Poppy's Cafe in Epping Forest

We were highly recommended this place for breakfast. We were told it was the best breakfast in the world. We arrived and were seated. We ordered the traditional breakfast and a Mediterranean breakfast with extra toast. The food arrived cold. Mushroom was stone cold, bacon lukewarm, beans cold, sausage Luke warm. Toast arrived cold. I went up to complain and was shown where the food is precooked and placed in a useless heat drawer. The food is not cooked to order and clearly cooked in advance and left in the heat draw. The beans were returned twice as they were cold. The waitress told me to eat the beans in a hurry. That would not matter as the cold beans would still be cold. Another customer returned his food. I complained about the taste of the not fresh olives and the overall poor quality food. If you like cold tasteless food, served from a jar then this is for you. I expected a well cooked breakfast with fresh ingredients and hot toast. We will never return and rate this place as below basic standards. Food must be cooked to order and be fresh not from a jar.

A little gem... Not fast food and I was a bit concerned as I had to wait longer than I had expected for my 'Early Starter Breakfast' to arrive, but my Cappuccino arrived rapidly. One of the best Cappuccino's I have had in a long time... Delicious! When my meal arrived, I admit that it was well worth the wait: the bacon was thick, the tomatoes were sliced and grilled to perfection, the hash browns were piping hot and the scrambled eggs were fluffy... Obviously, everything had been cooked to order, nothing was reheated and it was Yummy! I did like the fact that everything was slightly under seasoned... allowing the guests to add salt and pepper to their personal tastes.

The male waiter came to take our order, my Partner ordered his meal first. Then we each gave him our orders. Our meals arrived but not my Partner’s, he asked for the salt beef same as our friend who had started eating his. He asked why was he waiting, the lady waiter (who was very good) said that he did not want anything to eat, that was what the guy had written down.!!!!!!! Unfortunately the salt beef was not edible so our friend and my Partner ordered something else. Which was really nice.

Poppy’s is a great local place for a quick bite. Good portions. Always busy and popular yet they always find seating for you.

Took my mum here for her birthday with my sister for breakfast and the food was so fresh and tasty the staff were very attentive and friendly the atmosphere was really warm and recommended 100% to anyone looking for good food and vibes

Male waiter had no manners whatsoever, He was quite rude when talking to us. I even saw him being the same way with other customers, hurrying them along and making them move out of his way. The female waitress was lovely and polite! Food was brilliant though.

Excellent range of options for breakfast and lunch, with friendly and attentive customer service. A local favourite of ours!

He really needs to smile or if he doesn’t want to be there then stay away !! Let the people who have always worked so well .. look after the place .. we absolutely love this place .. but really he puts a right damper on his business.. Maybe he just doesn’t care because it’s always busy !! So if your staying then smile and be nice !! End of !! 🙂

Have been coming to Poppy's for many years now and with each year it gets better. The food is always amazing and the service is always fast and efficient. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Went for a brunch on a Sunday and had a great meal. Hadn't been since the revamp and it is done very tastefully and feels very comfortable. Service was very quick and the selection was diverse enough to appeal to many people. Whilst there isn't a huge range for vegans, they are there but vegetarians fare a lot better and carnivores significantly more so. Based on our order, I think they keep the menu manageable and whatever is sold is done perfectly. Our Eggs Florentine, Eggs Royale and Shakshuka hit the spot and whilst freshly cooked, were delivered quickly. All meals were scrumptious although I reckon the Eggs were more filling than the Shakshuka. Perhaps a little more sauce and a couple of extra slices of toast would not go amiss. I personally found the cappuccino needed an extra shot of coffee for the amount of milk in the large mug but the others disagreed. If you like it strong, I would suggest ordering an extra shot. The restaurant was clean, seating was fast, service was efficient, staff were friendly and very helpful. Overall, I would certainly make my way back there and try out other items on the menu.

Such a lovely restaurant the food is amazing tastes delicious and very reasonably priced the staff are such lovely people I felt so welcomed definitely one of the best cafés I’ve been to.

Visited at lunchtime with a friend for the first time. The cafe was packed, so much so that we were asked to move from a 4 seater table to a crammed 2 seater table, even though a couple had their dog taking up a seat on a chair who were also sitting in a 4 seater table, why does a dog need a chair! We visited as a family whilst in Epping. It was very busy and we managed to get a table. Very big choices on menu. Service was very friendly.
