I've been here three times for dinner and each time the food has been excellent, would recommend.

This is a nice little spot and yet another addition to Sale's dining experience. My only real gripe is the cost of tapas style servings.It really isn't value for money. I recognise how different cult it is to run a business particularly in the current climate but the cost of each dish is just that bit too much

Always like to try independent restaurants and Petisco did not disappoint. Travelled up from Liverpool on recommendation and was well worth the journey. The environment and atmosphere was fantastic; very tastefully decorated. Staff were extremely attentive and polite, Ruby and Kasey, thank you very much. Really great to see into the kitchen, a nice touch to see Rose and others preparing the food. All were full of smiles and cheeriness. The food was incredible, one of the best meals we’ve eaten in a long time. Couldn’t fault it one bit, couldn’t pick a favourite as it was all delicious… so you’re safe no matter what you choose. Would well recommend a visit. I am certain we will be back. Thank you 😁

Absolutely delicious meal tonight at Petisco. I had the pork belly and the sweet potato croquette. Also shared some new potatoes, broccoli and rice. Cannot fault any of it...tasty and piping hot. The staff were welcoming and accommodating (even though we got stuck in traffic and were 30 mins late!). Would highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back.

Came here last year for my birthday for the first time after hearing great things about the place. The girl who greeted us said they had no record of my booking despite them having all the details that I provided over the phone at the time of the booking, so it was clearly an error on their behalf. I was then blamed for giving incorrect card details when I booked, even though I was never asked for that information over the phone! There was no apology or attempt to rectify the situation apart from offering us a couple of bar stools to eat from which we weren't interested in as we had 'booked' a table weeks in advance and travelled half an hour to get there so we were looking forward to a nice meal. Really disappointing and poor customer service. A very bad experience of the restaurant unfortunately.

An excellent experience with a wide range of delicious tapas, shared by five of us, and attentive, friendly service from the Petisco team.

Some of my friends weren't impressed with the food (I don't know what's wrong with them), but I have to say: OMG! I seldom get meals that perfectly melts in my mouth! Their meatballs and potatoes in tomato sauce are unbeatable! The other meals are lovely too. The service is friendly and normal. Atmosphere is calm and I like the interior design.

Me and my partner have been here many times for lunch and dinner. The food is always amazing and fresh, the staff are lovely and it’s definitely one of the best places to eat in Manchester. Would highly recommend!

The food wA,excellent and iwould certainly go back the steak and potatoes were exceptional and a,decent portion and to my mind correctly priced. However they were closing the kitchen and had forgotten my cauliflower it took 7 mins to make so not labour intensive but was a,two spoon portion literally and Ithe charge was £9.85 and seemed disproportionate veven so I would recommend everything else the staff were solicitous and interested in what we thought of the food I did mention the cauliflower in my otherwise positive feedback

I think Petisco is my favourite restaurant. I live in Manchester City Centre but make the trip to Sale for this place. The food is out of this world, seriously. Amazing vegetarian options too. Proper 'how do they do that?' stuff. Really good value for the quality too. All of the staff are also perfect, very personable and knowledgable - a real asset to this institution. Atmosphere perfect too. Comfortable seating, good lighting, great music (at a perfect sound level)... Even the hand soap is the best ! 😂 It's really nice to see that the place attracts such a varied crowd too, that definitely says a lot about a venue. So yeah, go and visit this place at the next opportunity. We're very lucky to have this place. Big love!

We have been here a few times and are yet to be disappointed - Valentine's day was no exception. The set menu was really tasty, before we even got to sample it. We have had Taster Menus before and can only say that the pricing was fair, including the wine pairing (which was an additional £29 pp). We didn't go for the wine pairing, though. Oysters on ice, pickled hot sauce - these were huge! And really tasty.. Breaded quail egg, chanterelles, tuberas vinaigrette - we both really loved these, the flavours were quite strong, but didn't detract from the delicacy of the egg. Pork bochecha, barriga de porco cabbage, batatas Portuguese, ginja sauce - this was fabulous! Salt cured cod, artichoke, okra, peri peri - delicious and firm fish was tasty (if we were ordering this on another visit, we might have asked for a little more chilli) Lamb rack, guisado, port syrup - we've never had this before and we loved it. Vinho verde poached plum, almonds, Licor 35 - definitely the dish of the evening for us! The "ice cream" looked and tasted a bit like a Panacotta? I LOVED it! The team were on top of their game, as always... reinforcing our decision to keep visiting this fabulous restaurant...

