Plough Inn - Pub & Carvery in Cheshire East

Once again another fantastic meal at The Plough! Mothersday this time, 5 adults 2 children, fantastic service and above and beyond service once again from the team, with a massive shout to Karen who always looks after us!

Very nice carvery for the price. the beef and turkey were lovely. Some of the vegetables were a bit on the cool side, but I still thought it was excellent value for money. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. well done 👏

Foods normally absolutely fine, today I don't no what happened, the mint sauce was like frogs spawn an tasted like tooth paste. The meat lad gave the littlest portion of meat ever when I had a large but the girl infront who had a normal had more meat than me. Only issue iv ever had here tho. Normally can't fault them.

Last minute stop off for food on our way back to Anglesey. Lovely staff and good service.

First time I ordered a takeout and the last nothing tasted rite 2 thin slices of beef 8 roast hard potatoes which to me were cooked 3 days previously. Highly disappointed 😞

I can’t even give this place any stars! My 4 year old grandson got hit in the head by a plate because the waitress wasn’t looking what she was don’t and didn’t even have the decency to apologise to him or his parents. My son had hair in his food but was then called a liar! Manageress came over but just argued and told us to leave even though some of us were still eating! Absolutely abysmal behaviour will never eat there again!

Lovely evening spent in the Plough for a family Birthday. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Our waitress Karen was so helpful and friendly. Carvery was lovely with a wide variety of meat and veg to choose from.

Not the best evening! We were sat right next to another couple with probably 6 inches between us. We requested to move but were told that we couldn’t as all tables were reserved. We arrived at 17:30 and had left by 18:45 and the tables remained vacant the whole time. Menu-requested two different meals and both not available. Disappointing as they had basically told us that all tables were reserved and already two choices were not available. We settled for the steak pie which was nice but chips were mediocre and not homemade!

Overall an enjoyable couple of hours, meeting family half way, six of us in total, including two children. The staff where very attentive, we were quickly shown to our table. Frankie introduced herself and was excellent throughout. All of the food and drinks ordered were very good, the pint of Abbot was very good. he only slight grumble was the crispy chicken strips that I had were very small and not very many of them. Frankie apologised but said the portion sizes were from head office. I had ordered the chicken strips because I have them several times from other GK pubs where they have been fantastic. Will definitely meet up there again but next time I will ask Frankie for a recommendation. When we left it had got very busy and a small observation was that they could have done wit more staff behind the bar. One of the drawbacks of ordering food at the bar and not the table.

We came for food yesterday and also went into the wacky indoor play area. The food was great, the service was brilliant all the staff were amazing with our little girl especially Karen she went above and beyond for us! We eat out at least twice a week and it makes such a difference for us as a family when someone takes so much time with our daughter! Karen you are amazing and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas thank you again!

We traveled from Birmingham to visited the pub on 15/12. Our booking was for the festive menu for our family Christmas get together with family who live local to the pub. On arrival myself and husband were quite shocked to find the tables for the festive menu were sardined into one corner of the pub. This meant there were three other BIG parties sat within inches of us. To get my little boy and pram in we had to disturb other groups to get past and being someone with anxiety and health conditions this didn’t start the meal off great for any of us. Once the other three parties had gone, we all agreed we started to actually enjoy our time at the pub and could actually hear each other and relax. The food was nice, but we did have to change two of the desserts from Christmas pudding to fudge cake as the Christmas pudding tasted more like basic fruit cake. The only food downside we all shared was that the puddings were cold. One thing we all agreed on was the service from the lady serving us was great, with her little stories and making a fuss of the kids. Also the baby changing facility floor was soaked in water when we went to change our little boy. Hopefully in future this area can be checked More regular to avoid this.

Enough seats for four adults and two children. Carvery was lovely. The Staff member on front of house was warm and welcoming and Karen who dealt with us while seated was a charm too. Thank you.

I had a tea yesterday with some colleagues and I was very disappointed. It was the worst dinner I ever had. The food was not fresh, it was awful and cold. Don't waste your time and money.

Great food, varied menu and such good value. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the payment system went down and staff were running around trying to sort it. The venue is so good. We've booked to come again.

You would be wasting your money. Stay away at all costs. The food is cold and the service abismal. I ordered fish and chips. Guess what———no fish !! There were no sweeteners for my wife’s tea ( which was cold ). Garden peas turned into mushy peas, which weren’t mushy but runny. It took me about ten minutes to order a meal at the bar. The barman was inattentive. He started to serve me, then latched on to someone else and didn’t seem to listen to my complaints.

Went for a carvery with 10 more family/ friends. We have been here a few times previously. Today I had a poor experience with my meal. The beef was tough and inedible, the sprouts were hard and over cooked. Other items were ok. No IPA available. Spoke to the waiteress and supervisor who were surprised with my comments. " we buy in the beef so we can't affect this" . Maybe quality checks could be done? I invited her to try it but did recommend saro, dog like teeth! Other people in my party concurred with my point about the meal. Staff as always polite and helpful. Fire doors blocked was another concern. Table 14 was my reservation at 1pm today if you would like to check my story. Hopefully improvements for my next visit?

