An excellent local family friendly pub with nice food, nice staff and nice people in a very nice setting with beer garden. Recommended!

Huge Sunday roast, best I’ve had in a long time. Couldn’t finish it. Felt fit for a king post battle. Lovely staff and cute decorations for the spooky season.

Not for vegans! Our friends booked this restaurant. They called ahead to reserve a table and specifically asked if they had vegan options and was told they had a "vegan menu" so they booked and paid a deposit. On arrival, I asked for the vegan menu only to be told that any vegan options would be on the main menu. There was 1 vegan option on the entire menu - a curry. The waitress said that they could custom some vegetarian meals but this was clearly another fib. The 2 options could not be "veganised". Staff were clueless about the ingredients, which would be worrying if anyone had a serious allergy. The waitress had to keep going back/forth to the kitchen to ask and seemed put out that I was asking. One of the options, a nut roast, was not even vegetarian let alone vegan. The vegetables are covered in butter, the carrots are honey-glazed and the roast potatoes are cooked in animal fat! The other option was a bean burger which could be served without the bun, as it was brioche, so I went with this option. Nearly 90 minutes later, the waitress came over with the dessert menu and we had not even received our starters!! My friend order a chicken salad which turned out to be a thin piece of chicken breast on a limp bed of rocket. My friend's husband ordered beef roast and was given lamb. My burger was undercooked and mushy. The chips were so burnt they were inedible. Everything on my plate was cold. Same for my husband. He literally had 5 chips on his plate and they were burnt and cold too. Service was VERY slow. Our table was booked for 2pm and we left at 4:45pm. Other diners were complaining about the wait for food too. I was so hungry when we left the pub that I made a sandwich when I got home. My friend who ate the chicken was ill a few hours afterwards. £179 for terrible food. Never again.

The perfect local family pub restaurant. Food is great and, if the sun is shining, a table outside looking over the forest is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Lovely pub for a sunny summers day. Plenty of outdoor seating. Service was good, very friendly staff! Great selection in the menu, I had a pizza, thin crispy base 🔥🔥. Highly recommend if in the area

Was very disappointed to pay £7.50 aprox for a large Vodka to see under the counter it was a cheap nasty bottle from Lidl or similar! Joke should at least be Smirnoff for that price. £19 for two glasses of wine, not even nice wine, shame as its a lovely pub but wont be returning

Bar staff are brilliant had a few nice lagers outside with the local cockneys seeing who can shout loudest ...amusing..... Loughton is the shouting capital of europe

Staff are super friendly and super helpful. Food is amazing, had the Sunday roast and it was very generous in portion size and very tasty. Pub also has a really nice vibe. Highly recommend.

Great home cooked food in a pleasant spot overlooking the forest. Excellent veg curry in particular. Will come again

Everything it's fine, but they need to get better cutlery

Don't be surprised if the table you reserved will be taken by someone else and the management will be rude with you afterwards.

English pub where you eat well and drink good beer.

Literally cancelled 1 hour before our booking via email, as we were leaving our house. What's the point in an online booking system if it is ignored?? Rude and unprofessional. Better places to go, we ended up at another local gastro pub that took us in when they heard we were let down last minute!

Overall good experience and they catered to our needs being a large group and ordering ahead. Portion sizes were bit small for price, but overall a recommended place to visit and overlooking Epping Forest!

Used to come in here and the quality hasn’t got much better. Had a pie the other day. Was awful. Cold and stodgy. Beers didn’t taste good either.

The service is great and the food is tremendous. The pub is an hours drive from our home and we will do the drive again to eat here.

Followed the fabulous owners from their other venue to here in order to try their Sunday Roasts and omg it was perfection. Staff are loud and smiley and make you feel like your their mates, owners remember a face and even sent a drink. Lamb was unreal. crispy potatoes. thick gravy!! wow!! cant sing the praises enough. and lastly you step outside to THE VIEW. I could across the full forest. what a place feels like a bit of home Booking again for next month!!

Has great service and their pizza was excellent for a pub. Would recommend for an inexpensive meal out.

Very cozy pub. Staff was very friendly and making sure we were allright. They allow dogs in, most enjoyed seeing some cute dogs. They have a great outside terras with a lovely view. Food was great and genereus. So, if you pass by and feel like an ale or food, be sure to visit!

