Pret a Manger in Gateshead

Great tea and coffee and snacks at sensible prices - this has become one of our favorite places min the metro cantre

We went back in February the staff are always pleasant and helpful. Love the salads which are wholesome good food fresh ingredients. Nice selection of drinks too. Also do a small selection of gluten free food and snacks.

We went straight to pret for our morning coffee, which was very good, and especially good value. The food looks good but we havent tried it yet.

We called in for a coffee and a sandwich.There is the usual full range of drinks, with a few over sweet specialities for Christmas. The sandwiches are of decent quality and have prices to match. I don't like the way that for example, it says such and such a sandwich is £3.99 in large print, then tell you further down, in much smaller print, that it is £4.79 if you eat in. I would much prefer the prices to be of equal size, with the eat in price first and the takeaway price next to it in brackets. The coffee shop is quite spacious inside and has comfortable seating.

I enjoy visiting Pret at the Metrocentre every week with my friend and her toddler. There is always an exciting choice of sandwiches and soups to choose from. It is reassuring to see the food being brought out after being freshly prepared as opposed to being in a plastic container all day. On more that one occasion we have been offered complimentary coffee or cakes. This week they provided a gingerbread man to the toddler !! This is a nice touch from staff who are always pleasant and happy to converse with customers. I look forward to my usual extra hot decaf latte!

We were with my sister on a Saturday shopping trip to the Metro Centre and called in here for cold drinks! My husband and sister sat outside in the mall and I went for the drinks! I wanted cans of diet coke plus glasses and the young girl who served me was particularly unhelpful! I paid for the cokes, was given no tray and no glasses - I asked for the glasses and was pointed towards the far side of the counter in a very abrupt fashion - what happened to being helpful towards elderly people? Would not go there again!

Very good tea and coffee and a nice clean airy environment. Staff were efficient and pleasant, and prices very competitive.

Love Pret, always sure of getting something good to eat. Vegan options are always great. The place is clean and normally ok to get a seat.

Visited during a spot of retail therapy and was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff and quick service. Plenty of seating inside and out. The sandwiches are very nice and the prices are better than Costa and Starbucks. Definately worth a visit.

Came here today for the first time and enjoyed a quick snack for lunch. There is a good choice of sandwiches, wraps and salads. Staff are helpful and there is plenty of seating. It was a nice touch to have a filtered tap at the end of the counter for you to get your own water.

Visited here today with my friend for coffee and just wanted to say a special Thankyou to Zoe who not only served us but also paid for our order as an act of kindeness ! What a lovely gesture, and def put a smile on our faces ! Thanks again .

I always use this coffee shop today they didn’t have the sandwich I wanted so I chose another n got it and my coffee on the house great custermer service businesses could learn a lot from this company I like they make there sandwiches in house fresh keep up the great work guys Thankyou

I often visit here at the weekends with my children and it is easily our go-to place to get a coffee and a bite to eat in the Metrocentre before we see a film. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, especially Sarah who it is always nice to see and remembers our drinks, and everyone else such as all the regular staff we see on our visits are always great. Special mention must go to Anna though, I think she is the new manager here but the place seems even nicer recently and even more friendly (for example she gives out colouring pages and crayons to our children). And the vegan dark chocolate and almond butter cookies are worth making a detour for, one of my favourite coffee shops in the area.

Well. Where to start. We often pop into Pret when at the metro centre. Today we popped in for lunch and had an absolutely fantastic experience. We were served by whom I guess was the manager, Anna. There were none of my kale macaroni cheese pastas ready to which she apologised for and said if we wanted to wait 10 minutes she would have some ready. In the mean time she gave us a free coffee each. By the time I had carried the kids food from the till to the table Anna had already brought over paper and colouring pencils for the kids. As soon as the pasta was ready she brought it over and made polite conversation. 10 minutes later she popped back over to make sure all was to our liking and as we prepared to clear our table to leave she appeared to take the tray of cups and plates from us. Honestly, good customer service goes such a long way. Anna was a model professional and is an absolute asset to Pret. Thank you. We will be back soon. 🙂

Me & my husband went for lunch today and were so impressed with the customer service. I believe it was a male manager who was very knowledgable and offered some guidance when selecting food. He later brought samples of their new sandwiches and was just generally very, very helpful. The food was also of an excellent standard and it will be our go to shop from now on when having lunch at the metro centre, thankyou

The coffee and sandwiches in Pret a Manger are very good, the bread is very fresh and has a good amount of filling. The coffee was as good, if not better, than any of the high street chains. It's worth a visit.

Nice little stop off after a bit of shopping. One of the best latte’s I’ve tasted, accompanied by a praline cookie = perfect little break.

Excellent service by a young lady called Zoe. Will definitely be leaving her a tip next time I go down to grab a coffee and a sandwich. Definitely a great asset to the Pret team! 100% the best of the team that are there

Just called for coffee (very good at £1) but the food is interesting different and looks very good. We'll try it for liunch soon.

Popped into Pret for brunch. Unfortunately, although seating was available the queue for food/drinks was overly long. Tables had also not been cleared so I’m assuming they were ‘rushed off their feet’ due to the festive season. One extra member of staff would definitely have been helpful.

