Great meal, one of the better locations, consistently decent food and on time. Staff were really attentive and made it a great experience for our kids

Me and my grandparents went into this place knowing how normally good it is but it was the complete opposite. We have recently experienced problems with the app it will appear that the manager doesn’t get it either. We are very regular costumers and found this visit extremely disappointing. We began not being able to take all of our rewards off (we fully understand the terms and conditions involved.) After half an hour of going round in circles and being made to feel very uncomfortable we eventually got down near to the price that we were supposed to and expected to pay. But the manager was very disrespectful to us and unprofessional. We left the restaurant paid the bill and left with a very bad taste in our mouths. Not happy somebody needs to look at staff training when the app goes down.

Service ok. We ordered 2 x dough balls plus 3 pizza and 1 melanzane . Pizzas appeared small and melanzane for £15.45 was a tiny portion. Too small for even a starter. Total rip off and definitely won’t be going again which is a shame as it used to be good value.

Went for lunch on Monday, the staff were very friendly and accommodating- we ordered an array of starters and sharers which were all great! The food came quickly and yeah it was just a really nice atmosphere- the waitress who served us had a bubbly personality which really kept the atmosphere nice

6 of us came here this evening, we didn't book as we were booked to be elsewhere but they lost the booking. When we arrived we were acknowledged with a smile before we had even walked in. It seemed no trouble at all to be fitted in without a booking. The food was great and the service was above and beyond throughout. Thank you! It was a lovely end to a super day on the Watercress Line.

Had a lovely evening here catching up with a friend. The staff were very friendly and understanding given that we were too busy chatting to look at the menu for a little while. We didn't feel rushed at any point. The food was very tasty. I would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I was shocked at the prices £3:45 for a small bottle of coke, this price cannot be justified. Although the pizza was ok, the coleslaw was not tasty at all. No flavour, rather watery and if it had been any smaller, well. the cost was also excessive for what it was. I personally will not use this business again.

Party had lunch here on a Sunday and the experience was mixed. Negronis were devoid of orange slices - not a killer but still strange. Pizza and Calzone were very light on topping/filling. Not really good value for £17 a pop. Although what was there tasted fine. Doughballs (normally a favourite with my children) were apparently "a bit yuck". I asked what they meant and they said they thought they had been cooked from frozen as they were stodgy. Server was fine. Not a bad meal but not great.

Nice place, clean and tidy. Very quiet when we visited, so difficult to comment on the atmosphere during busier times. The lady who served us was lovely.

We enjoyed a lovely evening meal as a family of 3. Plenty of staff, all of which were attentive. Tip: if you have a child who is a bit of a “guzzler” like my son, Pizza Express can serve Blackcurrant or Orange Squash despite not always advertised on the kids/adult drinks menu.

Please come to this place the staff are absolutely lovely and the food is great as someone who has visited a lot of restaurants this is definitely one of the best.

Really good displays of plant's and other gardening equipment, really enjoyed coffee in the cafe then bought food in the fantastic deli.

We had a very nice dinner really good service, the staff new there ingredients in the sweet my friend had, he's has an intolerance to chocolate,and he was looked after extremely well and enjoyed the evening and will be very happy to eat there again

I was in Italy twice and the🍕was like heaven in the mouth.😋 In Alton just tested like "bread with cheese and ketchup " still eatable, but is not really proper Pizza.

Very spacious and nice place to out for. Wheelchair and buggy friendly. Tried this New Paneer tikka pizza and it was absolutely was delicious. Plenty of options for vegans. Dairy free cheese options are available too. 1 star less as our service was very poor.

Great location. Food was great as was the service. Only reason for a mark down on atmosphere was because it was very quiet, in terms of number of people. This place should be busier and we were there a Friday evening.

The food as always very good and excellent service. The sad part was the state of the gents loos (couldn't go in the ladies!) Urine stained timescale round all the urinals, it shows poor attention to cleanliness in my opinion.

Quiet when we went. You can park in the high street near by for free, after 18.00. Staff were really cool and we felt well looked after.

Had dinner here whilst staying in Alton for the weekend. The waitress was really friendly, and the food came quickly. My pizza was very nice but I do think the soft drinks are overpriced at the chain. I went about 5pm so there were lots of noisy children but the staff kept them busy with colouring things

I ordered a delivery via the app at 7:56pm and I have not got the order. It’s 10:36pm and the order is now saying it may arrive at 11pm. The app repeatedly changed times to over 2 hours. I am very unhappy about this terrible service that I have paid for and not received the food.

so i oredered it, and it took 2 whole hours to get to my house, i live 3/4 of a mile away from it, i only ordered 2 pizzas. WTF??????????

