Poppadom Indian Takeaway in Doncaster

Order arrived and every container was covered in grease, but nothing seemed to be leaking it was as if each container had been stood in a pool of grease before being put in the bag. Strange. Ordered butterfly king prawn starter, batter was plain, thick and very soggy, not a good start. Chicken masala and tandoori mixed grill for main courses. Chicken masala was watery with not much chicken, not the rich delicious curry we were expecting. Mixed grill was OK, but again the curry sauce was watery. The mixed grill meat was decent at least. Naan bread were fine. This was the 1st time ordering from Poppadom and sadly the last too. The curry is just not for us. Can't complain about the delivery time which was reasonable.

Have got to say visited here on Saturday ! Great Service & was the most tastiest food ever was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

This was by far the worst Indian Iv ever had. My meal consisted of chicken and a tin of tomatoes. The naan breads are not made on the premesis. I could not taste and herbs or spices that are well known within these meals. Terrible

We love poppadoms it is out of our way but it is well worth the wait and all the men who bring it r so great

Tonight was our first time ordering from Poppadom. I ordered the vegetable pathia, aloo saag and plain naan bread. Wow, it was so good! Deliver was on time and the food was piping hot. Will definitely order again!

Ordered early. Told 1 hour for collection. Arrived on time ... was asked for payment then told they would start cooking it! I stood for 30 minutes. Tonight the food was disgusting, overcooked and hardly any meat in the main dishes. Also the staff were wearing masks over their mouths ... not noses. If I had not paid I would have run a mile. We have had issues before, even sending a £70 order back when it arrived after 3 hours! I do ask myself - when will I learn? NEVER AGAIN. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. STAY CLEAR. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I thought the food was excellent to flavour in the madras sauce and the chicken tikka was beautiful We ordered and collected ourselves last Saturday. I thought it was a little expensive for a takeaway but it tasted so good I didn’t really mind too much. They gave us a complimentary cheesecake in the order which was a bit of a surprise but it was absolutely beautiful me and my husband shared. The tarka dhal was also gorgeous. The only reason I gave 4 not 5 was because it was a bit expensive and the chicken portion was a tad small. Il def have a meal in there when it can open xxx We had 3 tikka main 1 rice 1 onion Bhaji 2 Nan bread 1 madras sauce 2 dhal sides £49

I placed an order at 6pm and 9pm still not arrived. Tryed calling but phone lines constantly engaged. Quick to take my money from my bank but not provide any kind of service paid for. AVOID AND DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY

I advise and supply some of the top michelin starred restaurants and chefs in the country, I go by name of The Yorkshire Forager. That's just so you know, I know about food. Tonight for the first time we ordered from Poppadom and hand on heart its the best Indian takeaway I've ever had. Firstly, they have a 5 star hygiene rating. Yes the wait is a bit long but then a freshly prepared meal is. This is no generic goop from a jar in the back. The chicken was good quality and not feathered. The korma actually had ground almonds and coconut milk in it. The depth of the tomato based dishes were properly aromatic and the rice sides were first rate. The lemon in the lemon rice had been cooked to perfection. This all was made with love and care. Presentation was appreciated too. It's easy to slip standards but praise where it is due and well done to Poppadom for really great food.

The title says enough girl behind the desk didn’t even acknowledge me when I came in had to shout someone over after being stood there 10 minutes told an hour for collection 90 minutes later still waiting Useless service

I cannot understand the bad reviews I'm seeing for this place as I've only ever had good experiences. Obviously other people have had bad ones with delivery times which is fair enough but as for the food, I think it's great for a takeaway shop. I usually order Indian food from Indian restaurants that deliver and with that you expect restaurant quality and get it but when it's purely a takeaway I don't expect it to be of restaurant quality. Saying that, for me personally it's not a million miles away. I usually have a lamb balti which to me is very nice and tasty and there's enough lamb in it. I always order a Biryani and wow, the amount of meat in it always amazes me! Tonight I ordered a chilli, garlic chicken dish for a change, I will say that it was very very very hot, the amount of chilli used was probably excessive but again this comes down to taste, don't order a dish with chilli in the name if you don't like spicy food! I also ordered a lamb Biryani, it had a lot of tender lamb meat in it. Also ordered a garlic naan and the breads are very good in my opinion, proper naan not out of a packet. The vegetable curry sauce that comes with the Biryani is also nice and helped to cool down the chicken dish. Portion sizes are great also, I can never finish what I order and have plenty left for the next day. So all in all I really like this place, delivery drivers are always polite too.

