Always pop in every now and then for the thick shakes or the iced coffee. Would highly recommend. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great drinks just not very quick service. Can be stood waiting for 5 before being served and then another 10 to receive drinks. Staffing needs to be looked at I would say.

Wow...what a Find!!! Saturday morning and cutting it fine for a meeting so had to eat on the way..... Just popped in here while i was passing on Business and so pleased to find such a delight!! I was early .. so when I arrived to join a waiting queue, I thought GREAT!!! 'I'm definitely in for a treat here!' And I was right!! Full marks to Staff and all! Thank you - keep up the good work! I'LL BE BACK!! 😁

Nice vibe. I prefer sitting by the window looking out and enjoy a lovely morning. Good service but a bit slow. Overall, a good place to refrequent in a small city

Called in because i wanted a coffee before i went home,sat outside very nice coffee,clean aswell,polite staff.

It was my first visit to Planet Coffee although I have been past it many many times. The first thing that hit me upon entering was the wonderful smell. It was late morning and the place was full which is always a good sign. The coffee was really good. Will definitely visit again and have some lunch next time.

My go to place on Newland Avenue for the last twenty years. I haven’t been for a while but decided to pop in with friends. It really was a lovely experience- the new owner is chatty and kind. Doing his best to bring some changes in the way of folk groups etc performing here. The main thing I’ve always loved is the home made stuff this cafe put on. Over the last few years it has dwindled a bit and factory stuff has been on offer. There was a lady who made the cakes for years and we had a lovely choice of cakes and bakes, I used to buy the scones to take away, they huge! Do please get a baker and you will see the queues out of the door as in other years. I know Newland has attracted some unsavoury characters of late but please, get this place right back to where it was- the best coffee shop on Newland since 2000. A big welcome to the new owner, hope you are successful.

A tall guy was so blunt and rude at the till, doesn't show patience, I've been told he's the cafe owner, was embarrassing to me in front of my gf! Not recommended at all!

This is my favourite place to take my children for a treat. I have 4 children ranging from 9 months to 8 years old. The staff are always amazing with them and they ask to come every weekend. Delicious food and drinks, something for everyone (including intolerance's) All the staff have taken the restrictions seriously so this is also the only place I feel totally comfortable knowing it's super clean. I cannot recommend highly enough ❤

I've been taking my grand son in here since he was a baby hes now 4 . He wanted a slush ( from another shop ) . So at the door of the coffee shop I was told he couldn't come in with a slush. This place through the pandemic has been shut for 10 months. They must be raking it in to turn my business away. A child a baby was refused entry for a slush . What has happened to people . Well planet coffee I'm a taxi driver and theres going to be quite a few people who'll find out about your draconian stance on children

Dropping my Daughter back to Uni and we came out for a snack, coffee and cake. The care and attention given to us by the "front of house" person was EXCEPTIONAL! She could not have been more helpful and lovely. They serve great food, with loads of vegan, vegetarian options - all great quality and decently priced. Will return when we come back to Hull. Thank you for all that you are doing and for keeping your customers safe and happy.

Thank goodness for take away at our favourite place during these hard times of lockdown. A lovely birthday treat of afternoon tea. Ordered at last minute but as usual nothing is too much trouble! Always service with a smile and this place cheers you up no end! A platter for two was amazing, really went down well along with our usual Mocha. Saved half for later to enjoy all over again😀 Fabulous selection and the cakes are to die for!!

We had afternoon tea yest from Planet Coffee! It was amazing and absolutely couldn’t fault it! As always, the quality of food was perfect and so was the presentation. In addition to this we feel value for money is better than anywhere else we’ve had or seen afternoon tea!

