P.J.s in Great Yarmouth

Got treated by the parents to fish and chips and we always use pjs, as friendly staff always have a laugh with them aswell, food is excellent quick service and Paige l( think that was her name lol) can wrap battered sausages beautifully!!! Andy you have such a wonderful team well done.

I ordered large cod and chips costing £11 but this was really not large at all. I feel totally ripped off with the size for price of this

I called into PJ's for the first time in about 2 years after work this evening. Greeted with a friendly SMILE by owner and serving staff. Ordered 2 Haddoc & 1 lot of Chips. What can I say... Absolutely Delicious... Freshly cooked and piping hot when I got home. If I had a vote I'd say PJ's is by far the best fish n chips in Great Yarmouth & has been for all the years I've lived here. for me this is an excellent fish and chip shop , very consistent and great staff , always a pleasure and never been disappointed in any way . you can pick your fish and pay according to weight , awesome !

Freshly cooked haddock, scampi superb and a real great price service very good and polite friendly staff a bit off the beachfront but well worth a visit

On a boating holiday moored at Great Yarmouth for one night and wandering around the town on a Sunday evening trying to find something for dinner. We came across this fabulous chippy. It was spotlessly clean, really nicely set up so you could sit and eat there if you wanted to. The staff were in smart uniforms and .... the chips were just great! We shared an extra long battered sausage and chips and they were delicious, back on the boat with a bottle of vino. Good times. We will be back.

We were on a day trip to Great Yarmouth, whilst at the seaside fish and chips are a must. Checked reviews and went out of our way to find PJs. We were greeted with a warm friendly welcome, enjoying a bit of banter with the owner. There were seats inside so we ate inside. Fantastic quality we really enjoyed it.

This place was suggested to us as most local chippies seemed to be cooking in beef fat and for dietary reasons we needed to find one cooking in vegetable oil. Having confirmed that they did we had two cod and chips and drove up the road to eat it as close to the sea as we could. It was cooked fresh and was very good. Nice batter. They also do scraps! The shop itself was clean and the woman serving was helpful and cheerful. It was about 7pm on a Thursday and it was getting quite busy but the wait wasn't too long and was worth it. The menu was extensive inclusing veggie options such as halloumi and pineapple fritters. Worth the 7 mile drive from our guest house. I didn't realise so many chippies were still cooking in beef fat or had reverted to it but I think they should state on websites/facebook and even in store what they are cooking in.

Excellent fish and chips, hot, crispy batter and lovely chips. Brilliant value too. Deducted a point because the mushy peas were watery and a bit past their sell by date. But overall well worth the extra walk from the sea front and highly recommended.

We went to this chippy from the beach (a bit of a walk, but well worth it). We found it from reviews on Google. It lived up to the good reviews and more. A very extensive menu. All the food was excellent and freshly cooked. Lots of little extras like free buns etc. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

Usually great but the queue just to order was over 30 minutes today. Perhaps telephone ordering is better? Fantastic food and service previously

Ordered large middle Cod, small chips scampi to share! Fish was perfectly cooked, beautiful large flakes of fresh succulent fish. Chips were fantastic.

Just ordered 2 cod and chips also a savaloy it was awful, fish very dry savaloy was cold and so were chips. A waste of money we normally go to Salisbury Rd a shame we didn't go there but tried Northgate St that is more local to us. Shame I'm a insulin dependent diabetic as I had done my injection and have to eat straight away I would have taken it back otherwise.

i went to his shop explained i was coeliac he told me what he did and i had to most lovely fish and chips and mushy peas plus a slice of lemon no reaction at all made my night

Usually ok however our last visit for Haddock and chips and Scampi and chips can only be described as disgusting, the Fish stank badly, and was thrown straight into the bin when opened at home, the Scampi tasted disgusting also and looked like some kind of pinky grey stuff squeezed out of a tube and was as much scampi as I am an alien!

This place is amazing. The friendliest fish and chip staff I’ve ever encountered. The price is right, the food is right and the decor is really nice. The guys who work here love their job clearly and ordering food is fun. A great place and the staff are an asset to the owner.

We always pop in here on our way home when we are in the area and have used them for years.They have revamped and modernised and it looks great it's always spotlessly clean we had the specials fish and chips for £4,90 really good value andMore than you can eat,we decided to sit in and have them for a change and he even made us a cup of tea.They have an extensive menu all at reasonable price.I would say best fish and chips locally and such nice people.

Came here after a very long working day, mid week Wednesday, at about 8.20pm. I had the large cod and chips and sat at the back in the small dining area. I have to say the the fish was cooked to perfection and the batter wasn’t to heavy, which how I like it. The chips were of equal quality and they had also included a wedge of lemon. The dish came in typical fish and chip carton, which I didn’t mind and as this was all paper products this made it feel more traditional. I was even given a cup of tea on the house. Brilliant friendly service and excellent food. I fully recommend.

