucher for a couples day. We both had a mini massage and facial and I had the lovely kareema who made me feel utterly relaxed and tailored my treatments to exactly my preferences and needs. Was such a relaxing day and very much needed would definitely return for more treatments with the same girls!

Had a fa tasting day of pure rest, relaxation and pampering. Looking forward to coming back!

A great spa. There obviously have a gym, classes, beauty treatments; everything you'd expect. Where it really excels is the setting; the grounds here are beautiful so stopping for lunch is a must. Last but by no means least, the spa pool is probably the one of the best I've been in. Sauna, steam, Himalayan rooms, a jacuzzi and a nice large spa pool for general bubbles. Bloody chips are good n'all

My daughter and I had a lovely day with spa treatments use of the pool and a delicious lunch and together with the friendly professional staff it made for an enjoyable experience. However there were a few niggles. The treatment room was so cold that halfway through my daughter had to ask for another blanket. Although it was -4 outside the heating should have been able to cope. Also the receptionist told us that our treatments were from 10-00 till 11-15 we were finished and out of the room by 11-05 Although our lunch was lovely we later realised that the chicken salad had been served minus the tomatoes. As I said a few niggles but it won’t deter us from returning

Great price, products were of good quality. Lovely venue. Therepist who did my facial was very odd she keep pressing one of my shoulders back and asking what exercise I do then telling me I need to stretch more at the end she made personal comments about my appearance she told me to watch my posture and posture makes a face. Left feeling like I didn't quite measure up to her standard. Was then hurried out of the room by another lady. I got straight up and dressed after treatment and was just tying my hair back. Would not recommend or go again.

We arrived this morning for our spa day. Our treatments were held in a couples room which was a nice surprise. My partner had a back massage and a full body scrub which he loved. I had a back and scalp that was basically just her rubbing her hands up and down my back even though she had asked where I would like her to focus and I said neck and shoulders. She very lightly touched my scalp, no oil was offered for the scalp either. The sauna was not hot, the jacuzzi and hydra pool were luke warm at best. The only thing we enjoyed was the ice bath. Lunch was delicious, no fault there at all. But we left after lunch quite disappointed with the facilities

Im a long time member of the gym but have recently started to have facials for the first time. The Spa is lovely the products used are fab and my therapist Charlotte is amazing. I ask for her on repeat now as she is brilliant. News years resolution is ensuring I have one a month

Went for a spa visit today traveled for 4 hours from Wales for our best friends 40th birthday, arrived and our treatment was booked for 11.30 me and my sister were taken into a double room for our treatment (a massage ) laid down ready - started treatment my sisters therapist starts coughing and hacking "ok" carries on to the point I nearly say something! she then excuses herself to get a drink fair enough... treatment marred by this point ....she comes back the coughing continues..... we make a complaint were treated terribly by staff..... I go and re complain and they agree to give a mini facial after being told they didn't realise we wanted something off the back of it!! Like it was our fault! since have learned this same person treated my friend on a another occasion and fell asleep during her treatment and ruined her day terrible treatment! only person who seemed to care for customer was Tina , Fantastic member of staff disappointed in service offered by the rest

Had an amazing massage facial and scrub today with the wonderful Izzie. This Bannatyne’s in my opinion is one of the best. I can travel to either here or Fairfield hall on a similar time frame and hands down Colchester wins it for me everytime. Beautiful setting and staff who go out of their way to be more than just pleasant.

Recently signed up for a membership here and can't fault it! Amazing facilities with everything you need from gym equipment an classes with the best spa in town along with loads of choices of treatments. The outside ice cold plunge was the deal breaker for me as helps me with my recovery for the ultramarathon training.

