Portfield Chinese Takaway in Pembrokeshire

After reading the reviews we were a little apprehensive about ordering. However we are so pleased we did. Enjoyed the food. Ordering was so easy with a very patient chap taking the order.( me having trouble finding my purse!!) Service pleasing and quick delivery so have no qualms about recommending Portfield Chinese Takeaway. Enjoyed the chicken chow mein and sweet & sour chicken with boiled rice. 10/10

Stop using 4 years ago because you have started using cheap ingredients. Thought I would give you another go. WOW sugar on the honey roasted ribs. Bbq ribs tasteless. Your family must be so proud of you. Use to he the best in town....

Partner had called to order we had already added everything up and had the money ready to go when we told the person over the phone they tried to over charge us £15! the order was meant to be £25 based off THEIR menu they put through our door but over the phone the order was over £40!!! When my partner had pointed this out they argued back it’s an old menu but when my wife had explained it was put through our door 3 days ago they hung up on her piss poor service and trying to rob people don’t bother ordering from these rip off merchants

We ordered food and had home delivery, Was told it would be 45 mins to 1 hour. It turned up within 40 minutes. Delivery driver was really friendly and the food was fantastic and boiling hot. Nicest special chow mein I have ever tasted. All dishes were full of flavour and filled to the top in the containers. Will definitely recommend to family and friends. We'll done Portfield ✔️

Rang for a delivery… delivered quick… food was very poor!!! Onions raw!!! Crispy beef omg awful tasted odd and very gluey!! Won’t order again as this has been second time

Ordered for a special occasion and what we received was an embarrassment.. Tasteless, bland slop was the overall feedback from table. We ordered many dishes as we like to mingle in but might as well been one dish with cheap meat cuts..Never again

. Still looking for the chicken in the crispy chili chicken and some may say the sauce was gelatinous. Nice fish tank, shame the fish escaped It was a shame, I felt dead excited yet now I feel bitter disappointment. Maybe the flavours escaped with the fish ... Probably most definitely won't go there again. Maybe the chief was on holiday.

I have used Portfield Chinese for the last 30 years,always the best as far as I am concerned!!the last time I had a takeaway it was awful the food looked and tasted brown!!so bad I threw it away!!gutted I will never order from here again

My daughter treated me to a birthday Chicken chow mein but tonights was very bland.we always have food by you so don't know what went wrong.

Lovely meals. Service with a smile and all ready to collect at stated time. Only drawback, we are a bit too far away for delivery, as delivery costs are quite high.

Worst crispy fried beef. Soggy tasteless and even the dog turned her noise up at it. Will never order from there again

Stuck for a light evening meal after a huge B&B breakfast ànd snacks all day, we opted for a Chìnese. We had a basic Sweet and Sour, and Chow Mein, with Egg fried rice. Absolutely pleased with both the portions and the flavour... lovely tasting S/S sauce and the rest was equally tasty. Would go back there in a flash.

Poor food. Don’t bother. Everything looks the same I.e anaemic. Firstly, this place isn’t cheap. Getting on for £30 quid for a dish and rice each and some chips and ribs. Satay was some beige pork and veg in a sauce that had never seen a peanut. The prawns in the beige curry were like something from “Honey I shrunk the kids.” Tiny. Salt and pepper chips were a few chips and chilli flakes in a plastic tub. Soggy as by the time we came to eat them. Schoolboy stuff. Don’t even chuck in a bag of crackers when you spend a load. Don’t mind paying for decent food but this is top money for cheap stuff. Go elsewhere.

Firstly this place isn’t cheap. Nearly 30 quid for mains, rice, ribs and chips. The satay was an anaemic, beige load of pork and veg. Basic, dark, soy based sauce that had never seen a peanut. The few prawns in the equally beige curry were literally little fingernail size. The salt and pepper chips (£3.20) comprised of a small plastic tub of chips with chilli flakes. Probably quite edible when first served but steamed and soggy in their own heat after the short journey home. Day one stuff. Ribs were pleasant enough, annoyingly they were served in a paper bag that would have suited the chips! Top dollar for the cheapest of ingredients. Go elsewhere.

Absolute worst meal I have ever eaten crispy beef was like dust prawn toast all shriveled up stay well clear of this place spend your money on Tesco's Chinese takeaway before using these ...... Gash food

Took over two hours for my order to be delivered. Was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour. Phoned twice to see where it was. Was told it was ready for the driver to pick up. Half an hour later I was still waiting. Phoned again and was told there’s nothing they can do about it. A very average meal was delivered eventually. Very poor service, very average food. If you expect good customer service don’t bother ordering from here.

Ordered quite a bit of food it was ok, the chicken balls we ordered were a mixture some prawn in there I only ordered chicken need to be careful people have allergies! I've worked in restaurants I wouldn't give someone prawns when they ordered chicken.

Bit of a shame, quite hit and miss. The staff were very friendly and helpful, Chicken fried rice and salt and pepper chicken were really good and really enjoyed them and the portions were great... but... the chicken and sweetcorn soup and crisp chilli beef were unedible.

I am a lorry driver who stayed in the area and I ordered my tea from portfield Chinese takeaway I found them very friendly on the phone and my food was delivered to me very promptly and piping hot thanks for a great service highly recommended

Possibly the worst Chinese takeout we’ve ever had. Under cooked batter which acted like an oil sponge, chicken chop suey I can only describe as being boiled in dishwater with tinned sweet corn, chicken with spring onion and ginger which was the same as the chop suey with the addition of spring onion and ginger, shredded aromatic duck complete with several large bones and pancakes so dry they crumbled to dust, the hoi sin sauce was just embarrassing... chip gravy mixed with said sauce which had congealed by the time it arrived, the same sauce made an appearance with the crispy beef, sweet and sour sauce that tasted like it came from a haribo factory, two completely different egg fried rice... one ok the other just a solid mass of over cooked rice with no egg and an odd reddish colour and a small bag of stale prawn crackers... these were free with a £70+ meal. On a plus side the chicken chow mein was ok. Overall completely and utterly disappointed with last night’s takeout having had good food from there several times over the years although not in the last year or two... has it changed hands? Sad to say I won’t be returning, there is plenty of competition out there and this place needs to up its game in a big way... tinned sweet corn... nuff said...

