Polka Kitchen in Ealing

I absolutely love the patisserie! Sowa is my favourite place to visit back home in Poland. I was excited to find all the familiar flavours in London! Will be coming back often!

I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Here’s a breakdown of what went wrong: • Service: From the moment we walked in, the service was unwelcoming and unprofessional. The staff seemed disorganized and inattentive, making us wait over 20 minutes just to place our order, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. When we finally got their attention, they seemed rushed and uninterested in answering our questions about the menu. • Food Quality: The food was the biggest disappointment. I ordered and which arrived lukewarm and poorly presented. The flavors were bland, and it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. My companion’s dish was undercooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen, which added another 30 minutes to our wait time. The portions were small for the price, and nothing felt fresh or authentic. • Cleanliness: The overall hygiene of the restaurant was concerning. The tables were sticky, and there were crumbs left from previous customers. The restroom was in a deplorable state—dirty floors, no soap, and an unpleasant odor. • Ambiance: While the décor might have been nice at some point, it now feels outdated and poorly maintained. The lighting was too dim, making it hard to read the menu, and the background music was either too loud or nonexistent. • Value for Money: Considering the poor food quality, subpar service, and lack of cleanliness, the meal was outrageously overpriced. I’ve had much better dining experiences at more affordable places. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I certainly won’t be returning. There are far better options in the area that offer quality food, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere.

I’ve never been so disappointed by a restaurant in my life. The entire experience was a nightmare, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. • Food Quality: The food was horrendous. My [specific dish] was greasy and undercooked, and the flavors were completely off. It was clear the ingredients were not fresh. Even the simplest item on the menu tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. • Service Issues: The service was shockingly bad. The staff ignored us for most of the time, and when we finally flagged someone down, they were impatient and rude. Our drinks didn’t arrive until after the food, and one of the orders was completely wrong. • Hygiene Concerns: The restaurant was filthy. There were crumbs and food scraps on the floor, and the tables hadn’t been properly cleaned. The bathroom was in such bad shape that I couldn’t even use it. • Atmosphere: Instead of a cozy, welcoming vibe, the restaurant felt chaotic and unorganized. Loud noises, unpleasant smells, and uncomfortable seating ruined any chance of enjoying the meal. This was a complete waste of money and time. If you value your dining experiences, avoid this place at all costs!

Great customer service and food

I don’t usually write reviews, but this restaurant was such a disappointment that I felt compelled to warn others. • Terrible Food: The food was absolutely awful. My food was overcooked, tasteless, and looked nothing like the description on the menu. My friend’s dish was cold and seemed like it had been reheated. The portions were laughably small, and we left still feeling hungry. • Service: The staff were rude and inattentive. It took forever to get seated, and even longer for someone to take our order. When we asked for help, they acted annoyed, and one server even rolled their eyes at us. • Cleanliness: The restaurant was dirty and unhygienic. The table was sticky, the utensils weren’t clean, and the bathroom was disgusting – no soap, paper towels everywhere, and a horrible

The best cafe and restaurant in west London you can experience. Best coffee and cakes, amazing food, in a beautiful surrounding with professional, kind and pleasant staff. Ten out of ten for me.

This restaurant is of a high standard. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a good soup or a basic dish. To anyone who feels like having a nice cup of tea, a good coffee, or indulging in a delicious cake while spending time with friends. Only Polka on Ealing Broadway.

The greatest Polish food with the best service, the ladies are always very nice and helpful, the food is of the highest standard, large portions, the restaurant has a very family atmosphere, the place is spacious, a great place for any occasion. I highly recommend it!

I visited Polka restaurant today and was very very disappointed with service and staff attitude I received. I used to visit that restaurant since many years ( used to be Sowa restaurant in different location , but same staff was working there ) . We arrived at 4:30 pm and asked lady with curly hair which was standing behind the counter (she is with that company from the beginning ) if they still serving she replied ‘of course “ we also seen waitress coming out from the kitchen with food and serving to the table . There were around 4/5 tables occupied by the guests. When we approached table area I asked one of the waitresses if is ok to seat anywhere, but her reply was that we not serving anymore as they about to close entire restaurant for a day !! I was very surprise so asked the lady with curly hair again what is wrong as seconds ago we could have a table ? And here comes her strange explanations that actually today is only take away service ( why she did not mention that in the 1 st place ?) and information is on the door , I asked why others can seat and enjoy the full experience and been told that they done bookings for the anniversary etc again how strange she twisted all around and did not remember what just said minutes ago ? Then waitresses which refused us a table show up and with funny face was saying yes we closing at 5 etc . On the website says that restaurant is open till 6 pm . I would never make any fuus about it if the right information would be given in the first place . This place used to be very friendly with nice and professional staff ( Miss Klaudia Top Class) but now I would never ever visit Polka again as attitude You can never buy You have it or not . Shame on them .