When we arrives we were seated straight away. Given menus, then we waited about 10 mins before drink orders were taken. Then we waited again about 20 min before food order was taken. Food arrived after about another 20 mins which was all good. The food was hot and tasty although my aubergines were very tough. Maybe undercooked. But once we finished we waited again for half an hour and still no one came to clear table and ask if we wanted sweet. We had to call them in the end and ask for a sweet menu. The restaurant wasn’t that busy and a lot of the staff seem to stand around chatting to each other. All in all wanted should of taken and hour and half max to each our meal took nearly 3 hours.

Pizza Express has now become prohibitively expensive. I'm amazed that I can get a £100 bill for a family of 4... It's only Pizza...!

Need a quick lunch. So...We had a family lunch of pizza at Pizza Express on Saturday. The service was excellent and the our vegetarian pizza with additions we requested was super. Outstanding experience with good food and friendly staff.

We just turned up and had a table for two in a nice corner position. The waitress was very nice a friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I ordered the new garlic prawns to start as did my wife and they were lovely. I for main I had a Sloppy Giuseppe with extra Jallopinos it was brilliant as was the Shiraz wine.I thought that the service was great and the food matched. Well done Pizza Empress you don’t normally think a chain restaurant is so good but well done and thank you.

We visited Pizza Express Alton with our six year old grandson on Friday 3rd May, we arrived just after 7pm, the restaurant was busy and lively.We were greeted by Lucy a most engaging and efficient young lady, she provided Oscar with colouring to keep him occupied whilst waiting for his food.The food was freshly prepared and hot.If I had a restaurant, would I employ Lucy, most definitely without hesitation a true asset to any business,perhaps you could think of using her as a trainer.

On arrival we were greated pleasantly, seated, with drinks ordered & bought to our table efficiently by the most senior member of staff.......that was the highlight of the evening. The guy who took our order, stood at the table, hands in his pocket & never said a word. We ordered starters & pizza mains, no response, so we were uncertain if he'd even understood what our requirements were. So on repeating them to him, he acknowledged our order by nodding & walking away. The pizzas were only Luke warm, and must have been ready way before we'd finished our starters. The chicken ( in breadcrumbs) salad left a lot to be desired. Salad was a bunch of lettuce with Caesar dressing on. NO OTHER SALAD VEG AT ALL....!! A total rip off.......I really do feel so disappointed to leave a restaurant, having paid over £60 for 3 meals that were sub standard and served by uncaring & inattentive staff.......we will not be returning to this branch of Pizza Express......

The greeting by a staff member and drinks being brought was the fastest part of the evening. There is a general feeling of a lack of leadership and decent training in this pizza express. Staff generally just milled around the kitchen area (bar one slightly older ladystaff member who was running back and forth all the time) waiting for food and chatting, there was nobody who seemed to understand that regular circuits of their customer tables was necessary. There was generally not any looking in the area of tables, and so I felt the need to keep 'pushing on' but asking for dessert menu and then standing by the door to pay. It was still 2 1/2 hours from arrival to and this was somewhat annoying, and that was with a half full restaurant and 'pushing them on' in various ways. We noticed that tables who had ordered after us were being served first, which was annoying. The food itself was ok, pretty reliable as most chains are and certainly hot and freshly prepared. There was a feeling of a lack of basic training - e.g. when putting cutlery on tables you do NOT hold them by the eating end. That is a basic understanding I would have expected. I think this pizza express would benefit from a senior staff member in charge and more training in better customer service practices. It is not a cheap pizza place to eat, and I would have expected better. A better level of alertness and circulating at tables, rather than standing at the kitchen waiting for food to be ready would have been preferrable.

Had to wait a while for drinks to come and the waiter stood on my food multiple times without acknowledging me.

Unfortunately our experience this evening fell well short of expectations as both adult pizzas were Luke warm.

Nothing exceptional here but the food is always reliable at a Pizza Express. Affable staff providing swift service. We had a pleasant lunch.

Having recently renewed our house insurance we now had the opportunity to use the mid week two for one discount with Meerkat meals. It could not have been easier, just sit down, order away and when it comes to pay show the discount info. We only opted for a main each but both meals were cooked to perfection and were a decent size. The place was not busy so the food came out quick. All in all you cannot go wrong.