I’ve been coming here since I was little as my mum use to bring me as a treat for cake and a coke float, I visited last week, the staff are all lovely and even with strict guidelines makes you feel welcome, the coffee tastes wonderful and the cakes are to die for, keep up the good work especially with your cleanliness, you put other establishments to shame

We’ve not visited for a while with all the restrictions but since the re openings decided to pay a visit. Had our usual Mocha’s and lovely cake. Was so nice to see the owners, cheerful and welcoming as always! Completely Covid safe. Track & trace done properly! Distanced & making sure everyone wearing Masks. Complete opposite to anywhere else we have been! This is how it should be done & maybe things would slow down & stop spreading! Love the new painting on the front. Something nostalgic for us on Newland but this place feels like home. Roll on one month because we will be back as regulars!! Stuff anywhere else until they get their act together!!

Food was dry, service was terrible- staff rude, no greetings upon approach to the cafe (no staff member smiles in that place). The coffee shop/ eatery opposite barista are a lot more friendly, welcoming and food quality is miles better, as is the artisan.

Popped by for a drink and was asked to wear a mask whilst entering and whilst traversing the cafe. Seating arrangements had clearly been well thought of to minimise the need for screens. Everyone was greeted upon entry and updated on how service had changed a little. Everywhere a customer sat was cleaned down immediately after they had left, ready and safe for the next customer. It really does seem to have been meticulously thought through. I’ve been to a few places since they’ve been able to open and this is by far the most hygienic and comfortable place I’ve been to. Oh and not to forget the drinks and panini were as amazing as they’ve always been! Thank you for taking the time to make everybody feel so safe and welcome!!

Absolutely the best- great sanitation and friendly faces. So nice to have a lovely drink, only thing missing is the signature planet coffee carrot cake- been sampling it for the last six years. Sad to see the avenue so quiet but hopefully it will pick up soon. Quite a few dog walkers out today which is nice to see.

Times are not easy for coffee shops at the minute, trying to get started again after lock down whilst also trying to keep staff and customers safe. The staff at Planet Coffee are doing an amazing job, still serving great food and coffee whilst providing very friendly and professional service.Thanks guys, see you again soon.

So glad Planet Coffee is open again. Covid safety was very good. Had a lovely Iced Latte and their chocolate caramel shortbread is just THE best!! Thank you!

The cafe is my favourite in hull. The coffee is great and the atmosphere is too. The plastic screens and the intensive cleaning methods were incredibly reassuring and made me feel safe to eat and drink there. The level of care and customer service is impressive. Such a lovely cafe.

Called in on the off-chance, so pleased we did. Sunday morning & it was extremely busy. Two floors, so not short of tables & comfy chairs & sofas. Quirky fun place to go, offering vast choices of coffee & hot chocolates, alongside tasty bites. I was offered, freshly baked that morning, of lemon biscuits. For anyone with dietary issues they are able to help. Looking forward to going back.

I am about to finish a 5 year long degree in Hull and I can honestly say that part of the credit goes to Planet Coffee and their amazing staff, who I feel have gone through all the stress with me. I have spent countless hours studying here day in and day out. They open early and close late, have as many plugs as you want, and serve delicious coffee and food the whole time. It is also great to spend time in a local business, where the staff know your name and your usual order when you walk in. John and Wayne and the rest of the staff are the best, thank you guys so much!

The space isn't laptop friendly, there aren't enough sockets or laptop friendly surfaces - the WiFi drops out constantly and I lost some important work - the signal for the WiFi is really poor and needs boosting.I think it is important they invest in a full KCOM fibre connection, because I suspect they have satellite wireless broadband from someone like Connexin, which is poor. Given the high profits they turnover for low rent cost area, I think a little reinvestment in WiFi is a small ask and would go a long way to improve the matter to make it business friendly.

Enjoyed a lovely cup of almond and raspberry flavoured coffee here. Coffees available in a choice of size. Liked the decor, choice of seating styles and coffees and hot chocolates. Friendly staff and one off decor.

