If one does not give 5 stars to them, he'll give it to none. Excellent food and friendly Staff. We had sardinhas fritas (perfect entry), francesinha do Porto and Bacalhau com Natas. Authentic Portuguese food, very well made, a piece of Portugal in the UK. Sagres pint was very fresh, great quality wine too. Hope you'll visit them and enjoy this amazing culinary, Portugal has one of the best in the world.

We booked this restaurant for a family members 92nd birthday & the restaurant went above and beyond to ensure he had the best birthday! The food was some of the best food I have ever tasted! Would highly recommend this lovely restaurant to anybody!

This place is nicely laid out, pretty, and our service was fast and friendly. There is a huge menu available here. We felt the food dishes were rather ordinary for the price.

A Gem in Solihull! Porto Douro is an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and treated to some of the best service we’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food and the experience they provide. The dishes were outstanding – full of flavour, beautifully presented, and the portion sizes were very generous. Every bite was a reminder of why this place is such a hidden treasure. Whether you’re new to Portuguese cuisine or already a fan, Porto Douro will exceed your expectations. Highly recommended – we’ll definitely be returning!

Really enjoyed our lunch hear. Never been before but we had heard the franceshina’s were really good and wanted to try them ourselves. We weren’t disappointed and the portion size was pretty substantial as well. The pastel de nata’s were also lovely as was the port. Service was year for else throughout so sure we’ll return sometime in future.

This is our first time and we will definitely be coming back. We had starters,main and desert and I can honestly say this was some of the best food I have ever. Our server for the night was Elena and she was absolutely amazing great attention to detail, lovely personality, such a vibrant character. A fabulous and authentic portuguese restaurant. Went there for dinner party of 4 with a child. My partner is portuguese so she had a lot of suggestions. However, I went with classic Frango peri-peri with rice, was told its busy so rice and chips not possible. In addition, we ordered peri peri chicken bites, calamari and meat croquettes, 1st one with blue cheese dip (surprisingly not repulsive!) And others with garlic aioli (legendary). They were truly authentic and delicious. We also ordered a main with oven baked octopus and roast potatoes and a portuguese rice-based chicken main dish. We all loved our mains which were big portions each enough for 2, we got takeaway boxes tho. Being Indian and crazy for the authentic peri-peri spice, Elena didn't hesitate to get me not one but two bowls of peri peri sauce for the chicken. The spice loving south Indian in me was enjoying like a kid eating icecream. Speaking of which hats off to Elena, she was amazing with us and the child, we truly appreciate your hospitality and warmth. I'd love to specially dedicate this paragraph to the kid-friendlyness of the restaurant, it's a rare quality yet very desired for families. They provide a set kids menu with various choices, portions are adult sized though. They also provide colours and a there's a maze, join the dots art and scrabble? and other stuff on the kids menu that your kid can decorate or be busy with, a wonderful thought to making the restaurant family friendly. 10/10 Complimentary port wine and Pastel de nata, love you guys for that. Port wine took me back to Goa (former portuguese-indian territory) and the pastry was so soft warm and delicious custard in multiple layers of pastry melting in the mouth... sorry I lost track of how to describe this marvel, simply said, you will love it. To summarize, I'm glad I got to avenge the sub-standard peri-peri I've eaten in N*ndos, you know what I'm on about.

Absolutely perfect restaurant- we have just enjoyed our first evening meal and can’t wait to go back. We had a warm welcome from the manager Waji who was on hand to answer our questions throughout the night. Our waitress Emma was friendly, helpful and attentive. The interior is smart and modern with a very relaxing atmosphere- helped by the wonderful live music that was playing the night we enjoyed our meal. For starters we had mussels, mushrooms on toast, croquettes and sardines. Our mains were a fish stew, slow roasted port and fresh fish. All the food was delicious, full of flavour and well presented. The drinks were great too, Portuguese larger in chilled glasses, sangria full of flavour and cocktails that had a wonderful taste. We also enjoyed complimentary Portuguese tarts and a shot of liquor. For the price we paid we all thought the restaurant offered an absolutely great experience.

