Masala Zone Camden Town in Camden

The ambience is wonderful, very Indian chic. The food itself is mixed. The samosa filling was oddly powdery. The gold gappa (pani poori) had four pieces only, for six pounds(!). The dal makhani was delicious, the Chana masala was spicy and well cooked. Palak was just mushed palak, the Malabar chicken was ok. Naan perhaps use too much maida as the result was thick. Rice was well made. Service was good, we were able to call attention when needed.

Very comfortable surroundings, great staff and delicious food at a reasonable price, for London. The drinks were on the expensive side but again, that seems to be the case for London.

I have visited many Indian restaurants over the years but this place is tops. The venue is comfortable and exotic. The staff are exceptionally helpful. The food is brilliant. I had a Prawn thali and Mango lassi - unbeatable. Great place to eat if you are having an evening out in Camden Town.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. All the food was nice quality and a bit different. Portion sizes of starters and mains are small. London prices always high but this was expensive for what you got in Camden.

Family group of 8, shared poppadoms and pickles and all had a main with some sides, general consensus was very tasty and enjoyable, mine certainly was, only complaint would be whilst the sauces were delicious the protein portions could have been more generous. Price about right for central London. Came in at about £30 per head with drinks.

Nice room and good prompt service. There was a good choice of main courses on the menu which clearly showed the "heat" etc and a good selection of breads etc as well. Food was provided promptly and was very good with the level of spiciness reflecting the menu accurately, Overall, a very good experience on a cold, wet London evening.

First visit to this restaurant, and we were extremely impressed, stylish decor, good ambience, modern take on Indian food which was delicious, would definitely recommend.

Visited with friends on Saturday night and had a fantastic meal bursting with flavour. Our server was very pleasant and helped us pick out some different types of starters and mains. Each dish was perfect, presented beautifully and tasted awesome.

I went for dinner with 5 other friends at the restaurant to celebrate the end of first year university exams and we all had a lovely time! This was the third time my friend and I had gone to this branch and we've loved it every time. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and always manage to find us a table, especially last night when we hadn't been able to book online but they managed to organise a table for 6 in ten minutes, which was so nice! The food was really good, we all had the butter chicken, which we loved. Service was very good and the manager also gave a very sweet gesture by giving us some free desserts at the end! The gulab jamun and pistachio kulfi were amazing! We will definitely be going back again! :)

Very disappointed with the food, ordered thali but extremely bland prawn goan curry so asked to have alternative and was given butter chicken. Unfortunately that was no better, actually tasted like chicken with Heinz tomato soup! Service was very good though but food huge disappointment

Me and my partner visited and had a fantastic evening!! We are both vegetarian so had the veg 7 course small plates. All 7 where totally delicious and a really fun variaty of tastes and textures, it was all new and basically every course was something we had never had anything like before. We also shared a mango lassi which was really delicious. Our waitress was really friendly and professional. She really made our evening a great one!

Poor restaurant - deco was dated and portions very small for £14 each. Average costs are £7 a dish this is double the price. The Kebab came out cold and the manager got offensive as we gave feedback - I won't be going back again!

Wanted to go to Camden town and randomly picked this restaurant, wanting to have Indian cuisine. I found the restaurant very accommodating, Getting a table ready so we could sit by the window. The service was fast. The food was fantastic. The flavours were delicious, food was fresh and hot and great presentation. Price was reasonable based on the location. Portion size maybe a bit small however that’s relative to one’s appetite, I did not go away hungry. I ordered a mixed platter which gave me a great selection of food to try. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Went to Masala Zone for a family get together with 9 of our family members. Myself and family which was 4 adults and 2 kids were going for the first time as we were visiting London and were taken by a family member.

Had a great meal at Masala Zone in Camden - the best past of the chain is the comsistency of service and menu and the quality. Always good to come back. Highly recommended for authentic Indian food

There’s a good reason why kassala zone is one people’s bucket lists. Walking in you are transported to a Rajasthani host who is so polite and accommodating. The food equally was mind-glowingly good and my mother does make the best food...

We visited Masala Zone earlier this month (June, 2019) based on very positive reviews and overall we were very happy, but I would not call this a great Indian restaurant, especially given the many choices in London.

We went there for lunch last week and we simply could not fault it. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, the staff were friendly and informative, and the food was superb. We were also pleased to see the arrival of a large party of Asians who had a gathering downstairs which only endorses how lovely Masala Zone is. From our point of view we just wish we lived nearer!!

Vino con arroz, pero el pan era extra - poppadoms era extra (¡¡¡POR OCTAVA LIBRA CINCUENTA 50, REALMENTE?!). Y cometí el error de los poppodoms ordenados. Eran exactamente iguales a los poppodoms comprados en la tienda, NO a los poppodoms indios cocidos auténticos. Reclamó que tienes cuatro. Tienes dos - picados por la mitad. . esto no es cuatro

Looking for somewhere upmarket Indian east of london of for lunch we came across this Masala Zone brand restaurant. The decor is beautiful and there’s attention to detail in the menu to the food that’s beautiful plated. As you walk-in it took few minutes for anyone to recognise we arrived and it wasn’t busy. The food is average and maybe looks better than it tastes. Prices are expensive. There are cheaper options on the same road in Camden however the decor and brand is what gives this place maybe the edge.

