It was empty for a reason . . Very sad as I used to come here many years ago and it was delightful. Place was dark and grubby, loo was shocking. Scrambled eggs were pale, watery and tasteless. Juice tasted as if out of a carton. Not sure how this place survives given the other lovely options on South End Green.

We were frankly shocked. We entered this place, which looked cute enough, and sat at a table. We ordered poached eggs (with bacon / salmon). The owner was rude, he said it would take him at least 30 minutes and we could leave if we wanted. We were in no rush and waited. He came after 5 minutes with poached eggs that were basically boiled, burnt bread and oddly cooked bacon. His hands were dirty with food and then he touched the money and card machine without washing (before or after). We could see that he cooked a lot of the stuff in a microwave. At least it wasn't too expensive. But still pretty horrifying!

Chains and faceless soulless cafes are taking over. But Polly’s is still here. Directly next to Hampstead Heath and near the Overground station, it’s a must visit. It’s not flashy or slick, but the coffee and food is good. What a wonderful place!

This place is an eyesore. I've tried it once, but I live in the neighbourhood and walk by it almost every day. It always looks dark, dingy, and decrepit. The awning is crumbling, the seats are all chipped and wobbly, and it's usually pretty empty. It's doubly a shame because it could be so much more. Biggie Best next door and the newly renovated Euphorium a few doors down show what good can look like on this otherwise pretty road just in front of the amazing Hampstead Heath. If there was a fundraiser to renovate it, I'd contribute!

A lovely quaint and quirky little restaurant with a very special decor of bric a brac. Lovely staff. Starter platter for two was excellent and so was the Pad Thai. Would be 5* but the Red Thai Curry was bland, which was a shame.

Had a coffee and cherry pie with custard, after a chilly dip in the Highgate Men's Pond. Quaint atmosphere and a nice change from the big chains. Didn't use the loo though, so no update on how they are at the mo!

This independent cafe is a bit old school and it’s no frills food and service here, and yes the toilets do sometimes leave a bit to be desired. But with the relentless march of the modern sterile and bland coffee chains making these sort of places rarer it’s good to visit and reminisce. Usually utilise this one for a lunch time sandwich as we did again the other week and solid home made no frills sandwiches they were.

This place is cosy, and cheap too. The food is really yummy. Pat has been there for so long, the place would not be the same without her. If the man is serving, I would steer clear, as he definitely does not know what customer service means. Very miserable.

Popped in for a catch up with a work colleague. I had a lovely lentil soup which was hard to pick but out of the three fabulous choices. A lovely lady served us who made me feel right at home. The only put off was the hard sales by the boss, if want a coffee or cake I tend to order it!!!

What a super place this is! Delightful service, almost “quaint” atmosphere and delicious, freshly-made sandwiches at very reasonable prices. One of our friends opted for the home-made soup of the day and pronounced it excellent. Lovely place to hang out.

I had some hours to waste nearby so after a good stroll around working up an appetite I wandered past this place. It was mid afternoon, I was hungry and had the urge for a full English breakfast so that’s what I had. Very amenable friendly gentleman and lady behind the counter, I gave my order and was invited to take a seat. The food arrived quickly two poached eggs bacon sausage mushrooms tomato toast pot of tea, butter and marmalade and a coffee to go all for a tenner! The decor is getting on a bit and as others have said the place isn’t spotless but has character and a friendly unpretentious feel. If you’re a fussy ponce who places style over substance then go somewhere else where you might get charged twice as much. The food was great, the service was like being in someone’s home, old fashioned place with an old fashioned welcome and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Thanks.

Visited here for a quick drink. I was attracted by the vintage style. The lady working here seemed lovely and friendly. It was really unpretentious and quirky. The only down side was that it didn't look too clean. The toilet room wasn't the best either. All it needs is a good deep clean throughout and it would be fantastic!

First can I say how much I love Polly's. I have been coming here since I was a child and I love the fact it has changed so little in all that time. It is a little haven of constancy in a city which has changed dramatically. The owners are delightful - warm and friendly - in stark contrast to rude and offhand Euphorium which is close by. The food is good - lovely breakfasts and sandwiches, nice cakes and ok coffee. BUT - just recently I have been really saddened to see it looking not just comfortably shabby but quite grubby and really tired and last week I felt I couldn't bring friends here and reluctantly went to Euphorium instead. Can I humbly suggest a spruce up? NOT a big redesign - but just a clean and freshen? And maybe better coffee and wi-fi? As the last reviewer says, it would be really nice to see it up its game. Its a bit of old Hampstead and it is precious. I don't want to lose an old friend - it would be lovely to see it looking smart and rejuvenated.

Sp, I really wanted to have coffee and cake in this indie cafe. A nice change from the usual suspects. Cake was tasty, coffee certainly OK. however it felt so dated and a touch underpowered. We came across this little Gem after a long walk across Hampstead Heath so welcomed a sit down and a spot of lunch. I opted for the club sandwich with a twist and was very pleasantly surprised at the result. I won't give away what the twist is! You need to go there and find out for yourselves, you won't be disappointed! I also had a pot of tea and this was served with a tea strainer (yes you heard me correctly) which was great, and the loose leaf tea made an excellent cuppa! Will be back there again soon after another excursion across the Heath - can't wait!

Its been here for years. Lots of character as everyone says. All the newspapers and mags are here and there is space to spread out and relax. So unlike the crowded 'Chain' cafes around here. Very friendly by the long serving staff. Choice of drinks are good. Tea and Coffee are excellent and nicely served.I always wonder why they dont seem to upgrade the menu or have a special. Does it ever change? However this is an observation not a criticism. Famous people? Well yes some, but they do not come here to pose. And outside tables. Also nearby in Keats Grove is the Community Library in a wonderful historic building do look. Its next to Keats House (Keats the Poet of course) itself worth a look.______

Good old Polly's it's been around for a while and still going. It's a greasy spoon with a touch of style. Even thought that it is old and tired. Had the full English breakfast which was as expected greasy. The latte was ok but the fresh juices were excellent and worth having. I would say it's like going to visit a great aunt and having her home made breakfast.

Sadly to say that Polly's is no longer the place it used to be. We have been going there on Sundays for years, dropping in for a coffee (or a fabulous Pollytonic) and bites to eat after walking on the Heath. But during the last few months the service has been sliding downhill and the coffee has deteriorated, tasting a bit wishy-washy. The croissant, left on a table for us to assume was ours (not very busy there today) was served with marmalade. It was not a good croissant and it would be good to have the choice of jam or marmalade served with it. It's not as if they were rushed off their feet. There was a man sitting in the corner eating his own packed food, and left the newspaper in a horrible pile No-one noticed! Come on Polly's, there's a great opportunity there to have a small goldmine. It's good to go to somewhere that is a lot calmer than those phrenetic chain cafés but some decent coffee and some good service with a smile and a welcome goes a long way! Please don't waste away, we've enjoyed your little café for a long time and hope for some better experiences there.

Criticise Starbucks all you like but serving a decent cup of coffee is the one thing that they do well - loads better than Costa amongst others. The only better one is Roasting Plant Coffee in the Strand but then that place is several rungs up the ladder

Extremely overpriced for juices with basically mostly contain ice water! Charging £7 for this is pure cheek though they were busy so people are clearly willing to pay for it. Very loud, dirty tables as they don't have enough staff to clean and serve, and disappointing they do not have a toilet as they do serve food. Will not go again.
