Stopped on the way to the coast for breakfast. Staff very friendly and attentive, but the breakfast was poor quality and value for money. Always expect to pay a little more in similar locations, but disappointed with the quality of the food. Deep fried bacon, low quality sausages and watery mushrooms. Plenty on the plate, including the grease. Can’t even say the pot of tea was OK, seeped for the duration of the meal and still came out like dishwater. Sorry folks, but won’t be back for a second sitting.

Nice cafe in lovely setting. Food not so wonderful. Undercooked pie and soggy chips. Quite empty when I went maybe as it was a rainy day? Young waitress stood looking at me most of the time I was eating and made me feel very uncomfortable. Would not visit again, sorry, as I didn’t find it very welcoming

A most delicious breakfast didn’t need another meal all day and staff really nice I am gluten free so they were so good will be there again this week we go a lot when there on holidays

Dropped in for some plants and decided to have coffee and cafe while we were there. Best decision ever. Coffees were great but the HOMEMADE cakes were amazing. Staff were lovely and attentive. Definitely be back. Well done 👏🏻👏🏻

The interior design was bland and the furniture was particularly uncomfortable, also we were sat under essentially a huge radiator. We ordered specials (beef pie and mushroom quiche) that came fantastically quick, however, the food did lack flavour and seemed as if it was closer to store bought than something that cost nearly 13 pounds. The pie was especially bad. In regards to the drinks, the coffee tasted somewhat burnt and again for the price I was really hoping for more, it was disappointing to say the least. The workers were extremely polite and attended to our requests quickly and whilst I appreciate the setting in which this caffe is and I recognize the food of which these places serve is not usually aiming for perfection. I nevertheless, regretted how much I had to spend for 2 half eaten plates of food and do not plan to come back.

We had been in Ceredigion for a day, having just moved home. We fancied something for lunch, and found Poppy’s on an internet search, not too far away. So, we popped along, on a wet Sunday afternoon, thinking a warm panini, or some hot soup would be nice. We were pleasantly surprised to find a choice of roast Sunday lunches on offer so we opted for the roast turkey, and the leg of lamb. We are not great gravy lovers, but this is usually ok as the gravy normally comes on the side when eating out before. Didn’t think to ask, but the gravy on the meal was the only downside, and the cheesecake desert was wonderful. Friendly staff.

Popped in for a hot drink. They had just made the scones. Which were delicious, with cream and jam. Excellent service too.

We have been a number of times on Sundays and found the food,and particularly the vegetables excellent. The servicee is always good. There are one or two aspects which could be improved (i) The fish choice is always the same. This was true even for the Christmas meal which is a shame as one might have hoped that differences would have occurred as the price was higher. In itself the fish course is very good but variation would be an improvement! (ii)The meat provided lets the meal down! It tastes and looks like pre-cooked brought in joints. This was for both beef and also for pork. Christmas turkey though was good. (iii)Alcohol is not available but is it possible to have bring your own with a charge for corkage etc?

This will definitely be our go to restaurant for breakfast really good quality and variety of food all freshly cooked really hot didn't have to wait long great service and a teapot instead of just a mug brilliant Thankyou

Anna the lady who served us remembered us and nothing was too much trouble. She was friendly and patient with a picky eater in the party. The food was delicious and the portions hearty. We couldn’t find room for pudding so a return visit is required soon

First time here for food WOW what a delicious Sunday roast it was masses of well cooked and seasoned veg more than enough of delicious roast beef homemade Yorkshire pudding and a really excellent gravy and for dessert homemade caramel cheesecake huge slice served with ice cream all this in a beautiful setting and lovely attentive girls waiting on can definitely recommend and will be revisiting soon

Just had a lovely breakfast at Poppy’s. Everything was cooked properly and all the items were hot. £7.95 for a brekkie with a pot of tea is great value. Great view too.

The Service is first class and the food outstanding. Great value for money. The desserts are to die for too. Feels very safe, lovely garden to sit in too ..

Ate here as a belated mother's Day lunch as it was cancelled because of lockdown and it was really nice. Everything was cooked perfectly and portion sizes were great. We had the cod and pie and they were both great They adhere to the Covid regulations professionally Will be back 👍

We drove 50 minutes from Aberdyfi (holiday location) to get my garden centre fix and was very impressed. The layout, prices, friendliness and very efficient customer service was fantastic. The restaurant food Wow!! Great portions and again very reasonable prices and exceptionally tasty homemade quiche and beef burger. Observing all track and track rules and making sure we sanatised prior to entering. Thank you to the lady who serviced us and shared a giggle about our joint lack of cooking skills. Drove past and thought I'd try it as I was feeling a bit hungry and needed to stretch form sitting for some time on the motorcycle. It looked quiet and safe to park the motorbike (I get nervous about my motorbike haha) Lovely area that's not too out the way or very near a busy area, location and parking great. Staff were wonderful friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious very good value for the quality homemade food.

