Fantastic coffee and pastries set us up for our walk along the coastal path. Didn’t have time to return for ice cream sadly.

A absolute gem of a little shop at Porthcothan Bay. Lots of "essentials" like bread, eggs and jam. Beautiful ice cream and very good coffee, smoothies, pasties and sandwiches, which you can enjoy in the seating area next to the shop. Perfect to take a break at. Good, friendly service too!

We used to visit Porthcothan when I was little and hurtling down the cliff path to the beach shop is one of my happiest memories. We started coming back to the bay a couple of years ago and the shop has evolved into an absolute gem! Yummy pasties, Roskilly’s ice cream and the best service. Defo worth a visit. I love following them on insta to get my Porthcothan fix year round. Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see you next summer.

After a disappointment at Berryfields (it was shut) I was grumpy because I was set on a cream tea. We went into Porthcothan Bay store to see if they did one. Answer, no. But then the very helpful and friendly staff did say they could do a 'DIY' one.?? 5 minutes later I had 2 great coffees, a packet of 4 scones, a jar of excellent jam and a huge pot of clotted cream. They happily lent us plates and knives and we enjoyed the best, most indulgent (DIY) cream tea EVER..... for about £14! So much so, that we went back a couple of days later to buy the same ingredients as friends were visiting. The stores are well stocked with goodies, but what makes this place is the staff - great people, great attitude. Thank you,

A lovely little beach shop on the main walk down to the beach, but this isn't tacky plastic buckets and spades, it's a nice store selling food etc but also has bakery items, ice cream and good coffee. There's seating outside, the highlight of sitting there was listening to the local old ladies who'd met there for a gossip about local life. It was fascinating, like when they interview the neighbours in an episode of Grand Designs.

We recently visited Porthcothan Beach and what a good choice we made. The beach is stunning with beautiful clean golden sand and a blue sea. There is a gentle down hill walk to the beach from the car park but it is fairly easy going.

We first encountered this lovely cafe nestled in the sand dunes a couple of years ago and have been eager to return. The revisit lived up to expectation! While the cafe was a few minutes short of closing, we were not rushed and were offered everything on the menu. Very friendly and good quality food and coffee. We enjoyed a delicious pasty and wrap.

We’ve been coming to Portcothan Beach for nearly 40 years and always visit the stores. The last couple of years have seen huge improvements. The staff work relentlessly, the week we were there the queue was continuous all day long. Despite this, all of the staff were incredibly professional, friendly and cheerful! Fantastic high quality produce including pasties, wraps and amazing cinnamon buns! Lots of vegan options and oat decaf lattes - delicious! Great measures in place to ensure social distancing as well. Thank you to all the staff who supplied us with such tasty food all week- it really did help us to enjoy our holiday! As an aside, the loos in the beach car park cost 20p, unfortunately we saw lots of people nipping in and wedging the doors open to avoid paying. We were quite happy to pay to allow them to stay open, I gather the car park charges go to the district council and the loos are funded by the district council - we would happily donate a fiver or tenner towards the cost of keeping them open- I don’t know if the shop could accept donations for this?

We’d spent a lovely morning hiking the cliffs from Trevone and lusted over a pasty and (good) coffee. Our criteria were met :)The pasties were super - beef and veggie - and the coffees excellent. The two young women servers were super helpful and pleasant. Outside is a lovely eating area/patio. Handy access to the beach and city toilets which apparently are persistently awful! One caution is the location isn’t obvious - walk over the bridge and take a little lane off the road.

Fantastic shop for whilst you’re on holiday. Ice cream was delicious; all general provisions were there; local jewellery and crafts were also lovely. Lunches were very tasty. Children’s rolls for £1.50. Salad boxes and rolls were reasonably priced too. They hosted a ‘curry on the beach’ night while we were there which was a great idea.

Little beach store supplying visitors of the most perfect little Cornish beach. Lovely friendly owners who provide a wonderful welcome, and a great local service, in both the shop, and supporting the beach. Its not Tesco Extra, so wont have everything you want all the time, but it does have most of what you want most of the time, but more importantly, the owners are friendly and welcoming. We went in at lunchtime hoping to get a pasty. Cornish cafe, right by the beach, seems like a reasonable expectation that they'll have some pasties. But they had run out! For the whole day! Running out of pasties is unheard of in my significantly experience of Cornish eateries. They said they didn't sell them all yesterday which is why they didn't get so many in today, which clearly shows all they care about is money, not the customer. More evidence from this comes from the fact that they suggested we buy rolls, a block of cheese and a tub of margerine rather than pointing out their (albeit limited) sandwich selection). Lots of promise but delivery on these which would Postman Pat would absolutely abhor.

We have been going back for the past few years , the shop is well stocked and the staff are really helpful and friendly. They make a great cup of tea and of course stock delicious pasties and pastries. The setting is great. My only complaint is not about the shop but about the public toilets across the road, we were there in July / August (busy time) but the toilets were clearly not cleaned on a daily basis ! There is a charge of 20 pence to use them which is fine but you do expect them to be cleaned and stocked regularly. This has no bearing on he shop Which is great (full marks to Emma & Barney)