Had the valentines menu that was advertised at £94. Thought this was for two people but no it was each person….6 tapas shared so one oyster each, one quail egg each etc plus a glass of chosen wine each for each course £188 plus vat a total rip off and will not be going there again

First time for us and it was excellent. Service was second to none with a lot of care put into catering to an allergy. All food delicious and fresh, and a welcome Portuguese change from the usual Spanish tapas restaurants we go to.

We have just had an amazing meal - everything so full of flavour! We started with the breads with paprika and salted butter and oil - wonderful selection ! We then had the new potatoes with tomato and caramelised onion aioli and the broccoli with almond and hazelnuts . We had this with tasty cod fritters . Our next was the pork belly and pig cheek - which just melted in your mouth. The steak came next which was so tender and with such a tasty sauce . We were also given a most delicious sweet potato fritter - the flavour was amazing. All in all one of the best meals we have had in a long time - a great little gem of a restaurant for Sale ! Well done to all the staff who were all lovely !!

We booked Petisco last minute online on Saturday early evening between Xmas and New Yr. The food is excellent. We had houmas ,green beans,steak,potatoes ,chicken skeker and meat balls. I highly recommend Petisco and staff are lovely,helpful and friendly. Can't wait to return.

Met up with friend for catch up they did not mention that we only had the table for an 1 hour and 15. THEN asked is we wanted a dessert and only had 15 mins when I had just ordered more wine when I questioned them they were very dismissive The Tapas restaurant had been recommended by friends but will not go again after 1 hour and £85pounds lighter Very disappointed Ruined the evening Was not relaxing felt uncomfortable

Fantastic meal. Very reasonable pricies. Every dish was proper tasty. Wildboar and beef meatballs were fantastic, short rib was delicious, fried battered green beans...amazing. Will definitely be visiting again

First visit & we'll definitely be back. Recommended by our favourite plant shop also in The Square, Green & Grounded. Busy & vibrant on an early evening ( 5.15pm ish Sat) but just room for 2 at the window bar seats Service lovely & with a smile. Small plates were generous. 2 dishes each plus shared Borlotti Bean Hummus was plenty of food for us. Fab vegetarian plus meat/ fish menu choices. Big wine list. Crianza red wine a delicious choice Every dish looked & tasted delicious . Extra shout out for the totally scrummy tomato rice & meat ball plates Best Portuguese dishes we've tried anywhere locally & that includes Altrincham. Credit to whoever the chefs are. If you are local to or just visiting SSq pop in here!

False advertising, not Portuguese food.

Gorgeous lunch. Lunch deal was on - 3 dishes for £17. Amazing value, delicious food and fabulous service.

Two of us went on a Saturday lunch time. Serving staff were lovely and the place looks great but I told them I was pregnant and they still served me food I couldn't eat (extra ingredients that weren't on the menu). They were lovely about it and struck it off the bill but this could be very dangerous so training is needed really. There were only a few Portuguese things on the menu, the rest was very similar to Spanish tapas.

Great food - "small plates" style but loads of food on the plates and left feeling completely stuffed after 6 dishes between the two of us! Atmosphere is nice and the staff were brilliant - really friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Oh, and the Pasties de Nata are amazing - do not miss out on those!

We were looking for a fairly quick lunch in Sale - and chanced on Petisco. It was simply stunning, the best small plates that both my wife and I have ever had. Great little place, super atmosphere and service, and the dishes just blew us away... and we've been to lots of great restaurants doing small plates. We had bread, broccoli, padron peppers, meatballs, pork belly+pig cheek, and octopus. The portions were excellent, presentation really good and the taste sublime. Difficult to pick the best. We will be returning soon!

Excellent array of dishes. Fantastic service. Lovely inviting and cosy atmosphere. We really enjoyed our time here. The empanadas were AMAZING- the pastry just melted in your mouth! We also loved the cod fritters, prawns, hummus. Everything was delicious and totally different to Spanish tapas.

A gorgeous early dinner. The vegetarian dishes were our favourites. The rice, potatoes and green beans were particularly delicious. We had a Portuguese custard tart each for pudding. They were moreish. The staff are really lovely, friendly and helpful. We would definitely visit again.

