Stayed here on a work trip this past week, the hotel is in a perfect position for a business customer. The only issue being the free Wifi did not work at all, not really the hotels fault more Virgin media who provide it. Alana (receptionist) did a fantastic job at sorting out upgraded wifi so I was able to complete work whilst staying and went above and beyond to deal with any issues I had in regards to it. Would happily stay again

I visited the Lower Lode Inn, for a meet-up with friends. I chose to arrive the day before and stay overnight. What a wonderful evening. The pub is dog friendly, very dog friendly and I met some lovely local doggies. For dinner I ate the ale and steak pie, perfect and the Doombar was also perfect. The room was small with a large double bed, but was perfect for my nights stay. I rarely sleep well when away from home, but the bed enveloped me and I slept all night. After a nice hot shower (toiletries and fluffy towels supplied) I made my way down to a full English breakfast. Perfect (again). I then went for a short walk, settling on a bench by the river Severn. I have the Merlin bird song app on my phone, and switched it on to see what bird life was about. In ten minutes It had picked up 19 different species. Wow! As the morning went on, friends started arriving, some I hadn’t seen for many years. The event was a surprise birthday Sunday lunch for my New Zealand friend. She had no idea and was overwhelmed. We then enjoyed the carvery which was excellent. The Lower Lode Inn was welcoming from the moment I arrived, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and already planning to return. Hopefully to include a bit of fishing next time. Thank you Lower Lode, to Sam and all the team for making myself and my friends so welcome.
