Pizza Express York Designer Outlet in York

First of all I want to thank the great visit we made to pizza Express in York. They were short staffed that day but the male waiter was brilliant and skilled and our visit was relaxing and fulfilled and the Fiorentina pizza I ordered was so tasty. All the food was beautiful infact. There was 4 of us eating in total.

Just stood for 25 mins to be told sorry can’t cater for 5, put some timings up do those stood waiting are not mushrooms

We were served by a waiter on Thursday evening and he said it was his first day at Pizza Express. He may have been marginally slow at putting the orders into his electric order book but in fairness he got everything spot on. The food was good and the service first class. It was later on, and quiet, so I don’t know what service would be like if it’s busy but we had no complaints. Would revisit next time.

Este restaurante está en el Food Plaza en McArthur Glen y hemos comido en muchos de los restaurantes, pero no en Pizza Express antes.Nos sentamos rápidamente y recibimos una jarra de agua según lo solicitamos, pero luego esperamos al menos 20 minutos antes de que se tomara nuestro pedido. Lo visitamos ayer, ya que cada vez que vamos a la tienda solemos comer allí, pero no volveremos. Fuimos a tratar de reservar y el personal se paró hablando y nos ignoró. Los esperamos un momento y mi hija fue a preguntar. Cuando fuimos a cenar, la camarera fue grosera. Pedimos bebidas y preguntamos si también podíamos tomar una jarra de agua. Las bebidas que pagamos llegaron pero no había agua y tuvimos que preguntar dos veces si podíamos tomar una. Un entrante llegó un poco antes que el resto de nosotros. Pero en cuanto a los platos principales, fueron los peores que he comido en un Pizza Express. Mi nieto generalmente ama su comida allí, pero él y yo tuvimos lo mismo y fue horrible, los platos estaban fríos y la pasta tibia. Ninguno de los cuatro comimos nuestro plato principal. We had a family meal last night, lovely atmosphere, staff really pleasant and helpful and great food. Will definitely be back.

Called today for family lunch, not even busy was 2pmStaff majority all young males, very disinterested! No customer archive skills, rude, just doing the basics of their job. Food plonked down on table no offer for condiments and starter plates not cleared when main meal served we had to move stater plates to make room ourselves to another table! Waited 20 minutes for table to beCleared after finished main course despite our table being passed on numerous occasions by one member of staff who was laying napkins! Only one older guy seemed to be working hard throughout our visit and we were un lucky not to have him serving.Hoping this is just holiday staff asNormally never had a problem at this restaurant but would unlikely return after our visit today

Really slow service, could see our food sat on the counter under a hot lamp but waited a full 9 minutes for it to be passed to us! Staff were pleasant but too few of them to cope with the demand.

Not only was the pizza and doughballs tastelss but the staf also didn't have a clue what they were doing and were rather unpleasant.

Having visited several Pizza Express recently as they cater for my dietary needs, I think this is one of my favourite in the area.The staff go above n beyond to help and assist you. I have visited a couple of times using a walking frame and more recently under my own steam but when I needed extra space to accommodate my mobility issues, they just cleared the way! Nothing and I repeat NOTHING was too much trouble. Every time we have been we have had different waiting staff and every time they have been as helpful, SO, that tells me it is in the training and MUST be due to the manager there. Talking of which, he gets mucked in, rolling up his sleeves when they are busy so as no-one is stood waiting any longer than can be helped. There place is clean , always busy and welcoming. Came here for lunch yesterday and had pasta with my mum which was average. The woman that served us who I believe was a manager was rude and uninterested. She put the food on the table and did not ask if we needed anything else, not a smile not even eye contact. When called over and asked if we could have some black pepper she walked off and came back with the pepper and cracked it over my plate twice then walked off. She has no manners and for a manager to behave in this way is totally unacceptable and a plague to the other staff.

I have eaten at Pizza Express a few times, but this trip was not up to its usual standard. we went mid week and it was really quiet. We got a table straight away. I had a pizza and hubby had a chicken breast with pesto i think it was To be honest, the food was tasteless for both of us. I rarely write poor reviews as i just don't go back to try again. However i have usually had good food at Pizza Express so i'm really quite sad it was not as nice as usual.