Firstly the service was excellent, the welcome was warm, and the vibes were good. For us, too much oil and salt were employed in the dishes we had. Freshness would have been welcome as opposed to deep frying. Pork belly was good. Ingredients were good quality, but every dish was salty and oily. Sorry guys.

We’ve been 4 times now and this place is consistently great. The service is friendly and the place is comfortable but the food is excellent! Thanks for bringing it to Sale. In fact, the menu contains a few dishes that I’d rank among some of the most delicious I’ve ever had… The new potatoes are absolutely sensational, perfectly seasoned with 2 amazing sauces. The meatballs are truly outstanding. The clams were excellent, the peri chicken and salt cod croquettes were both very good, the pork belly is delicious, even the bread is quality! There were a few misses for me (the octopus and the tomato rice) but that’s just personal preference. Ultimately, there are just too many hits on the menu to give it anything but 5 stars. I could happily never eat anything but your potatoes and meatballs for the rest of my life! 😂

I visited today with my daughters and rhe food was absolutely delicious. The service by Olivia was outstanding. It was my first time visiting Sale and I'd definitely go again.

Really good local Portuguese spot with great food and service. Nestled in Stanley Square, we took our 5 year old and she enjoyed it too. Lots of options, but we loved the flat iron steak and chimichurri, the salt cod fritters and the octopus salad.

A lovely change from the usual curry, chinese or italian places. All cooked to order. We recommend chicken skewers, breads, sardines, and potatoes, in fact most of it. A couple of tables outside, makes you feel you are on holiday. Cosy atmosphere inside. Lovely helpful staff. We'll be back

Came here yesterday and it was delightful! I'd heard really good things so booked a table for 5.30 in the hope it would be quieter as it's only a small restaurant. It quickly got busy and it was quite difficult to chat at times but that's no fault of the restaurant - there were at least 2 birthday parties in! The food was delicious! I especially enjoyed the potatoes and the meatballs but the brocoli was also lovely. I would have liked more goats cheese than we got but never mind. None of our party tried any fish dishes but a couple floated past and they looked good! The nata to finish was also perfect, not too greasy and a good amount of crispy! We have said we will definitely go back as there were plenty more dishes we wanted to try and for such a small kitchen I was really impressed.

The waitress was lovely and chatty. The food was very tasty. A little bit pricey but unusual and we liked every single dish.

Popped in on a whim and have to say we really liked it. The rumours are true! We had food👀 envy of other regular guests . We did however enjoy our own order all delicious.

For our first time visit. It was ok, but I wish it could have been better. We had the sweet potato croquette, which I tried a bit of the inside, as it wasn't gluten free. It was really delicious and I wished it had been. We had the whole sea breeze between us and I could eat it again. Was scummy. My only wish for this and all the new restaurants is there is a better gluten free range. Just because I cant have gluten doesnt mean I dont want to eat out. I'd still like places locally to be able to eat that offers more than 'salads' as a gf alternative. There are plenty of gluten free bread, pastas etc that could be offered. Think about it 😁

Only ok I'm afraid. Firstly, the dishes on offer have absolutely nothing Portuguese about them - something picked up in a few reviews here. Secondly, they are rather bland and lacking in flavour. I wanted to be blown away but was left with average, lukewarm small plates that were under seasoned and rather over priced. The sangria was £20, which I did not think was too bad after being told it was 1L. However, it was not 1L. It was a 1L jug filled to the brim with ice and topped up with sangria. Ended up enough for two and a half glasses. Venture to San Juan's in Chorlton for proper tapas!

Been wanting to try Petisco for a while now, and whilst we enjoyed our meal, I won't be rushing back. The food was nice enough, if not a bit overpriced for what it was, and I was expecting it to be more.... Portuguese. Couldn't fault staff or service, so an extra star.

We have been a few times as the food is tasty and there is quite a good selection of options. However. When we went today and wanted to have the octopus, they advised us that they don’t serve the octopus outside and there is a different menu for the outside tables. The server did ask the manager (I presume?)and they refused. So we left. We did not want to sit inside when the weather is lovely and the interior is just so dark. Disappointing management and we are not planning to go again.

