An enquiry to book a private lunch function for 80 people was met with a refusal to show me the private dining room ,give me sample menus and discuss the bar arrangements or indeed discuss anything.about the booking which would have grossed the hotel about £8000.I was clearly expected to book and then experience the faded glory of a hotel which 30 years ago was the best in Newcastle.I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole now.

Absolutely awful service. We were given a set menu, half the items weren't available including a dessert item that was dished out as kids ice cream instead of the actual dessert with staff claiming they didn't have the actual dessert available. The sides were brought out about ten minutes after everyone had eaten their meals. The chicken burger was nice but came with a kids serving of chips. Staff blamed a busy kitchen for their poor service, however we were one of only 3 tables eating at the time. Awful, service with disgustingly over priced food. Won't ever dine here again.
