What a fantastic Pizza place! Hiding just off Leith Walk but well worth seeking out. Pizzas were really tasty, very Italian style, loads of topping, and that perfect delicious slightly burnt base that makes the flavour pop. Love it! Really lovely service too from the Italian owner who could not have been friendlier. Real Italian music in the background, perfect volume. Could it get better? Perhaps lower the lighting a touch? Candles on the tables? Two degrees warmer? But don’t change the Pizza or the service or music, all the best!!

I was surprised, given the generally very good reviews, at how poor this place was. Service was pretty chaotic, and we had the strange combination of experiencing both very slow service (we waited ages for both service and food, despite the place being very quiet) and being repeatedly hustled about not being quick enough because they had another booking later.One of the reasons given for slow service was that they also have to deal with Deliveroo orders, which I think just highlights the wrong focus here. Lots of other little things that added up to a poor experience beyond this - missing most of the wines on the (limited) list, not a lot of knowledge about the menu etc. The pizza was pretty good - not incredible, but definitely decent. It's about fairly priced too I'd say. The main reason for scoring it down was that all the food arrived warm, none of it near hot. Atmosphere is driven by the physical venue. There aren't many tables in a small room, and it swung from overly loud neighbouring tables to suddenly deadly quiet, and neither were great. The place feels cheaply done up without a lot of love, and I think this has some impact on the atmosphere too.

Ordered and collected pizzas from them quite a few times since they opened in the summer. The pizzas just get better and better. Friendly, chatty staff when you are waiting for your order too! A wee gem at the top of the walk! No photos - devoured within minutes.

Perhaps they were just having a bad day? We ordered two pizzas in person and received this poor excuse for what could be passed off as a child’s size pizza for adult prices. When questioned about the size and lack of toppings, the lady running the show claimed that they were the 25g of dough just “not circular”. What? When my husband brought the pizzas home and showed me the 5 leaves of a single artichoke that we were charged £2 extra for - I called them and was told that’s how they serve artichokes - only using the leaves. Excuse me? Just from other pictures in the reviews alone, I’m calling bs. The woman offered to remake the pizzas if we brought them back within the next 10 minutes before they closed, but could not promise the new ones would be any better. At no point did she offer a discount or any incentive to return. Plus, it was cash only. Hard pass.

The food was excellent and extremely fresh. Everything was going well until we tried to pay, where we were told that it was cash only. There is an ATM around the corner but this should’ve been said to us beforehand.

Really enjoyed my pizza margherita and arancini here. The base and tomato sauce were great. Had a few bottles of beers and all at a very reasonable price. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. I will be back again for sure, grazie.

The pictures looked super promising but once there, the choice was really little and even a basic pizza like margherita was below average. Good sourdough but the taste of the tomato sauce and the mozzarella were really cheap.

I recently tried Pizzologist, and it’s now my go-to for pizza! The style is North Italian, and you can really tell they’ve nailed the dough—it’s light, airy, and so flavorful. Honestly, one of the best I’ve had in a while! What really stood out to me was how affordable it is compared to other places. It feels like such a treat without hurting your wallet. Plus, they deliver super late, which is amazing for those weekend nights when you’re struggling to find anything open. If you’re after great pizza, reasonable prices, and late-night delivery, I’d definitely recommend giving them a try!

Fantastic pizzas at this little restaurant. Arancini to start and then a Maialina & a Mortazza. They were delicious. Will return next time we visit Edinburgh.

Very unusual experience. Decent food, abysmal service- Avoid. Please note - this restaurant appears tobe buying positive/fake reviews on Google. About as italian as beans on toast. Price was okay. Service incredibly slow, waiter didn't know what was on the menu, told us "I don't work here, I'm just on a visit" Pizza wasn't sliced and no cutlery on the table. Brought us one glass of wine to share between two adults?!? No other tables set. No Arancini at start of service, so clearly they're buying them in frozen.

Service completely nonexistent as staff were clearly too preoccupied with takeaway orders and music , pizzas took over 40 minutes to get to the table when there was only one other table in the restaurant, most of the menu items were unavailable, no apology or explanation for the delay in meal as the staff didn’t want to communicate, such a shame as previous at Haymarket the service and quality food made it a enjoyable experience PS after 40 minutes the pizzas were slightly cold

There is no better review of a pizzeria than one written by an Italian abroad. Excellent pizza, exceptional and very fresh products. Cozy place and friendly but above all super friendly staff. In this pizzeria you feel like you are in Italy, but with the wonderful atmosphere of Edinburgh looking from the window. Excellent location, super central.

Unbelievably slow service - 15 minutes to take a drink order and took more than an hour for pizzas to arrive after ordered. Don’t go if you have other plans that evening.