We went to eat here on a Sunday afternoon. It was about 3:15 when we arrived. We waited behind the barrier to be attended to. A lady in the kitchen looked huh at us butvsaid nothing. The a lady behind the till after nearly 5 mins waiting asked if we could fill the track and trace which we had no problem with. After about another 5 minutes we wete asked if we would like to sit inside or outside. We were goingvto sit outside but there were no clear tables so we said uts ok we wil sit inside. We were sat at the table for a further period of time where staff walked passed and ignored us. The cafe was not busy only 1 other table inside and 2 outside occupied. After waiting for about 10 minutes we decided to leave as no one had served us.When my wife phoned to speak to the manager she was rude to her.In the present climate about keeping local businesses going this is one place i will not be returning to.

We're regular customers at Poppy's and always happy with the food & service provided.I booked Sunday lunch for this afternoon and as always we were incredibly happy! All safety measures were in place in like with Government guidelines. Staff were masks and thoroughly cleaned down tables, chairs & work stations regularly. Social distancing was great with tables spread apart with plenty of space for everyone. Track & Trace system when you arrive and you are greeted by a member of staff. Enter the cafe at one end and exit the other. We felt at ease and very safe (as always) during our visit today. Can't wait to come again soon! Keep up the good work.

Lovely lunch today, good food and friendly service. All safety measures in place, track and trace, well spaced tables and open doors to allow circulation of fresh air. Also witnessed thorough clean down of all vacated tables. Made us all feel very safe and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and our lunch. Thank you to all staff , you are doing a great job! Visited here for lunch with my daughter, i had the quiche off the specials board and daughter had a burger. All the food was very tasty and staff really friendly and helpful.

Left waiting 35 minutes to be served to then be told that they didn’t have any chips available to order. Serving staff looked unhappy and quite moody. Staff were clearing tables before serving tables.Have always heard good things about this cafe and was very disappointed with our experience.Ended up leaving without ordering anything.

This is a lovely tea room within a garden centre just outside Aberystwyth. I had Sunday lunch which was delicious and plentiful. On a previous visit I had bacon brie and cranberry panini. Absolutely delicious and my plate was overflowing with salad and coleslaw

Went two days on the trot we was staying local and come across this little gem Staff was friendly and breakfast was well worth the money if full English £6:25 free coffee or pot of tea ! Lots of choice and very reasonable Good home cooked food Will Definatly go back ! Garden centre not brilliant but Poppy’s is Defiantly worth a visit

A fabulous meeting place with friends for a tasty and reasonably priced choice of light lunches and afternoon tea. The garden centre surrounds a joy!

Arrived for lunch and was immediately notified of some choices not being available on the menu... so proceeded with alternatives only to be told these were also not available.. however the food that we did have in the end was absolutely lovely and loads of it. Not overall expensive.. wheelchair access is through garden centre and around the back.No dogs allowed in cafe but are allowed in Garden Centre and outside eating area.

Mid morning breakfast consisting undercooked bacon, overcooked egg, Black mushrooms in oily substance, partially redeemed by a decent hash brown, sausage, tomato and beans overall a poor breakfast, quality it was not especially at the cost

Friends who live locally told us about Poppys Cafe its about a 10 min drive out of Aberystwyth . We were not disappointed . Friendly staff and the food and service was excellent

All of the staff are super happy, very helpful and can't do enough for their customers! The food is of such a high standard! I can't wait to go back again with my partner and enjoy a lively meal together.

Good fairly basic food and delicious home-baked cakes. Fine for family lunch on Sundays or for meeting for coffee or brunch. Huge car park.

We have eaten vegan breakfasts here for many years but sadly we won’t be re visiting Today’s breakfast was awful Hready blah on a plate I saw they had a new Chef and it shows in the lack of customers eating there So sad after many years of great food

Since I last visited this place. Met friends for lunch. We all had jacket potatoes. Busy place as well visited by locals. The food was freshly made, staff friendly. The place is light & airy as it’s all glass. Nice to walk around the plants

We called here last Sunday for a cup of tea after some shopping at the garden centre. We hadn’t planned to stay for food, but I’m so glad we did!

Visited on the 13th January for Sunday lunch with my partner, we both had starters and mains and I had dessert.

Just had a wonderful Sunday Roast here today wife my wife and daughter, we all had lovely food. All food and plates were hot, tasty and reasonably priced too. My beef was very nice, and a great apple pie and custard for pudding.

