Pogue Mahone in Liverpool

Pub and bar hopping around the wonderful Ropewalks district of Liverpool my twin brother and I decided to drop into Pogue Mahone Pub, been here many times over the years and always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. I love the look of this pub, interior is superb, multi roomed, exposed brickwork, a real fireplace, great decor and furnishings, big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a really good pub to unwind in. We were here on a Wednesday night, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we ordered a pint of guinness, these were poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while sipping our guinness. A big fan of the guinness served in The Pogue Mahone Pub ,thick,creamy and most importantly iced cold, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality pint of the black stuff and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world. We both really enjoyed our guinness in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Pogue Mahone Pub we had a great time. The Pogue Mahone Pub is easy to locate along Seel Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from midday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area .

Fantastic gym in the heart of Liverpool had an amazing night and his wonderful pub that is authentic and has amazing music as well as a great range of beers and whiskers for a fun filled evening. This is definitely one of the places to go on a weekend in Liverpool.

Me and my girlfriend tried to walk in, the bouncer refused us because he said we were too drunk. We hadn’t had too much to drink. Within 5 seconds he said “I’ll smash your boyfriend’s head in”. Never had that experience before. Bouncers seemed like they were actively looking to fight with people.

Welcoming, friendly place for an after work drink or two. Good bar staff and plenty of room. The only negative was that the music was stopped in favour of football!

Lively Irish pub with fab Guiness and good live music. BUT the toilets where an absolute disgrace. According to my wife the ladies lavs were equally terrible. They don't need signs to the loos, just follow the p%?? stream and your nose.

Love this establishment. I’m a regular but the bogs smell like a mortuary, horse stables, crack den and rabbit hutch that’s been left untouched since 1955. Bork like f**k when I have a piss but then come out to great booze, wonderful staff and a lovely atmosphere. Please sort the toilets / drains out!!! Honesty is the best policy.

The live music is good, but population controls and customer service is dire; and no amount of folk music can save a venue from rude staff

Laid back pub that serves affordable drinks in the heart of Liverpool's nightlife district. The staff are all really friendly and whether you're dressed up or casual it doesn't matter here. Perfect for sports fans, too as there's always a match on

I've gone past Pogue Mahone many times but I haven't gave it a try before, I popped in recently and thought it was great. There was live music playing and a good atmosphere very enjoyable

Great atmosphere, not quite matched by the service. This place is a great, traditional Irish bar. Thoroughly enjoy every night I go in here. Guinness is great. Music is usually to match in quality. Well located in Liverpool City centre, I would recommend here for anyone who wants to visit an Irish bar when in Liverpool.

Expensive drinks a lot of flies around. Staff not interested in customers sitting on a stool smoking on vapes.

Ordered a double gin and tonic with pint of Camden Hell and they charged £21.00, £16.00 for a double gin and tonic, crazy that you also need to buy a bottle of tonic too. You can buy that particular bottle of gin for £40.00. When we queried it the waitress laughed and said I don’t make the prices up. In the current day they shouldn’t be taking advantage of people.

Great little pub, shows GAA matches. Was there yesterday, barmaid was 1st class.

Called in for a quick pint on a hot sweaty shopping trip. It was quiet apart from a couple of knobs stood by the bar f'ing and jeffing....spolit it really!

Classic old school Liverpool Irish club, brilliant bar and atmosphere, great guinness and brilliant selection of other beers and spirits. Also had a great selection of taytos 😅👌. Open late and a must visit.

Service was poor, if you can get the staff of there phones then you may have a better business!

Beware! The card machine requests a tip which the bar staff don’t warn you about. In the dark they wave the card machine at you and you try to tap your card. We ended up paying over 17 for a pint and a half, and a gin, because a huge tip was added on by my partner trying to tap his card and accidentally touching something else on the screen. I saw it happen to someone else too, so this pub must be raking in “tips” from unwitting punters. Pointed out the mistake to the bar staff but they refused to do anything about it.