Fed our family here (four adults + 2 hungry kids) for just over £32. Really tasty, good fish (rock salmon that we never see at home, yumm), fresh cooked and friendly service. Five minutes walk from the Yacht Station so ideal for boaters passing through.

Had a plaice for my tea really disappointed it was all batter no fish the batter was hard and crispy and really greasy chips were okay paid near on £8

We loved this place nice friendly staff, clean and local, we watched the man with the nice accent batter our fish fresh to order (while we perished the local leaflets and cool fish chart) and we even got to choose which bit of fish! Haha He was telling us about the model village on the front which we're gonna investigate today !The food was soo good (nice bread rolls always a winner with Mowgli) and the Mushy Peas outta this worrlld we'll definitely be going back : )

Best fish and chips in Great Yarmouth. When we are on holiday we travel from Hopton , put in a cool bag and they are still nice and hot. Staff are great and always very friendly.

We were on evening out and not having found a place to eat ,as we had our small dog with us.we found pj,s in Northgate st.we saw a seating area and asked if we could come in with the dog and they kindly said no problems.we ordered the battered sausage and chips as needed something quick as we were starving! The food was so well cooked.we chatted to the really friendly guy and young lady .they even open to midnight.

My dad loves fish and chips and (as this place is in walking distance) we go there quite a lot. I have never had more than a 5 minute wait- and that 5 minutes was because my cousin wanted a vegetarian burger. The food has always been delicious; no matter what you have and I should know as I think my dad has eaten every single thing on the menu. Quite cheap as well. I can find no fault.

De snackbar ( fish and chipsshop) heeft niet veel keuze. Maar de vis is heerlijk. De patat is echt engels, ook de uienringen zijn erg lekker

PJ's have a really good selection of fish, chicken, pies & sausages. All staff are very friendly. Food can be eaten inside or take away, Premises are clean & tidy

Weekend at Haven and Googled best Fish and Chips, PJs there but not as many reviews as Crystal, so really PJs was second choice. Went to Crystal walked into a full room of miserable looking people obviously waiting for a long time, two staff arguing, completely ignored me! Walked out and drove straight to PJs, Fish and Chips straight out of the fryer, absolutely Perfect, nothing left on the plate, would highly recommend.

It's the best chippy in Yarmouth, we always get food from here and we always enjoy it it's really cheap for the quality of the food

Siete de nosotros fuimos a conseguir pescado y patatas fritas. El propietario nos las arreglamos para entretenimiento mientras nos liaron alrededor de ordenar. La mayoría fuimos para el bacalao mientras yo tenía un gran eglefino. La comida llegó rápidamente y estaba caliente; casi demasiado caliente. Restos disponibles y varios de los partidos han hecho uso.

As with any tourist town you need to hit the backstreets to get the best food. Great Yarmouth is no exception. Having sized up the rather mediocre options as we explored the town we were directed to PJ's by the guys at the Yacht Station. It was only 5 minutes walk and open on a Sunday evening, so after Evensong at the Minster we took our buys back to our boat and enjoyed them there. Good helpings, hot and crispy batter, good chips despite it being new potato time; and some really good mushy peas. Far better value than on the sea front.Recommended.

this is the good chip shop as they cook in vegetable oil not beef dripping which is great keep cooking veg oil so much better

I have not used this fish and chip shop in many years but decided to give it a try on the way home from work. When I got inside there was quite a few people waiting to be served but the counter assistant dealt with everyone quickly and in a friendly manner. I had chips and spam fritter ( a blast from my childhood days) and they were so delicious and cheap. The food was hot, not greasy and so tasty, I went back the next night

Excellent fish & chips, best in town probably. Do other things too like chicken, sausages etc....but I only ever want the fish & chips.

Nice chips but a large cod was tiny compared with how it was a few months ago.Rubbish pasty with no meat in it and brown/ grey dirty water with pea skins in sold to me as mushy peas! Not happy this time I dont know what has changed here as it used to be an excellent fish and chip shop.Going to try elsewhere in future .

This 'chippy' is really good value and quality, and we always visit when we're in Great Yarmouth.Nice cheerful customer service, too. Closed on Mondays and I think they have a sister shop on Northgate St - handy after a few beers!

I find PJs' on Northgate Street totally over-rated by people, the last few times I have been there the chips have been awful, cheap powdery tasting rubbish, I do like the Fish Bites they fry have no complaints about them, the Cod is OK but when it's been standing for a length of time in the overhead heaters it tends to get dried out.

PJ's on Salisbury Road is the local and you are always welcomed by the friendly staff. There is an inside bar seating area for those wishing to eat in. The cost is more then fair. Salisbury Road branch is closed on Monday's but there is another branch nearby on Northgate Street, also up the far end of the seafront opposite the pleasure beach.

Visit the Salisbury Road branch for a great local fish and chip shop. Closed on Mondays go where the locals go.