Terrible food - (spare ribs with no meat at all, Spring roll - SO much grease - the whole meal was so bland.... First time I have ever posted anything at all on this platform EVER! just to say that how c**p the meal was!!!! Late as well....

Had tofu with mixed veg and small rice. The tofu was fab and what I really love about this Chinese is that you have an option of small, medium or large rice. The small rice is £1.40 and is more than enough for one person.

Living near Haverfordwest I have become used to the mediocre food served up by the local Chinese takeaways. I cannot remember the last time that I was wowed whilst living in Pembrokeshire and have given up on the expectation of a truly satisfying meal experience however there is the odd occasion after a long day at work and finishing late that the treat of spending ones hard earned wages on mediocrity in preference to preparing ones own dinner is an acceptable trade off. Hence I decided to order from Portfield Chinese Takeaway, I visit three or four times a year which is usually reliably mediocre. I ordered one of the set meals Special Chop Suey, Egg Fried Rice, Prawn Crackers £8.80 with the addition of a Spring roll £11.00 in total. My food was not ready when I arrived so it hadn't been sat around in the kitchen waiting for me to collect, I arrived home 10 minutes later and started with the Spring Roll. To say it appeared limp and soggy is an understatement it looked to me as though it had been sat in a hot cupboard on a low heat for a few hours then microwaved for a minute or so. The content which was just bean sprouts looked as though they had been braised. that went straight in the bin. The Prawn Crackers if a little broken up were fine. 8 out 10 for that gastronomic achievement. The Special Chop Suey had only chicken in it. No evidence of a single King Prawn, slice of Char Sui Pork or Beef was luke warm and tasteless and the egg fried rice was also luke warm and a spartan austere portion. After a mouthfull this also went for the dogs dinner. If I had the energy I would have driven back into town and returned the food it was that bad however I just wanted to put my feet up for the day so settled for a cheese sandwich instead. I would have given a terrible rating but on a plus point the lady taking the orders and serving the food was friendly and cheerful hence I score poor overall. I'm not looking for an exceptional meal experience I just want a satisfying evening meal. l I can't wait for Wetherspoons to open again when I'll be able to get great value food that is always hot and satisfying for a mid week evening meal that saves cooking at home.

We have been using portfield takeaway for years and years! It really is the best around! The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are always so friendly!

Quite possibly the most pathetic excuse of a take away, they actually believe that lying to their customers will make It better!!! I am disgusted that they not only lied but continued to lie on the numerous calls I made, then continued to lie afterwards. Food isn’t great either... poor show all round avoid if you don’t want letting down..

We had a takeaway tonight from portfield as we use to order from peakin house but standards slipped badly so decided to change. Food was hot not greasy at all as we have had previously from other places. Very tasteful. Portion size was good. Salt and pepper prawns were lovely. Aromatic duck was also really nice. Delivery was fast. Driver was polite This is our new Chinese. Only down side we bought some chop sticks and have no idea how to use them lol. Nothing youtube won't sort out. Thank you.

Ordered a takeaway, was told 45mins to an hour , after an hour and 15 mins rang to see if driver had got lost, apparently our was being prepared, then we would have to wait for the driver to return. Food arrived over an 1 hour and 40 mins. Food was tasteless, one dish was dry, completely disappointed.

Delivered the wrong order or missed items several times. Cold food & rude staff. 100% wont be using again after being told to microwave my order whilst waiting for the rest of my food to be delivered.

Always use this as a local takeaway service as its always quick and tasty. Never has an order late or wrong in over 3 years of vising.

Very good, we came in to order a take away, they were very busy with telephone orders but we only waited 15 mins.

This takeaway was really tasteless and we waited over an hour and 20 minutes for the delivery. Granted the other take always were shut for Chinese New Year but the food wasn’t even worth the wait.

Great food, honestly the best Singapore chowmein ever and takeouts are fast. Would recommend to those looking for high quality and cheaply priced Chinese food.

Agreed on the phone we were given a window of 45 minutes to an hour. It was 20 minutes late when we decided to check where the order was, to find out the driver hadn't even picked our food up and that it would be at least another half an hour on top, was told to deal with it. Cancelled the order, never using this chinese again. Pathetic Customer service especially form the "boss". Chens kitchen is much better.

Phoned for a delivery and was told about an hour and a half wait, i was happy with that until the delivery turned up, everything in the bag except my dish, my family tucked in as i rang and asked for it, to be told it would be another hour for 1 chicken foo yung, to be delivered, needless to say i insisted on it being delivered, we was supposed to be eating as a family. it turned up 20 minutes later with not even a sorry, i reheated my chips and rice and ate my meal solo as my family had finished......disgusted to not even have as much as a sorry for ruining a family treat.....needless to say I WILL NOT BE USING THESE AGAIN!!!!!

Cant fault this place for quality and quantity. The prices are reasonable, there is a wide choice, with the usuals and some specials as well. If you ring beforehand and order, food is usually ready by the time you have driven over. Most used Chinese for us in Haverfordwest.

The worst Chinese meal I have ever had. I had just as well set light to my £50 . All four of use could not eat the meal , I think we could have cook the meal better. Avoid like the plague
