Great food, if a little pricey. Our visit was enjoyable thanks to waitress Ellie, who was informative, attentive and very pleasant. A star.

Situated on the corner of a delightful new area of the city, the restaurant is quite new and therefore well appointed. We ate at 3pm and were virtually the only people eating, so service was good and quick as you would expect. The new "sharing" dougballs are a nice touch, coming with three dips rather than just the usual garlic butter. The pasta and pizza dishes are made the same throughout the chain so you always know what to expect. However, the pizza toppings are quite different to your ordinary Italian restaurant, and my Romana with goats cheese and spinach was really tasty, though being thin it went cold very quickly. The food is not cheap for this type of cuisine, and for shared doughballs, main course and two drinks the bill was £40, reduced to £30 with a 2for1 voucher. It is not surprising therefore that the huge student population of Sheffield find it more of a treat than a regular haunt.

I love the pizzas in PizzaExpress - particularly their Romano (very thin but large) American Hot - if you like chili - this is the best. This is not a posh restaurant but is a family friendly, fast service place with cheap plonk if you want it. I prefer to visit on a Sunday, or early on a Saturday as the place can get a bit noisy when full.

The guy who initially seated us was extremely rude, he asked how many of us, grabbed menus and flounced down the restaurant leaving us standing in the entrance. He never once said this way please. Having been seated we had to ask the waiter for details of the special offer, which was on a separate menu that we werent provided with by greeter. All three of us took advantage of the starter and main for £9.99. Pizzas were a little cool but all in all it was ok. Bill arrived without the discount of the offer which we had to point out to waiter. A little too much drama for a quick bite to eat whilst shopping!

We went in on a Monday at 12.15 for a quick meal, a thing we had done a few times at this particular restaurant. The initial acknowledgement and table placement was a bit slow despite a multitude of staff milling around but as we were in no hurry we persevered and eventually we were seated, then came the drinks ordering and finally the food order, then we waited and waited and waited, finally after nearly 30 minutes our food arrived and lo and behold it was cold, well I should say the plate was hot but the food itself was cold. After trying to eat a bit so as not to make a fuss I decided that since I was paying over £12 for a pizza it should at least be edible so I did a thing I rarely do, I complained and refused to pay for the said pizza. I was then offered the option of having it warmed up or a new one but by then I was in no mood to waste any more of my day at this establishment. We have eaten many times at Pizza Express but this particular branch has always been a disappointment and now it has excelled itself in its ability to do the basics, serve hot food.

The food is nice as Pizza Express food always is and the prices are to be expected. The service has been slow the times I've visited, due to there only being 2 members of staff serving. Would go again though.