Had a fireside Christmas spa day at Bannatyne Colchester today and had an amazing treatment from Aidee and my mum got treated by Julie who was brilliant too! Would recommend to anyone for a really relaxing spa day, all staff were friendly and facilities were clean

Third time going to this spa and love it so much. I went today with my mum for her birthday and we both had a treatment each. I had a back, scalp and foot massage and my mum had a facial, scalp and foot massage and we both loved it so much. The lady’s that did our massage where amazing (we didn’t catch there names sadly). We then enjoyed all the facilities and relaxed during the day and also tried some of the new facilities they added including the ice bath. Staff was amazing and so friendly. Then to top off an amazing day we had a beautiful afternoon tea in the stunning restaurant. Sandwiches were fresh and cakes was stunning. Today was completely faultless Thank you so much to all the staff for a memorable day and we 100% will be back for my birthday

Came here last week with a spa day with friends for my birthday. We booked it 2 months in advance and called to confirm we could all have our treatments at the same time. A few days before, I received an email that showed some people had treatments at a different time. I called to query this, but was told there was nothing that could be done to change it. When we arrived on the day, we were also told that other people had to go at a different time, so we were all split up. We were not informed at any point that the steam room was out of use, until we entered the spa area, which was obviously disappointing. After speaking with my friends about their treatments, some of whom had the same treatment booked, the massages themselves seemed to differ greatly. The masseuse I had did not ask what pressure I would like, she also did not ask to use any oil for the scalp massage, which my other friend was offered. We were also called through 10 minutes late to the treatment, and another 5 minutes of that was confirming our names and what treatments we were having. The massage seemed very disjointed and for multiple points throughout my masseuse was doing whatever else, there were so many wasted minutes of not actually receiving treatment even once it had commenced. I thought she had even left the room at one point. There was no room for any of us in the relaxation room, or around the pool area, as it was very clear that there seems to be no limit on the number of bookings they take for these spa days. Additionally, my friend who is pregnant, was told she was unable to use the pool. However, on the disclaimer form which we completed in the afternoon just before our treatment, only mentions for her not to use the sauna, jacuzzi and steam room, so she missed out unnecessarily. We ended up leaving early as it didn't live up to expectations unfortunately which is a shame

"Absolutely love it here! It's truly my safe space. Tim, Barry, Nic, Tess, Sophie and all the staff are always so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The restaurant and bar are fantastic, offering great food, beers, and wine. Just a couple of small observations that could make the experience even better: with the new sauna, perhaps there could be a way to control the heat more effectively. Also, securing the water bucket with CT1 glue would be practical since the heater is designed to be used with water and a ladle. Finally, the lockers might benefit from a quick refurb to freshen them up. These are just minor tweaks and certainly don’t take away from the amazing atmosphere and experience here. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to unwind and feel at home!"

Amazing experience, I bought the indulgent spa treatment and experience for my husband birthday and he absolutely loved it. From the treatments , relaxation room, indoor pool, indoor and outdoor sauna, steam room and food; everything was excellent. Facilities are clean and staff are helpful and friendly. We will come again.

I attended the spa yesterday (16/10/24) with my mum and sister and had a wonderful day. We booked the deal via wowcher for a spa and afternoon tea day. The spa facilities are lovely. The pool area and relaxation rooms made us feel so relaxed and staff on the front-desk were very welcoming. I had a massage by Aidee, which was a great experience and she was so lovely throughout my treatment so a big shout out to her. The whole experience would be a 5/5 but the afternoon tea sadly let this down, the sandwiches we're not of great quality so we didn't really enjoy our food and was hungry afterwards... everything else was amazing though and we had a great day!

Lovely informative facial and back massage by Elena, asked what pressure I would like and made me feel at ease, thank you Elena. Disappointed that towels have now been withdrawn for pool use. Staff on the whole, were very friendly and polite especially Mia in the restaurant.

Joined the health club about 6 weeks ago and it's exactly what I wanted. Friendly staff, good facilities, easy access and lots of classes and opportunities!

I attended as a birthday treat with my mother-in-law and we opted for body scrub and facial treatments. My technician Aidee had verbally confirmed this and checked through our medical history on entering the room. She then ran through what we could expect and directed us how to get ready. The treatments themselves were incredible. She was a very gentle and thorough. I had not had this treatment before and it is now my firm favourite. My only one crytisism is that for perfect zen experience- maybe the lotions can be pre-dispensed to illiminate the squelches of the lotions coming from the bottle. This is in no way a slur on Aidee's incredible skills. I will be returning very soon.

