Porta in Trafford

Conveniently located this is a good choice for tapas. We were lucky to get a table since due to cold weather outdoor seating was not a good option. Please note that this restaurant does not take reservation. All the tapas dishes we ordered were really tasty. Service was prompt and efficient. Seating arrangement and comfort was ok. Choice of wine and beers were quite good. Overall we had a good time but I find the prices to be a bit expensive compared to the portions they serve.

Fantastic in every way We had the queen scallops which were superb, along with the prawns which were cooked to perfection. The young waiter (as all the staff) was so friendly and attentive I just want to go back! Amazing really as we were about to walk past as it doesn’t look that inviting!

First time in a while back at Porta and didn’t disappoint. Every dish was superb - highlight being the lamb meatballs and pan con tomate. Lovely Albariño wine. And great service by the young man on the top floor - a real credit to the business! We won’t leave it as long to return next time!

As always the food was delicious! I love that you have different specials each time I'm visiting. From the latest meal I can recommend: steak, broccoli with ajo blanco, croquetas, blue cheese with honey, and as always gordal olives!

Delicious food great wine and busy and vibrant atmosphere

The venue is a old house / shop facing Altrincham market and if you like unmatched furniture, brick walls and exposed floor boards - this place is for you. This place operates a no reservation / walk in policy and when we got there it was full, but for one table which we gratefully took. The drinks and food orders were efficiently taken and all came in a timely manner. My colleague and I had various dishes, and each one was very enjoyable, the pickled Anchovies were different and not fishy at all. All in all a very enjoyable meal and a new nice place - if I had to contrast it, I would say if you like the Manchester Evunas you will like Porta. Go and enjoy.

Food was lovely my favorite was the broccoli with roasted almonds and red peppers. The fritta was not at its best but everything else delisous

Porta has been a favourite of ours for a few years with a great variety of tapas however our recent visit found the menu lacking in any really inviting tatalising tapas dishes of real substance that used to be offered here. The dishes are basic tapas with nothing special. The croquettes were very poor mainly tasting of flour. I think the menu reflects the cost of living times we find ourselves in. The produce is probably hard to source nowadays are too expensive annexample being..Porta used to serve the best Ox cheek dish with morrell mushrooms an absolute winner but sadly more due to sourcing..where are the knock out dishes Porta please find your sparkle again as we were so dissapointed with the fayre on offer.

Terrible place.First off given a wobbly table that resulted in drinks falling off table.Didnt get them replaced free.Then one of the prawn tapas was freezing cold and could have put me in A&E.Disgusting.Look folks,you work hard all work,steer clear of vile places like this that have zero respect for its customers.

Food superb! Atmosphere both inside and outside superb! Staff cannot do enough for you and the service is spot on. Hard to find good tapas spots but this is definitely one of the best!

Absolutely delicious food and a great atmosphere … we dined here a few nights ago when we were staying in Altrincham whilst visiting family during the week and had a night to ourselves. The food was amazing … definitely worth a visit. Great selection of tapas dishes, great service from both front of house and the waitresses. If you are in the local area - one not to miss out on. We didn’t need to make a reservation as we were there mid week, although it did get very busy whilst we were there.

Truly amazing Tapas. Tied for my favorite in all of Manchester. Attentive, friendly staff; delicious dishes with some trult excellent variety and some very enticing specials. The venue and atmosphere only serves to further add to the experience. If you enjoy Tapas you must give this place a go

I visited today for the first time whilst visiting family in the area. The staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was amazing. Just enough to choose from but not too much that you can't decide. We shared 5 dishes between two of us and it was enough to fill us. Would highly recommend.

Our first visit to Porta and it was fantastic. Authentic Spanish tapas which was delicious (the daily special was the dish of the night,) everything was really tasty. Loved the bar, and really impressed it served non alcoholic draft Spanish beer on tap. Staff were really friendly and efficient but not in your face. Highly recommend, we will definitely go back! Lovely little tapas place. In good weather it's nice to sit outside. Inside is not dog friendly so pray for good weather if you plan to come with your dog. The wines (especially the rioja) are great and all the dishes and service were excellent. I will be returning!

Phenomenal tapas, incredible staff, went back the next night to try the rest of the menu. Can’t recommend enough

Enjoyed another great tapas at Porta, we had Pan con tomate, Padron peppers, Patatas Bravas, Broccoli, Prawns, scallops and a couple of specials. All the food was excellent and there the dish consisted of three elements, they happily added a forth so we could all enjoy. Happily recommend Porta.

Located in the heart of Altrincham the tapas venue is well placed. The food was excellent the staff were really friendly and it was value for money. Will definitely return and try other options from the great food menu.