Called last week with our son who has autism. He was very nervous with lots of people around and was wary about going into the restaurant. André offered to open up the back room for us which was perfect. We ordered our food and our son also wanted chips which weren't on the menu. We ordered an alternative to see if he'd eat them. Our food arrived in good time and André appeared with a bag of McDonald's chips in case he didn't like the ones on the menu. I couldn't believe it. How thoughtful and kind.

Second time visiting this place. It always has plenty of sitting places and the service is really quick. We ordered the Barbacoa and the Diavolo, both £14.75 each. Going out to eat with a 2 week old baby and a toddler is daunting enough however I have never felt more unwelcome at a restaurant. It all started with the greeting by the girl who was showing us to a table: no smile; lack of eye contact; lack of interest and a sneer at the double buggy. After assuring her that it wouldn’t be a problem to collapse it, she agreed to show us to a table. We went ahead and sat down putting it down to her having a bad day and pleased that we had a different waitress at the table. Food was nice enough and the waitress at the table was pleasant although not into small talk. As we were leaving and I was carrying my small baby to the entrance, another server rushed past us carrying a tray of drinks and clearly her rush was more important than saying “excuse me” or allowing me to safely pass first. I had to physically pull my baby’s carrycot to the side and let her pass. I spoke to the manager on duty about my experience, he apologised and said the right things but I am not convinced there will be any lessons learned. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend. Manners and pleasantries go a long way.

Quick service, pleasant waitress and good food. Can’t get to excited about a pizza but you know what to expect, the place was clean, ordering was easy and payment taken swiftly on mobile card readers. The place gets a thumbs up 👍.

We dined here on the three course special. The choice wasn’t enormous but that’s to be expected. The pizza was tasty, service pleasant and prompt.

I don’t normally bother to review Pizza Express as you know exactly what you are going to get but this one deserves special mention for some quite odd service. Now this is a very busy outlet village, and it was Sunday, but the woman who was seating just couldn’t crack a smile for love nor money as she took us to our table. Worse still as we were leaving she gave us such a stink eye we started laughing as it was so bizarre. We are pretty relaxed about service as long as it efficient, and in fairness our table server was great, and her friendless and efficiency earned her a decent tip. Sure, the seater might have been having a bad day, but if you are like that every day I’d suggest a change of career as it is clearly making you miserable /resentful. Other than that bog standard Pizza Express.

Shopped here several times and bought some deigner clothes and we usually have a bite to eat so this time we went to Thorntons and was dissappointed that the prices do not reflect the hygene standards, its about time these food places had random visits as we never saw a table being cleaned after it was cleared.

Very disappointed on this visit, two pizza ordered, one Gluten Free - when waitress delivered meals my Gluten Free was an ordinary pizza, luckily I’m aware that it should be on a slate board, if it had been someone who didn’t know they could have been very ill eating non-Gluten Free pizza.

Recently on our visit to York we called in here. This place is a lot bigger than I imagined, really clean inside and loads of parking availability. We even still managed to catch the January sales and get a few bargains. Really surprised and will definitely be going back down here at some point.

Very busy at lunch time,but staff made the wait bearable.Reasonable prices & good service.For a small branch the selection is good & you can see pizzas being made. No problem using voucher(unlike town centre branches).Not made to rush after we finished meal.

I never thought that I would ever write a bad review about a Pizza Express but after 3 weeks since visiting this restaurant, I still feel very annoyed that we had such a shocking and unpleasant experience.

Plenty of parking - and all of it close to the entrances to the outlet. There are a good selection of shops including some nice ones such as the Cadbury's Outlet shop!! The prices available make it worthwhile travelling to the outlet and the fact that it has an extended range of eating places means that you can plan a whole day there - if you want to!! It is warm and spacious inside and well laid out so you never feel as if it is overcrowded.

Good selection of top end retail brands and great atmosphere, but the deals (post Christmas) were sadly not that attractive when compared to other suppliers.

An affordable shopping outlet, really good for buying menswear. It’s an indoor outlet so you can be nice and warm indoors.

Took a day trip to spend and save but unfortunately didn’t find anything cheaper or different from the shops or the other outlets - only benefit that it was indoors - good parking for disabled

The food was good but the customer service was rubbish! We had to attract the attention of a member of staff to order, order my son's dessert and then we had to go to the till to get the bill as all the staff seemed to be ignoring us. Will not be going back.