Tucked down a turning off the beaten track with beautiful views over Epping Forest. Food was great and staff were lovely. The ONLY downside was the parking !!!

I had a lovely lunch here with my sister and partner. All of us really enjoyed our food, we left very pleasantly full! Staff were also very kind and attentive.

Great easy dining with newly refurbed interior Friendly staff and varied menu Alway worth a visit anytime of the year lovely garden in warm weather and good fun in winter as if there is snow on the ground people go tobogging as there is a perfect slope to whizz down

Visited Foresters Arms for the first time today for a Birthday lunch, it was a sunny busy day and due to no fault of their own the pub was short staffed - despite longer than anticipated food wait times the staff were very friendly, explained the situation and tried their absolute best to accommodate us- a big thank you to David who went above and beyond to ensure our little one wasn’t waiting for her food. When the food came we were really pleased with our food and the quality and will ensure to return again.

We have not been in The Foresters Arms since pre-covid forgot what a great pub it is. Great food, excellent beer's and wines. Look forward to returning.

We popped in here late afternoon on bank holiday. The atmosphere and vibe was great - we found a lovely seat overlooking the park. When the sun was out it was idyllic. We tried to order food, but was told to ‘come back in 15 minutes’. I said we were happy to wait, but was told I couldn’t even join the queue. When I came back 15 minutes later, there was a queue of people all ordering food and jumping ahead of me in the queue. IMO they should have just took the order and advised a longer wait. Anyway, when the food arrived it was tasty and as I said - we were happy to wait!

Nice well cooked food and lots of dogs and kids on a Saturday lunchtime. Bit more of a restaurant feel than a pub. Good anchor point for a forest walk. Parked for free on the roadside.

The Foresters is opposite Epping Forest. It has a large beer garden. The food was really nice (I had a sandwich) and the staff very friendly.

Food was very average and overpriced. And adding 15 per cent service for 2 people was not good either.

Good food, friendly staff, lovely location. Reasonably priced 3 courses with a couple of drinks £50 each. Nice outside space, but weather abysmal so never got to use it. Parking not great, beware of permit parking area outside.

When we arrived we were seated outside. However, on the next table was a particularly obnoxious customer how was being extremely difficult with the waitress. She handle the situation very professionally & later apologised to us over the person’s behaviour. Excellent service, great Sunday lunch.

Unfortunately as we only fancied something snacky we decided on Jacket potatoes for the price of 9 quid each the portion size and quality of the potato was extremely disappointing

It's a hidden gem in the neighborhood. It may seem like a local pub where residents gather, but the food is excellent and the atmosphere is great. The serving staff is also friendly, and the beer is always fresh!

Lovely pub around the epping forest We started walking from the northern side of epping forest, and when we got here we desperately needed some water and place to sit We were offered tap water with ice (!!!), and the lunch menu, piri piri chicken and chicken curry were so good !!!! Outside terrace is looking down the green grass of epping forest, and the fresh air breeze will help you to relax for a while Love this place

Wonderful spot near Epping Forest. We visited on a bank holiday weekend and were lucky enough to find a table outside with no booking. Admittedly the pub was very busy and the staff a little overwhelmed, but food arrived relatively promptly and service was friendly. The food exceeded expectations (fabulous chips and beautiful presentation!) and the pub is very dog-friendly - would definitely recommend and return!

Nice pub, great location, but very expensive and way overpriced..

I asked to order food three times over a period of 50 minutes. The waitress initially told me to wait 20 minutes, then 30 minutes. When I decided to ask someone else, they informed me that they were no longer serving food and wished me luck. They were only serving people with booked tables. If you're passing by and looking for quality, I would advise against going here as they clearly treat customers poorly if it is convenient for them.

We have a lovely Mother's Day lunch in the pub. The food was delicious and the service perfect. I can strongly recommend this place for a special occasion or just a quiet pint in their delightful garden.

Sam and David helped us plan a lovely wake for my father, they were very helpful and the food was really good, and plenty of it. We had lots of comments from the guests about how lovely it was.