I used to visit Poppy’s regularly up until a couple of years ago and always had lovely food and good service! So as I was in the garden centre at lunch time today with my husband, son and his girlfriend, I decided to treat them to lunch! I wished I hadn’t bothered! Three of the four of us ordered the soup of the day which was sweet potato and butternut squash! My son took a mouthful and nearly gagged! I thought he was joking so both his girlfriend and I took a mouthful and we both nearly spat it straight out! It was the most bitter/sour taste I have ever experienced! I really have no idea how anyone could go wrong with the two main ingredients of this soup except to think that maybe the milk used in the soup was ‘off’. Also the lettuce in the side salad to my husband’s sandwiches was brown! Service was also poor and we were just one of 3 tables that we noticed had to actually ask for utensils!

I visit here often, usually on a Saturday morning, the other Saturday was my birthday, I arrived to a 'reserved' table, beautiful flowers and a 'happy birthday' message on a blackboard, which my breakfast partner and staff had organised. I was quite overwhelmed. The staff here are all lovely, helpful, polite, chatty and welcoming, and my usual cappuccino is the best!!!! Thank you, to you all!!!! xx

We’ve been for lunch here a few times and the food is always amazing. So we thought we would try the Sunday roast and it’s the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever eaten out. Piping hot and plenty of it, we had to have doggy bags. The staff are helpful pleasant and attentive. Well worth a visit and extremely good value.

Lovely home cooked food, good service, friendly staff. Found you almost by accident but very glad we did. Homemade fish finger sandwiches to die for! Very glad you’re not too close to us otherwise my husband and I would both be the size of whales. As Wardens of Gwern-y-Bwlch Caravan and Motorhome Club Site we will be recommending you to our members to seek out.

Staff are very friendly & nothing is too much trouble. I asked for something which wasn’t on the menu & they made if for me & it was lush. My favourite is their Ploughman’s Lunch there was so much on my plate I couldn’t eat it all My husband had a jacket potato & his plate was full needless to say he couldn’t eat it all either but for the want of trying.

Was visiting family in the local area and popped to have a look around the garden centre, to then find Poppy's.

Visited Poppy's today for lunch with a few family members.. we all ordered starters which consisted of homemade Soup, Garlic Mushrooms and a Beetroot and Feta Salad which arrived quickly.. We then received our main meals which were served with fresh vegetables and homemade Yorkshire puddings.. Poppy's serve a few choices of homemade puddings and cakes.. we went for the homemade Cheesecake and Apple and Blackberry Crumble which were both delicious. The staff were all very friendly and attentive making us feel very welcome. Poppy's is also child friendly and were happy to accommodate for my very fussy daughter, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Keep up the good work Poppy's and we will see you again next week :)

Not been for a few weeks. Used to go regularly for lunch. Menu changed, no longer salads or quiche, just usual choice of things with chips and panini. No dressing available for salad garnish, coffee vey poor. A shame, but I think we will look for a new venue

If you are looking for great value for food you will not be disappointed visiting Poppy at Newman Garden Centre the food is very good fresh and the portions are big so let's hope you're hungry. The place is clean and tidy the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We will be going back again and again well done to Poppys keep up the good work ! D

We wanted Newmans Garden Centre in Aberystwth as I wanted to look for a Stone Ornament.

I popped into the garden centre to collect a few bits and bobs after hearing about it from a few locals. I then came across a coffee shop and restaurant. It was late in the day and had a tea and cake afternoon. I went for the cheesecake and a latte. A proper cheesecake no homemade frozen stuff, delicious vanilla cheesecake. Staff and the set up on the terrace was beautiful!! Thank you Poppy's

called in saturday and today wonderful food so good i had the same saturday and today ploughmans lunch was superb and the breakfast was amazing my hubby loved it all great service polite friendly and welcoming. Well done

To have a meal here is fine if one likes being surrounded by noisy babies, out of control free range children and their totally inconsiderate selfish parents. If a quite peaceful meal is the only thing needed this is not the place to be unless you are one of the above who need somewhere for their off springs to let off steam, have a good scream and a run very annoyingly around the other customers tables. No health and safety rules here!

It was a cold & damp Monday; still snow under the hedges in the upper fields; en route from Merseyside to Pembrokeshire, I choose the longer rural route in large part because Poppy's provides a midway oasis.

The staff are fantastic food is amazing. Never had a bad meal. Great for coffee and cake or more substantial snacks and meals.

The food was hot and the service ok, I was disappointed having ordered the “ local butchers sausage and mash” they where the cheep mass produced things, so a slightly misleading menu

Called in for lunch and very happy we did. Sandwiches served with a generous garnish of salad, homemade coleslaw and crisps, fresh homemade soup and delicious cake and coffee. Coupled with excellent , friendly service. Very reasonable prices

I am a frequent shopper at the garden centre, but this was a first visit to the cafe. I went to the counter & was ignored by the lady behind it, when she did eventually acknowledge me she asked where I had been sitting, & I said that I was waiting to be served. She said to sit down & they would take the order at the table. We only wanted tea & Welsh cakes, but these took a long time to arrive, it wasn't very busy either. One of the cups didn't look clean & was changed. When I went to pay I was again ignored by the three members of staff there, eventually being served by a miserable looking woman , who gave the impression she would rather be elsewhere.