After a horrible dark rainy day decided to visit in the evening. The waitress Donna was superb and made the evening. The food was really good as well as the service. Donna is a credit to your Alton branch.

I’ve used this Pizza Express twice now and although Pizza Express is generally a bit over priced I’ve never been disappointed with the food. This particular restaurant is in a great location and the staff are friendly. I’ll definitely be going back soon.

Came to eat here and asked the waitress about using a discount card - she said yes that is fine before we ordered. We ate - food was okay - not the best pizzas but they were okay. Came to pay and suddenly the same waitress was unable to take the discount card - no point in arguing but it felt grossly unfair and won’t be coming again!

I work away from home a lot which means eating out a lot. I don't tend to go for big chains like Pizzaexpress, I usually eat in good pubs and restaurants which serve attentively cooked meals made with quality, locally-sourced, fresh ingredients - restaurant standard. But one night I finished work too late to get a meal anywhere other than Pizzaexpress or Wetherspoons - I went for Pizzaexpress and the first thing I noticed was that the prices were equal to or more than the places I usually eat. I expected it to be a bit cheaper - instead, the diminutive bowl of pasta I ate, alongside one or two shockingly priced drinks, one coke, one beer - was the most expensive meal I ate during the whole fortnight I was away from home. The previous night, the excellent country pub nearby sold me a great big plate of amazing home-cooked lasagne and two pints of local ale which came to less than £20. At pizzaexpress I spent £2 more than this for a plasticky bowl of pasta which was so small it left me hungry despite my small appetite, one not-quite-a-pints-worth bottle of Tiger beer (lager really)and a very small diet coke which had ice and lemon in it which I didn't want. It was all seemingly mass-produced and/or formulaic, I suspected the cheapest ingredients and the drinks prices were a joke. I sat eating it feeling utterly ripped off.

Next to Ladyplace Court car park £1.40/2 hours in the week, free after 6pm. Plenty of space for an early dinner including alfresco and friendly, helpful staff, well able to deal with gluten free diets. My artichoke & spinach risotto was tasty but rather sloppy and artichokes had to be replaced by mushrooms but my wife’s gluten free padana tasted great although there are butter gluten free pizza bases out there. Quite expensive if you don’t take advantage of deals online or with your app but overall an above average pizza express.

Poor service, non of the stafg seemed to know what they were doing. Friends risotto was cold & had an ingredient on it that she gad specifically asked not to have. They reheated it instead of cooking a fresh one. Lemon posset looked more like a cheesecake and had what looked like a bite taken out of it. Overall not a good experience tonight.

Not a first choice venue for me, but went as part of a friend's birthday celebration. Food and service was as would be expected, but I thought prices were perhaps just a shade over what I would think as being reasonable. Pretty average really.

Pizza Express are by their very nature all very similar, they are meant to be, but this one is a cut above the norm. In every regard the whole experience was excellent, food, service, and surroundings were great. Well done Alton P/E.

Visited to get a takeout a decision I later regretted. Food was quick to be prepared, but they had no plastic cups for the garlic butter and gave me a restaurant dish with cling film on! I had asked for a VAT receipt that wasn't provided. It took the waitress 10 minutes messing with the till and she couldn't find the receipt. Then she went to the kitchen to try and find it and was another 10 minutes. By the time I made the short walk back to my hotel the pizza was cold. Very disappointing and I won't be visiting again.

Was taken here to celebrate my birthday, the visit was again disappointing. The drinks took ages to arrive especially the water which we had to ask for 3 times! The food also took ages to arrive, no statisfaction checks took place and no-one asked if we'd like desert. We had to get up and go to the back of the restaurant to ask for the bill, it took 10 minutes to get it paid and leave.

I’ve eaten at the Alton pizza express a couple of times before when I’ve come into the town for a concert. Having a 25% off voucher and need for a quick and simple meal the driver. I’ve eaten at many pizza express restaurants around the Uk and they can be quite variable but think Alton is the worst for service.

Came in today for my step sons birthday. We booked a table for 18 and whilst the setting is nice and the food was good quality the service just let it down.

At Pizza Express restaurants all around England, and this one included, has a stable menu, pizza and other Italian dishes, plus salads and desserts and drinks. Ever reliable, Pizza Express has an array of pizzas, each pizza designed for one person. We have also had the lasagna, which was good. Salads are fresh. Desserts are yummy.