My husband has already responded. We were very disappointed and , to be honest, a bit embarrassed after telling our friends of how wonderful it was when it first opened.

Definitely book ahead! We came on a Tuesday night and the place was busy so relieved we didn't just turn up hoping for a table. Had my eye on this place for a while so booked for my husband's birthday. For starters he had fish cakes whilst I went for the prawns & mushrooms on Portuguese bread. For mains, my husband opted for the seafood platter and there was so much, we took some home. I went for the Pescado com banana, which sounded intriguing as it was battered hake with banana and cheese but absolutely delicious. We were much too full to order dessert, which was disappointing as there were some interesting options. However we were brought a traditional custard tart with a small measure of port, which was the perfect way to end the meal.

Just popped in for a drink when walking past. Sat out the front, great atmosphere, other peoples food looked nice and service was good.

The atmosphere is really nice. Good portuguese wine and beer. The vegetarian rissois were a bit disappointed as I was hoping vegetables in them, but they had cheese and potatoe instead. Bacalhau a bras I give 4.5 stars as that is the closest I ate to my grandmother's one (nobody will beat hers sorry). My partner ate the stuffed peppers and liked. Natas were good. We recommend.

We went to Porto Douro in Solihull for Mother’s Day with a table for six and had a lovely time. This was our third visit and it was just as good as we remembered. The food was amazing. I had the lamb in red wine which was so tender and full of flavour. The piri piri chicken was also really tasty and well cooked. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. Our server Lily was brilliant. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being over the top. The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a family celebration. It’s a great spot for a special meal and we’ll definitely be coming back again.

The worst service ever. I just don't give zero because it is bot an option. I'll just say the server left without passing it to another server. And without telling us. Our toddler waited for 1h20 min for a simple spaghetti. By the time the food arrived my little one was already very frustred, which really upset any mother. This restaurant marked my monther's day as the worst experience. No words to explain how terrible it was.

Food was good and service was attentive, but unfortunately a bit too slow for food to arrive. So many tables to service, requiring a very to quick pace from the staff (fair play), but management possibly expected too much. We waited 30 minutes for dessert, but gave up in the end. The custard tarts though were unreal!!!

Lovely evening here,nice to have live music,in the form of two lovely singers! Food very good,and it was filling too! We had sardines and prawns for starters both excellent. Very traditional Portuguese,I had the hot pot,my partner the traditional layerd,egg,toast,sausage,steak,dish.As mains. Delicious chocolate mousse for dessert,was just enough.We also had a shit of complimentary port and Portuguese custard at the end of the meal,nice touch! Very pretty restaurant,pleasure to be in.The chefs can be seen working which is a nice feature. We will return.

Came here for lunch with my Grandparents the service was brilliant the food just as good!! Just filling enough portions were the perfect size me and my Nan had a seafood linguine they didn't scrimp on the seafood at all. They found out it was my grandads birthday and lit him a candle and sang happy birthday. And sent me home with these lovely custard tarts not asked for just offered out of kindness that i cannot remember the name of but are too die for!! Very good quality very affordable very friendly I highly recommend!!

It was definitely not created for the Portuguese but for the English, I don't judge them because after all we are in England. They lost the Portuguese essence, the old restaurant was 1000 times better. The food left something to be desired, the dishes also lost their Portuguese essence, just like the rest of the restaurant. Bitoque without egg? The meaning of bitoque is to have the egg on top of the meat. Rabbit stew with frozen carrots... PORTUGAL DESSERTS? None.. Chocolate sundae? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Biscuit cake with a twist without identity. (Not even a single house sweet...) The prices? To get away... MUSIC TOO LOUD, to the point where you can't have a conversation. I'm so sorry, Porto Douro used to be the best Portuguese restaurant in the West Midlands, now? Now it's just another one

