The food was fresh and piping hot!

Always good food but how hard is it to check that everything is in the bag? Missed our curry sauce, which means the meal overall is dry now. Yeah, sure, can get a refund, but doesn't solve the issue that the meal is ruined. Shame.

Food not delivered at all, phoned Plassey St chip shop who said to take it up with Just Eat, no way of complaining about no food being delivered!

I ordered food as my son was with me to stay there was missing item also the food was stone cold we were both very disappointed & couldn't eat the food not a good experience spoilt our night.

I'm still waiting, I called the restaurant and they said it wasn't them even my order wasn't delivered at all even the website says delivered. I order regularly on just eat, never had problem. Pi**ed off

Black chips been stood around stuck to paper. Sausage in batter soggy. This is the second delivery that’s been like this. Such a shame from the best chippy in Penarth. Maybe don’t do deliveries if you can’t process them in time. We only live 10 minutes from the shop. If we order again we’ll go to the shop. Sort out your potatoes though. There were lots of black chips

This is probably the best fish and chips shop in Penarth, maybe even Cardiff. Nice people although some still learning on the job a few times I've been and as it's so popular the queue can be unpredictable. Amazing food though, everything is 5 stars on the menu.

fish portion was very thin, hardly any fish. delivery driver couldn't find my flat. I had to go looking for him.

Drinks wasnt put into our order. The food was nice, but with no drinks.

As always our gluten free and regular fish and chips were beautifully cooked, crisp, hot, tasty and very generous portions. Easy to order and collect. Highly recommend.

Last Saturday popped up to get fish and chips. I was served by the owners son and he was very polite. How ever when I took my chips back because they were verging on ridiculously cold. He said to me that he would change the chips this time because it was my fault and my attitude was crap. Well he flicked my switch and I went from east to west in a split second. He then told me he would pay me £5 and a bag of chips to leave. My face started to twitch and isaid that bribery is illegal...so I left with another bag of chips. When I got home they were worse than the first bag. Surely selling cooked food thats supposed to be hot, and is not is a job for trading standards. And it looks like the tabards are passed arround by all the staff because they are filthy.

More than £5 for a large bag of chips to find was same size as a normal portion we ordered. £15 fish an chips for an average tasting meal?? Maybe just me missing something?

This chip shop has gone right downhill. Dried out pies and pasties all the time and todays special was undercooked chips

The meals of 2 cod and a single chips was the worse fish and chips ever purchased I have not bought from this restaurant for some years it has obviously changed hands since Georgio's All wet greasy batter hardly any fish and the chips were soggy with grease I will not be going there again

Chips wre hard no tast posably reheated had before and the food was outstanding.

I don't throw away food but I couldn't eat such bad fish. My girlfriend didn't say a good word about the chicken either

Went here for gluten free fish and chips. Server reassured me it was gluten free and cooked separately. They had info on the walls about allergens in each dish. However, I was then feeling unwell straight after, so perhaps there was some cross contamination or not 100% gluten free. Very tasty, but perhaps not for you if you are coeliac.

Fish bites were ridiculous… where’s the fish?? Greasy and just batter! Chips were also greasy and I won’t be returning! How did they win an award? Wasn’t on quality that’s for sure!!

Good size portions of chips, ordered 2x small chips 1x battered sausage and 1x chicken mushroom pie. Portions of chips were a good size, and of good quality. Chicken mushroom was nice coming out of the range with a good crisp and not soggy like others who just heat in a microwave. They also take cards for payment too which was very convenient

Very helpful staff, on time order, gluten free option is SUPER helpful. Regular fish and chips were a bit mushy, but appreciated none the less

Usually Plassesy Fish bar very good - however on this occasion, I ordered Gluten Free plaice and chips, amongst other things and when we got home and started eating it - well the fish and batter was so salty it was completely inedible and we had to throw it out. The other items were fine - it was just the plaice. So my partner called the shop to tell them and ask for a refund on the plaice and they flatly refused - in fact they were rude and unhelpful. It’s outrageous to treat customers like that. They have now lost these regular customers and I will be advising friends and family to give Plasseys a wide berth! From now on! 0/10 - definitely not approved.

10/10 every time. Our go to fish and chip shop, we wouldn't go anywhere else. Batter is excellent, curry is sauce i great and the chips are the best around

A family take out from plassey fish bar recommended as we are new to the area ....... Overall rating is poor due to the quality of the Cod that's if it is cod 3 potions ordered ?.... service was quick in fairness on a very busy evening. I would rather have waited for better quality fish .... The chips were OK irish curry sauce and battered sausage good ...

