Just spent £60 on 4 fish and chips and some other small bits. I don’t understand how a chip shop can mess up cooking chips. The majority were raw and anemic. Fish was decent to be fair but undercooked chips beggars belief in a chip shop. Should have listened to the other reviews……just put a timer on??

Great location for a chippy by the sea

Great vegan options, really good food. The staff were really polite and knowledgeable about vegan options. My family and I loved it and will be returning very soon.

Decent food but kids meals aren’t even on the price list. I ordered for the 3 kids who were with me and the server didn’t mention ‘oh we do kids meals’ either. Place was also messy and tables not that clean. Small criticisms but that place could actually be so much better if it was just run properly with a bit more attention to the basics.

Popped in as really fancied fish and chips (it’s rude not too when by the sea, right?). It was busy so was a good sign, joined the queue with my daughter and it was going down fast. Staff taking orders quickly and people receiving their food with not very long wait times! My husband has a nut allergy and egg intolerance, the gentleman behind the counter was very informative and reassured me while taking my order. Fish and chips was delicious and actually found it way cheaper than where I am from! Was a nice surprise! The only downside was paying 20p for ketchup sachets as you need so many with a toddler! Other than that cannot fault!

Chips and savaloy. Nothing much to say. Husband had it. Said it was O.k.

Picked based in Gluten free and diary free recommendations. Amazing food, brilliant service, reasonably priced,and on the list for all of us to go again!

Had food there yesterday the chips were lovely the guy behind the counter could see we weren't going to eat a bag of chips each so he put one portion into 2 cartons I thought that was very nice

Very very expensive and small portions. £8 for cod then £4 on top for a small scoop of chips, £7 for 6 vegan nuggets on their own. Won't be going back.

The best gluten free fish and chips I've had. Really recommend eating here. The staff were friendly. Fish was lovely and batter really crisp and the chips were fab too. Really couldn't fault them. Can't wait for the Gluten Free Scampi to be available. We will be back 🤗

Highly Recommend!!! Visited Cardiff for the weekend from Birmingham, I’m not one to really leave reviews but I had to leave one for these chips!!!😍 They were so crispy and light, you could tell the oil was fresh, curry sauces and vegan options too. One of the best portion of chips I’ve eaten

Excellent food marred by poor service around 3 o'clock today. I got served quickly and waited for it along with 2 people in front . They got theirs , a customer who came in a couple of minutes behind me got hers . The staff member who took my card payment then looked at me as if I had 2 heads. I approached her and asked if my order was ready to which she gave me a sheepish child like grin . I then raised my glasses and said 'You do remember serving me don't you ? ' Same reaction . The young lady who had taken a card transaction 3 minutes earlier seemed to have no recollection of it whatsoever! Another member of staff who seemed more switched on served me my order but I had visions of pleading for the food for which I had paid ! As already stated it was great food but my advice would be to ask for a receipt or have your banking app ready to prove that you indeed paid for your order .

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had!!

Wonderful each time, lovely view. Staff very friendly, and the service for a busy outlet is very good. Well worth the wait. Very clean. Fish 🐠🐟 tastes fresh and melts in mouth, nice crisp batter. Irish curry tasty, not to spicy. Chips hot and crisp. I don't live local but well worth the trip. Recommend a visit. View of the pier and sea adds to the experience.

beautiful food, I don't normally choose fish as an option but im so pleased I did... the fish had so much flavour and the batter was lovely, very impressed and can't wait for another visit! thank you to all the staff too as they were so friendly ❤️

Husband said the fish was a very disappointing quality for a sea front fish and chip shop, expected bigger and better for £8 plus chips!! I had the homemade chicken and ham pie and the top really hard, difficult to break with my hands, no chance with a wooden fork.

Absolutely shocked to see one of the guys working there handling food with his hands, no tongs and no gloves. Upon questioning this I was told “he’s washed his hands” I don’t care if he’s washed his hands 15 times, I don’t want someone handling food with their hands that I’m about to eat. Did we learn nothing after covid? Shocking.

Disappointed. Very dry fish. Chips must have been scraped from the bottom of the barrel. Hugely overpriced. Don't bother pre-ordering, you still end up behind 8 other customers.

