We just went for drinks and live music, but was a good night...

Lovely pub, friendly atmosphere and lovely staff thanks

What a wonderful pub, The chef was so amenable and happy to assist with my vegetation grandson, the portion size was well worth the money. And the Bar staff went that extra mile to make you feel welcome. And lastly the locals whose pub we had invaded were so so friendly unbelievable it was like we had known each other for years. Keep up the good work everyone your Pub is amazing

Unfortunately this pub is not family friendly. My family and I left abruptly after it was implied to me that breast feeding in this establishment was not appropriate. I later messaged the pub with the following message: Hi, I just wanted to leave a quick message as my family and I left the pub really abruptly this afternoon, after I was approached by someone about breastfeeding in the pub. This the first time in five years that anyone has spoken to me about breastfeeding, ever. Luckily, I am an experienced mum of two and this will not impact my ability to breast feed my child in the future. Please, please in future consider how difficult breastfeeding is. Next time it could be an inexperienced mother of a young baby who is building her confidence. Conversations like this can be the turning point between continuing to breast feed and not. If you are going to continue to be an open and friendly family space then this is something that is going to happen, either be family friendly or don’t let children in. I personally felt humiliated after the interaction today. I was asked to cover myself, which I was already doing under a baggy jumper. I was told I could sit somewhere else, I should not have to sit in a corner because I have chosen to breastfeed my child. Thank you if you have read this far, and I am terribly sorry we left the way we did as up until that point, we were having such a lovely afternoon. This was responded to with: ‘We have read your message and noted your comments‘. A very disappointing response, so all in all I guess it fits well with the experience I had there today. In addition to this I have not rated food because we didn’t have any. And since this happened, the people that we were in the pub with have been barred due to this review. 👌

Had a quite a few lovely nights in the plough with mo and her staff everyone was very friendly and welcoming ,not being great at leaving the house very often recently my partner booked us a meal here on steak night where the chef Chris made me an alternative meal as I don’t eat steak was well and truly the best hunters chicken I’ve had great value for money .we will deffo be booking another dinner with them and visiting much more

My first visit. Only had a pint. A fair price. Quiet cozy. Sells food might get to try. Live music. Enjoyed my pint.

WHAT AN AMAZING PUB! The Plough is such a wonderful place to visit. Mo and her staff are very welcoming and efficient. The food is also excellent and Chris the chef is very enthusiastic and hardworking. It's a real community pub.We love The Plough-it's an amazing pub!

Lovely Landlady and waitress. So lovely on our last visit on Valentine’s Day. Food was delicious. Not the first time we have been there for food and looking forward to the next Steak night. Good value and great atmosphere.

We had the wake after our Dad's funeral yesterday (13th September 2023) at The Plough and would like to thank them for the wonderful buffet and service they provided . The food was excellent and the staff were friendly , polite and respectful of the occasion . Would highly recommend them .

Great service. So warm and friendly. Vegan diet wonderfully catered for. Great pricing. All the great traditional pub games and raffles. They have done a great job on the garden. Wonderful place to visit.

Roast potatoes rock hard, no taste to veg,did not enjoy roast dinner.

Went today met family there, Sunday roast was amazing, portions were good overall brilliant service by staff very welcoming definitely be returning.

Recently held my dad’s refreshments after his funeral at The Plough, Great Clacton. We were made to feel welcome by Mo, Archie and their wonderful team. Chris their chef put on a lovely spread of freshly prepared food, everyone attending commented how nice the atmosphere was in there, we would throughly recommend this pub for events or even a quiet meal and drinks. Thank you all so much for making a rotten day a little brighter.

We love going to this pub. The food is excellent the staff are lovely.

Had a lovely lunch here today with a friend. She had the Hunters Chicken and I had Jacket potato with loads of prawns. Will definitely go back an recommend to my family and other friends.

A very child friendly pub. Staff are fantastic Mo and Archie make you feel welcome. Meals are beautiful and a great price. Fair price for drinks and got a great outdoor garden for the summer months.

Wouldn’t even give 1 star. Tried to come in for a drink with my partner and young baby today. Lady at the bar aggressively told us we couldn’t sit where we were trying to, bearing in mind we didn’t even get a hello as we walked in. Then completely ignored us when we asked where the correct place for us to sit was. We also had our pram with our baby in. We decided to leave as she made us look like right idiots infront of everyone in the pub. Not a pleasant experience. Would recommend ‘The Ship’ over the road if your looking for a pleasant friendly drink.

Lovely Sunday Roast today. I had the succulant Roast Beef and my wife went for the equally tender Roast Turkey. Bothcane with all the trimmings , Yorkshire Pud and Stuffing and fresh veg with of course plenty of roast pots, nice n crispy and luffy inside and lashings of proper home made meaty gravy. Excellent meal and good friendly service. Thanks and be back soon.

Nice quiet lil pub for a catch up

Went for coffee but none available so we had cola. Felt very cliquey and not welcoming. Felt the locals were laughing behind our backs because we didn't order pints and resented us invading their territory.

I loved this pub. Me, my girlfriend & dad were passing through on Saturday afternoon & I suggested popping in. Very glad we did. The barmaid was so friendly & was a cosy pub. Will definitely return when back in Clacton

Best food i had in clacton cod bite wow my friend had a the chicken bite she love waiting time was under 10 mins and the straff are so freindly we had the onion rings amazing. Beautiful english food in a bucket will be seeing next week thank u all for great serives

Food was great. Loved the burger, had some of the Fire Sauce in my burger and for my chips. Would of been a 5* place but the chef wouldn't take me to the beach.