Nothing striking about the place - just another retail venue - but the staff was friendly and avoided pressuring clients into buying things they didn't want.

The waitress was rude, particularly because we wanted a table that was not made up and meant she would need to clean it. We were treated like we were an inconvenience to her. Got the food order wrong. Did not smile and generally made us feel very unwelcome. The worst experience, I would definitely not go there again.

We usually prefer smaller independent restaurants but they are not always available. We enjoyed our food here and although it was busy we had a smile from our waitress and she was very present and the service and food was very quick

On arrival we visited the food Mal and had fish and chips they were great and good value on going onto the Mal we were disappointed all the shops were designer not what we expected apart from book world having traveled 100miles we were disappointed

Visited here after an afternoon of shopping and was disappointed from before we even stepped foot in the restaurant as we were ignored for nearly 5 minutes by passing waiting staff while waiting for someone to show us to a table.

unlike other Mcarthur Glen outlets, this one is completely under cover so not dog friendly at all. A big disappointment that this is not mentioned on their website which would have saved us a long trip.

This is the second time I have visited this Pizza Express and each time food and service were excellent. Had to wait about three minutes to be seated but once seated our order was taken within five minutes and food on table less than ten minutes after that.

Went today with my family for an early Christmas shopping. Place is clean and open until 8PM which is a bonus as I work till 6PM. I love the shops and cafes too, never come out with empty hands!

Not been to this branch for some time, or to PE to be honest. Clean place, recently done up. Staff pleasant. Menu changed! Years now since four cheeses pizza, now the buffalo mozzarella pizza has gone! Despite this romanas fine. Good thin base, tasty tomato sauce, good toppings. Good visit.

To be honest I have had some dreadful meals at Pizza Express in the distant past and went with trepidation as my parents suggested we go. To my total surprise the Legera Hot and Spicey was really rather good, thin crust, just the right size and with a salad that had a reasonable dressing. The Calamari starters too were rather good and very fresh, the only imperfect dish was the spicey prawn starter which had rather too much tinned tomato for my liking.

I take a trip to the designer outlet every 6 months and if you catch it right you can get some really good bargains. Food hall can be hectic during lunch time however if you go for late lunch it is fine. Some great shops, Bose, Ralph Lauren, Boss, Paul Smith.

This has to be one of the best outlets it’s always clean and tidy. Plenty of seating if your all shopped out. A lot of toilets which are well maintained. Very large free car park with no time restrictions.

I'd recommend getting there early on a weekend if you want to find a parking space. lots of cars going round and round trying to find a spot. Go round the back of the building as less busy at the front.

So quick to take order, serve very mediocre food, collect payment and dispatch, giving the experience that we were just another item on a factory production line, and not the occasion the prices would have suggested we may have expected.

Don’t expect to see Poundland and home bargains here - quality shopping and designer shops at reduced prices. Nice wide aisles, lovely and clean plenty of parking. Discrete but obvious security. Nice selection of eateries upstairs. Recommend

Went on a Saturday at 9am so wasn’t too busy, good choice of shops and all the staff really friendly! Got some really good deals and would definitely go back

All indoor nice and warm lovely shops great parking , up stairs full of dining establishments all in all a good experience

I normally steer away from chain restaurants but stuck for choice we came here. Made welcome and sat down, including our nearly two year old. He was looked after straightaway with colouring pencils and paper to distract him. Shared doughball starter were ok. We all had pizza and were able to tweak them to our own tastes. Service good and friendly. No toilets though except for shared ones in food court. Would definitely come again

Designer Centre has coffee bars and upstairs there is a wide range of restaurants and quick food places. For a special occasion there is a Wagamama and Pizza Express. There are also cafes like Prett, Pizza Hut and MacDonalds plus quit e a few other quick meal options. Something to suit everyone.

Untidy, too busy and really untidy. If you want a relaxing coffee to elsewhere. After few minutes queued to get your coffee you can choose a dirty table to drink at. Staff too busy and no cleanliness. Tables eventually had mugs and rubbish removed but not actually cleaned. All sorts of cake debris left on tables . Avoid Starbucks here

It's clean, there's a food mall and there are plenty of shops covering a broad range of customers. We spent a large portion of our day here and went away a few hundred quid lighter!