Disappointing Experience at Porto Restaurant I visited Porto restaurant for the first time on 09/03/25, and unfortunately it was underwhelming. The starters were mediocre—the olives were clearly from a supermarket jar. However, the biggest disappointment was my son's meal: battered hake with banana. It was obviously frozen store-bought fish, badly prepared. The batter was overcooked, yet the fish inside was still cold, suggesting it had gone straight from the freezer into an overheated oven. To make matters worse a banana was placed on top of the charred fish batter with some kind of sauce drizzled over it. We sent it back and were given a rice dish with bits of fish instead which was essentially just a bowl of tomato rice with a few tiny fish pieces. The manager initially assured us we wouldn't be charged for the poorly prepared meal, yet when the bill arrived the charge was still there. When we pointed it out he casually responded, "Oh, sorry, I forgot." It’s not difficult to heat up frozen fish properly and not something you would expect in a restaurant. On a positive note the two waitresses, Jessica and Sylvia were reasonable athough it would have been nice if a jug of water had been placed on our table upon arrival. Additionally, the music was loud and absolutely awful. Overall, it was a disappointing visit and neither myself, my son, nor my husband will be returning.

Waiter waltzed off half way through taking our order. The starter of bread and olives was extremely overpriced for what it was. The main course I had was cold and had to go back to the kitchen. The dessert was huge but under whelming. The atmosphere was too noisy. At one point the chef of one of the team stormed out, hi jacking the singer's mic part way through his song. Won't be heading back there in a hurry. Very overpriced in comparison to other restaurants.

My wife and I went for lunch. Excellent value and the food was delicious. Very nice team looked after us, we had a great bottle of wine and throughly enjoyed the occasion. Sorry about the half eaten food pics, we dived straight in! Forgot to snap the Sardines and the Calamari.

Really nice variety of food and excellent service. Went there with my friends on Saturday and really enjoyed the food. Well done Porto Duoro! And also need to mention our waitress Elena that recommended us the signature dishes and the food was absolutely delightful !

Packed out Saturday night when 7 of us ate here. Lovely place, but I think the service and the food suffered a little due to how busy it was. My wife has eaten at the previous place in Acocks Green and loved the food there. Would definitely try again though.

The Bacalhau Porto Douro was an absolute treat! Packed with authentic flavours, the cod was perfectly cooked, and the garlic roasted potatoes were spot on. The fresh parsley added a lovely touch to the dish. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting, giving off that charming Portuguese vibe. Special mention to Jessica, who took such great care of us! She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place for great food and fantastic service!

This was my first experience dining at this restaurant. The ambience was nice with the candles lit on the tables. We chose from both the main menu and also the set menu. The food was very very good and the portion sizes were really great! The main thing that made the evening extra special was the service and how attentive the servers were. It really created an amazing experience for me and my family and a BIG thank you goes to Chabo who was our server for the evening! We will definitely be back again in the near future! Came to this restaurant with my husband and son, and felt very disappointed. This started with the waitress very friendly and helpful however wasn't able to produce a children's menu (no fault of her own) she did attempt to find the children's menu and spoke with a supervisor but couldn't produce one therefore she took a picture on her own phone and apologised perfusly. Not her fault though! (Also called prior to booking and checked that they did a children's menu which they said yes). Food was bland lack flavour for me and my partner who stewed beef and I had the seabass. Portion sizes were fair but left feeling disappointed with the lack of flavour, slighltly over on the fish, unseasoned vegetables, such ashame as this was on new years eve therfore lookibg foward to starting the evening with a lovley meal. Need to address this especially if targeting for a more fin dine experience in regards to the price. Have eaten at chain restaurants e.g cote, bistrot Pierre with better stands of food and is reflect value in the price. From a perspective of higher end price of food e.g Bank, I've etc no where near the same standards. Which is unfortunate as the setting or the restaurant is beautiful and staff were friendly but not enough for me to come back or recommend.

We were a family of four who dined here on New Year's Day in the evening. The place was quiet and food came out at a good pace to allow us to enjoy the evening. Service was really good and attentive. The restaurant has moved from nearby Acocks Green a while ago and serves authentic Portuguese food. All the dishes are explained really well in the menu and each dish is numbered for people with allergies. Portion sizes were really good, and food came out really hot. We all loved the dishes we ordered. At the end of the meal, each table was given a complementary shot of liquor (we had Almond) and a traditional Portuguese Custard Tart. If you are travelling by car, parking is tricky, but you do have publicly available paid car parking nearby, Mell Square Car Park is c5min walk. We had a lovely time with great food and will look to return soon

Absolutely awful food - it's not authentic North Portuguese cuisine - menu descriptions do not match food served and redicuously over-priced.