We had a family gathering of 20 to remember our dad who had passed away a year ago, the food was lovely, drinks and food were on time, thank you to Karen for keeping us happy and a little surprise for my brother who was 56 xxx

We popped in for tea as a extra treat for my daughters 6th birthday. The team were super, especially one of them who went out of his way to make her feel special. He was fantastic. Even arranging some cake with a candle and joined in singing happy birthday! It's the way we were made to feel that made a massive difference to our visit. Brilliant customer experience - well done.

Although we had to chase couple of kiddies meals, the food was really tasty and enjoyable. 4 adults had a carvery which was excellent value for money. Staff were extremely pleasant and friendly.

My wife and had a fantastic carvery. Prefectly cooked meats and veg and lovely and fresh, made even better by friendly staff, Karen in pertular was so lovely with us, will definitely be returning.

Absolutely lovely experience. Have not visited before. Welcomed by the lovely Franki and taken care of by both Franki and Karen. Such lovely, attentive staff and service. Food was amazing and great value for money plus a play area for the kids to let off some steam. Will definitely come back!

Hadn't been this pub for a long time took the grandkids they loved the inside and outside play areas staff friendly.

Great place for a meal with friends and family, staff lovely, clean and tidy, nice toilets clean. Good atmosphere, we enjoy going there.good play area for the children too. carpark too.

I came with my daughter and 3 grandsons yesterday 2.9.24 From bar staff to floor staff and in particular Karen who was delightful. Lovely food , just all pleasant,helpful and service from each so helpful. Lovelybexperience. Hope to repeat when over this way again.

Poor service had to get the drinks myself , and laughed at my brother (who has a disability ) but the food was average ! I will not be visiting again !

Enjoyed a lovely meal here with the family. Carvery was delicious. Karen was lovely, she provided proper old school Customer Service and we felt like we had been truly looked after. Will definitely be coming back again.

We visited today as a group of 6 and from the moment we walked in we were treated impeccably! The floor staff were attentive and faultless in there attitude towards customers,I have to mention Francesca in particular,she went above and beyond for us, but she was like that with everyone she served. We came for lunch and rebooked for tea! The guy on the carvery was talkative and happy in his work, and the bar staff were jolly,just what you want when you go out as a family! Well done to the plough your team on 17.8.24 were 10 out of 10!

I have updates my review for two reasons. On reflection I was grumpy yesterday, the service was really good. They took the time to reply to my review, so they obviously care. I lived in Alsager in the 80s and The Plough was my regular. I guess my trip down memory lane was spoilt a little by change! Not the fault of the pub. The area I sat was a bit grubby and the table was sticky.

I took my grand daughter and her nan. My grand daughter wanted to have fun in the play area and we then all had food. A good size play area in an area away from the main pub but we were able to order and eat food in the area.

The waitress Karen was amazing and really funny. She definitely made the day more pleasant! Also a big thanks to the chef and barman for great food and drinks!

I went for my lunch and had a carvery, I have been many times and have always had a good and tasty meal, my server Frankie was very polite and attentive, she helped me at the Carvery and then carried it to my table as I am in a wheelchair so I could'nt carry it for myself. Despite it being very busy Frankie has a happy attitude and a pleasant smile on her face. The Plough Inn has got a brilliant member of staff in Frankie and I enjoy my visits. Frankie has 5 stars from me.

Poor quality food with a greasy taste, especially the pigs in blankets, they were awful and oily. Made with cheap sausage and bacon, then left in the fat to soak it up. The meat was ridiculously small portions and just enough for a fork full of each. Was refused a shandy for my 11 year old, which I thought was allowed with a meal... They wouldn't even make a shandy with alcohol free beer either. It's not often i give a poor review, I certainly won't be going back again.

We came for my nephews 5th birthday and booked the Whacky Warehouse but on the day it was closed. We had to wait an hour until the food was served but we were all happy with our food (party of 6) we were exceptionally happy with our service from Frankie. She made us welcome throughout the whole service, entertained us all with colouring pictures and words searches to pass the time for us and entertain the kids. She even sang happy birthday to my nephew. Nothing was too much to ask from her. A credit to your team.

Came out for a carvery and it was fabulous. Sam and Frankie are very friendly, highly recommended! Went above and beyond with everything!

Sunday carvery is excellent and good value I go at least once1 a month can get very busy as people find out how good it is.

BIG FAT SHOUT OUT TO OLLIE (in the resturant). Who gave my little girl a big bag of ice for her wrist when she hurt it in the wacky warehouse. We went through for some ice and he got her the biggest scoop of ice, wrapped it in blue roll, then in a bag, and gave both my kiddos a j20 each. Such a kind, caring, friendly guy. An absolute legend. Such a nice guy! Thanks Ollie!

Very welcoming pub to eat for families with a whole kids menu and also very tasty food for adults. They have a playground and also plates & cutlery for kids. Perfect for a short stop from the M6 to north or south

Incredible carvery! We were greeted straight away, it was lucky that we were as the carvery was just about to close. We were served Dylan and Karen who were both amazing! I wasn’t expecting much considering the carvery was minutes from being taken off but the carvery was the best we’ve ever had. Amazing selection of fresh selection of veg and meats. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