Probably the worst chip shop I have been to, Chips were dry and old, like they had been sat there all day, the sausage and batter was burnt, the pie my mum had was stone cold in the middle and was very expensive, definitely will not be returning

Visited Penarth and had fish and chips from here, service was excellent, food lovely cooked fresh while we waited, excellent value and location, will definitely eat here again 🙂

Went here last night and couldn’t have been happier. Loads of vegan options, we had battered vegan sausage with gluten free chips with vegan curry sauce and gravy. Everything was spot on from the flavour to the portion size. We’ll definitely be back

Beachcliff has been a favourite spot of mine for years, I'd missed it while it was closed this winter. I was initially concerned when I found out management had crossed hands. I was further concerned after reading recent reviews. All that said I thought I would try it for myself. I visited this evening and was happy to discover that that they still have gluten free options available and the staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered the meal deal - fish, chips, sauce and a drink - £12.50 The manager also informed me that the menu is still in the re-opening phase and that they're hoping to extend the menu over the next month or so. I'm glad I gave it a chance and didn't let the bad reviews put me off!

4 members of staff were behind the counter but only one was taking and preparing orders, waited about 10 minutes for my food, not good enough for a chip shop. The other two were cooking but just stood chatting while waiting for the food to cook. The fourth was cleaning tables and chatting. Better use of resources is needed.

Poor dry chips and awful value for money. This chip shop won’t last long.

Prices have gone up ridiculously since reopening and the food is not as good either.

Cardiff locals took us there and I have to say we were not disappointed at all! Mashed peas, chips and fish all freshly prepared. The staff and owner were extremely friendly, we even got aditional portion of fish and sausage for free.

Overall experience was excellent. Enjoyed my first visit at this newly opened chip shop, quality of food was outstanding, the staff and the customers service were spot on, looking forward to my next visit.

Beautiful seafront to have some amazing fish and chips, unfortunately it wasn't. I hate when businesses open in places like this and think they have a captive audience, the fish was quite nice but everything else was overpriced and cheap. Couldve been a much better experience in my opinion.

Scandalous prices and nothing about the food or service to justify the prices. Fish and chips with a sauce will cost you almost £15. This is meant to be because they source the finest ingredients but all chip shops say that. There is a chip shop on the pier that sell fish and chips for £8. This place is just a pure rip off. Nothing special about the food either and staff quite frankly don't care. The sauces you get are half full in the cartons too. This used to be an amazing place, what happened??. Don't fall into the trap of it being sea front location.

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Excellent customer service!! Very reasonably priced with superb seafront views. Staff were amazing!! Will definitely be coming back.

Wouldn't bother, unless you've got money to throw away.. Best part was the fish, but no option for box meal ( fish, chips and mushy peas) so have to buy it all separate, the chips were disgusting, more like a tray of scraps.. kids meal was dull for £6 one overcooked sausage and a few chips. Drinks are all £2 even with the fruit shoot saying .85p RRP. Owner was a grumpy old man who only perked up when a few teenage girls walked in. He then proceeded to walk outside the shop then back into the kitchen numerous times without washing his hands etc.. at least I know where NOT to go for fish and chips.

Was absolutely unbelievable. Couple months ago was a tasty place for us, now it’s a different staff and a rubbish taste of tempura( just wheat flour).Chips not tasty at all. Was around 6 pm and lots of menu options unavailable, nor boxes for food, nor beer,nor gravy,nor proper staff. Like I said This was a great place for years now I will never go back to.

Closed down! Such a shame used to enjoy going here even though their prices are very expensive. Annoyed at how inconsistent there opening hours were when they were open for business.

They are good if they are open but the hours on Google are incorrect, have no idea when they actually open.

We have been here twice this week especially for the lush food here. But closed both times when it is advertised as open online.

Huge queue, 2 people working their hardest.

Sadly didn’t get a chance to sample the food. My wife and I were ignored by the staff and afterwards was told there isn’t any chips left. Then some additional bad attitude when I asked if they could have told us that 10 mins ago.

It's ok. Slow, ponderous service but the food is acceptable if overpriced. Staffed by kids. Need to clean the tables and sweep the floors. Bit dirty.

Super tasty fish and chips, not too oily, yummy battered cauliflower. We went on a really rainy day so can't say atmosphere was anything other than comfortable for the time, would like to go back when sunny

For an American visiting the UK, it doesn't get much better than eating fish and chips in Penarth! Delicious food and a beautiful view of the Bristol Channel.

Food not of usual standard, gluten free fish over cooked, chips overcooked, staff to busy on phones to take order correctly, music much to loud, perhaps that is why empty at 6 o'clock on a Saturday night.

Speedy service, the vegetarian options of halmoni and Cauliflower were very tasty, but, the chips slightly undercooked. The tables were clean and tidy

Chips were frozen! You don't expect to get frozen chips in a chip shop. Couldn't fault the fish it was lovely but wouldn't visit again purely because of the frozen chips.