I'd heard that this place had received a bit of a refurb, so I hoped that the 'atmosphere' (previously just a very great din if it's at all busy) might have been better.

Good pizza, served quickly by friendly staff. You know exactly what to expect from Pizza Express and it rarely disappoints! What I don't understand is how and when Pizza Express got so expensive... we used to eat there as students (20+ years ago) and it was a good, but affordable treat. Now the prices are sky high and we only eat there if we have a voucher!

Went for dinner as a foursome.Whilst the weather was hot and the outdoor seating all taken, the staff sat us in a French window to ensure we got the benefit of the evening breezes. This small attention to detail endeared us to the venue as a whole.It is a surprisingly large restaurant, situated right on Market Square, and the lack of passing vehicular traffic adds to the ambience.sOur party all ordered pizza which were all thin crusted, with ample toppings. I like spicy so the sloppy Giovanni was right up my street. Also loved the desserts. Beer and wine all served cold and at prices that are not outlandish. Will definitely be re-visiting this Pizza Express again

We had booked for 6 but were eventually pointed to a table for 4, no thanks. You can have that one in the corner but it needs cleaning, thanks. We went over to the table expecting the waiter to clean it up, he took a few things off the table and left. The rest of our party arrived, one went to ask the waiter to finish cleaning the table. He came over and gave us a lecture, I said I would clean it, you will have to wait. We should have left at this point.Eventually (are you getting the theme here) the table was cleared and the waitress took our drinks order. We told her at this point we were having the set menu which she fetched for us. Eventually the drinks arrived and our order was taken, 2 items we wanted were unavailable. Eventually, the food came, one of the pizzas was burnt, and we never found the chicken in the pasta! As we were having the 3 course set meal, we wanted dessert, so one of our party walked up to the desk to ask if we could order them. There were only 3 items to choose from but one was unavailable. Is there an alternative, no! Eventually the we had finished (2 hours) and asked for the bill. Well, you've guessed it, the discount was not taken off for the set meal, it was over £30 too much. The waitress then, eventually came over said, you haven't given me a code - it was sat on the table and had been shown to her 2 hours ago!Have visited this restaurant many time over the years but won't be rushing back. The service was poor, the staff unfriendly and the food disappointing.

On the whole the food here is usually very good and always at a consistent level. Yes it may be a little pricey but it does cater for all age groups and staff are very helpful. Only issue is that when it does get busy service levels fall. But been coming here for many years and will continue to do so.

We popped in because we'd been to the place next door a few times and fancied a change. We (2) chose the £9.95 special.We were presented with a bill for £34 and a few pence.The manager then explained that we had violated the precise terms of the £9.95 by eating the garlic bread without cheese which was from the other menu. I had pointed to the item I wanted from the 'special' menu ... quite often I can't pronounce what I want, so there was no reason that my order should have been mistaken apart from disinterest.We had to get up and signal that we wanted to pay. The manager immediately corrected the error by tapping away on his machine while I stood there like a lemon watching HIM correct THEIR mistake. The bill still exceeded 2 x £9.95 because my wife had asked for something extra on her pizza. There was no attempt to offer the 35 P's worth of cheese 'on the house'Awful Tragically typical English service and customer service. I hate it when I have to waste my time watching the staff trying to get to grips with a till that won't allow them to correct an error without endless entries and passwords and goodness knows what. They didn't seem to realise that this 'admin' was of no interest to me. I just didn't want to be charged the wrong amount 34 quid instead of £20 which should have been picked up by the waitress anyway. When I've finished my meal I want to be able to leave ... is that asking too much? NEVER AGAIN but so easily could have been turned to their advantage with an apology ... none was offered the sad thing is that my rotten experience will help them to improve their service, so now I'm an unpaid advisor. My advice to Pizza take their staff on a team building course and teach them to apologise ... so easy and always works and nothing more is ever needed. We're all human and can make mistakes. It's easy to do but it's even easier to apologise

We walked in and stood by the entrance while the manager had a chat with one of his staff. After a while he clicked at another waiter and pointed at me and my children. We were seated and our waiter was very attentive throughout our visit. It was just the food that was uninspiring and a limited menu. We weren't offered any condiments; no Parmesan cheese or alternative, for example, but maybe they don't offer that at pizza express?

I made an impromptu visit after work with friends. I can't fault the service. The staff were really nice and attentive. The food is pretty standard across the chain. Good value owing to the vouchers we had.