Probably one of the top places to get a Guinness, lovely traditional pub, has fantastic live music, it's small and rather close, very narrow, such a good evening

I'm Irish and I've been in some of the best Irish bars at home and abroad. This place is quality. Great drinks, good service, good prices, live music and the locals I met were sound. Ended up here 2 nights in a row. I look forward to coming back in the future!

The barmaid was blunt and rude. She then charged me £6 for a Guinness, which I thought was a bit pricey… the next time I went in I was charged £5.50. Dodgy dealings.

Really good homely pub with great prices. There's a few big TVs in there with various sports on, good range of Irish and Scottish whisky, and plenty of good beers too, always a good laugh!! Dog friendly

On a bitterly cold late afternoon my twin brother Stephen and I headed for the warmth of The Pogue Mahones Pub were we had a great time. I love the look of this pub ,the interior is superb ,exposed brickwork ,a great looking serving bar ,pubby decor and furnishings ,a real log burning fire place ,big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options,it's a great pub to chill out in. We were here on a Thursday late evening ,we ordered and were served a guinness each which were poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle ,we chilled out ,warmed up and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. Guinness served in here is superb,thick,creamy and most importantly served iced cold ,it was just so good being in such a fantastic pub enjoying a quality guinness sat with my twin brother Stephen who is the best beer companion in the world. Went looking for this little boozer after seeing an insta post expressing Pogue Mahone as being one of the best places for a Guinness in Liverpool - they were not wrong! Perfect Irish themed haunt just slightly away from the hustle & bustle of Concert Square. Home to live music (7 days a week), I must have timed it perfectly as an Irish duo were on at the time as I supped my ice cold Guinness which was poured brilliantly. Live sports on the screen too which brings all aspects of the vibe together. Really enjoyed my time here & will definitely return for another bevvy soon!

Great, lively bar! Thoroughly enjoyed the night until, unfortunately, the bouncer got very wound up. One of ours had too much to drink so when he went out for a cigarette he couldn't get back in. No problem with that. That's upto them. My father, 70 years of age, went out to see what happened him. They took his drink off him and pushed him down the street. Unjustified behavior. Dad only went out to check on our friend.

Popped in here on a stag do (only a few of us, we were waiting for the rest to get up). Felt like a nice pub, good ambience, very good Guinness and the lady at the bar was friendly. Would go again if in Liverpool.

I love the look of this Irish pub ,interior is really good ,main room dominated by a solid wood serving bar ,exposed brickwork,great decor and furnishings ,a real fire place ,great wall art ,tv's and big screens to enjoy the sport and lots of seating options ,it's a good pub to chill out in. Pogue Mahone on Seel street is a fantastic Irish pub that offers a brilliant drinks range and is one of the best Irish pubs you will go to in the city centre.This is an excellent Irish pub in a great area of the city centre were there are many pubs/bars and restaurants and gets very lively especially the weekend when the city centre is buzzing. This superb pub has a brilliant interior with many interesting fixtures and features that relate to Ireland and Guinness and superb seating options throughout the whole pubs interior.They show live sport and also hosts live music but on them nights get in here as early as possible if you want a seat. We visited this superb pub in the afternoon and it was just starting to get busy.We took a seat in the main room were we had a few glasse's of Guinness which where perfectly served but at £5.60 for 2 half's of Guinness it's really not that cheap but your in one of the best Irish pubs in the city centre and its Guinness is superb. A fantastic Irish pub in an excellent area of the city centre and very easy to get to from Seel street bus stop it's a short walk.(This is my second review of Pogue Mahone). Opening Hours. Great place to start a day sesh off! Not had miller bottles since Threshers sold them in Eddisbury Sq.

£11 for 2 pints of Heineken ! You have to be kidding me. Just left Fitzgeralds Irish bar around the corner which was about £3 a pint. You may think you’re a nicer pub, but really, you aren’t.

Fantastic room, great staff, love how chill it is! A small walk from Concert Square, but delightly relaxed compared to the party atmosphere so close by.

Proper "Irish" bar although only 4 stars as a bona fide Celtic bar would have a signed strip on the wall. Great Guinness. Hail Hail.