2 lattes,a bakewell slice and a chocolate muffin cost nearly £8 ! Expensive but a nice treat. Latte was Devine!

A latte each and a chocolate chip cookie and a bakewell slice. Perfect pit stop to revive us after xmas shopping. Lad behind the counter was very friendly,discussing other drinks on the menu. Latte was very creamy and hot.

Popped in when shopping for a quick coffee. Ordered a latte and a cappuccino. Both look warm and looking and tasting the same.

My fourth or fifth visit in last few months. As always the food (a prepared salad in a box) has been tasty, well balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. The metro centre location is fine but the wobbly tables and layout are hopeless. You get your food, they don't give you a serviette, you than have to go to the back of the shop to get cutlery and look for bin existent serviettes. By that time someone else had taken the seat you were going to get. The slightly chubby guy with glasses who serves you at the counter with the emotion of the non existent ceiling tiles is the icing on the cake if you're after a positive staff experience.

Lots of coffee shops at the metro centre but this one stands out for excellent coffee and super friendly service.

First ever visit to this particular Pret. The service was excellent throughout, and the product was good. In particular the coffee is excellent, and the soup and sandwiches delicious. A good place to stop.

Today was our first time visiting a Pret a Manger and we were impressed. We had a flat white, a hot chocolate and shared a sandwich to keep us going. The drinks were very tasty. Liked the layout and decor of this place and enjoyed our visit. Thumbs up from us!

I love Pret A Manger and I have never been to one that has disappointed. Was in a rush today and needed to get some lunch to take out. I would always pass other eateries to buy food here, even if it is further to walk. Food great, service great.

Really good customer service by a down to earth guy behind the counter, had a laugh with my friend about where she was keeping her bank card.....ooooerrr missus!! Really friendly, very quick, ta very much

We always call in here when in the Metro Centre, My husband always needs a rest! The staff are so friendly, nothing is too much bother for them, the place is always clean and tables cleared, we usually go Saturday 11.30am ish so it is a busy time. The food is fresh, coffee tasty and staff exceptional. Well organised and on the ball. well done it makes such a lovely change these days and we will continue to use this café, have to say we have also been to the one at McArthur Glen Centre in York a couple of times and had the same excellent service.

Quite honestly I usually try and avoid the food chain cafes because it was very convenient for us at the time we gave it a try, glad we did. It is very clean and the staff are very pleasant with happy faces. Nice selection of food, too. I had a child's size ham sandwich which was just the right amount for me and it was so tasty. The pecan slices are delicious. Good range of drinks. No complaints from me.

Quite a nice cafe with interesting food. The cafe is quite large yet it has only one toilet for male, female and disabled. I have complained by email receiving a less than satisfactory response suggesting that they don't need any more toilets are some are available within the MetroCentre. In other words if the toilet is engaged go for a wander to find a toilet and then wander back. A poor excuse!

First of all i would like to say my praise to the manager of pret for hiring the most sophisticated employees i have ever had the privilege of encountering. The excellent knowledge of the 2 barista staff astounded me and gave me confidence in choosing the drink i was about to endulge in. I would like to show extra appreciation to the tall hench young man whose charming good lucks made my experience at pret better than ever before.

I eat at Pret a Manger at Metro every time I visit only because I enjoy the cheerful attitude of the staff at this fantastic restaurant and especially NEIL. No matter what he is doing (and he is always doing something) he smiles chats and sings and he is the reason myself and my family always frequent this restaurant. Take note Management I and my family all agree you have a brilliant employee who makes his customers feel really special and wanted and hopefully take no notice of these hurtful comments. There are plenty of other venues that you can have a quiet meal. Please dont stop Neil and the staff change - you may lose more customers.

I visited the metro branch of pret a manger for a coffee and a bite to eat with my business partner, we were served by a guy called Neil. Neil was loud over top singing to be honest the guys a prat. The manager needs a word to him if I wanted a clown I would go to macdonalds. If you want kids club go to pret, if you want peace while having a coffee avoid this place when this zoom is in.

i went into Pret A Manger Gateshead Metro Centre this afternoon ,i selected my childs sized sandwich a bag of crisps and a small cake and a tea,i was greeted by Neil saying " Hello Gorgous what can i get for you "he loves his job so much whether cleaning tables ,making Sandwiches ,serving or just asking at tables is every thing alright ,he makes every one who visits Pret A Manger feel special in fact we dont want to leave ,management you have a dia,mond member of Staff there that really should be up for promotion,all of your staff are pleasant and helpful with smiles on their faces..the food is very good and the prices are reasonable think i will be visiting again on Monday to be entertained by my favorite singing Neil xx

Neil is the singing Maestro in this eatery and he makes me and my families day with his wonderful welcome, cheery attitude and first rate smiley service every time we visit. The food on show is always wonderfully presented and as always with Pret A Mangers absolutely fresh as always being made that day and of course delicious. Take note senior management an absolute credit to your business. I have and will recommend this Pret A Manger establishment which Neil has made his own.

I arrived first thing in the morning before the shelves were fully stocked so I asked if they had any of my favourite salad ready (crayfish and avocado), and the manager said they didn't bit if I had a few minutes they would make one up and bring it over to me.