I can honestly say everytime I go here people are queuing out of the door. Food is great, we usually have the fish and chips. It's freshly made, huge portions.

The chips and (battered) sausages are always good but if you're ordering anything with chicken it's often very poor quality. Although the service is always good and (as long as you don't order anything with chicken), the food is up to the standard of a local fish and chip place

We had a delivery on 14th February 2023 for 6 people. It was a large order. Sadly it was stone cold when it arrived. We raised it with the manger who was dismissive and offered no apology or recompense. We have used this fish and chip shop for many years but no more.

Food wasn't hot, delivery was almost an hour later than expected. Disappointed

After phoning 4 times to see where our food was it turned up barely warm. Went to the wrong house was told would make fresh and be with us within 15 minutes. 30 minutes after that it turned up. Wont order again

Our delivery was 30 minutes late, even though I had a notification 15 minutes before delivery due that my order was on its way. The food was more lukewarm-cold, it wasn't enjoyable unfortunately.

Good quality food, very generous portions!

The food bought here recently was truly disappointing compared to other visits in the past. We fancied fish & chips and here is our go to place when in the area. You couldn’t identify the Cod as ordered, although it was okay to eat there was no skin on it at all and it was oblong shaped. To me it looked like it had been thinly cut from a frozen block of fish on a bandsaw, not the usual chunky and flakey fillet of Cod with skin on bought on previous visits. I’m an experienced fisherman and know the different fish skins served in fish & chip shops a thing I look for when consuming a fish dish. The meal was very greasy and not even one chip had any crispness to it at all, needless to say most of it went in the bin !!!

Excellent. My son and I had Sea Bass and chips which was superb. The chips were perfect and the sea bass battered and cooked to perfection. There are even three choices of curry sauce flavour.

When we got home we noticed that they had not included two pie we had ordered. We had to go back and get them and staff weren’t apologetic.

Perfect place for fish and chips ! Excellent value for money and the food is the best all round. Top service too.. You may find a bit of a cue here but that goes to show the quality of their food which keeps people coming back and its always fresh. There is no dine in service here. Park anywhere you can find parking. Enjoy

Really disappointed under cooked chips and awful tasting anemic looking chicken breasts . Had to cook chips in our air fryer for another 7 minutes. They were very busy at 18.30 but need to improve. Won’t go there again 😒

Square shaped fish? what’s that about, dripping in yellow fat, definitely wasn’t cod took the dripping wet batter off the fish as it was inedible the fish was the same processed fish as in a cheap fish finger , never again, gone right down the pan , wont have a go about the gloopy curry sauce, chips were average

Gravy like water overall bland food but not terrible if your looking to fill your stomach with some stodge go here but if it's a tasty chippy maybe visit their competition down the road

Food was very good, but there was no small fish and the guy wouldn't half a large fish which would of been easy enough so had no choice but to spend extra money on food that was going to be wasted. Could of been a little bit accommodating.

Best fish and chips in Penarth. Certainly 100% better than the Posh chip shop around the corner. Queues are usually long here but that's because everyone loves it. Portion sizes are brilliant, fish is mostly cooked fresh especially when busy. Prices are very competitive and service is quick. I certainly recommend this place!

I did ask for salt and vinegar, but they must’ve have the tub of salt on all of my food🤢

I have been using this chip shop for the last 25 years. I've always had good food and don't use another chippy in Penarth. I ordered takeaway as I was busy and the chips were underdone massively, some hard and cold in the middle! Not sure if there was new staff or something but really disappointing.

Great gluten free food choices. Good non meat options. Good size portions. Very good prices. Food clearly labelled "Gluten free" etc. Staff very open with customers and open to answer any questions

The best fish and chips for miles! A huge cod, lovely fresh chips and the best Irish curry sauce too. A little pricey, it's the area, but totally worth it. Collect and drive on up to Penarth front to sit and people watch 😋👀

Friendly staff, always a queue of people. Staff don't give receipts and will ask for customers orders in batch even before serving everyone, so can get busy and confusing to receive your order and staff get confused too.

Make sure you get them to triple check the order because twice just isn’t enough. Missing items and wrong items !!!

Thoroughly recommend the Sea Bass, absolutely superb.
