Got the steak frites deal that (correct me if I’m wrong) runs Mon - Fri. £10 for lovely rare steak, dealers choice of course, some very crisp chips a splash of salad and insanely good but rich garlic butter. I supplemented it with the port & blue cheese sauce which was well worth the money (extra £3) as it was honking just how I like it. The peppercorn sauce and chimichurri was also excellently done. They also offered Parmesan fries for 50p more or beef dripping fries for £1 more, which I didn’t get this time, but I know for certain I will when I go back. Absolutely excellent server as well, full of energy and happy to have a blether with you. Decor is absolutely lovely making for a warm yet modern atmosphere. Highly recommend for fine dining, but excellent for a cheap business lunch. Thanks!

Great place for a nice steak we went for the chateaubriand which was cooked perfectly along with some roasted veg and parmesan fries. The food quality was excellent and the prices normal for that quality of food and atmosphere. The knife selection was a great touch.

When we arrived at the restaurant, it wasn’t what I was expecting. This is not a massive building with tables crammed into every space available and customers treated like they’re going through a sheep dip. This is a small, cosy place which leads to the staff giving you a warm welcome and a more personal service than you would receive in larger restaurants. So when It comes to the food, only 3 words can explain what it’s like……OH… MY…. GOD!! We had the garlic & rosemary focaccia ( a massive plate that serves 2), and crispy pork belly to start. The bread was delicious, the spiced tomato butter was delicious, but the pork belly to was just amazing, and the sauce…not sure what it was, but I’ve never tasted anything like it before. Now, the steaks. We had sirloin and ribeye, cooked medium/rare and rare. Now I’ve been in a few steak houses, but I have never…never had a steak like this. I like mine rare, and this was cooked to perfection. They offer you a choice of steak knife before hand……you won’t need it. The steak was sooooo soft and tender you’d be able to cut though it with a desert spoon. My wife had the sirloin, again, cooked to perfection and really soft and tender. We also had sides of Parmesan fries, beef dripping chips and Parmesan & balsamic heritaged carrots, all of which were equally delicious. The Chef’s that work in here aren’t just chefs. They are Magicians…Wizards of the food world. They have to be, to make food this good. If I can give only one criticism, keep your Guinness stocked up. I like a Guinness with my steak, but you unfortunately had run out. Other than that… top world class service. we will be back.

Amazing food, staff were so friendly and such a lovely atmosphere. The staff work hard and are really kind and professional and it made me sad to hear the way another table spoke to them and complained about anything and everything that they possibly could, even including the heaters!. The staff handled it so well though, The food was unreal and everything was cooked to perfection. Our 2nd visit and we will definitely be back.

Myself and my partner shared a tomahawk steak for my birthday. I got the portion of beef dropped fries and she had the bone marrow Mac and cheese as well as the mcallan pepper sauce bone marrow butter sauce. I wasn't particularly keen on the bone marrow sauce but my girlfriend loved it. I would have liked the paper sauce a bit stronger but was absolutely amazing. Steak was the finest I've had, cooked perfectly. If you looked at it long enough it would have fallen off your fork. Service excellent, romi(Poor spelling I'm sure) looked after us and she was a star. We also dealt with two other servers who were just lovely as well. Expensive, but wow, well worth it. Back same day next year for my birthday!

Had to leave 1 star for everything as I haven't been to restaurant yet but wanted to warn any customer about buying an itison voucher and trying to call and book it as my daughter did on Sunday and was spoken to very rudely by member of staff for asking a simple question of when avaliablity is for itison bookings...Just no need.. If you can't answer the phone to a restaurant with manners and be polite I'm sorry but you should just not be working in a restaurant I called today to speak to a manager about way my daughter was treated and was so shocked at the comfrontation so I'm assuming the girl I spoke to was the same girl my daughter was attacked by... Conversation was ridiculous I was accused of calling her names.. abusing her at her work.. Shouting.. Which none of them I was I'm 54 years old and have worked in hospitality all my life so I know how to speech to people unlike the manager I spoke 2.very dramatic girl who has a serious attitude problem...shouting and balling down the phone the we where not welcome in the restaurant and to get a refund from itison... Unbelievable behaviour... owner of Port and Rye really needs to have a word or going to lose business with a manager who can't clearly deal with customers respectfully.. Politely and with manners..