I came with a friend who comes here regularly. I can’t complain. I had a hot chocolate, it was good. You get always a free flake or depending what what you get some sweeties. It has a nice atmosphere with seating upstairs. Staff are friendly and help you out as there are so many options. Also had a carrot cake which was nice. A good place to go if you like to chill or want some peace and seating outside so can people watch as well if that is your thing.

I've frequented this lovely coffee shop several times over the last few years, as my daughter studied at Hull University and lived near Planet Coffee. It's a lovely, warm comfortable place. Always friendly, great coffee and treats. I'd especially recommend the lemon cookies. There are lots of good coffee shops on Newland Ave, but this is my favourite.

So my girlfriend is from Hull and I encourage her to take me here as often as possible when we visit. I treated her and her sister to lunch a few weeks back and we were NOT dissapointed.My panini was amazing, fresh and full of filling! The service was great and we sat upstairs on comfy, well used sofas.I drink lots of coffee and my partner and her sister had hot drinks and then 2 amazing milkshakes.. I opted for a second coffee and a cake instead of a shake and was not dissapointed Delicious can't wait to go back

Been coming to this establishment since the day it was created. Never had a bad experience in all these days and don't think I ever will. Cakes to die for.

Lovely and relaxing place you don’t feel rushed , staff are very pleasant. They have different savoury and sweet board menus ,. Only one thing no baby changing facilities but would still recommend a visit. .

Planet coffee enjoys a large corner position and has a wrap around terrace outside that is dog friendly. We just met up for coffee and cakes- good selection of cakes which were delicious. Efficient and friendly service.

Been visiting planet coffee since I was 14/15, I am now 30. The best coffee shop! Cannot beat a chai latte with an shot of coffee and cinnamon, yum!

Not been here for years but had a business meeting so popped in for breakfast and a coffee. Very friendly staff, breakfast panini amazing and the coffee with a flake and sweets on the side, very nice touch. Will be back very soon

Planet Coffee has been on Newland Avenue for a long time and endures. Always busy, always friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Good Cappuccino and now selling tiny saucers of sweets, amongst other treats to go with your chosen beverages...

Met up with a few people to have a meeting. There was a lovely friendly buzz about the place when I arrived at 5:30 pm. The table was reserved as requested. Coffee was brought upstairs to us. We never felt rushed and there was a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely go here again.

Very cozy area that looks rather spacious, friendly staff that allow you to genuinely enjoy your drink and a delicious array of coffees to choose from. The atmosphere really draws you in, which is probably why it has become so popular already.

Good coffee, cakes, paninis etc all made fresh with great service. Gets rather busy good meeting place. Reasonable prices.

Visit to Planet Coffee for a regular Hot chocolate and cake, relax, chat and catch up. It has been a rather hectic few months, to say the least, and nice to sit down, in no rush envoiroment.

A nice atmosphere, no loud music or noisy machines. Comfy seats, plenty of tables and chairs available. Good staff with fast service. Good selection of breakfast food and all the normal coffee options.

I always make a regular pitstop for takeaway drinks and nibbles, on my way to the barbers every few weeks.

Made my first visit here today but it most certainly will not be the last. Its a lovely place. We arrived at 10am on a Tuesday morning and I was surprised how busy it was already, that's a good sign. We had a hot chocolate and a large Americano. When I ordered my 'large' Americano I didn't expect it to be so big. Was like a bucket but very, very nice coffee. Also ordered two pieces of cake to take out which the lovely lady kept in the fridge for us until we left. The cake was scrumptious, especially the gingerbread cheesecake, so Moorish. Nice place, lovely staff, great coffee, fantastic cake. What's not to like ?

We really enjoyed our lunch here. We were leaving because we couldn’t find a table but one of the managers overheard and got us one. We had a sandwich and drinks and each of them were delicious. My husband had the sausage sandwich and I had chicken and both were really good. We’ll definitely come back here

Dropped in for a coffee outside, staff pleasant and coffee ok but nothing to write home about. It was busy enough with what looked like locals but just felt it was a little past it’s best decor wise.