Just ordered a set meal for 4 cost just over £40. I haven't ordered from here for about 3 years and I last recall the food being very nice. I'm very disappointed tonight, the food was very bland and the chicken tikka masala could have been served as a dessert it was that sweet. The starter wasn't much to be desired either, the onion salad looked old and brown with big chunks of onion and only 1 bit of tomato, the onion bahji tasted funny like it was off. The only nice thing about it was the garlic naan bread. Fair to say I won't be ordering from here again!!

This place is utterly disgraceful. I gave it 1 star as I couldn’t give 0! Ordered at 6:45 and after 5 phone calls asking where our food was it finally arrived at 9:45! Food was just awful. Shop bought samosas just warmed up, everything had the same spice heat rating which is HOT HOT HOT. No labels on the food so if you’d ordered similar it looked the same, tasted the same too which was pure heat from chillies. What a rip off, £44.50 for 3 starters and curries, total disrespect for customers and their service was appalling, no sign of an apology or explanation let alone a refund. Do yourself a favour and give this place a very wide berth, and pray they go out of business soon. I’m now eating toast and the food is in the bin. Slimy lamb, watered down curry and pure heat. Poppadom you should be ashamed, please close your doors for good.

Utterly utterly disgraceful. Food arrived three hours late, no apology nor explanation. Terribly prepared meals. Every dish was saturated in the highest amount of spices - including the rice, making every ounce of the order inedible. A lamb masala had a grand total of TWO pieces of meat in it, which weren’t even cooked. A truly terrible and shocking service, highly disappointed. No refund or response available from the establishment, abysmal. Do yourselves a favour and get a chip butty next time.

Some parts of the meal were very good, others were not. Ordered a chicken and lamb pasanda which was nothing like a pasanda we’ve enjoyed at other restaurants, it wasn’t very tasty, quite disappointing and bland. Not keen on the onion bhaji, but the breads, rice and chicken tikka balti was nice. Overall the food was good/average. My reason for a poor review is due to the 2 hours we waited for the delivery. Ordered through just eat, We spent £45 in total which is expensive for a takeaway so I was expecting excellent food and service, unfortunately we got neither. 2 hours wait is not acceptable for any delivery service and for that reason we are unlikely to use this restaurant again despite enjoying some of the food.

Ordered a takeaway for my husband and myself. My husband had a chilli chicken masala which he knew would be hot as he likes spicy food. I ordered a chicken masala which is what I would normally have from any Indian takeaway. My husband could not eat his as it tasted so awful and way too hot. My chicken masala was way too spicy and just could not be eaten. A word of advise is please note that food from here is very very spicy. We will not be ordering from here again.

I can't understand some of the negative reviews. Having moved here from Sheffield I have really struggled to find a decent curry. I've tried all the others and they've been just ok. This place really hits the spot, and I'm fussy when it comes to curries. The flavour and spicing was just right. I ordered by the website and it said it would be delivered in 1 hour. I live about 5 miles away and had to pay an extra £2 delivery, which I didn't mind as it was on time and piping hot. Will definitely use again

Used these for first time - told them mild = ,eat samosa in bin = Onion barhgi in bin - Lamb Bhuna to spice and could not chew the lamb in bin - ended up with 2 slices of toast what a waste of money

Ordered at 6.30 and it finally arrived at 20.45! Definetly not worth the wait! The sauces looked and tasted like they had been watered down and the chips were so dry they were inedible, It was tasteless and a total waste of money! Will not be ordering again

Ordered at 8 and food still not here by 10. Had to cancel. Don’t do delivery if you can’t get the food to customers in a reasonable time. I understand sometimes it can be busy. Shame because we order from this place often and mainly go in to get. But 2 hours for a takeaway is a joke and will order somewhere else if we require delivery next time.