I called in to try book a table for the Al a carte menu for my partners 30th and I'm aware expections cannot be made for individuals as i dont belive in self entitlement But was told "nothing I can do" fair enough but not to be even offered a chance at possible cancellation if anything and told look online and book. Absolutely loved Porter & Rye, the quality of food and service was exceptional. I had a fillet steak that was cooked perfectly, no a single bit of fat or grizzle. The sides were plentiful and the dessert amazing - Apple Crumble Tart with Blackberry Sorbet and Raisin Puree. The puree unique in every way. Can’t wait to go back!

My partner & I visited here for my 31st birthday. Firstly, the service received here was nothing short of spectacular - we were served by a man named Arran who was very attentive. Secondly, the food, all I can is WOW. My partner and I are huge steak lovers but this place blew it out of the water. For starters we got, the king prawns and scallops alongside the focaccia bread (a recommendation from Arran) which were amazing. For mains, we got the fillet steak (med/rare) & the T-Bone steak (med/rare) alongside truffle and Parmesan fries, mac & cheese & honey mustard carrots. I cannot put into the words the flavour these dishes produced, the steaks were cooked to absolute perfection. Lastly, the decor and vibe is immaculate, due to it being my birthday, I was made to feel very welcome by a complimentary class of Prosecco and a happy birthday dessert to finish off! This was our first time trying here & I already cant wait to go back!! If you are thinking of going here, do yourself a favour & just book already! We will 100% be recommending to our friends & family.

We booked in for lunch on 30/12 after seeing the steak frites on TikTok and we weren’t disappointed! On arrival we were greeted at the door and taken up to our table, our main waiter was amazing he couldn't have been any more helpful! We both ordered the Focaccia and Steak Frites. The focaccia was amazing it came with caper butter which i’d never had before but loved it, the steak frites were also very good! We then ordered desserts; tiramisu and sticky toffee Alaska. The tiramisu was genuinely the best tiramisu i think I’ve ever had and my partner loved his sticky toffee. Overall our experience was a 10/10 and we can’t wait to come back! Thank you :)

Just had a lovely dinner for my husbands birthday.. I made a special request about where our table was situated while booking and it was sorted without question. Really beautiful meal had here for my partner's birthday with amazing service. I booked us in for dinner and we had a table by the window upstairs, and some tasty cocktails before we got the main meal. We got the focaccia with crispy capers butter, which was deliciously soft with a nice acidity in the butter. We got the steak tartare starter which was a really pleasant mix of pickles, capers, tempura batter pieces, caviar and tempura egg yolk alongside the meat. We got a T bone and a ribeye for mains and they were the best steaks we have ever had - amazing flavour from the dry ageing and perfect cook for my rare. We are real foodies and steak buffs so we were hugely impressed! The beef dripping chips had a background beefy taste and the truffle fries were well balanced, alongside some fresh lemon and pomegranate veg. They gave us some complimentary birthday bubbles at the start of the evening, and finished with a little happy birthday pudding, which made the evening feel really special - I didn't request any birthday additions! Service was kind, quick and polite - exceptional all round. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and we will be back!

Mixed review on this one. We ordered chateaubriand and although it was really tender it was lukewarm and so were the sides. The place itself is cosy and warm and the expectation was this is a fabulous place for a steak. Unfortunately we found it too cold and we told the waitress and she took chateaubriand to get warmed up and no change really the steak was still lukewarm unfortunately… it’s unfortunate really as the meat itself was so tender . Also the toilet for men was out of order so only female toilets could be used.

I had the pleasure of dining at Porter & Rye this past Saturday and it was an absolutely outstanding experience! We were visiting Scotland and had booked in advance. With four people, including two real steak lovers, expectations were high, especially after an average visit to another restaurant in Glasgow. The selection of steaks was impressive and we ordered four different dishes with different levels of doneness - all were cooked to perfection! The meat was simply amazing and one of the best I've ever tasted. I would particularly like to emphasize the first-class service. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The side dishes, sauces and the different types of butter that we tried were also excellent and rounded off the meal perfectly. A small suggestion for improvement would be the wine selection, which could be a little more extensive. Still, I can safely say that this visit was one of the best restaurant experiences of my life - at least when it comes to steak. I highly recommend Porter & Rye and look forward to my next visit!