Friends took us here for a bolt hole coffee on a very wet day. Very good coffee indeed and a choice of gluten free cakes, v good!

Amazing range of hot chocolate and great staff! Would definitely recommend the hazelnut syrup for the chocolate and the comfy sofas!

I have been coming to planet for many years and despite staff leaving and new staff joining I have always had excellent service and am greeted like a friend rather than a customer. Relaxing place to chill read and watch the world go by .

I go regularly to Planet Coffee, grab a take out on way to the barbers or sit in on occasion and it is a real treat!

Called today on recommendation of a friend for a coffee on a miserable morning. Vast range of hot drinks available, our group's choices consisted of Bailey's blitz coffee, millionaire's hot chocolate & rocky road hot chocolate. Nice atmosphere in coffee shop and very friendly staff.

Brilliant local owned coffee shop with a selection of hot drinks, coffees and nibbles to choose from. Very friendly staff and the layout as a whole is very relaxed. It can get busy what with being so close to the university. You often see students using the wifi and having drinks.

Popped in with friends for a coffee and chat. Such a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Had the new chocolate and nut cheesecake omg it was totally amazing. Staff are really polite and friendly. Great place to meet up.

I've been a visitor to Planet Coffee for over 10 years and one thing still stands out to this day, and that's the friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It's said so often about coffee shops that it's become a cliche. But in regards to Planet Coffee it's very much applicable.

A few good visits to Planet Coffee, really nice atmosphere and it's not too overpriced by the standards of posh coffee shops.

I visited some relatives in Hedon and made the trip (9 miles) all the way to Planet Coffee because it is worth it. Nice vibe, friendly service, plenty of sofas and good coffee - what else can you ask for?

I've visited multiple times for coffee with friends over the last few years, and most recently with my baby in tow. Good choice of hot drinks, cakes and light lunches. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I was particularly impressed today with the baby friendly service when ordering some toast for my 6 month old, which came ready-spread and cut into fingers! Great customer service.

Whenever I'm shopping on the Avenue, I always have a hot drink in Planet Coffee. The mint hot choc is delicious. Can't beat a lovely cappucino from there. My favourite place.

One of the nicest independant coffee shops I've been too. Plenty of seating and hot drinks to choose from! It was a hard to descision. My friend and I eventually chose the Bailey's Blitz coffee, it was delish. It was a generous cup topped with whipped cream which was optional and a flake. The prices are reasonable too and plenty of food to choose from. My friend got a sandwich which came with a handfull of crips. They had a range of chocolate based drinks too including coconut and blueberry. Can't wait to come back and try a new drink! Great, prompt service.The staff were also nice and helpful when we needed directions.

I drink strong black coffee.. no sugar so i can be difficult to please. However.. this place was lovely.. catered to my coffee needs and i had a lovely panini! Will definitely go again

One of the oldest coffee shops on Newland and still popular. It can be a bit too busy for me but I still use it occasionally to meet friends, though waiting around for a chair doesn't appeal. They offer nice coffee and the service is friendly.

Popped in for a coffee and milk shake with my youngest, great selection of coffees and some very unusual flavors for the milk shakes, all the flavors we've tried were delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful, would highly recommend you visit x

We went to this restaurant for lunch before I had an appointment at the beauty salon opposite. I'd heard about it but never been. I'm on a mobility scooter and a member of staff showed me to a table where I could sit on my scooter and it wasn't blocking the way. While my husband was at the bar ordering our meal another member of staff asked if I wanted anything ordering. We had coffee and panini. My husband's comment was that the menu was simple, a good choice of paninis. I had a bacon and brie panini and it was full of filling and was the best one I've ever had, my husband had a cheese and onion and he felt the same. Our coffee was delicious. I shall certainly go there again, No wonder it is so popular.