I found Poppy's on Tripadvisor - a double find because my overseas visitors wanted to visit a Garden Centre to see the range of local plants. Order taken quickly, served quickly. Place is spotless. Now on my Sat Nav for future trips.

I have also had Sunday lunch here which was also good value for money. would like to see some new comfortable furniture .

Popped in for lunch, difficult decision! Ended up with a burger (out of character for me) amazing! Lovely chips, relish and coleslaw. Great children's menu and accommodating for my little miss fussy, making hash browns instead of chips. Friendly staff good home cooked food!

We were told about Poppy's by a couple on our caravan site. So we popped along to newmans garden centre where Poppy's is based and we were very impressed by the quality and quantity of our sunday lunch. we had a starter and main (both piping hot) sadly then no room for desert. I would recommend the food to anyone.

Went today for Sunday lunch to celebrate nieces birthday. The food was excellent and plenty of it; service good but could be improved; setting was great and excellent value for money. Would return without hesitation

I stop here whenever in the area. The food is inexpensive, with a good choice, lots of vegetarian options. The staff are always polite and efficient, hot food is on a hot plate, something I really like. The eating area is clean, food is good, sevice quick, excellent coffee.

We had a lovely relaxing luncheon consisting of baked ham, egg and chips and a home made chicken, leek and bacon pie with chips. Simple fayre, but truly tasty food...and good sized portions. Chips were home-made and crispy and fluffy. The place is clean, spacious with staff who are attentive, smile, and know what they are doing. The chips were so good I just had to make a chip butty! With a garden centre attached, good parking I'm sure there are things here for most people.

Went midweek and had a fabulous meal, proper homemade chips and baked ham, not sure eggs were free range as very pale and bland. Fab homemade dessert and cakes but agree with previous comment we also had the "can't be bothered telling you/be helpful" assistant for cake selection glad other staff made up for Miss Grumpy.

I have here a fair few times. Food has always been nice. We usually go for breakfast but have had lunch there as well. I only have 2 small complaints : the toast is buttered for you but it is margarine (not nice and bad for you)

Visited Poppy's for breakfast one weekday morning last week. Absolutely terrible customer service. The lady that served us was rude and very unwelcoming (a tall older lady with short grey hair, English). She took our order, although she seemed like she didn't want to be there. We waited over 45 minutes for our food (which was a simple breakfast and coffees). Other customers had received and finished their food, so I went over to ask the waitress how long it was going to be, she said that she had "lost" the order and it was being made right away. No apology, or she didn't think to come over to explain the wait. By the time our food came we had finished our drinks and weren't offered any complimentary drinks. Again, lady was very rude and didn't say a word when she brought us our food. Very unfriendly and very ignorant. When we went to pay she wasn't apologetic or offered to take any money off the bill. Food was lovely but was overshadowed by an awful waitress with awful customer service. Won't be returning.

Had a lovely lunch here recently weather good and managed to sit outside scenery of the hills was beautiful, menu very good but just had a sandwich, very good.. seemed expensive on paper ..5.75 for smoked salmon and cream cheese, but with the salad, coleslaw and crisps it became a good lunch, bread also very nice ... friendly staff

We visited at a lunchtime in half term. Every table was taken but it didn't feel too busy. We ordered a mixture of all day breakfasts, sandwiches and jacket potatoes. The drinks arrived quickly and the food arrived not long after. The side salads were nice and the sandwiches came with crisps as well. The prices were very reasonable and the staff were friendly. Worth a drive out of Aberystwyth to find this café. Might need your sat nav but it is worth it.

I was apprehensive about going to a garden centre for lunch but how wrong I was. Roast beef was the best I've had in the Greater-Aberystwyth area. Also saw someone who looked a lot like Mark Williams by the window (perhaps the infamous Facebook fake 'Mark Williams').

Called in for quick lunch. Hidden at back of garden centre but well worth finding. Good selection of tasty food. Quick service and pleasant staff. Very busy despite out of town location which is a reflection of its standards.

Visited in a quiet Saturday in Sept 2015. Asked for a full breakfast with poached egg instead of fried, got advised that only scrambled or fried was available. What sort of chef can't make poached egg?

I have eaten a few times at the Poppy's cafe at the garden centre and have had a lovely lunch each time. It is relaxing and a gentle brouse around the garden centre is a must for all. Please visit it is worth it.
