Nice surroundings, atmosphere and location, but food not that great. I would not go back. Far better places to eat in London than this restaurant, however the bar staff were excellent and lovely little bar to drink in. Although it is little bar by name and nature, so you may struggle to find a chair.

Had they afternoon tea that must not be named. The staff were all lovely and very attentive. Unfortunately the sandwiches were a bit stale and dry the enchanted tomato arancini was flavourless. But the cakes were lovely we especially liked the crunchy passion fruit snitch and the butterscotch beer Panna cotta.

We enjoyed a very relaxed meal here after the busyness of this area of London. It was a hot day and we enjoyed the much cooler environment inside. The staff were very welcoming and very efficient. The set menu was excellent value; all the food was well prepared and well presented. The fish cakes were probably the best we have had.

I’m wondering if we went to a different restaurant today ! Having read a lot of the reviews, thought this would be a good place for my carnivore grandson The actual restaurant is well designed and comfortable, and we had a pleasant welcoming , but there it ended, unfortunately We waited for our pre lunch drinks, especially the elderflower and lemon because “ it had to be made at a different bar “. If only the hotel was that busy to warrant that response The menu was standard fare, both a la carte or open choice. We both had the flat iron steak with chips and broccoli ;was just OK, and could have been cooked by anyone used to a kitchen. We were given each others sauce, which were just switched over by the waiter All in all the service was pretty indifferent, although they did have time to chat to each other ! Sorry, Rails, we won’t be recommending or returning

The restaurant's interior is lovely, and it is a nice room to eat lunch. The waiting staff are really lovely and very accommodating. The only niggle was the food. The lunch menu is £22 for two courses, which is relatively cheap for London. The food on the menu was fine for the price, but the pork was overcooked. We also had muscles, and these were very gritty andeen sock had maybe not bed to remove the grit. They were also a little overcooked. For the price of the meal, the great waters and the ambience of the restaurant, I think the quality-price ratio is about right, but a little more attention to the food would really elevate this place.

Went to rails early before catching a train, restaurant was empty but looked amazing. All the staff we met were very pleasant and helpful especially a young man whose name I didn't catch, he was tall, dark haired and very pleasant and helpfull. Food and all drinks very good, a good selection of food on 2 menu's and cocktails equally good. Will definately use Rails again when in the Kings Cross area.

From the warm welcome on arrival and through the high levels of professional service throughout our lunch, it was a please to eat at Rails. This is most definitely the place for meat-eaters and the Barnsley chop exceeded expectations as did the roasted vegetables with which it was served. Desserts were tasty and appeared home made, as was the tangy blackcurrant sorbet on the side of my pear tarte. With a good bottle of red, what more could you ask? I can’t wait to come back.

We had our corporate Christmas Lunch here last week and what a merry gathering it was. Our group size was 50 so we had exclusive use of the restaurant which provided the perfect backdrop for our festive meal. Maria was the event coordinator who looked after our party and it was an absolute delight managing the event with her. The whole process was professional and efficient and well thought through. From a meal per-order link, various drinks packages to the seating plan, it was all brilliantly coordinated. The staff on the day were a delight. At no time was a glass not filled or a request not dealt with swiftly. The food was magnificent and portion’s generous! Can’t recommend the venue and the entire team enough for their attention to detail and pride in their craft! Thank you Rails and thank you Maria for being so easy to work with.

The food here is excellent. We had smoked salmon, terrine, mussels, scallops and chicken, and it was all delicious. The chef is fantastic. The only reason why it didn't get 5/5 was because of the service. It was haphazard at best. I would still come back for the food though!

These guys do a pretty good job overall. Staff were professional, polite & attentive, delivering a warm, efficient greeting, & bothering to check on how we found our meals, topping up water & noting empty wine glasses. Management also kept a watchful eye & the place felt well run. I’ve stayed previously at the hotel & found that to be the case in general. I opted for the £28 for 3 courses set lunch ( £22 for 2) & found it decent value, with quality options like smoked salmon & seabass. Food was pleasant enough & well presented. Only the cheese course let the side down (a bit dried up). Good wine list & cocktails. It is a handsome dining room, with a good buzz.

At first, impressive, but somehow the food fell well beneath the quality the prices led us to expect -- especially the scallops gratin served on shells. Only four of them, small, overcooked, and dry. The a la carte veggies were disappointing too, the string beans could have been dumped out of a can. There is a positive, I will say: a fine maitre d' who, when we realized the next table of 20-somethings were only going to get louder, moved us swiftly to a quiet corner. Overall, at £168 for two (including two glasses of bubbly and a bottle of wine) not at all worth the fare. Won't go there again.

Food was very good (mostly). The benedicts we had were nicely made (runny eggs) and very tasty, but they were a bit on the cold side (maybe standing on the pass for too long?). The hollandaise sauce was pretty stingy, but tasty. The toast we ordered as a side took a long time to arrive, and in reality was just warm bread. At the corner of Kings Cross this slightly hidden restaurant offers a haven of peace, quiet and comfort from the hustle and bustle down at street level. Wood panelled with comfortable chairs this is a place to relax. A fairly short but appealing menu and excellent wine list are provided. Service is professional attentive and smart. The crab starter and fish main course were well presented very tasty and reasonably priced. Even the desserts tempted me - a delicious and artistically presented crème caramel with added fruits. I had the poached trout for the main course with French fries. The fish was bland though cooked well. I then waited for a waiter to show me the dessert menu. Visited on a Saturday for Brunch. Not bad. Menu had grubby finger marks on it which is something so easily rectified and creates a nicer impression. Waiting staff were ok but didn’t seem very happy or friendly. Nice options on the menu. Food good. The whole experience was just ‘ok’ Would rather get a table at the Booking Office in the St Pancras hotel.

I booked this for my boss for an upscale business lunch and it was a hit. I've had nothing but rave reviews and a request that all our wine & dine plans are booked here instead of German Gymnasium or the like. Definitely recommend and will definitely be booking again. Thanks so much!

I came here with my family to celebrate us getting together for the first time in a while. The food was amazing, with great portions of absolutely amazing food. The appetizers were especially delicious, I cannot recommend the baba ganouj enough. Most of all, the staff was incredibly kind, attentive and generous. We were served by Hassan who gave us a wonderful introduction to Palestinian food, and I cannot wait to come back here in the future. A must try restaurant!

A group of us went there to celebrate a friend's birthday and we had a great time. We were greeted at the door by a pleasant friendly girl and the staff were nice and professional at all times. Especial thanks Adrian and our lovely waitress Eva.Food & Entertainment were very good and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
