Went here as was staying in the Premier Inn next door. It was certainly a lot better than the usual Premier Inn restaurants that are normally dead. It is open to all and had quite a lively atmosphere at the bar end. The food was tasty, reasonable portions, average prices for these days. The service was good, unusual for full table service these days.

Awful, sums it up. Lady manager out front , looks at you then walks away. Young women, obviously little experience. And that is just getting a drink at the bar. Don’t bother if you want a relaxed drink. Big ques for food. Which we did not bother with.

Went in for lunch today with my mum. To be honest, staff are okay and the food tasted good. However, service was slow and the portion size for the chips, especially for the fish & chips dish, seemed really small. It felt like both our chips sides combined should’ve been one portion overall (see photo).

We were staying at the Premier Inn next to this place, so booked a table here after a long day of traveling. Place seemed somewhat busy but fantastic service by Kayleigh and the other staff, food and drink was perfect which everything came at a good pace and at good prices. Expectations certainly exceeded.

We got there at 10 am very disorganised at the start table was not ready waited ages for them to take the order they only had two staff waiting at the tables we waited over an hour for cooked breakfast that when they came out where cooled poached eggs over cooked large eggshells in the food. They had ran out of loads of the continental breakfast choc spread honey croissants being told that they hadn’t ordered enough staff told us that the manager hadn’t ordered enough items only one cook with no apology or explanation as to why this had happened also no bowls no cups no plates they all had to be washed coffee machine not working so waiting at this bar forever as there wasn’t enough staff on. Excess of tables full of plates cups etc not being cleared. The chef not willing to come out to speak regarding the eggshell apparently prepping for dinner. 1* isn’t adequate should be a zero rating.

Been coming to the Potters arms every now and then when I visit Church Langley and there have been quite a few changes to both the service and the menu over time The service used to be slow, one time we had to wait almost an hour for our meal to arrive and almost half an hour trying to get a waitress’ attention for the bill when we finished the meal, we would try and get their attention only to be ignored or responded with “Just give me a second” only a second turned into 30 minutes… Anyway that was all in the past, yesterday I was feeling hungry while visiting Church Langley so decided to give it another go, and wow the service has improved a lot since. Our server Olivia was friendly and very attentive, within minutes she was asking us if we were ready to order and what drinks we wanted we didn’t have to wait long. Also when we finished despite serving other tables in the area at the time she came over to clear our plate up and handed the bill quite quickly. I was very impressed with the service after our experience last time! Although I was a bit suprised that the menu had changed and the options was a lot less than when I last went when it was a whole booklet and pages of food to choose from, this visit it was just one page of food. I had the chicken katsu curry it was very nice. All in all a very good experience I would come again.

Popped in for a couple of pints after a long run with the local run club. Being a real ale drinker I searched out what was available. London pride had the sign turned around 180° which usually means not available!! So I ordered a pint of Doom Bar the only other choice. I sat down & had a few sips of it as you do, but immediately realised it wasn't right!! Raising the glass up to a bright light, I could see it was cloudy so took it back to the bar to be sorted. I ended up exchanging(with no fuss) for a Madri which was nice & smooth. What was disappointing for me was the fact when I went up for a second, & the bar person wouldn't get me my pint until I paid for it first! Telling me (a 68 year old pensioner) well you might not have the funds ( as I had moved the phone too fast on reader!) & it didn't go through!!

We arrived at 20:00, in our section we had 8 tables, including is 4 tables full (meaning 4 empty). We were asked whilst sitting down if we’d like to order drinks, we asked for a couple of moments to have a sit down and look at menu. After 15 minutes later someone came back to us, maybe a little too long considering it wasn’t full however it wasn’t a problem, so we didn’t raise it. We got our tasty starters in a fair time. Took a little bit too long for the mains to come in between starter and main but my my it was worth the wait! 3 pies and cute amount of mash under each of them. A good portion size, maybe if you want picky; I could have done with a tiny bit more gravy but as a whole 100%! My partner did have an issue with a product not being cooked to standard which was explained to the waitress and forwarded to the manager and was handle effectively and efficiently. Desserts were lovely, a sundae with caramel bites and a Black forest Crownie, both a good portion size and taste was class! Thank you for a really positive experience and this location is somewhere I will certainly be passing on my recommendations and will revisit again.

Decided to put some money in the fruit machine that can I add were all switched on and had a rude gentleman come up to me to say “gambling licence starts at 11” The waitress watched me put all the change in and didn’t say anything. This man just walked in and told me so I stated the fact that the other staff member didn’t say anything and he said “she only works breakfast” I won’t be returning as I think the approach to me could have been different maybe introducing yourself would have made a difference as to me you didn’t have any staff badge or anything on.

Disappointment at its very best!!! Breakfast, well I usually enjoy the premier inn all you can eat breakfast but this was a HUGE disappointment, no fresh coffee (ok there was instant but I don’t like instant!) 2 normal toasters that took ages to slightly brown anything, and when my food came out,… well it’s the first time I haven’t eaten every bit of a full English, it was cold, eggs were solid and rubbery- it had obviously been cooked then left on the side for a while before being brought out… that explains the age we had to wait for our breakfasts! As I just walked in, there was no space to eat in the restaurant so I sat in the bar and looked to eat but decided against it, all looked a bit tired and the memu all you expect from lower end dining. There are few gaming machines lighting up the area, and big screen TV. There is parking, shared with the hotel next door but remember to resister your car or a fine will come your way. There is plenty of outside seating. One I will be returning too soon

I'd heard mixed reviews, but wanted to find out for myself what the food was like, especially as it now has new management. Our waitress was very funny and drinks arrived promptly. I have a severe allergy, and the manager came over to make sure I'd read the disclaimer and that my food was suitable. All of the food was piping hot, and my steak and gammon was cooked perfectly. I'm looking forward to trying the Sunday roast, with a view to Christmas Dinner. The new team have really made a difference and the Cookhouse feels more family friendly. *UPDATE* Tried out the buffet roast dinner. Thought it was really nice. If you’re looking for good food and good service, look somewhere else, they seem to have misplaced both. Young lady behind the bar completely disinterested, other bar lady just irritated, drinks put straight into a puddle of some drink not mopped up, had to request a tray which, when provided was too small for the drinks purchased. Nachos made with pizza sauce, not salsa and topped with fresh coriander 🤢, chicken undercooked, sweetcorn in a green salad and when served, the ramekin of sauce was IN the salad. Coleslaw was watery and tasted horrible. Coffee was awful. Very understaffed for a Saturday afternoon with good weather. Absolutely ridiculous excuse for a disabled toilet.
