The fish and chips meal is so delicious 😋

I have to say I was so excited when I drove past and saw a fish n chip shop which is rare nowadays. Service was extremely fast and friendly, I purchased a haddock and chips but sadly there is no way this fish was haddock. The slippery texture and grey coloured flesh with a lot of dark brownish underside, was very odd to say the least and not edible in my opinion. A medium was more like a small, the batter was just like it came from a frozen supermarket aisle. Chips were ok but fish went in the bin, so ended up out of pocket as fish alone is nearly a tenner and left still hungry. Oh well my search for a proper traditional fish n chips continues.

Popeyes is our local chip shop and we are often popping in to grab something. The food is delicious, the service is great and they even catered for a private event we had with their amazing fried chicken! Highly recommend

Popeys fish bar goffs oak . I've been going to popeys fish bar for years with excellent food and service . Sadly under new management now I had one of the worst experiences in there with two men , the manager and a customer, after the customer walked in shouting out his order and the manager bypassing me after waiting for 15 -20 minutes to be served which ok but when I explained that I was actually next to be served I got abused by the customer and the manager with his crash helmet hairstyle , rude and misogynistic, also said to another lady customer she was late picking up and he was gonna eat her fish with tongue in cheek vile !!!! The manager then went on serving every other customers food who came in after me and left my food waiting for 30 minutes in the heater drying out it would seem as some sought of punishment and win for saying something . I've never experienced such rude and poor service and the food was as dry and nasty as the manager . Appaling customer care !!!!

I'm giving this place three stars as the owners and staff are genuinely nice and welcoming , although the fish and chips are nothing special . PS. I posted this review about a year or so ago, just an update ,Popeyes is now under new management from early 2004, instead of expanding on the menu which I think they have done maybe it would be prudent to upgrade on what's already on offer? let's see what happens

The food was out of this world, best Curry sauce EVER.

I live 1 minute up the road and used to go to Cuffley for Fish and Chips and the previous owners food was very poor and old oil. I gave the new owners a try and the food is top class. I've told all my family who all did the same that Popeyes is now a top Fish and chip shop. Excellent

Cannot fault them at all. High quality food, you can tell they don’t use the precooked frozen rubbish that most takeaways do now. Cooked perfectly, not swimming in oil and grease like your typical takeout. Not overpriced at all. Top customer service. 10/10 in all areas, one of the only takeaways I will regularly order.

Ordered from here recently and can confidently say they're the best in the area. The fish is battered and fried fresh and the chips are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The refurb looks great and the new owners seem very friendly. Definitely coming back for more.

Have tried a few stuff from here and all have been very nice. The fish is always fresh and cooked as you order. The chips are by far the best in the area. Customer service is always good even during busy times. Look forward to going back.

Had medium Cod and Chips which were cooked as we waited for the full order. The food was OK and will likely give it another go. The chips could be cut more on the thicker side. The batter and chips looked on the darker side which could mean oil was over used and required changing or topping up. But will give it another go.

I have recently had a take away from here and the food was amazing ! I didn’t have to wait long the customer service was amazing, quick and fast. The food tasted really good too definitely would be back

Went there was only person at counter was totally ignored no eye contact made they acted like I was invisible wasn't even acknowledged so left and went to seaways fish and chip shop which I would highly recommend will not be returning to Popeyes ever again.

Just got Cod and chips and breast off chicken and chips . Unfortunately the cod was dry and the chicken was fried to a crisp . So disappointed as we used to love there food and never had a problem with the previous owners. It’s a shame .

Best Food, Best service, the best in the area!

We usually go early on a Friday evening. There is always a queue but it does mean the food is very fresh and perfectly cooked. Lovely Greek Cypriot people

The most important thing is that the fish we had was excellent. We enjoyed cod fillet and importantly skate, which seems hard to find in a lot of fish 'n chip shops. The counter service was friendly and the fish was freshly fried. The portions of chips were huge. Good value for money. The area outside these shops is a bit rough and ready to be honest, but don't let it put you off as the fish here is very good.

Probably the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. The fish and chips ain’t much better. We were using this chippie for years but it went downhill and when we complained they had a bad attitude!! Now I buy my fish and chips down at Blue sea in cuffley. Better food and customer service. Rule #1 The customer is always right!

Went to Popeyes for the first time tonight, never heard of this place before. Out of all the chip shops I’ve been to in and around Cheshunt this is by far the best. The chips were lovely and the cod I got was beautiful, it was a lovely batter with succulent cod. The battered sausage and savaloy my kids loved. I highly recommend Popeyes and will be definitely going back. Thanks for a great meal.

Great fish and chips but.. I have found size of "Cods" very inconsistent. Pay for large (which is alot these days )and sometimes get small piece. This has happened on many many occasions which is very annoying . Feel a bit ripped off sometimes.

Probably the best chips in cheshunt. Haven’t found one that tops this place. The fish is crispy and yummy. The chips are cooked properly. Everything else on the list I’m sure is lovely too. The staff are helpful and friendly.

Have been going here now for years, easily the best Chip Shop in the area. The quality of the fish is excellent, the Pies are Pukka and the Saveloy"s are savory and superb. The Curry Sauce and Mushy Peas are to die for.

Had a family gathering for my 60th birthday and decided to go with fish / chicken n chips from Popeye's. We ordered 12 meals which were ready at the time we agreed. Various deals were offered as part of the order, food was excellent and exactly as ordered. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely old fashioned hand cut chips, made the old fashioned way with the correct variety of potatoes! Everything cooked in here is really high quality eg the scampi here will put most restaurants to shame! Excellent!

Average price, However chips were only warm and tated like cardboard. Would not recommend or go there again.

Not the best of fish restaurants but friendly enough and fairly quick service. My cod tasted and looked like coley to me, but I'm no expert and maybe I'm just used to my local fish restaurant which has best quality fish. The food here was plentiful and nuclear hot, well wrapped and fairly good price.

This use to be my local chippy when I lived near it and it's by far the best chippy I've ever been to. The staff are absolutely lovely and will accommodate what ever you need. Fantastic food and fantastic prices what more do you need.

This is my favourite chippy. The staff are so friendly and always remember us & ask after the family. The fish is brilliant, perfect batter - great portion sizes and gorgeous chip's too.

The fish is really nice here, and they cook it fresh. The only improvement I suggest is that they leave the fish to dry for a few minutes longer after they have deep fried it. The service is really good, and the food portions are well sized. I will be back soon. Thank you

Extremely helpful staff when placing a large order at end of Tolmers summer camp. Fantastic value and excellent quality. Well worth the short drive to avoid the inevitable scrum at the nearest chip shop. Definitely recommend to other groups visiting the area - Nom nom nom 😄