Great spot in centre of Ealing Broadway beautiful interior design classy and chic, good was to die for and plated very elegantly, great modern twist on classic Polish cuisine. Pierogi with wild boar filling, goulash, classic pork schnitzel, traditional Polish soups and a great selection of cakes! Will definetely be back. Also absolutely flawless service from Kuba- thank you once again. We had a great night.

Great food, but very slow service, need more staff for a busy time, like Sunday afternoon... Was waiting 20 minutes to order and then 20 minutes for the bill to arrive... Staff friendly but had to go to thr bar to request new glasses, cutlery etc.. Recommend for lovely polish food, but be mindful of the waiting time...

This hidden jem in Ealing Broadway was one of the highlights of our trip. Set in a quiet lane of Dickens yard, the interior was a beautiful, elegant delight. Cocktails were exquisitely crafted. The meals were truly delicious and well presented. The desserts were generous and delicious. Prices here are surprisingly reasonable compared to other restaurants or even pubs in the area. Service was attentive and pleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant.

What a lovely little place new and modern. Breakfast bagel was smashing and the handmade chocolates absolutely amazing. We'll definitely be going back when in Ealing Thank you to the staff, very friendly and advised what to have and also check the ingredients for me before my purchases.

The pierogi is nice and filling. Pretty good steak. Friendly service. If you love Polish vodka, there is a very big selection for you. The dessert menu is amazing. Overall, pretty good.

It's one of the best Polish restaurants in London, great food, pleasant atmosphere but mishaps happen. My wife soup was served rather cold today, so only 4 stars guys.

From start to finish the meal was fantastic 👌 ⭐️ Quarter duck in gravy – tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat that paired perfectly with the rich gravy ⭕️ Wild boar pierogi - each bite packed with flavour, topped off with a lovely mushroom sauce and a hint of cranberry for sweetness ⭐️ Mille-feuille - light and fluffy, striking the perfect balance between indulgent and not overly heavy. Highly recommend for anyone in the area!

Very tasty food (we did have proper mains, not just pierogi). Everything was delicious and Paulina was a gem and recommended good food, wine, and vodka - definitely take her advice if you're lucky enough to have her wait your table. We'll be back

I recently visited Polka Kitchen in Ealing, and I was truly impressed by their food, especially the amazing pastries I purchased! I have been to Polka several times, the staff is very friendly, the food is authentic, the cakes are delicious. The bartender Bartosz is on another level, really nice and always ready to advise me the best. I recommend it to everyone, one of the best bars/restaurants in Ealing!

Overall great place. One of the best foods in London! However, one time they didnt let us order desserts without main even though it wasnt full with people. It felt a bit odd and not nice, dont think its a standard practice if you have desserts in your menu.

Ordered the 'dish of the day' - turns out to be risotto with fried fish. Definitely seems like random combinations of leftovers (of other dishes) served in the same plate.

Update: the praise is about times back when this was a Sowa Restaurant yet!!i wouldn't recommend the replacement so much... Deli food, pleasant interior with atmosphere and lovely staff. They were happy and flexible to make non- alcoholic drink for my friend, and that was out of menu thing, so always appreciate small things like these. My favourite polish place in London and I don't even live nearby. Thank you- back again for Christmas dinner with more friends along:)

I hosted a dinner for my friends and family to celebrate my civil ceremony and must say that Polka did an amazing job to deliver beyond my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful flowers, name cards, balloons which elevated the atmosphere of the private dining space. The food was absolutely delicious (thank you to the chef Marcin) and praised by all the guests. The service was equally incredible and made my experience unforgettable. I would highly recommend Polka if you are looking for a great culinary experience or to host a private event. Thank you Polka for such a special day!

Don't be fooled by the fact that it's the same OWL as 5 years ago... I visited the place yesterday, I waited 20 minutes for service (the waitresses, of course, found time for private conversations); the cutlet was dry, the potatoes were served cold and, best of all, there was no lunch left at 2:20 p.m. That is, the waitress offered only soup (without croutons) but the meatballs were already gone. So, I didn't fully understand what exactly she wanted to offer, since the second part of the set was sold out. The worst thing about all this is the ROCKING of these chairs. No one has yet come up with the idea of ​​gluing chair legs to avoid shuffling. Heavy curtains took out all the light, at 25C the windows were closed, and there was no air conditioning. Finally, to make my stay more beautiful, I went to the confectionery department to buy a takeaway cake. Today I check the payment from yesterday, and instead of paying £3.90 for a cake, I was charged an additional £1.30 for God knows what! In a word - either the staff needs to be changed because they are "settled" and ignore the customer (the cook wasn't impressed either!) or the attitude needs to be changed - the service and food will no longer be at the highest level. I give 2 stars only for this karpatka, because even though it was unjustly overpaid, it was tasty.

