Porterhouse Steakhouse in Aberdeenshire

Loved everything about the porterhouse staff where attentive, food perfect just what I needed on my week away

One of the better dining experiences, only drawback was one steak arrived slightly on the cool side. Perfectly cooked, but may have been left to the side until the remainder of the meals were ready. There was a large catering event on elsewhere, but this did not impact service received.

Sadly it was very quiet when we went, but the staff were great, food was well worth the money and the music was great 👍

Carvery delicious and some of our table had seconds with extra meats. Very reasonably priced. Service a bit off with young inexperienced waiting staff spilling drinks everywhere and a bit unsure of what they were doing but other than that, enjoyed the experience.

Steaks always excellent. More mushrooms would have been nice & a healthier option other than battered onion rings. Medium & medium rare steak order mixed up. Enjoyed the meal & would visit regularly.

Very good food, portions very generous and well presented. Good wine list and Whiskey selections. Interior with a large steak print was a little OTT. Good meal!

Gone downhill quite drastically in my opinion. Steaks we ordered were very much a mixed bag. Both our kids ordered the same (sirloin cooked medium well), but these came out completely different. One was medium and the other was very well done. Granted one steak was thicker than the other but surely a steakhouse can legislate for that. I would have said something but at no point during the meal did anyone ask if everything was ok and the kids were hungry. My wife & I ordered the sharing fillet steak and it was cooked perfectly and was the highlight of the meal. Chips are very poor in our opinion (very dark - some black, definitely overcooked) and onion rings very, very bland. As other s have said, the tiny amount of sauce you get for £4.95 is a farce! Desserts were mostly quite good however I ordered a tarte tatin and what I got certainly wasn’t that - 1 dry slice of apple on a dry piece of puff pastry. Not a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Staff, while polite enough, have no enthusiasm and very much going through the motions. We have been to Porterhouse quite a few times and used to love it but we feel it has gotten steadily worse in terms of food quality and value. I don’t think we will be back unfortunately.

Food burnt and very poor quality 4.95 for a thimble of steak sauce was greedy,chips were black in colour totally ruined what should have been a nice wedding anniversary meal definitely won’t be back or recommend porterhouse to anyone left feeling disgusted they need to get a better chef

Took my parents out to dinner at Porterhouse last week for the first time and we all loved it! The food was great as expected but it was the level of service that really made the experience. A huge thank-you to Jodi who was working both the bar and table service with professionalism and a great positive attitude.

We were on holiday and decided to try Porterhouse and we were not disappointed! The steak was so tender and tasty; it was the best steak we have ever had!! The Diane sauce was to die for. The chips were fantastic. The special dessert was cherry cheesecake and oh my gosh it was so creamy and tasty. The servers were ever so nice and polite asking us questions about ourselves and making suggestions on how to have my steak and what wine to have etc. We live 8 hours away so not like we can pop up for a nice meal, but if we ever come this way again, we will definitely come back. Best meal we’ve had in a long time.

Do not let the location or the outside put you off. Great steaks excellent service

Lovely food, lovely staff, can't fault anything about this place. My favourite in the area.

Food was absolutely yummy! I had the Chicken Succotash followed by the Belgian Chocolate Fondant - compliments to the chef are in order. Polite staff, only negative was that we found the tables to be a little close together so you can’t really hear yourselves talk! We asked to move, which were fortunate too but can imagine if it was full you’d have to sit in silence.

My latest meal at the Porterhouse was 10/10! We went on a Wednesday evening where they have a 2 for 1 deal on some of their main courses. The flavour of the steak was just beautiful. The onion rings were as good as the server said they would be. And the skirlie was 👌🏼too. Everything we had that night was absolutely delicious from steaks, chicken, all sides and even the desserts! I think it speaks to the talent of the chefs putting Chocolate Fondant and Baked Alaska on the same menu and executing both perfectly! Looking forward to a return visit ASAP.

10/10 service. Staff were lovely and the food was absolutely amazing! They do a deal on a Wednesday night that we wasn’t aware of until we got there and it was great value for money! Will definitely be back.

Birthday and Anniversary meal with family and friends (14 of us!)

Steak was cooked nice but the fries were overdone and onion rings were hard as a brick and very dark in color with also being over cooked.

Went on a Sunday and had a carvery. Food was okay but waiting staff couldn't be less arsed. The room is big and very open meaning that it is hard to hear and hold a conversation. A lot of babies there made it very hard to hear anything. At the end of our meal the staff started to move chairs/tables that were screeching across the floor as a massive hint to get out despite the fact the restaurant closed at 1630 (this was 1515). Probably wouldn't bother going back.

We had a meal Saturday night for 6 adults 3 kids just like to say every thing was perfect staff were lovely chatty very attentive food was all served hot and cooked to perfection had a great birthday enjoyed by all will definitely be back thank you all x

Best Fillet Steak I've had in a long long time. Make sure you sit on the right side further away from the Cattle Centre which is quite odourful! Otherwise thumbs up!!