I had heard good things about this chip shop due to its wide variety of choice and catering for Gluten intolerant and Vegan. When we arrived we queued out through the door and waited for over 35 minutes. While queuing we heard people in front getting cross and then left. Eventually we were able to order only to be told that we would still have to wait a further 15 minutes as there was an issue. Eventually we received the food so walked over to the pier to eat them only to realise the chips were soaked in grease and a pile of mush. They were inedible and we had to buy food at the pier for a fraction of the price. Never again! Why the staff didn't inform people in the queue that there were issues instead of just standing around doing nothing?

Large Battered Cod cooked whilst I waited. Very good quality. Chips were over cooked and appeared to be reheated from previously. I I know freshly cooked chips and these were definately not freshly cooked, unlike the Battered Cod. Nice helpful staff and I will return, but hope I'll be more impressed next time.

Yesterday the queue was out of the door and the long wait was made even more frustrating when the cod bites and chips arrived - soggy and chips were just a mush - just had a sorry off the staff but no offer to replace - will be avoiding this place in the future.

Must do for fish n chips on the Penarth promenade. Can eat in or takeaway. Also sells small selection of drinks, incl mini bottles of wine to accompany your meal.

Popular as evidenced by the long queues to be served, somewhat chaotic service after orders are taken. We had take out food, it was good. Interesting choices - battered cauliflower was good. Not cheap

Really nice size fish if you have a large cod. Food is really nice. 2 young boys on the till. Had our food in drips and drabs. Don’t think they could arrange a piss up in a brewery. Other than that food spot on

Probably the best choice for fish and chips if you are at Penarth pier. Nice and clean inside if the weather's not great outside, speaking of outside, there is outdoor seating available with tables and benches. Parking is hit and miss with spaces available all down the road but it is busy. Prices are higher than average due to the location and wait times can be high.

Standard scampi was a little bit chewy but in general liked it. Great chips and curry sauce, would recommend to anyone walking across the Penarth pier!

Useless untrained staff. There seemed to be no proper process in place. Staff were reacting to orders once they were made rather than planning in advance. if someone ordered 1 portion of chips, they would put them on to dry and wait for them before serving others.painful to watch and we had to leave. Staff were mixing job roles rather than focussing on one task. this is all really basic stuff that fast foot outlets have perfected for many years now. The food options looked great, but if the service is so bad, I expect that the food would also be cooked poorly. Shame.

Waited 40 minutes for a portion of sausage and chips. Really poor service and very mediocre food. This was our 2nd visit and both experiences have been bad. We won't be visiting a 3rd time.

Fabulous rough and ready fish and chips. This is not gourmet, this is not the cleanest and tidiest restaurant in Wales. But if you want a very decent, fresh, well sized fish and chip meal on the sea front at a very decent price then this is the place. Deep fried cream egg available if your arteries can stand it. Also has decent vegan offerings too. Recommended.

We visited here on Saturday evening. The wait for just 2 portions of chips was over 30 minutes. There wasn't even that many people in the queue. When we sat on the bench to eat them they were cold! Overpriced, slow and not worth it. Better to get chips from town and drive down to eat them.

Have used this fish and chips shop for a few years now and even though a bit more expensive always been worth it till yesterday tea time. I’m absolutely disgusted with what I had for my money. I paid nearly £24 for a child’s fish bite & chips & drink + 1 large fish, 1 regular fish, 1 portion of chips, mushy peas & curry sauce. The large fish, well if you could call it large was so small that it got lost in the box, the small fish fit in the corner of the box. The fish & taste reminded me of something I’d buy from a Supermarket & stick in the oven, it was not a nice fluffy batter that I expect from this establishment & that I’ve had in the past. The mushy peas were like water & the child’s drink was always a fruit shoot not the cheap carton drink he had. In fact the child’s meal looked more appealing than our did. So very disappointed in this meal, definitely not vale for meal, definitely did not taste like their fish from before & during Covid. I understand prices etc have affected the trade but hey guys this was not the standard I expected for my money. I don’t think I will be buying a fish supper from your establishment again. It was absolutely disgusting

Always loved it here but Saturday was dreadful!! Service slow and poor and good not very nice at all!! Hopefully not anything permanent!!!

We had Great food but thay need to sort out the slow service, waited 25 minutes for fish and chips, we sat down inside to eat and had to wipe the table down ourselves as it was covered in alsorts of food left from the previous customers and the bins were over flowing.