Dropped in for the Sunday Roast and it certainly didn't disappoint. The roast beef was cooked perfectly and the trimmings were plentiful and complemented the meat perfectly. Our server was great - very personable while giving just the right amount of attention. And I love that it's dog-friendly. Can't recommend highly enough if you're after a hearty Sunday lunch and we'll be heading back to sample the rest of the menu.

What a gem this restaurant is and had one of the very best Sunday lunches…so good we came back the next night for steaks which was also superb. The atmosphere is really good. Our 3rd time here for Sunday Roast.. The best Sunday Roast in Glasgow, braised Ox cheek and roast beef were excellent, perfectly cooked, very tender and delicious. Gravy is lovely and Yorkshire pudding is amazing. Mac and cheese was also very good. Every bite is delicious , worth for the meal and price is fair. Excellent service and atmosphere. Lovely staff who were very attentive. They gave advice and tasters on wine when I was unsure which to get. The Pheasants Rillets was decent. We shared a coute de bouef and chips with chimichurri and peppercorn sauce. Steak was cooked perfectly and chips were lovely. Chimicurri sauce was a bit bland, peppercorn was lovely. We had baked Alaska for dessert which was sadly disappointing, the sponge we think, was gluten free and was a poor texture and flavour. The icecream and meringue were good but the caramel sauce didn’t taste of much. Would go back again for the steak, chips and wine and the service was to be commended.

What a wonderful place, a true gem! I had a lunch a few weeks ago and couldn't believe how reasonable the lunch menu is, I surprise the place wasn't mobbed. The food was absolutely gorgeous. The service deserves a special mention - everything just brilliant. I also mentioned it was my birthday and my partner and I were offered a glass of complimentary prosecco each. Plus, I was presented with a little sweet cake with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. We just walked in on the day, no prior booking, so very glad we did. We'll back many times again!

Visiting Glasgow, we were looking for the best Sunday Roast and they exceeded the mark. This was a great, upscale experience. A lot of technique in bringing a lot of variety onto one plate of delicious food. And anyone in your party isn't excited about a roast that day, their whole brunch menu is available. We got a crab pasta as well which was creamy and delicious. Definitely recommend for a special occasion or a fun Sunday afternoon out!

Was in with some friends for dinner and would highly recommend. One friend ordered an off the menu cocktail, and they were only too happy to make it. Started with the sharing charcuterie board, you get to choose what’s on it from a wide selection; DONT get this if you’re planning on more food, it’s enormous and great value! I followed with the fillet; cooked to perfection! Desert was chocolate and blueberry tart, and gorgeous! Was there for a couple of hours, we were asked to move form the table for another party, but were accommodated at another….and got a free shot by way of a thank!

Porter & Rye has been on my list of Glasgow restaurants to visit for years and I’m glad I finally booked in. The restaurant itself is lovely and the food and drinks menu are varied and interesting. The chateaubriand we had was cooked perfectly and the cocktails were a delight. The staff kindly moved us to a window seat to finish our wine and have a couple more cocktails when they needed our table back. We will be back!

Also, mega shout out to them, my fiancée was working nightshift on her birthday and I wanted to cook her a steak dinner before she went. The amuse bouche was a very nice touch, and thank you for the little prawn add-on, they were delicious. The servers were friendly, approachable, didn't rush us and didn't mind that we were clearly not steak or wine connoisseurs. Their recommendations for the food and wine were spot on, it was exactly the special night we hoped it would be. My only recommendation is maybe a small lamp for the table under the stairs. I like a table that is tucked away and cosy, it's just that I couldn't see very well.

Went for the weekday lunch menu where they have a selection of dishes for £10. The steak was good, including the sauce it came with. The burger was just mediocre and I suspect the patty was frozen at some point as it was a bit tough. I might be back to try the actual stuff from their main menu! However the service was a let down. The staff were friendly enough but everything took really long from ordering the food to ordering drinks and then our food arriving. I think overall worth visiting for their steak but probably not for a quick weekday lunch.

We went here off the recommendation of a reel I saw on Facebook and really wasn't disappointed. The staff were lovely and welcoming, and the food had a minimal wait between courses. The olives were delicious. We were given a free amuse-bouche, which was stunning, our starters were very tasty and the main was cooked exactly how we asked. Couldn't fault the food or the price. We will definitely return.