Some of the food was good but generally if was very basic as was the choice of wines, service was nothing special. DSC

Their signature tomahawk steak is fantastic. The best steak in Aberdeen right now. Have it with Truffle and parmesan chips! My only complaint was waiting too long for the bill at the end which I can forgive as they got very busy just as we wanted to leave.

Heavenly steak and just a lovely restaurant! We enjoyed our visit very much and really recomend dining here. Everything was just so delicious and there was a perfect sized kidsmenu. Defenitely going back next time we visit Inverurie. Must visit 😁

I enjoyed my meal on Sunday but I found the service bizarre. In retrospect, I wonder if we had done anything wrong. I am not sure when we arrived, but it might have been after three when they have stopped serving. My partner, who I know can be very difficult, asked the chef serving behind the Carvery, if she could have a Vegan meal. He agreed a special price for her, for just vegetables. I was given a special price, for only having a single carvery course. The problem came when we wanted to choose a table. The Sunday Girl initially insisted that we could only have a table in which the cutlery was laid out. We eventually had a table by a window which was much lighter. The extra work involved moving a knife and fork. At this point, my partner decided she did not want anything at all. So she left me on my own, which I was quite happy about. I was feeling hungry and I had wanted to eat at the Porterhouse for a long time. So far, so good. I enjoyed my meal. When I finished I stood by the entrance to pay. The Sunday Girl pointedly ignored me and chatted with her colleagues at the bar. I walked over to the bar to pay. I was presented with a bill for two people by the Sunday Girl. When I protested, the chef reduced this by half. A lot of people find these confrontations surprisingly unpleasant.

We had the Sunday roast/carvery and it was outstanding. The beef was delicious. It is the best Sunday dinner we have had in the UK.

At the time we went it was fairly quite. The food was nice and staff were friendly. The menu desert wise did seem rather limited but other than that the overall experience on Sunday a few weeks back was positive.

Our first time at this venue but certainly won't be the last. Lovely venue and atmosphere. The steak was gorgeous, cooked perfectly. The mid week offer makes it excellent value.

Sat outside in the sun for a coffee. Inside was clean and spacious and the people I saw eating the food looked lovely.

Lovely steakhouse just outside Inverurie. The flavoursome fillet is my favourite and melts in your mouth. The chips etc. are also perfect. No complaints at all 😋

Steak was incredible. The young man who served us was excellent. Only negative was the house beer was not to my liken.

Really good quality steak, so tender you could cut it with a butter knife. Only issue was the signature tomahawk steak was quite salty, my wife had the sirloin which was more evenly spiced. Other than that everything was delicious! Will return if we're ever on the area again.

Nice environment and felt safe with full Covid compliance. Ordered the fillet for my wife and I had the signiture tomahawk steak. Filet was lovely, sadly the tomahawk fell down the glaze they put on it made it salty and took away any other flavour from it. Had a bottle of Malbec and made the mistake of going with the cheapest it was rough and lacked any clarity best to avoid it and look to something a bit better. Finished off with the cheese board which was fine nothing special but acceptable. Espresso was again ok but slightly over extracted so tasted touch bitter. Would I recommend, yes but it's slightly overrated from the reviews I've read.

Group of four, all had the T bone steak. It was amazing, each one. The sides were great too, the Calprize salad and the onion rings, prefect! Even if it wasn't 2 for the price of one it would still have been value for money especially compared to other steak places. Best steak I have had in Aberdeen. Regards Barry

It was a birthday meal and could not be faulted. We had the Chateaubriand steak for two and it was excellent as was the whole meal . We felt comfortable that all Covid rules were adhered to. The service was really excellent with staff going the extra mile . Our server,on finding that it was a birthday celebration meal,I informed the chef who piped Happ birthday in chocolate on my dessert plate. Thank you all.

My boss took us here today for our Xmas lunch. From the time we walked in until the time we left it was fantastic. The staff were great, and the food? Well it was mouthwatering. I had the porterhouse signature steak and then tonka bean panacotta. The steak was the best I have ever had and a dessert to die for. Well done team porterhouse 👍👍

Had very good carvery Sunday afternoon. Staff were excellent as was the service.

We had a great meal last night, really enjoyed my steak cooked to perfection. The staff were very nice and pleasant.

I have never been here before but it came recommended. Well I ordered this haddock and chips and it was beautiful. I was with the family who also enjoyed their meal. I will definitely be back! P.s staff all friendly and service quick.

Went for Sunday carvery which was excellent. The usual choice of Beef, Turkey & Gammon and all the trimmings. Plenty of choice of veg including, carrot & parsnip, mashed swede, cauliflower cheese and both boiled & roast tatties. The atmosphere was relaxed, I'm looking forward to our next visit already!

Loved this hidden gem. If you have never been to Thainstone market then it is unlikely you will know this place. The food was fantastic and the service excellent. All freshly prepared food and was really tasty. Well worth a visit.

Confusion over the different menus. Menu in restaurant not the same as ones posted on line. Not all options from the online menus were available. Food was ok.

I would have given it a 4.0 as whilst the food was good, the service could've been better. Would probably try it again.