Our baby was taken ill just as we arrived and sat down. This was no fault at all of Petisco but the team couldn’t have been better and they really went out of their way to help us. We were excited for the menu but will be going back (probably multiple times) due to the brilliance of the staff.

With such a large group (9) we were able to try most of the items on the menu. Every dish was well presented and delicious. Great service and atmosphere. Will definitely come again.

Food was boarder line average. Sardines were tasteless, the meatballs were warm and served with what was tinned tomato’s. The flatbread was soggy and not toasted at all, nothing much to write home about. Not a patch on El Gato Negro in Manchester ! Wouldn’t...

I genuinely think this is the nicest meal I’ve ever had. Me and some friends came in for lunch, the waitresses were lovely and the food came quickly. The sangria tasted amazing, all the food was impeccable quality, we paid such a little price for ten plates. I can’t fault it at all, the pig cheek especially- it cut like butter and melted in the mouth. I will 100% be back!

Had a warm welcome and shared 5 gorgeous tapas plates between two of us on an icy cold Saturday afternoon. Delicious food, imaginative and authentic combinations, thoroughly enjoyed.

My husband and I ate here late Sunday afternoon. It was quite busy but the service was really good. The food was amazing! We had the small plates and there was sooo much food!! Would definitely recommend, and we'll be back!

Absolutely amazing restaurant. Food was fantastic, and a little taste of Portugal. Everything we had was cooked to perfection, and even the pasteis de nata were good (so many in the UK just aren't the same!) Service is great. Done at a relaxed pace. Not slow... but not rushed at all, and when the food was ready, it was brought very quickly and very fresh Would definitely recommend trying to get here if you are anywhere near.

Heard a lot about this place and it doesn’t disappoint at all. It was great. All dishes were well present and tasted excellent. The chorizo empanada and octopus was a particular highlight

Quite tasty maybe verging towards salty; a little unbalanced with heavy handed one note seasoning for my taste which needed correcting with acidity, sweeness or spice. Maybe wine or beer required, and definitely bread (or rice, potatoes, lentils) just something to cut through and let...

Recommended by a friend, I booked a table for two at petisco and we were not disappointed. Fantastic food, a great service and reasonably priced.

No, this is not a Portuguese restaurant. Sangria? Spanish. Padron Peppers? Spanish. A bowl of beans? lol never in Portugal... Hummus? lol Peri-peri butter? dear lord... Please rename it to UK Tapas.

Delicious lunch. The deep fried green beans are to die for! Great vegetarian selection. I can highly recommend.

I can only speak for the vegetarian options but everything was fantastic and deceptively filling. I'd especially recommend the battered runner beans which have no right to be so addictive

The best meal I have had in known memory. Preferably go in a group of four or more as you'll want to try everything on the menu. There's a reason its always booked up.

So far up it's own bum it's untrue. Went in spent hundreds of pounds as a group and still treated like a piece of dirt. Emails ignored. Food was lovley although over priced.

Wow, what a menu. It's so good we ordered practically everything on it, and it didn't disappoint. The staff are really helpful and friendly, and the venue is lovely inside. Would recommend visiting.

The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. They have a lot of gluten free options on the menu which is great and the service was very good. Definitely recommend!

Almost incredible! At least for our tastes. I feel like the meats we had (pork belly and short rib) were just lacking one element on the plate, something to cut through the richness. Maybe a raisin salsa or something with the pork and a sour cream with the beef. Could not fault how the meat was cooked though. Runner beans I thought were a bit oily but tasty, Sardines and octopus were good, again just so nearly incredible, I think personally for me I would prefer a sweeter pickle on the onions if you're going to do it. The potatoes were the best dish in my opinion. Service was great and really nice vibe inside, plenty of guests so obviously doing something right - enjoyed the house wine but would like to see some menu changes before we return. Overall glad we have a place like this on our doorstep!

Really nice different food - Portuguese tapas, well worth a visit. Eaten here twice now and been very happy with it on both occasions. Its a small restaurant, and has very attentive staff. For the size of the kitchen they really do make some tasty food. Highly recommended

As a portuguese person I'm offended they call this portuguese food. Not even close! It's like going to a pub, order fish & chips and get salmon with pasta. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Amazing food as always! Been here a few times and the staff and service is great but the food is amazing. You won’t get better tapas anywhere else!