Just had lunch here and as I’ve seen someone else say, I don’t often write reviews but the tapas here is fantastic. The service was excellent with a beer recommendation that I could have drunk several of had it not been lunchtime. Would highly recommend

Lovely cozy place, great staff and tasty food. I enjoyed having a glass of sherry with the tapas whilst catching up with friends, we all felt comfortable, relaxed and well fed - couldn’t have asked for more!

Great location next to the market so on a nice day you can sit outside watching the world go by. Photos are blue cheese with pickled walnuts and honey, patatas bravas and the lamb meatballs. Staff were very pleasant.

We called in on the off chance and had 4 tapas dishes. They were served quickly and piping hot. I would thoroughly recommend Porta.

Went here tonight, but it was not nearly as nice as the last time we went. The most disappointing thing was the 11.50 paid for the scallops. If they were queen scallops, they were the smallest I have ever been served. My advice to the manager is if you're going to sell such tiny scallops at 11.50, take them off the menu because people like me will whinge. It also does a disservice to the chefs who are surely ashamed of putting out such tiny portions.

Always a good meal here, especially if you like your tapas. Sea bream with chick peas was an excellent special, the iberican pork, choritzo & lentils and blue cheese with honey/walnuts are also menu favourites. A regular venue for us. Well worth a visit. A+++

Wonderful authentic Tapas - we had a very good lunch and could have whiled the entire afternoon away grazing on the tapas and enjoying their wines! We called in for lunch at the weekend and loved it. Lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere and friendly service. The food was excellent - we had king prawns, meatballs, dried beef, patatas bravas, omelette and broccoli. All dishes were delicious and served quickly. We will definitely be back.

We love this place, it’s informal, friendly, can’t book, great service, good value and most importantly the food is fantastic. Enjoyed a fabulous lunch today. Porta had been recommended by many friends and Trip Advisor reflected the compliments. We were looked after by Kieran who did a fantastic job describing the wines and various menu items we were interested in. We were made to feel really welcome and will definitely be back. It's ok but not as good as the estilo mailbox Birmingham. The patatas bravas is mainly a crispy chips poured with chilly sauce.

A new favourite! We visited the day before our wedding for a much needed pit-stop. Your olives are amazing!

Really good tapas. We like to sit outside late afternoon/early evening. Cold Estrella, great tapas and wonderful people watching. The Presa, whilst expensive, is superb. The Calamari is authentic, several small full squid, nicely cut into Hula Hoop sized pieces, best we've had locally for a long time. A lot of people seem to arrive, order a few plates and eat as a meal. Would thoroughly recommend ordering one to three plates to share with each or alternate rounds and stretching out the experience. Highly recommended.

Excellent food , drink and staff , we sat outside as weather was warm and sunny , but experience spoilt by smokers and vapers , pity as didn’t want to sit inside as nice weather

After visiting the Chester restaurant we were expecting the same standard of food. We were really disappointed in every dish we ordered, very bland! We gave it a 3/10 and won’t be returning. I hope this isn’t a reflection on the future of the Chester...

Porta has a wide selection of traditional Spanish tapas dishes with some specials occasionally fusioned along side. The drinks are traditional and modern, the atmosphere at most, early on is nice and relaxed, once busy it does seem to be very hectic but that’s surely the sign of a good place to eat drink and socialise. Our recommendation is to head out early after opening times, for a relaxed early lunch of tea and if your after starting or finishing the night off well it’s an amazing place to head too. No reservations though, so it’s just a show up and take a chance, although they do offer a call back service once a table for your requirements becomes free! Fully AC for inside dining, great outdoor covered space at the front also. Price was more than I wanted to spend, but I don’t honestly mind spending good money on good food and service, so for me 10/10. Lovely staff, lovely visually inside, great food, good atmosphere . Well done porta, and thank you 👍🏻

Have reviewed before and promised a return. Did so and was not disappointed. Great food, lovely staff, no complaints but.....There are compromises. Its small and can feel cramped owing to its popularity. Rather than your regular restaurant, think of it more as a bar with *very* tasty snacks and you'll 'get' it. Expect to wait! The food is incredibly good but as with everything lately its getting a little pricey... £75-ish for 2 people with beers.... just about justifiable. However we left stuffed to the gills with the best of food and very contented. Highly recommended, will return for our next 'special occasion'. PS - shout out to the kitchen staff - you produce fab food - we really appreciate your work!!!

I had not had tapas before and it was excellent. I probably over ordered. The beer barrel was being changed and there was a 10 minute delay. So they compensated by making the beer complimentary. I really enjoyed the variety of plates. Great service.

Great night out. Food wonderful. Great staff. Don’t sit downstairs if u want to hear yourself speak! Easy to get a table at 7 on a Friday night. Don’t bother with the Sangria. Could have done with a bit of body.

A small tapas and wine bar opposite the market with average, reasonably priced food and good service. I asked if they had a white rioja , they said no but recommended the rioja rosada. It was light, bright and fresh tasting. I may go back...