This was first time I'd visited this particular Masala Zone, and I wasn't to be disappointed.  Apparently it had just been refurbished and I loved the decor - modern but with traditional Indian influences. We were welcomed into the restaurant by charming staff.   To start, we shared poppadoms and home made chutneys, folllwed by chicken samosas with curried chickpeas, and "puris puffs" delicious little puffs of gorgeousness, filled with potato and tamarind (my favourite!).  We were a family of 4 and we all chose different curries in our Thalis- all so flavoursome -  Butter Chicken, Rogan Josh, Saffron Chicken and Chicken Mangalore.  The dishes accompanying the Curries were: broccoli Korma, lentil dahl, potato and tomato curry, coriander and mango chutney, rice or chippati and a poppadom, all beautifully homemade.  These are no ordinary curries - Although Masala Zone is a small chain, it's all "street food" no curries swimming in ghee here!!! Recipes are authentic, fresh herbs are used, just so totally different from the usual High Street Indian where everything tastes the same! Of course, they just don't provide Thalis, there are far more dishes on offer, but Thalis are our favourite (about £13-14 each and incredibly good value!). Good choice of beer/wine and drinks too. The waiting staff here were lovely and so helpful.  This is the 3rd different Masala Zone we have been too, and although the menus are the same, as all the food is cooked from scratch, the dishes taste slightly different from place to place, but never disappoint! If you want true Indian food, this is the place to come to! Enjoy!

I normally wouldn’t eat dinner in a “chain” Restaurant where the food is normally ping to plate pre cooked food but this place was handy and there were a few in ( normally a good sign)

Great restaurant if going to the Jazz Cafe. Only a minute walk from the restaurant to the venue! Food was great, service was fine. Reasonably priced for London. We were a group of 6 & had main course + quite a lot of beer worked out at £25 each.

Visited last night and wow! The instance we stepped in it the atmosphere of the restaurant was incredible. Now to the food and drinks what can I say. Absolutely delicious and well cooked. I had the prawn grand Thali for main and masala squid for starter; both were really well cooked and full of flavour.

I was with some friends and we wanted to try this place. The furniture are really interesting, well-finished. The food is tasty. I don't know if it is indian-west style or genuinely indian but it is tasty and the right amount of spicy. Perfect souces and really good valuaìe for money. Recommended.

Nice decor. But the menu was very confusing, and the waiter was unable to explain. As a result we had a mediocre meal - on very nice crockery.

All seemed lovely and we were looking forward to our meal. I told the restaurant that I have a nut allergy and prepared myself for the usual claims that they couldn’t be certain there were no traces of nuts anywhere in their food. It’s a cop out I have nothing but disdain for but am used to.

Este viaje a una zona de masala fue después de muchos años, mi primer viaje fue el de la calle Marshall, área W 1 en 2003, ya no existe allí ya que se mudaron a Soho y también abrieron otras sucursales a lo largo de los años. En aquel entonces era bueno, pero carecía de un sabor auténtico, ya que intentaban mantener el frío y jugar con seguridad.

Ennesimo franchise di ristoranti asiatici a Londra. La filiale di Camden del Masala Zone passa per uno dei migliori locali della città. Ambiente suggestivo, ma tavoli troppo ravvicinati. In un piatto abbiamo trovato un capello. Per il resto cucina ok, ma nulla di memorabile. Unica cosa eccezionale sono gli arredi. Ma forse è un po' troppo poco.

Bonita decoración y el servicio era muy bueno y amable. Teníamos Thalis y eran bastante buenos, aunque un poco más picantes de lo que esperábamos. Hace lo que dice en la lata con una sonrisa añadida. Ojalá hubiera una buena calificación en TripAdviser, ya que es mejor que la media pero no es muy buena.

Not a huge amount to say - a mediocre Indian meal. Indian food is one of my favourite cuisines, both in the UK and in India itself, I particularly enjoy the "Street Food".

Visited Camden and looked for a curry (my favourite food) this place had good reviews and seemed to be a bit more authentic. Lovely restaurant with a warm welcome. Menu is a bit different to ya usual but everything explained.

Went to this restaurant at 9.15 so not a late visit. To start 4 poppadoms, when they came it was 4 halves The main my husband ordered was chicken tikka and spicey fries, I ordered a chicken biryani. After 5 minutes waiter came back and said didn’t have any- at 9.15!!!! I thought Indian food was cooked fresh. I had to have the same as my husband in the end for quickness. We wanted to end the night with an Irish coffee, when it came it was in a champagne glass and cold. Any restaurant should be able to make these. Will never visit this restaurant when we come to London again!!! Then to cap it all off asked if they could get us a taxi and the waitress said she would need to ask manager came back and said he said no. Thanks very much.

I had the Veg green korma with side orders of rice, peshwari nan and raita. The service was very fast and informative. Kind atmosphere and beautiful decor with Indian vibe but flavored with Art Deco kind of interior. The price for this meal including a small bottle of sparkling water was 28£. I warmly recommend this restaurant for couples, small groups and solo travelers.

Very tasty Indian food in the Camden Town area. This will not disappoint. Their platters, with a chosen main and several sides-of-the-day, allow you to have a variety without having to order multiple dishes.

Nous sommes retournés au Masala au mois de juillet 2018 et nous avons encore une fois été hyper satisfaits : tout est au top : accueil (réservation par internet), cadre, nourriture, personnel....et même si c'est un peu cher, la qualité et le service sont au rendez-vous, sans parler du nouveau dessert fondant au chocolat accompagné d'une glace coco qui est une véritable tuerie (à recommander absolument).

Masala Zone offers good Indian food for moderate prices. Extensive menus und fine wines. Service wasn’t 100% efficient but friendly. It wasn’t our first time and it won’t be our last time at MZ.

I booked the private room of this Masala Zone for my sister's hen party meal. In the run up to the meal, I dealt with a member of the team via email and they were incredibly helpful throughout. Upon arrival the waiting staff were incredibly friendly, and they were professional throughout the meal. I don't think there is anything they could have done to provide us with a better time.

Can't recommend this place highly enough. Everything about it was amazing. The food was excellent, the best Indian cuisine I've ever had. The staff were lovely. A great experience.