Great facilities. Enjoyed the new outside sauna & cold bath. 4 of us had booked the restaurant but for the 2nd time no other fizz other than Prosecco (wine list also showing at least four other wines, including champagne and English sparking) so we decided to eat & drink in town instead. Why are they on the menu when they’re clearly never in stock?

Had a lovely back, neck and shoulder massage as well as a facial with Kareema. She was lovely and made the experience very relaxing and enjoyable :)

Lots to access with the spa day, treatments were amazing and food good. Still some building work and drilling going on so not quite as peaceful as it could be. Also very crowded on a Saturday so beds around the pool impossible to get which would have been a problem if it was a colder day and we couldn’t sit outside.

Came for a Spa day including treatment. Had a himalayan hot stone full body massage. My therpaist Cristina was lovely. She talked through the treatment beforehand so I knew what to expect. The massage was incredible. I left feeling amazing. Lunch was also very good. Big portion sizes and the chips are the best I have ever had. Facilities were all clean and all staff seemed friendly. Perfect place for a mental reset

From the moment I was greeted by a lovely smiling Rachel my journey began, from our conversation and a lovely coffee. Then introduced to Cee Jay who would now look after me. From the moment Cee Jay placed her hands on my back, my mind, body & soul felt safe & relaxed for the rest of my treatment. I felt Amazing 💕 Rachel greeted me at reception with a lovely smile and asked if my treatment went well and was very pleased with my reply. I can say from the moment I stepped foot in the door until I stepped out again all staff were welcoming and thoughtful. Bannantynes will be on my guilty pleasure list. Thankyou x

Saturday 22nd June 24 - We came as a group of 10 ladies celebrating 4 ‘big birthdays’ and it was a truly memorable day. We were blessed with the weather which was a bonus but the organisation of our day began before we even arrived. A call from Tessa meant that our treatments were all streamlined and didn’t clash with an our lunch, on arrival we were met by smiley faced staff on reception who were very helpful! On to Rhea Jolly in the restaurant who organised the lunches by pre-ordering which meant that there was no waiting or confusion and we all ate together!! A special thank you to Rhea who managed to find a dietary fitting meal for my mum. Treatments arrived and we all had a wonderful experience - I would like to mention Pamela who was amazing!! The whole hour was relaxing, stress free and worth every penny!! I have been to Kingsford Park a number of times and have always been happy with my experience but in Saturday… You outdone yourselves!!! Thank you so much xx

I’ve been going here for years and have never had any issues. This time, the massage was very disappointing, someone walked in mid way through my treatment which made me feel extremely uncomfortable

Had a spa experience booked for my birthday, when arrived 10.15 was greeted with " we have had a power cut" . Told to sit in conservatory and wait (they said they would make a decision at 10.30) after a short while someone come round and offered us a complementary juice. By 11.00 still nothing so my friend asked the staff and was told wouldnt know until at least 12.30/1.00. We decided as we had already waited a bit of time on my birthday we wasnt going to waste anymore of my day. As my friend had driven up from Surrey especially and it was my birthday, we cannot rebook now till end of July. I feel there handling of the situation could of been better considering we got a phone call to say don't attend after we had already been and been left over an hour, so was past our 1st treatment time!!

Had a wonderful experience, staff are very friendly and helpful. Tessa on reception was really helpful. Food was great and treatment was lovely. Will be returning.

I went Saturday with two friends and we had the most wonderful day. Our treatments were fab and so relaxing. High Tea was delicious and swimming pool, jacuzzi etc were lovely. We will definitely go back.

Place is grotty, too many foreign staff without the appropriate skills necessary unfortunately. Now over subscribed and not the relaxing atmosphere one would expect. Shame really, was nice before the take over.

Great day out with a friend and place to relax. Good size pool, jacuzzi, steam, salt and sauna rooms. Changing rooms well equipped with many hot showers, decent lockers and hairdryers. Treatments on offer very good and nice ambience. Food is good with various options for vegetarians and vegans at reasonable prices. Has a lounge area where you can get snacks, coffee or drinks and just completing an outside area for the summer 24.

Polite staff. Good choice of food/drinks available.