We ate here with a group of friends, six in total, in August 2024. It is hard to fault. The menu was an existential crisis for me as I wanted to try so many things. But we had gone for the Sunday Roast and I stuck to it. I was so glad. It is literally one of the beef roasts I have had and I say that as a proud Yorkshireman who has eaten a fair few. The quality of the meat they have here is clearly credit to the relationship they have with a great local Scottish butcher but it was the quality and tastiness of all the sides on the roast that took it to the next level. Two of the guests also opted for the burger that looked equally good. The cauliflower cheese was a delicious addition and several of the starters were shared and equally good (the prawns, the rilettes for example). It is also worth mentioning the stunning and delicious Bloody Marys which you can order on a sliding scale of spice. A weekend in Glasgow proved to me that it has some absolutely fantastic eateries and this place is one of those. Go!

Decided to try the Sunday roast, we’ve been hearing lots about it. Good luck trying to finish this. Roast was amazing, really tasted, cooked fantastic and lots of it. Went for the first time last week and this is one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! Not only that but the sides and bone marrow jus were all outstanding. Lovely little place full of character and very relaxed. The staff were friendly and knowledgable and the food cooked to perfection. Thank you for such a lovely experience. This was a celebration, birthday lunch for my young grandson, a foodie, and a wheelchair user. From first contact phone call -my inquiry re accessibility [level entrance/ disabled toilet]- to the moment the door was opened for our leaving, service was outstanding. It's obviously a meat-heavy menu, but even a vegetarian could eat well with the menu's side dishes; the focaccia we shared and the carrots in yogurt I had with my amazing value £10 steak frites were a meal in themselves. Grandson chose pigeon-beautifully presented and also very substantial -sirloin and beef dripping chips. We shared a coffee with petit fours, the coffee mine , the sweet treats his.Bi Overall, it's probably the best meal I've had this year. So few so-called 'top' restaurants in Glasgow are disabled-friendly; it's shameful, and bad business too- excluding food lovers prepared to spend money on an excellent meal. That is why Porter and Rye was such a great discovery! We will definitely be back. Thank you . .

It is not cheap, but it is fantastic if you want a good quality steak. I had a medium raw rib eye steak with a side dish of mushrooms, cooked to perfection. The occasion was a family celebration and Porter & Rye ticked all the boxes.

Absolutely loved the experience. My family and I had a great time here celebrating my husband's birthday. They welcomed us with complimentary celebratory drinks too which was a great touch. The food was phenomenal and so was the service. One of the best meals we've had. It's a bit on the expensive side which is good to note but totally worth it. We came here for Mother’s Day. Booked for 3 people for a 10am slot and as first guests in, we were seated right next to the door on a four person table. As it was draughty outside, we asked to move to the three person table closer to the corner. Nobody else was in the restaurant. The waitress begrudgingly gave us the other table, mentioning multiple times how they were fully booked. She then explained which parts of the menu weren’t available today. One person from our group has an egg intolerance so when we ordered, we asked for scramble tofu instead. We were then informed that there was no scramble tofu but she also didn’t offer any other substitute - meaning they charged £8 for a roll with 2 potato scones and some avocado spread. Another person had an avocado allergy. The waitress was informed about this at the beginning of the order and when asked if the avocado could be substituted with spinach, the waitress said that there was no spinach on the menu. Only after pointing this out did she acknowledge it and the substitute was made on the order. However, throughout the breakfast the person started feeling sick, only to discover there was avocado on the other side of the sourdough. It seemed like the kitchen had put on some avocado, then realised the order and just flipped the slice of bread on the other side. We all finished food and after 30 minutes with no interaction a new waiter came to take away our dishes after multiple attempts to get the attention of staff without being rude. We informed him of the avocado and he apologised and took the item and the drink of this person off the final bill, which we appreciated. This used to be a great food spot and I have had many good good experiences in here over the years. It seemed customer service from the first waiter was not her strong point and gave the distinct impression everything was a problem to do.

Not the best food I've ever had and given my wife is Italian was unlike any Italian food I've had in 50 years. Food cold as was the restaurant with 2 out of the tasting menu having pass marks. Waitresses terrific apart from one who practically whipped my wife's plate away when she hadn't actually finished. Very disappointed, won't be back.