2.15 hour delivery wait!!!! Ordered on line from their own website, not just eat, at 20.11. Rang 21.34 to see where it was, told it was just being cooked, 1 hour 20 minutes after ordered ! I wanted to cancel but husband didn’t, told would be just 20 more minutes, so should have arrived 21.54 rang again 22.06 told on way, 22.20 rang again said will be here soon but I Cancelled Oder, it , arrived 20.25 had to send him away.

Mixed grill and curry is great, food is always nice and deserts are great too, kids love the Oreo milkshake and I love the cornflake tart with custard.

I was really surprise and very happy to get veg Indian food from here, It was really tasty veg food.

Waited over 1 hour 40 mins for nibbles/starters then they forgot the pickle tray! They told me they would send one out but I said I wanted a refund as chicken was Luke warm and dry (4 pieces for £3 starter!!) told I would have to return food and wait god knows how long for delivery driver to come back. Told them to stick it!

I have to say that I have been going to popadoms Indian takeaway for a while now and this is the first time that it has been poor service when we called up the woman on the phone and she was very rude towards us and ask we were ordering our food she kept interrupting us. I believe I was disgusted with the way she handled things. Another reason is i asked when it might be delivered and she said and hour however 30mins after it's meant to be delivered I rang up a second time to ask how long it would be. The woman who answer the call wasn't helpful at all and when we asked how long it would be she said it's coming soon and then put down the phone. I'm hoping this can be resolved immediately. Thank you

We've tried almost all the takeaways locally and I have to say, Poppadom is by far the best Indian in miles.

16 of us went for a meal and the food was great and pretty cheap. I would recommend the mixed starters.

Never visited this takeaway before but had a Purple voucher for buy a main meal get one free. I expected the voucher to cover two meals out of the four however I was told the voucher was only for one free meal and didn't apply to any more than one meal which was disappointing. Always look inside a premises to see if it is clean and this was and nice and modern inside. You choose your meat i.e. Chicken or Chicken Tikka or Lamb and then choose which sauce you want. Chose a Chicken Korma, Chicken Dopiaza and a Balti Chicken all of which were hot, fresh and tasty. It still remained hot from all the way from Cantley to the other side of town. Onion rice was tasty and Saag Paneer was nice too. Cheese naan could have done with a bit more cheese in though. Good prices and not overly extortionate like some takeaways. Enjoyed the meal and would order again.

First time I ordered from here the food was lovely but half way through my meal I found a hair and it put me off. Tonight 4.11.16 I thought I would try it again my wife put the food on plates and I found a pubic hair in it safe to say I will never be ordering from here again.

We ordered a meal at 8pm and was told it would be 45 minutes to 1 hour. We then called at 21.45 as our meal had not arrived and we was greeted by an incredibly rude member of staff (male) that they would put it in now and stop complaining. We have been recently told that a few people were ill after eating there so please please please avoid this place if you want nice clean food on time.

Ordered from here for my birthday with the family, wish we hadn't bothered, when it first opened it was nice so we thought we'd order again, quite a large party of people but no excuse for wrong orders and bad attitude from poor trained staff, I cannot stand coriander in curries I ask everywhere not to sprinkle on top of curry and everyone seems to be fine with that, when I got my dish delivered it had it on, no problem I thought, I'd just phone and tell them, I've never been treated like I got treated that night. I was told in a short manner that it wasn't his fault and what did I expect him to do about it?? I asked for another as it wasn't what I ordered and was told no way as I've had my order, after having the phone slammed down on me and my number blocked I used someone else's phone and eventually got another one delivered but 1 hour later when the other 9 people had finished, totally disgusted and will never use again, train your staff properly please, only awarded 1 star as it won't let me leave it blank!

Ordered delivery at 5.24pm, confirmation stated 45 mins delivery time. It finally arrived after an hour and a half. I'd love to say the food was worth the wait. It wasn't. The poppadoms tasted stale and food was tasteless. I'll stick to collection from Armthorpe in future.

Had takeaway from here. Decided to give them a try. Called ahead and was told food will be ready in 30 minutes. Got there after 30 mins and had to wait almost an hour in total . The food was very average in price and taste.