Unfortunately, as much as we wanted to love it here, we did not have a great experience at Porto Duoro. My partner and I visited on Christmas Eve with a table booked at 16:45 thinking we would have plenty of time to enjoy our meal before anywhere near closing time. Sadly we were completely rushed, we sat down to eat and our bread and olive starter arrived as we ordered a bottle of red wine. As we had literally one bite of our starter, our mains arrived - this is within TEN minutes of sitting down and arriving at the restaurant. My creamy chicken was nice but partner paid £35 for a fillet steak which was very average and bland - no spices or seasoning used at all. The sides were again bland and easily something you could knock up at home, a plain basic salad, plain rice and a watery spinach dish. Within 5 minutes of finishing our dinner, my dessert arrived which again was ok but flavourless, topped with a stale biscuit so old it was bendable without snapping! The ‘mulled wine’ was just hot wine, no cinnamon or spice flavour to it whatsoever however the manager did remove it from our bill. Nonetheless, he seemed eager to leave from the get go and we managed to compete 3 courses within 45 mins, I have never been so rushed. We had pretty much 3/4 of the bottle of wine left as we’d not been able to sit and relax and enjoy the evening given how rushed it was. Despite spending £100, we had a 5/10 meal with little flavour along with a 5/10 experience. We had a young female waitress who was lovely however and made a very disappointing experience much better. We won’t come back sadly, despite really wanting to like it here. Premium prices for average food.

Our family have always enjoyed this family run restaurant, who this year moved from their site at Acocks Green to Solihull. We had a family festive dinner here last night and pleased to announce it’s as good as ever. The Christmas festivities were well underway and very infectious. There was live music and we had a great waitress, Ona, who was as friendly and as helpful as you could possibly want. All in all, a good festive night out for our family. Definitely be back in the new year

Had a lovely time here. Very busy on a Saturday night. Even though service was a bit slow, the staff were friendly. Lovely Portuguese wine. I would give the cocktails a miss though. Food is delicious and served very hot. Absolutely delicious. Definitely on the pricier side at about £60 pp, but worth it for special occasions. I think the seafood/fish options are better than the meat options after trying both. My only request is that they need live music on the weekend, especially during peak hours. If not that, they need speakers on the other side of the restaurant as the music could only be heard at the bar side. A little bit quiet on the side I was sitting. Great to support local businesses!!

Been wanting to go to this restaurant since it moved to Solihull for a while, I was not disappointed! Great looking and welcoming decor, good layout, welcoming, friendly and attentive staff. Comprehensive menu choice and well cooked and presented meals all for reasonable prices. Combined with the atmosphere made for a great night out. I will definitely be visiting again, it's well worth it.

This place is excellent, I was raised in Solihull, I work in restaurants, this is my favourite restaurant in Solihull ever. Authentic Portugese, unique restaurant, amazing food. It may not exactly be cheap but it's great value. The drinks are also unusual in The West Midlands, the genuine article, and just really good. I'd definitely consider going for breakfast or lunch.

I had an amazing dining experience at Porto Douro! The food was really good in both taste and presentation. The waiter Joshua was super nice, well trained and made sure we felt taken care of throughout our meal. It was absolutely a great restaurant if you are looking for dates, celebration or even casual meals. Super recommend!

Makes me want to go back to Lisbon. Seven of us went here for a family dinner this evening. The food was fabulous. The rabbit stew was phenomenal, best I've had in a restaurant. If you love meat on the bone, take a couple of hours to do the rabbit stew justice with a nice bottle of douro ✨ All of us really enjoyed it, the lamb shank also being of note. The senior waiters did all the heavy lifting early in the night with impeccable service, so when they stepped down later in the evening their junior colleagues had a hard act to follow. At least they have excellent role models. Looking forward to coming back
