Pleasing Chinese Takeaway in Newcastle upon Tyne

Best gravy ever supporting my Aunty who lives in the area so had food there for our tea local 😋

Quite possibly the worse Chinese takeaway I've ever had. I ordered Cantonese sweet and sour chicken, and whilst the sauce was fine the chicken was pretty much inedible. Overlooked/reheated to the extent I couldn't actually cut through it with a standard knife. Rice tasted okay but was visibly reheated as the rice towards the edge of the container was crispy/dried out. Will never order again.

Everyone has favourites and some folks have nemesis places (mines - the Badger). This place is a little gem. Cash only remember. Like me they want to make sure they have personal control over their money, we know the gov isn't capable of that. Back to the pleasing. Where else can you get kungbo ribs, special fried rice, fish, chips and mushy peas on the same order. Always had a good one. It's a take away folks, and it's basic front hides the magic being done out back. No music, no TV. You've gone to a takeaway, they have seats to wait on, you've got your phone, entertain yourself xxx

First time in since it changed owners again had a good takeaway meal i would recommend it. very pleasant staff a good new menu

Great Chinese takeaway, recently under new ownership, food was both plentiful and fantastic quality and portion sizes, would certainly recommend.

Been here a couple of times recently and noticed it has had change of hands and what a change it has been, the food is just out of this world now and is now back to being my favourite again like it was years ago.

just had the meal for one, chicken curry and house special in cantonese sauce, good value for money and fed two people not just one, also had the spare ribs and they were well covered in sauce and everything was piping hot, the first order since the change of owners and wow, it was even better than before, I will be back

Unfortunately, the food was not good, burnt prawn crackers, burnt onion rings so bad they had no onion inside, burnt spring rolls and chips, curry and special fried rice not very nice, won't be returning.

Absolutely the best chinese take away in my area & probably all of Newcastle. Very generous portions & genuine Chinese flavours. Delivery service excellent.

Went for fish and chips on this occasion . Good size fish, large pots of curry anew mushy peas, spot on. Chips were cooked but could of been a little longer for my liking though. I normally find ttfn over done from take aways so at least proves all freshly done. 👍

I used to live next to this 10/11 years ago when it was called Red House Takeaway and was owned by different management (changed management in the last 6-7 years). The food was lovely until the management changed. I used to order a main with a side plus an additional side so I could split the meal over two days which it used to taste just as good re-heated the second day. However since the management changed the quality of food has gone down hill, not just the Chinese menu but also the Chippy side of the menu. Chow mein is liquid logged with oil and soy sauce, fried rice is dry and chips are hard and dry (used to be crispy but fluffy inside). I only get food from here now if I'm passing to see if it has improved but

This is Chinese is absolutely lovely, promt, polite and always on time when getting deliveries. Try fish and chips too! they are very tasty..

Didn't enjoy at all , meat was fatty, prawn crackers were awful

not even worth the 1 star,Chicken curry had no taste and chicken was dry also for a fish and chip shop they use frozen chips which were also horrible and dry TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY

Best Chinese takeaway in the northeast, head and shoulders above everything else, tasty food and quick service, been using this shop for the past year and the food gets tastier every time, delivery service spot on also

I cannot understand the negative reviews on this site. In my experience over several years, the food has always arrived promptly and was what I ordered and tasted wonderful. I ordered special chop suey with fried rice and sweet and sour chicken with chips, a veritable feast.

I have read the negative reviews below with surprise. Without doubt this is the best Chinese takeaway in the country, not just Newcastle, with wonderful food, of a high standard and quality.Added bonus is it is not expensive. I would not go anywhere else. I have never used the delivery option, preferring to collect it myself to ensure it is hot, but I’ve read positive comments on Facebook from people who have used delivery with no complaints.

Always loved the food so I dont know what happened yesterday. Placed an order, it was like warm as driver couldn't find my address. Hot and spicy wasnt spicy and the chicken was chewy and tasteless, like the cooked chicken strips you buy frozen from the supermarket. Everything was dripping in oil. Will not be using again

Would have gave it zero stars if I could ring for my food and it was here within five minutes for it to get here after costing 20 pound with reheated chicken and chips soft on the outside and hard in the inside the chicken was soft chewy and not hot what so ever half a tub of curry sauce and everything was full of fat no meat on anything and all next to cold the batter was thick of grease they used whatever scraps they had microwaved it then delivered it to us! I’m absolutely disgusted and to make things worse I tried to ring at 10:11 to complain and say I wanted a refund as I was not pleased at all the shop does not close until 10:30 but the phone rang and rang I have now called 4 times with no answer! The shops now closed but I will be ringing back in the morning as I am furious with the poor service!

Absolutely best chinese ive had in far never had a bad meal yet everything a1 from service to delivery really recommend it

Salt & Chilli Chicken and Crispy Chicken Seaweed both binned after two bites due to soft, squishy, grey greasy chicken. First and last time. Maybe an off night but poor none the less.

Disgusting and very greasy. Fish batter was soft and not crispy and loaded with grease. Chips were dry and hard, not crispy. We used to frequent before new owners took over. We shall not be darkening their door again.

The meals do seem to have recently changed and not as appetising as we used to expect. I understand that there may have been a recent change of operator. Our recent meals were decent but it was noticeable that changes had been made to cooking and ingredients. No major issues but not the standard previously seen. I'm disappointed that the standards set have dropped because the local alternatives aren't any better currently in NE3.

This takeaway has recently undergone a change of ownership and it's going badly. Recipes changed to cheaper ingredients, chips are thin and very soggy, and clearly cooked in ancient oil, prawn crackers clearly bought in the local supermarket (but still charged at £1.50). It's going to be a long time before I return here!

This has been our favourite Chinese since we moved to Kingston Park over ten years ago. Never had a disappointing meal in all of the years we have used them. We don’t even have to tell then who we are when we phone in our order (they recognise our voice). We have tried others local for the sake of change but always return to our favourite. Also have a really nice delivery driver who is a pleasure to meet each time. First class!