Called In today with partner, baby and dog! Sat on the terrace in the sunshine. Lattes were delicious- hot and frothy and great strong coffee. Could not resist the carrot cake which was excellent. Happy friendly staff- ordered and paid for at counter Inside and delivered to us with a smile on the terrace.

this coffee house is comfortable ,cosy and their coffee is top standard ,way better than costa .They also serve great hot chocolate and tasty snacks,just wish they would open a branch in walsall.

I love this place. It is inviting and so comfortable - loads of comfortable seating downstairs and upstairs. I'm American and have learned to adjust to different customer service living here - but the staff here are very friendly and helpful. It was nice to be treated so kindly.

Great range of coffees, and lots of syrups to change up your order every time you go. The food is also really nice, but get there early as the best sandwiches go fast.

Another of my favourite haunts in hull with an array of hot drinks and cakes to choose from. As well as a few panninis I recommend the chicken and spinach pesto and spinach. 😘👌🏻

Beware even the small mug of hot chocolate is generous! I had medium with almond essence and sprinkles, very tasty, also lots of cream for the obligatory milk moustache. I let the chocolate flake melt into the bottom of the cup and it was delicious. It's order from the bar then they bring it over when it's ready.

I love this place, loads to choose from, great atmosphere, friendly staff...I've been coming here for 3 years now & cant fault the place, although at times it's so busy your waiting for a seat, you just know it's worth it in the long run...you never feel rushed...my nail salon is opposite so it gives me an excuse to pop in, even for a takeaway coffee on my way home.

Good quality coffee and cake in a very crowded market. Would be my go to coffee shop on Newland Avenue. It can get busy but staff are always cheerful and you are served swiftly.

Planet coffee is a great place to meet up with friends for a coffee and cake and a chat ! Large external terrace to front of premises which is inviting and a great place to be in good weather. Excellent range of drinks available and some wonderful (if not very calorific) cakes ! However all comes at a price and end bill is surprisingly high. Mixed experience with staff.

This is a second time i hav a bad experience with planet coffee but only with the male staff, they re very bad attitude n bad services ! We sat there just over an hour but I haven't finish my chocolate n my wife haven't finish her tea, he just took away everything n nothing left on the table ! What a shame on u by tye service like that in this day !!! My god !!! We will never never ever come back again !!

We had eaten down Newland Avenue so decided to try this cafe bar as it looked popular, was excited until we was served by a rude worker. We asked what flavours there were and he bluntly pointed out that the flavours were on a board, then started reading out the flavours quickly which came across as he was rushing us. Then he assumed we was taking away as he reminded us that they shut in 40 minutes (which is plenty of time to enjoy a refreshment) other than that, the drinks were delicious and would recommend going. I'm hoping he was just having a bad day however it did make us feel uncomfortable

Everything about Planet Coffee is amazing. Fabulous service, amazing drinks and peaceful atmosphere. I loved my minty hot chocolate. Great selection of food sweet foods as well.

I attended this bar a few days ago to have a catch up with some friends, the service was fantastic considering they looked understaffed, the upstairs is very cozy and is a great place to sit if you are studying, I will return when I am in the area!!!

I have been going to Planet Coffee since it first opened around 16 years ago and have seen the evolution of the cafe.

people bang on about this coffee shop like it's something special the only reason being is because it's open the latest out of anywhere else in Hull. If another business cottoned on to this they would totally run this place into the ground. The coffee isn't great, thank god for the complimentary flake. The place needs a serious refurb the decor is awful! as is the music! once I went in and the Moulin Rouge soundtrack was playing... totally tacky. The service differs some staff are really quite pleasant and others are just outright rude and clearly don't want to be there. For god sake get a refurb and tidy the place up it's in such a good location and it's got everything going for it it shouldn't be average coffee.

quick service very good choice comfortable seating, was not able to stay long as parking in the area very limited. Staff very friendly will visit again but probably late in the day when parking restrictions are over.