I am a regular at pizza express. The place is one of the worst I have ever been. Pizza was not tasteful at all. It was like they forgotten to put cheese. Even the dough balls and the sauce was horrible. Not sure if they had a bad day but for sure I was so disappointed. The waitress though she was friendly.

It's a pizza express so the food is lovely, but god it was like getting blood out of a stone to get the special offer set price menu out of the waitress and then she mucks up the pizza order sending out a margeherita instead of an Americano. Don't get me wrong the waiter who brought the pizza out was apologetic when he realised that the waitresses had got our order wrong as was the shift/restaurant manager but it somehow summed up the whole dining experience. They weren't really interested in serving you, your dining experience and ultimately wanted you out as quickly as possible.

We love it here. The service is always good and food is always hot, tasty and well presented. The dough balls come with the best garlic butter ever - so strong and perfect temperature so it melts easily. The Vegan Giardiniera is wonderful. Lots of toppings and the vegan cheese is tasty. Thanks for a fab meal. Special mention to our waitress Suzie, who is so lovely, chatty and quick! We will be back soon!

We called in late afternoon so it was fairly quiet. You need to be aware that some shops close before the advertised closing time. In spite of this we loved the shops. My granddaughters were in heaven! We left with several full shopping bags.

Brands paradise for the shopaholics. One might get a great deal on a given day. All top brands available at one stop.

Easy to find, straight off the motorway. Lots of great shops and a lot of bargains to be had. Our favourite shops there are Superdry and Nike. Also a good selection in the food court for a spot of lunch

Arrive early especially if visiting on the weekend or on a wet day. Free parking gets crazy. Great shopping bargains to be had whatever your taste. Plenty of eateries on the upper floor to suit all tastes/budgets. Very clean and tidy, bright and airy. Better than the Swindon branch.

Large(ish) outlet on the south side of York which is heavy on top end clothes compared to some outlets which offer a wider range of shops.

Whenever I am at York, I always make sure that I visit the outlet. My favourites to visit are Patisserie Valerie, Clarks, French Connection, Fossil and Bench; but Bench has now closed. Superdry is definitely a nice change; although I feel you get better deals in the Superdry store within York itself. It's nice to have a stroll around the shops in the outlet and pick up loads of bargains. Especially when there is a sale on the outlet price too! Will happily return.

First-time users of Pizza Express.

Whether it be before during or after your shopping spree this place has something to please the whole family's palette. All the eateries less the coffee chain shops are located on the top floor. There is loads of choice and plenty of room. If you want a good breakfast or brunch then Eds Diner is highly recommended! Starbucks and Neros are both on the ground floor.

Plenty of parking, plenty of shops. Nice as it is all indoors. Places to eat if you go up the escalators. Would go again, more often if I lived closer.

Due to change in weather we decided to spend our time inside at York Outlet instead of getting the park and ride into York.

my husband and I went to visit my sister jenny cowell for eleven days she brought to pizza express in the evening had a beautiful meal with wine and irish coffee,s when my sister went to pay the staff would not take money for is as my sister jenny lost her lovely husband john in October we could not believe how kind they were to us as they knew my sister and late husband we left them a good tip but when we are over again from Ireland we will make sure and go back for the lovely food thank you so much

I was served quickly with the food that I ordered. Very hot and up to the usual standard. Great value.

Many shops closed with signs showing “refurbishment under way”. Overhead skylights not a good idea in the current hot, sunny weather. There really needs some shading. This time round we found the background music way too loud and intrusive and inappropriate - I’m going shopping, not disco dancing. Parking is also a trying experience at peak times.

spent a week working in the outlet. all the staff were friendly and helpful. do I d time to get some retail therapy. lovely outlet v clean and air conditioned. I done f4om the South coast and the prices seemed to me to be more reasonable than outlets my way particularly the Timberlake outlet!! thoroughly recommend the outlet along with the eateries which I have reviewed separately

Been going here for years. Not anymore. It should be renamed Men’s Designer Outlet. There isn’t any shops now for older ladies. Next outlet gone,Roman gone and Klass gone. M&S; is now rubbish. Rows of old fashion stuff . It’s a mans paradise. Apart from the eating places which are quite good, there is no reason why I would ever shop here again.

We go here quite often for shopping. It a nice shopping mall, plenty of shops, different brands. In general you can find good deals on clothes, shoes or bags.