Couldn't have picked a better place to host our Christmas get-together with friends. We were a table of 16 for dinner and drinks, not an easy task but all the food was awesome and the service was great. Everyone was happy and great communication from the pub in the days leading up to the booking which helped me as the orgniasor especially as I was abroad. Thanks so much guys, we had a great experience and a wonderful evening

A lovely "Country Pub" on the edge of Loughton with lovely views over the forest ... BUT - NO ENGLISH BEER !!! - The "Handpumps have been removed and replaced by a variety of Lagers and Ciders - but NO Ales (not even bottles!) - "No call for it" we were informed ! The Bar /Restaurant was VERY cold - the radiators were all off and the only source of heat (such as it was) was from a ceiling mounted A.C. Unit. We opted for the "Sunday Roast" and to be fair, the Lamb was lovely and one of our party had the Pork - however, on asking for Apple sauce, was told that there was none but she could have mustard or horse radish sauce !!! The Yorkshire puds were huge - but unfortunately over done and dried out. The deserts sounded nice but when served up were nothing like they were described ...... What a shame, it could be such a nice Pub - but we wont be going there again!

Four of us went today for Sunday lunch. When I walked in, I thought it was Battersea Dogs’ Home. I’m a real dog lover but the smell was so off-putting. I asked for a fresh air spray to be sprayed on the floor where a dog had previously been sitting at my table ,but was declined. Although the food was good, and I know it’s a dog friendly pub, I’ll never go back to eat there for Sunday lunch or anytime in the evening unless you want to believe you’re sitting in a kennel with the smell!

We have been going here for years for lovely meals. We’ve just been for a meal after it’s been taken over by new owners and the food was just awful. Never again. Such a shame as it was great as its dog friendly. Dry roast dinners and my son said the burger and chips was also bad now served with cheap tasteless ketchup. Such a shame.

Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere, lovely location. The only reason I haven't rated them 5 stars is because they've recently changed their menu and the burger was so much nicer before. As was the halloumi and Greek salad starter!!

Food was superb, brilliant menu.. New smart decor made it look bigger. But lost some of its charm. No coffee machine or kettle to make a hot drink after a meal. Come on!!!

Came here with my other half on a Thursday night and pre booked a table for dinner. We were shown to our table and waited to be served. I went to the bar and asked if we needed to order at the bar but was told someone would be over in about 5 minutes. We waited, waited and waited for 30 more minutes to be served and with the bar staff running around like headless chickens, left without eating and went somewhere much better!!!! Would not come here again, terrible place

The staff is just unpleasant to deal with. Miles away from true British hospitality and kindness. Food is sad, bland. Service slow and inefficient. Nice outdoor area. On a side note, I Had the same impression as Ivy Gray (check her review). Just wish I had checked the reviews before coming.

Either the bar staff are highly incompetent or they are only interested in serving their mates. When you are stood at the front of the bar, it’s not unreasonable to expect to be served within 30mins. Unless you are in the clique, don’t go out of your way to visit

Great pub in a fantastic location. Beautiful views of Epping Forest. Lovely garden on a nice day, but the indoors is also cosy and a good alternative. There's a fireplace for cold winter days. They do barbecues in the garden in summer. The food is great whatever the season. It's not cheap but It's worth it.

The ambiance, the location, the food are all very good and well worth the money! The staff was very nice and helpful although just a bit disorganised. Overall a very positive experience and one I would like to repeat soon. I came here for the second time in 6 months and i can confirm that the food and the service were still incredibly good.

Been using this pub for many years and had so many amazing meals, the pub closed for refurbishment and new owners have taken over. Atmosphere still the same staff still the same decor been updated all positives but what a let down the food was. Scampi was burnt, whatever the garnish was meant to be was also burnt. Nothing like it was before, such a shame.

Seems like a great pub. Food looked good from what I saw coming out of the kitchen, but didn't eat here as we were just passing through mid-afternoon. Beers on tap are a bit limited, mainly lagers and a couple of the Beavertown (i think?) ales. Food seems reasonably priced, although certainly not cheap. Drinks were too expensive. Neck Oil and my daughter's apple juice came to £9. I presume the juice was a couple of quid so the beer must have been £7 which is a bit much in my book. Either that or those were some pricy apples! Up-market clientele. Nice beer garden. Clean and fashionable decor. If you don't mind paying a bit over the odds for your beer, and you're in the area, I'd say it's a decent place to whet your whistle.