Delicious food with great portion size, authentic cuisine and experience with service that was friendly and welcoming. 10/10 an absolute must visit for those unfamiliar with polish food!

It was the worst food I’ve eaten in London. God forbid anyone by mistake or choice to step into that establishment. I felt bad for people who worked there that I am sure had to deal with endless complaints from customers whose tastebuds were assaulted by the horror of the substance that they call food. Thus, I felt cold-sick to complain and felt bad for the personnel to voice my concerns. It felt like culinary gaslighting. We ordered beef and herring tartare. Whilst beef tartare at best was bearable, herring tartare was some sort of bizarre experiment. It tasted like canned fish, which they for some reason decided to call tartare. They mixed it with mayonnaise and one wouldn’t wish such a terrible experience to the worst enemy. We also ordered wild boar pierogies - the only wild thing about it was the price for something that tasted like meat from a can. The Polish beer that we ordered had an aftertaste of kerosene. Awful. We ended up paying £89 for that. Honestly, we should’ve gone for oysters instead, in fact I would’ve much preferred McDonald’s. This experience makes me want to scream like a banshee!

We decided to po down as we were passing by. The interior is really nicely designed. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming. Staffs are very friendly. We ordered some handmade pralines, raspberry tart and a coffee. Everything was served quickly and tasted beautiful.

Came for tea and cake. Cakes scrumptious. Unfortunately milk for tea was off and teapot leaked. Would visit again.

"Good" I had lived in Poland for 2 years and was craving Polish food. Unfortunately, this was not for me. The pierogi dough was too thick, pork filling was dry. Only the Cheese and potato pierogi was good. So a hit or a miss kinda place. The cakes looked heavenly but I didn't try this time. I may go for the patisserie part of the restaurant and not eat meal there.

Food is horrible but the pastries are nice and tasty

I don't recommend!!! it as a regular customer, I was treated terribly, like pay and don't complain The food was so over salted that it was impossible to eat it and it was a business meeting so my guest was not impressed. at the end we were offered a drink on the house which no one brought. I don't think I would ever want to go back there.

Friendly and attentive service and an upscale interior reminding me of a nice hotel lobby. Authentic Polish flavour according to my Polish friend. I loved the boar pate with jam and the potato and cheese pierogi. Both had great texture and flavour. But the Traditional pork cutlet I struggled with. Pork was a little dry, cabbage was very sour and salty and the potato puree was heavy with ham that was too smoked for me. I think you'll like this if you like strong punchy flavours. The atmosphere in the restaurant is wonderful, all thanks to the wonderful manager Klaudia and the waiter Kuba. I have the impression that it was only thanks to them that I made the effort to come here today and wanted to try, for example, oyster mushrooms

A very good Polish pub, renamed from Sowa to Polka. If you are planning to take your foreign friends for Polish food, it is definitely Polish. The service was always nice and helpful, the pub had undergone a nice metamorphosis, although there was nothing to complain about under the Sowa brand. Dumplings made fresh in front of customers, flawless.

Perfect place to relax and unwind with great service and delicious food. I will be back for sure :)

Years back i used to live in this area so i researched for some polish restaurants and chose this one. After very stressful morning in Embassy and with hungry and very fussy kids we drove here. We were given lunch menu, which to be fair would be just enough for a lunch, but the lady serving us offered dinner menu which really made my day. Food was delicious, i was not very keen to order onion soup but my god that was amazing!! I would drove back there from Northampton just for that soup 😆 Pierogi spot on, we got as well duck(portion was so generous i couldnt finish even half) zurek and polish schabowy. My children loved the food too!(They have nice option for children) Its a very friendly, inviting atmosphere, food is very tasty and most of all fresh. Portion sizes were much bigger than i expected and prices were also very reasonable. Local was very clean and they also have a large selection of cakes! I would strongly recommend this place.

Amazing restaurant, the food is really well executed and full of flavour, but still feels like it's homecooked. The patisserie counter is fantastic and easily does the best quality cakes in Ealing at the same price as a supermarket, which is pretty unreal! Well worth visit for coffee, and going back for dinner.