Been visiting the centre for 8 years and a privilege club member however our last visit means we will probs go elsewhere in future Fred Perry staff rude and obnoxious and centre guest services all mouth no trousers they took my details then did nothing so don't expect any level of care if you visit.

Food was ok but service really slow ! I dread to think how long you would have to wait if it was busy !!! Asked for water but never came but was good value with the £12.95 three course meal deal !!

This was my first visit to this particular designer outlet (I've been to the much smaller East Midlands outlet many times), and I was suitably impressed with many things about this shopping complex. Here's a few things I hope will help you make the most of your visit.

We enjoyed our meal on Weds afternoon so much, we returned Fri afternoon and ordered the same.

Hadn’t been here for years so wasn’t sure what would greet us. Was pleasantly surprised. Lots of free parking, good range of shops for all the family (Vans, Adidas, Nike, Paul Smith, Phase Eight, Gap etc etc), lots of food options (Patisserie Valerie was good). We stayed for a good few hours.

Decided to stop off at the Outlet on route home from Manchester, as never been. Chose to have late lunch at Pizza Express. The service was spot on from the moment we got there to the end. I opted for 1 of the Leggera pizza's and I wasn't disappointed, so much so I was all prepared to have it again once I got home at my local Pizza Express!!!

We were able to book a table here at the last minute and it was a great experience!

Located just south of York by A64 / A19. All the usual retail outlets. Superior to Swindon, free car parking too (Swindon charge unless you spend £100).

Great range of shops and easy parking and one of the best outlet places around. We travel 4 hours just to get here and it is worth it. Best to arrive early - we tend to arrive by 10am and parking is easy and it's not got busy (until after lunch). Good places to eat and have a drink.

Went here with my wife and two young children. I have to say that this mccarther Glenn outlet is one of the nicest I’ve been to. It’s not the biggest but is host to some really good designer shops that I haven’t seen in any other outlet place. There is also an excellent outdoor play area for kids that keeps them entertained while mum does the shopping! There is a good range of food outlets upstairs which was extremely busy when we visited in the Easter holidays so be prepared. There was ample parking though. Overall a good shopping experience for men and women.

Great shopping centre, which a large variety of designer outlet shops. However only a hand full of places to eat. For a Saturday it was quiet but possible due to the weather being snowy. The outlet is really easy to find and a nice drive we travelled from Newcastle. Picked up a number of bargains and well worth the visit, centre is kept clean and plenty places to sit. We will be returning in the summer.

We ate here while shopping at the designer outlet. The food was very nice and the customer service was fantastic the cost is a little high but we had a 2 for 1 offer so this made it worth it. we would come here again.

I was a bit unsure about going here as I thought it would be like the one in Ashford Kent. But, it was far better. I loved the good selection of shops and the way they were all positioned. There is plenty of eating places to make your shopping experience a good one. I will definitely come again.

Lots of free parking but it's busy. All level access and wheelchair friendly. Plenty of toilets.

Had a really nice meal here today while shopping with my daughter and grandson. We was served by a lovely waitress and had great service. My daughter and grandson had pizza one vegan and one vegitarian. I ordered the broad bean rigatoni which was gorgeous . Would recommend for everyone wether you are a meat eater. Vegan or vegetarian you will find something tasty to eat.

Visited this week for take away food - busy when I arrived but looked after promptly and told 10 minutes for my food. 10 minutes later my takeaway cannelloni was ready - V. Tasty! Fast and friendly service. Would recommend.

I visited pizza express with my husband during a shopping trip. I have to follow a gluten free diet. We tried to order the sharing starter of meats/olives etc with half normal and half gluten free bread (not fair to make hubby suffer too.....!)

We have eaten here on a couple of Wednesdays and it’s been very good but tonight the food as very good but the service seemed to have stopped mid serving? We had to wait to get the table cleaned and get our bill which seemed to take 20 minutes

Been to many pizza express and this was good as always, service was fine but the pizzas wasn't the same as we were used to have. But good time and good experience.

After shopping we decided to call in here for some lunch. However, after seeing the quality of the dishes that were coming out, we decided to just have drinks. Drinks menus took an eternity to arrive, table was filthy and chairs were sticky. The table next to us left over half their meals which told us all we needed to know. Drinks were warm and expensive. Service poor and very slow. Wouldn't return.