An outstanding Italian pizza! Pizzologist is a small, family restaurant that impresses with its ambience and the quality of the pizzas. The owners are very loving and incredibly hard working. You probably won't find a better pizzeria in Edinburgh :)

I come across this pizza shop when I visit Edinburgh for holiday.. I have to say I never eat such a good pizza even in Italy! The quality of the ingredients are really high and the girls that owns the pizza restaurant was super nice!

Very familiar service, we ordered pizza and it was spectacular!! And several typical dishes and I don't have enough stars to give you how good everything was, the owners were very friendly, I needed pounds in bills and I only had a card and they did their best to give us cash., very very happy.

Ooft. What a terrible fall from grace. This was a great local restaurant and we’ve been there for private hire, family occasions, impromptu night outs and loved it every time. But now…..well, it’s a bit of a nightmare. Customer service has fallen off a cliff, dine in isn’t really an option and they won’t take bookings or offer any kind of service at all. To top it all they were closed in the evening last week with no explanation. Have they closed down? What a shame to see a business collapse so rapidly.

The pizza was good and all but they could of added a little more toppings to my pizza. When I came in to place my order in the evening, some of the items on their menu weren't available. Probably better to get at lunch for the full selection.

As an Italian tourist, I was amazed by the quality of the raw materials, fresh products, very light pizza. Really good tiramisu and espresso. Excellent prices, to be the envy of many pizzerias in Italy.

Not what it was since they evidently changed management recently. We made a reservation 6 weeks ago for a special occasion and we arrived to be told by an exasperated manager that they no longer do reservations no matter what their own restaurant website says. (???) It would have been great to know that so we could have changed plans (especially since their automated system - through THEIR own website not Google - sent us a reminder email 2 days before) but apparently changing their own website or sending an email to everyone who had made reservations was too stressful and difficult as we were told repeatedly by the very defensive manager. The lady doth protest too much? They didn't even try to accommodate us despite more than one table being free (we were 4 so they could have seated us separately at 2-person tables) and were generally just really unpleasant about the whole thing. Honestly the new manager didn't seem to have any idea what he was doing and kept complaining about how hard it's been to change Google's reservation system (despite us booking it through his own website, not Google) and the impact it's had on his mental health. Has this person ever run any restaurant or been in the service industry at all? It was a Friday night at dinnertime so we weren't confident we could sit down anywhere else with no reservation so we ordered takeout and were quite disappointed. The menu had recently changed (not a big issue by itself) but the pizzas we ordered weren't even quite right: they first didn't even give us all the pizzas we ordered and had to press to even get what we ordered and paid for; one pizza that explicitly had tomato sauce didn't have any sauce and the pizzas that came with various toppings had scant coverage at best (2 sundried tomatoes on a pizza does not really suffice to be honest). I could be more forgiving despite all this if perhaps all the trouble was due to being extremely busy at that moment, but the restaurant only had a few other patrons at the time (who were all finishing their food - ours were the only pizzas they had to prepare) despite being "completely booked up" which was very weird terminology to use when they had just told us they didn't do reservations anymore. Thankfully there are other places in Edinburgh with similar style pizzas because we will never be back. Save your money and your time and go literally anywhere else!

Good pizzas, very decent size, little room to eat on site (there were 4 of us and we had to squeeze into a table for 2). We were served quickly. Recommended, especially to take away.

The pizza was delicious with quality ingredients. It is served on a cardboard pizza box base/lid with a knife and fork. Service was quick and you help yourself to free tap water. They sell some non-alcoholic drinks. We are small eaters so 1 x Capricciosa pizza at $12.50 was sufficient for the two of us.

Got a pepperoni and marghertia pizza and totally delighted with the base, sauce and ingredients for the topping. Two wonderful pizzas which my kids and wife enjoyed. Will be using them again for sure

I really wouldn’t go here if you’re hungry, my size challenged ‘Prosciutto e funghi’ pizza contained precisely one sliced mushroom and no prosciutto but some ham that looked it had just escaped from a supermarket packet. It was a disappointing waste of £12.00. I’m regretting not getting a Domino’s and that’s saying something.

Casual pizza place. It was BYOB when I went. Pizza was good but not exceptional. Had some olives too. Staff were helpful and seating was all fine.

I bought a couple of white wines from TESCO next door and brought them with me. It's called BYOB (bring your own bottle), and it costs £1 for each alcoholic item you bring in. Most pizzas are tomato-based. Crispy and light texture. It was salty and went well with wine. The staff was very kind and I was more satisfied than I expected when I was looking for a quick dinner near the hotel. It's a store you'll want to visit again and again.

i came here with with my family ordered some pizzas which came super quickly maybe 15 min max, the service is speedy and the staff is lovely. it’s dog friendly and has options for children. Absolutely recommend for edinburgh first timers.
